Service is about what you would expect from an all teenage girl group of workers, they're usually pretty nice. Sometimes I get ice cream but usually I'm there to get a small bag of Cougar Cheese or cans of it to give to friends/family we plan to visit. They're $30 per can there (last I checked) and normally $40+ anywhere else (even in Pullman). I often feel like I'm remembering the price incorrectly so I try to pay check on it (both at Ferdinand's and at random stores). I think I saw cans "on sale" for about $50 at a grocery store in Redmond, WA once. They also ship the cheese cans during the colder months but online they're currently $33 (per 30 oz can) + shipping. Tip: WSU's Sensory Science Center is super close by and often needs panelists for food and beverage (including alcohol) studies. They usually thank participants with Ferdinand's gift cards (usually $5-10 but sometimes more) so most of our visits are immediately after participating in a study. They don't have panelist studies every day/week so it's best to get on their email list.

This is the only place to eat in Orofino, Idaho. The place is clean, the owner is often present and obviously cares about her product and her customers. the food is creative for the area. It's good, nothing to write about but good, fresh and clean which is unusual in this neck of the woods. read more

Good food. In a town of fried stuff these guys have a good Panini, perfect for packing down to the river. It's clean and the service is polite, that make it an A+ in my book. This is a good place for travelers with kids, a little something for everyone. Not open on Sundays though. read more

Great stop on our trip--looking for a place to eat lunch and found this little gem. Service was terrific, and so was the food. We split a turkey wrap with pesto, and a Kapa Kona Shake--coffee ice cream, Heath Bar bits, and a shot of espresso. Highly recommend to weary travelers! read more

Basic manners are optional, but political screening is not. They made fun of gay people and told a joke about a preacher and a "colored person." If you're not a part of the political party that does that, they'll say that you aren't welcome. I was polite, as I was alone, but I did say, "I will be sitting over here the whole time," the 5th time I was asked to sit in the city council member's booth. One of the woman said, "he's not a pervert, he just plays the part." I did like her but If my husband had gone instead of me the comments would have been different. They might think they were friendly or charming but actually most people would find these comments intrusive and uncomfortable. The bakery isn't responsible for every customer who walks through the door, but if this behavior is common, then it becomes part of the customer experience. I was antsy to get my food and leave... Just a mom grabbing breakfast for my family at 6:45am. They have good food and reasonable prices. The server there was wonderful and so was the man pouring coffee. It's just that some of the patrons act like they don't have mothers, daughters, or decency.
