Woldenberg Riverfront Park is definitely one of those beautiful spots in downtown NOLA that…read moredeserves a visit! It's located right along the Mississippi River and within walking distance of Riverwalk Outlets, Spanish Plaza, the Audubon Aquarium, and the historic French Quarter...So if you are close by one of those attractions dont miss it...
Little bit of the history: this park has named after famous philanthropist Malcolm Woldenberg and it was developed to reconnect NOLO with the historic waterfront, transforming what was once an industrial riverfront into a beautiful public space. It has lovely green areas, scenic walking paths if Mississippi River, benches, shady trees, sculptures, and etc...Watching those massive cargo ships and historic riverboats passing by is an experience of its own!
BUT what made my visit even more special was NOLA Funk Fest (October 16-18, 2026), exactly during my stay in New Orleans! What a sweet coincidence!!! This annual festival celebrates Louisiana's incredible musical heritage, especially funk, soul, blues, and brass music. Dont forget to check the upcoming events and purchase the ticket before arrival...
I combined my visit with shopping at Riverwalk Outlet, exploring Spanish Plaza and its beautiful fountain, and enjoying the Mississippi River scenery. Everything was within walking distance, which made my sightseeing even more enjoyable!
Keep in mind that this isn't a huge park filled with attractions, but sometimes the beauty of traveling is discovering these simple places where history, nature, and local culture come together. And the best part?
Overall, such a lovely stop in downtown NOLA! Whether you're enjoying a festival, watching the boats, taking pictures, or simply relaxing by the river, this park is absolutely worth visiting...And being there during NOLA Funk Fest made it even more memorable! Definitely recommended!!!
Side Note: Admission to the park is FREE! Of course, special festivals may have separate admission fees. There is public paid parking near by...but if you have plan to party take share ride, uber, lift and etc...Save your time and enjoy the fullest...Its worth the visit...
