If you're visiting New Orleans and want to catch a real vibe beyond the usual tourist stops, this is where you go. The energy out here is unmatched. Bounce music floats through the air, blending effortlessly with old-school R&B playing from nearby speakers. The smell of crawfish boiling, charcoal burning, and chicken grilling travels with the breeze coming off the water. It's culture, community, and comfort all wrapped into one experience. Today we came out simply to relax and enjoy a weekend of perfect weather while digging into some crawfish -- and honestly, it doesn't get much better than that. And if crawfish isn't your flavor, you still have great options nearby. Landry's Seafood House remains one of my personal favorites, offering great food paired with some of the best waterfront views in the city. Whether you want to slow-cruise in your exotic car, take a peaceful walk along the water, or sit back and watch the boats sail by while reading a great book, the lakefront gives you space to do it all. Bike rides, jogs, family gatherings, or simply sitting still and letting the breeze reset your mind -- there's plenty to do here that requires absolutely nothing at all. The beauty of the lakefront is that no two visits feel the same. You can make it a multi-day experience and walk away with completely different memories each time depending on your mood. Some days it's music and laughter. Other days it's quiet reflection and sunsets. If you're looking for your own slice of paradise in New Orleans -- somewhere to relax, reset, and truly enjoy the moment -- make your way to the lakefront. Trust me, the vibe speaks for itself.

Always a great time at the lake with crawfish and a daiquiri. There's a lot of parking spread…read morearound the lake as well as places to eat.

I just walked on the outskirts of this enormous park. On my way to the New Orleans Museum of Art, I walked on the sidewalk. I really enjoyed the large, old canopy of trees that line both sides of the sidewalk. On my way to and from the museum, I saw so many varieties of birds and groups of squirrels. The squirrels were frolicking and playing, chasing one another. The ducks were just hanging out, but there were other varieties of birds that were searching for and dining on earthworms, after the rain had brought them up to the surface. Lots of space and green grass. It's a beautiful park to visit and enjoy nature. No need to drive. You can take the trolly here, as I did.

It's a fantastic reminder that New Orleans has a quieter side beyond the busy streets and nightlife. The park is home to the beautiful Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, the New Orleans Museum of Art, and even the nostalgic Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, so you can easily spend half a day exploring without running out of things to see. The blend of natural beauty, historic architecture, and cultural attractions gives the park a lot of character. If you have a few extra hours during your trip, City Park is definitely worth a visit. It's a beautiful space that's easy to enjoy at your own pace and offers something for just about everyone.

For the ones that have no experience with it, we were quite scared. Some did not know how to swim, and some were afraid of the water. But after meeting Jeff, everyone's doubt eventually went away. He was one of the most friendliest, laid back instructor anyone can meet. Two of my friends originally backed out, but Jeff did some magic & made them feel comfortable that they both ended up finishing the paddle board session. We were proud of them, but thankful to Jeff for making them feel comfortable. And Jeff was so nice to help us take a group picture. We all took Uber to meet Jeff on the Bayou St. John, and the neighborhood was very peaceful and beautiful. There is no changing room, so make sure to wear appropriate attire. You can store your items at Jeff's SUV. And if you must run to the bathroom, there is a gas station very close by (a few steps away). It was quite cold when we were there for our 11:30 am session, but it eventually got warmer. If you can't swim, a life vest is offered. We all wore life vests, and not one of us fell into the bayou. Paddle boarding was very fun, and easy to learn. Thanks to Jeff for this wonderful experience. I am also offering my apologies for any inconvenience we gave him. Thanks for being patient with us. Highly recommended if you are visiting NOLA to give paddle boarding a try!

I usually go running by the lake and for some reason I thought how great it would be for there to be some sort of physical activity to do on the lake. So I googled it and came across this place. There's also space to launch a boat or kayak if you want to do that. BEWARE OF ALLIGATORS!!!!!!! The signs aren't a joke! Especially if you are there with a pet, have great caution when near the water. I say this because many people take their dogs down to the pavilion by the boat launch because that's where the hose is located. Keep your dog on a SHORT leash and beware of your surroundings. Gators like to hang there right around the corner.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriffs Department was here, as was the city police, members of the morgue (the live ones that work there, not the dead ones you silly goose), the SPCA was there with some animals, and so much more. Ideas for home protection were popular booths here as well. There were also booths set up giving hot dogs and soda at no cost to the public. There was a live band on stage. Now lets get to the park itself. There is an area specifically for dog that is small but enclosed. There are picnic tables and a couple of boat launches. You can access the walking trail that extends along the south side of the waterfront. This is between the levy and the water of the lake, so I am sure they block it off during storms. Great place to go to for some family bonding time.
