Double dips galore. Technician used the same spatula for my Brazilian wax and my half-arm wax -- literally didn't change out once. My friend got her toes done here, as well, but there was absolutely no evidence that the tools had been sterilized in any way. Based on my wax, I doubt it. I've had only good experiences: a five minute, $15 dollar bikini wax is all that I've asked of them and they deliver it every time impeccably. I'll keep going back. The only service I have partaken of at Audrey so far is the regular bikini wax, with the regular wax. I'm in and out in 10 minutes. At $15, it's a bargain! I've had three people (including the owner) wax me and while the experience has been slightly different every time, I've always been pleased with the results. I just moved to NYC and one of the worst things about moving is trying to find a replacement for services you previously had down pact in your old city. Waxing is at the top of my list. My old waxer was amazing, so friendly, and so fast. I found Audrey Spa on yelp, so I decided to try it out because it's fairly close and inexpensive, but the waxer I had was all over the place! She would go over areas again and again and once even touched something she really shouldn't need to have touched. I might return, but request a different woman. Audrey is a spa owned by the aesthetician Yola, who worked at Eve Salon in the village for a zillion years. I've been going to Yola since 1998 for Brazilian and eyebrow waxing while she worked there. So she struck out on her own and opened a spa. I expected it to only be waxing and facials, as that's what I know her to do, but she's got a team to do mani/pedicures and body treatments such as massages and scrubs. Yola does an amazing job shaping my eyebrows. Her bikini waxes are quick, clean, and meticulous. She is also an incredibly friendly and attentive person. read more

I just recently got a facial at Audrey - the Standard Euro 60 min facial and was quite please with the results. I was 20 minutes left for my appointment and although they were not quite pleased with me, they did not slack on the services. My skin looks great and I feel refreshed. This was my first facial so I do not have much to compare it to, but I was pleased with the results. I also did not have any adverse reactions to any of the products she used which was great considering I have sensitive skin. The 60 min facial will set you back $72+ tip which is a great deal in comparison to a Manhattan spa but a little on the pricey side for the burg. I think I will try Serenity Spa next and compare my experiences. read more

Some people will pay an inordinate amount of money on salon services thinking that the heftier price tag translates to less pain or more glamour. Neither is true. Audrey is pretty bare bones: decorations are minimal; they pipe in the radio rather than the chirps of tree frogs (I much prefer this). It's a nice environment, but they still mean business. Ripping the hair out of my legs is an industrial task. I used to do it myself a few times a year, spreading the process out over two days because the pain was inevitably that unbearable. At Audrey, the entire process took under twenty minutes. Yes, it still hurt (I opted for the "sensitive" wax). It's going to hurt. But apart from a few sections that didn't get picked up by the wax, no hair has grown back. And it's been almost five weeks. This is nothing short of miraculous. Also, I lost a ring the day I went to the salon. I called and spoke to the owner's husband and he immediately went searching for it. They didn't find it, but it was really nice they made such an effort. If my leg hair ever grows back, I'll definitely be returning. read more

I was looking forward to having an inexpensive spot for waxing in the neighborhood, but was totally disappointed in the service here. I went in for my legs - trying to escape the shaving cycle & waiting the 6 stubbly weeks to get to that optimal waxing point is always a test of patience, and I was looking forward to the pay-off of emerging from the salon after that with perfect smooth legs. The wax was quick & pretty painless. But when the waxer said, "OK finished," I sat up to find my legs still prickly, cactus-style! Um, not finished. I asked the lady about the remaining carpet on my legs, and she said, after shaving a lot of hairs break, these were too short to do anything about, and next time if I wax it will come back soft. Ok, I've switched on and off between waxing and shaving forever, and I've heard the wax lecture a dozen times. But I've never walked out of a wax with hair on my legs - that kind of defeats the purpose. I said this to the woman at the front desk, thinking maybe since I'm walking out of a leg wax without waxed legs she'd offer me a discount, or even some sympathy. But no. She told me the waxer did her job, gave me the lecture, and even brought the waxer out. Both of them were basically telling me, this is what you get for shaving. Bad waxing PLUS ungraceful handling of a prickly situation (sorry I couldn't resist) = 1 star. read more

I walked right into this cute Salon on a Monday morning and I was able to get a manicure right away. It's a very clean and sleek place and I loved the Audrey Hepburn decorations. Cynthia sat me right by the window which I thought was cool at first but then the sun started to burn my back. She was very quiet and polite and wasn't much into chit chatting but maybe that's a good thing because she was concentrating on her work. I liked my manicure BUT I really wish she would have asked me first if I wanted to have my cuticles removed or pushed back. She started removing them before I could say anything, 3 days later and I have hangnails and very crummy cuticles. The paint stayed on and I like the shape of the nails she gave me. read more

