Landry's Seafood House remains one of my personal favorites, offering great food paired with some of the best waterfront views in the city. Whether you want to slow-cruise in your exotic car, take a peaceful walk along the water, or sit back and watch the boats sail by while reading a great book, the lakefront gives you space to do it all. Bike rides, jogs, family gatherings, or simply sitting still and letting the breeze reset your mind -- there's plenty to do here that requires absolutely nothing at all. I can on and on, but I won't. 3/4 of a mile long, this park is just what you need to motivate you to get your walk on. Benches are strategically placed along the trail just in case you want to sit or break during your stroll. One side of the trial is for wheels & the other for feet. Great designation, helps walkers & riders stay in there lane & also helps with passage as needed. Any given time of the day you can run into a family or individuals taking advantage of the scenery, landscape & beautifully kept grounds. There's also a small area on the walking trail dedicated to the trees in the area. A little plaque details the various trees that line the trail & cascade throughout. Great bit of "just because" information. I can be found here on a regular basis whether I'm 'walking it out' or just 'hanging out', it's quite the place to clear your mind & just sit to enjoy the view.

One of the many things I love about city park is that it is well utilized by the community. I have taken many a walk around the big lake and have seen bikers, roller blades, runners, and fellow walkers all enjoying this scenic area! One time around is 3/4 a mile so people usually go around the track more than once. There is an area around the big lake where you can rent the low bicycles, multi person bicycles with a roof, and even the paddle boats! There is even a separate vendor who has a gondola (another romantic option). And of course there is the tree wth the chimes! Ahh, such a beautiful way to spend a day under that tree and hear the melodic chimes singing with the wind! Oh, there is also a fountain in the middle of the lake with plenty of wildlife, birds, turtles and other animals abound! Plus there is a little spot where the water falls which can be a cute picture spot! If you get tired there are many benches to rest for a bit and even a pebble path to look at native plants and flowers. And there is a pathway to cross the street to the larger walking path and picnic tables! Enjoy!

Or just feel like a kid? Storyland is so cute! Created by Mardi Gras float makers, it is a New Orleans classic full of whimsy. Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Mother Goose. It is filled with fairy tale and nursery rhyme classics. Fun fact: New Orleans City Park is one of the largest parks in the US. At 1,300 square acres it is almost twice as large as New York's Central Park which is just a little over 800 square acres and does not make the top twenty for size. For the ones that have no experience with it, we were quite scared. Some did not know how to swim, and some were afraid of the water. But after meeting Jeff, everyone's doubt eventually went away. He was one of the most friendliest, laid back instructor anyone can meet. Two of my friends originally backed out, but Jeff did some magic & made them feel comfortable that they both ended up finishing the paddle board session. We were proud of them, but thankful to Jeff for making them feel comfortable. And Jeff was so nice to help us take a group picture. We all took Uber to meet Jeff on the Bayou St. John, and the neighborhood was very peaceful and beautiful. There is no changing room, so make sure to wear appropriate attire. You can store your items at Jeff's SUV. And if you must run to the bathroom, there is a gas station very close by (a few steps away). It was quite cold when we were there for our 11:30 am session, but it eventually got warmer. If you can't swim, a life vest is offered. We all wore life vests, and not one of us fell into the bayou. Paddle boarding was very fun, and easy to learn. Thanks to Jeff for this wonderful experience. I am also offering my apologies for any inconvenience we gave him. Thanks for being patient with us. They took my sons favorite stuffed animal for a Flyboarding lesson and let my son ride on the jet ski to "help". These guys were amazing. Located at a fantastic new venue called YNOT, we were able to hang out (with our son) in a family friendly place with a splash dock to keep him busy and enough seating to watch him and the Saints play!! There are a lot of hills to go up and down on. Various soccer fields are available. There's also an outdoor stage for concerts and festivals, cute geese and chickens walking along the trail way, and overall a lot of nature in sight. Overall, a pretty nice park.