Never write bad reviews unless it is a disaster and people should know about it. This place needs a good lesson about customer service! The owner herself is rude and unfriendly. Not good waxing too unfortunately. I tried waxing legs twice there, both times parts of hair still remained on the legs. First time I thought "ok, might happen to everyone". Second time it happened, i came fixing this, and the lady/owner wasn't very happy about it, saying I should have been paying more attention and totally blaming it on me for her own mistake, which was just ridiculous, to be honest. I would say the problem is that the light is very poor in the waxing room. This already looked very unprofessional. Also spatula doesn't seem to be renewed with a new customer. Last but not least - the owner/wax person/person at the desk (all in one) - charged me full legs for doing part legs. I realized that a bit later and came back to figure out if there was a mistake. And while expecting to see cooperation and wish to solve my issue, I saw someone who would totally lose it, saying she was insulted (why?), not even listening to what I am saying, and trying to make me feel guilty instead. I tried to tell I wouldn't want any money back or blame her, just figure out for future, but her attitude was so rude. She couldn't find my payment in her records (not surprised). After asking a few question about the scheduling the woman that seemed like the owner yelled at me! Really?! After reading all these reviews I can see why this place won't last long. The actual service is phenomenal.. the girls that do the manicures are amazing! Super sweet and really take care to do the job right. Most likely you'll be the only one in there.. it's very mellow and they have Nars! Why I only gave it 3 stars? Well the owner is incredibly unpleasant. She isn't friendly and makes me feel uncomfortable whenever she's there, I love the girls that work there so much that I even try to go when she's not there, just to avoid interacting with her. i want to like this place - i really do - i live close, i get brazilians regularly in the city but i have been three times and i leave SORE and really uncomfortable for days. the owners waxing technique is rough and sloppy and she re-waxes over the same spots over and over again. Its truly painful for days - really painful - which kind of defeats the purpose. I have been a j sisters regular for years, been many times to bliss and most recently i've started going to shobha regularly in soho - go there, it's professional, clean, fast and i've never had one problem. Additionally, at audrey i've had mani/pedi's and the women give off a bad vibe - there is virtually no polish selection and the chair/ foot station is really uncomfortable and the manicurists always seem somehow inconvenienced. The net of my experience at Audrey is that the mani/pedi's are uncomfortable and the waxing is brutal. read more

I've gone here a few times and like Yola a lot. She's very personable, and the wax itself takes about ten minutes. One thing I often wonder when I go into waxing salons is how people's appointments can last more than ten minutes. I was late for an appointment at Yola, for example, and waited almost forty five minutes for the woman they let go ahead of me. Like, what was going on in there? How much hair can a person have, yaddamean? Anyway, whatev. Man oh man, is this place terrific! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this spa! I went to get some hair removal on my chest, back, and pubic regions. I've been a hairy man all of my life. And I've been fine with it until recently, when some scantily clad photos of me started making the rounds on the internet, and a bunch of jerks I've never met made some pretty disparaging comments about me. I'm sure they would never say these comments to my face; They're just a bunch of internet trolls looking to make fun of some innocent person. I bet they only make fun of me because they are so insecure with their own bodies. If they can trick everybody into making fun of someone else, nobody will laugh at them. They make fun of my hairy body because they're uncomfortable in their own misshapen/hairy bodies. It's a cry for help more than anything, and frankly that's sad. Just because YOU feel bad about YOUR body doesn't mean you should try to make other people feel bad about THEIR body. They're probably also just jealous because I'm in better shape than they are too. They think if they can latch onto my one Achille's heel, they win. Well guess what fellas? My Achille's heel is better than yours! I only have ONE too. Those trolls have a MILLION! The hair removal was a bit painful at times, but totally worth it! I now look sleek and hairless! I can't wait to show off my new body*! *In private of course! I have NEVER appeared naked in public. There are two girls who wax: one has dark hair and the other one is older and has blond hair. I've always been very happy with the girl of dark hair. She waxes very well, quick and painless. I'm very happy with her. The other one, the blond one, did my full legs wax twice and I had to tell her both times that I still had a lot of hairs left all over my legs. She seems not to see very well because when you say here, and here and here there are hairs left she says Ï dont see them. And of course, she didn't apologize. In my opinion, if you do your job bad, the minimum thing you have to do is apologize or at least don't expect any tip or give a discount. She should learn about how to take care of your customers and recognize the mistakes. read more

I am so not the person to write reviews but I had to for this place. I went there twice for waxing (never nails) and both times left me speechless at the idea that they actually charge for that kind of service. The place is cheap, sure but really, don't waste that money, add another $10/15 and go to a decent place. The first time, I had my appointment at 11. I get there 5 to and the place is CLOSED, "wow is this for real" came out of my mouth. Ok I thought I'll wait 5 minutes just to see what happens. Just past 11 the woman (what looked like the owner) shows up, no hello, no sorry, nothing (I am standing right in front of the entrance). She casually does her thing of unlocking the door, turning the music on, opening the register, etc. while I can not believe this is a professional service. Im still standing there following the woman with my eyes. After she finishes her thing she finally looks at me and goes "can I help you?" I was ready to burst laughing thinking she can not be serious. Ok, I said yes I have an appointment for waxing at 11 to which she replies, listen to this lol she replies "have a seat the waxer will be here shortly". Granted I had nothing else planned that day so I decided to wait. The girl shows up at 11:15 and strolls to the back. Another 5 or so minutes, I'm still waiting. The waxing itself took less time than my wait was haha. The girl did not say a word which made the situation really awkward and did an absoute HORRIBLE job waxing leaving strips and patches or hair which I had to point out over and over and over again (eventually I just gave up feeling actually bad for the girl) So today, feeling very hairy :) I decide to give it another shot just because I was walking by the place. This time the owner lady took me in, my god does she have an attitude! Fast forwarding the experience, she seriously left half of the hair unwaxed, I'm not exaggerating lol it's crazy I just can't believe this place is serious. Totally focused on making me look great with no nonsense.
