I have never done this before and never will again, but I wanted to share my experience with "Audio Outlet" in San Marcos. I've brought my SUV into their shop to have a radio with Bluetooth capability installed. Due to improper installation, all of the electrical in my car brunt up. Since my vehicle was nonfunctional, because of all the burnt up electrical, I had to have it towed to my mechanics shop. At that point, he confirmed that all the electrical was burnt up because of their improper installation.. I had been calling them for the last week trying to talk to a manager about what had happened, and to see how they were going to make it right . They finally contacted me this morning and are refusing to take responsibility for their poor workmanship which caused thousands of dollars worth of damage. Nor will reimburse ANY OF THE COST TO GET MY VEHICLE FUNCTIONAL again. Now the only reason I write this is to inform the public. Hopefully others will not make the same mistake I did by going to "AUDIO OUTLET" in San Marcos. What a great experience. I had been chatting with Evan (sales) over a couple of weeks with regard to the Sony AX5000 I had chosen to be installed in my 2011 Sabaru Forester and he went to great lengths to source the required adapter/mount for my car. Called me on Tuesday morning, mentioned to me that he sourced the required part and asked if I'd like to come in at 2pm that day. So I drove from my home in Cedar Creek to San Marcos, was welcomed by his colleague Jake and then chatted to Evan. The work that was done is flawless. They were able to retain the steering wheel OEM controls for volume/mode, the dual USB ports were installed in the centre console (one is required for the CarPlay connection) and all was taken care of without a fuss. In fact the centre console was a little lose when I bought the car but it was fixed as a result of whatever they did during the install. Once completed the car was brought to the front of the store and I was given a thorough explanation of the units functions and that was it. I had a bit of an (expected) wait in the store whilst it was being installed but I felt "at home" waiting, was provided with water and the whole afternoon was a wonderful break from all what is going on around me. Most likely, when I get a few more coffers together ($$) I think I'll have the speakers upgraded too. Ive already had an under the seat amp speaker kit installed on the driver side and wanted this business to install the same model on the passenger side. Called a week in advance and said I would rather not drop off my car and I would want to wait for my car to be worked on, which should take about an hour maybe an hour and a half. (I've used a different operation on the first install and did my homework and talked to about 7 competitors to compare pricing and details). They said Thursdays they can have me wait while they install. The phone quote was about $150.00 with no parts included. (At the store he said pricing "STARTS" at $!50.00). When I arrived at our scheduled time, they seemed a little confused about my appointment but recovered the info after a while. I offered to pull my stereo so they can see how easy it pops out and see the available connections but they said they have done plenty and it's not needed. The employee took my car to the back to get started and then a short time later came and told me that I needed a wire kit that they sell for $100.00. I said that's a little pricey for three wires and a fuse kit (This is far from my first install), but ok, go ahead. Then he proceeds to tell me the total will be $450.00. Of course this is where the confusion sets in. When I ask why the price change, he says that it's different pricing for not buying the speaker and amp from them, and that the rest is time to install. What bothers me is that there are people out there that dont know about the old "bait and switch" sales technique. I had to laugh and tell him obviously you guys just dont want to do it and thats ok. I talked with him about the price breakdown and I quickly realized that they were just trying to price gauge me. It's really unfortunate because the guy was really nice, and it was close to home... but I was able to drive to Austin after I left Audio Outlet to another shop, and was quoted $250.00 for the exact same install (Same price I was quoted by 3 competitors and my first install was about $175.00 without the extras I added.) These guys might know what they're doing (based on other reviews) but pricing was FAR off from competitors. Maybe they tried to gauge just thinking I would'nt know better. Even Best Buy offered to sell me the same wire kit for $30.00 on previous install, Audio Outlet wanted $100.00 for the same kit. Readers, do your homework, know what they're trying to sell you and get competitors pricing. Three stars only because at least the guys were nice and didnt take offense to my questions. I love good people and good customer service since I too run two small businesses. Dishonesty and price gauging just doesnt get my business. Where to start. A 2-3hr job took 7 hours and was not even completed when I picked up my truck. I brought in my new light bar and pods to get installed on my new truck. I was quoted the job on Wednesday by one of there employees. I informed him that i would like the 30 inch light bar above the license plate and the pod to be installed in the fog light area. With my truck i dont have any so he told me it may require custom work. I told him that if it did, i would rather have them located below the license plate. He agreed and told me it would be 2 hrs and no more then 3. I confirmed with him that it would only take 2 hrs and he said yes they could have it done in 2 and I would not be charged for any time over that. I dropped my truck off at 10 am today and told the employee that i would rather have the pod lights placed beside the light bar instead of below the license plate. He said ok they would do that. I returned at 1234 to pick it up, and it was not ready. The employee said he tried to call but it didnt go through. I had him confirm the number and recall me, It worked. Also no one left any message. He informed me that they would not be able to place the switch in the location i wanted and may have to do a custom cut out and use super glue if needed. "Super glue wtf" So, i left because he told me it would done soon. At 2:59pm i called and talked to Jess there CEO, and she informed me that they had to let one of there employees go and she was sorry it was taking so long. I asked what the progress on my car was and she told me they still had not mounted my pod lights and are finishing up the wiring. (What did they do for 5hrs). She told me that the pod lights installation would have to be custom and I told her that I informed her employee that if that was the case to mount it next to the light bar. Now im very pissed. I told her I want them to finish what they had already done and not do the pod lights so i could come get it. I asked how much longer it was going to take. She went to check and returned to the call and told me an hour to an hour and a half. So i said you close at 5. She said well sometime we are here until 6. I told her i would be there in an hour and a half. So, now its 4:30pm. And I walk in the shop and Jess come out and introduces herself and tries to explain what happened and why it had taken 7 hrs. She tried to tell me they had to let an employee go and there was miscommunication. I said that is not my problem. My problem is that no one from your shop tried to call me or leave me a message id they did. I had to contact you. She said that they had to do some extra work that Im not going to be charged for. I said you have had my truck for 7 hrs for a 2 hr job, she said so your going to come out ahead. Wtf. I took time off work to get this done so how am I coming out a head. I lost money. She asked me how she could render this. I told her, why would I want your company do anymore work on my truck. She again asked how they could make it right. I told her they could do pod light and custom work for free. Oh did I mention they didn't mount the pod lights. She had her installer Chris showed me the truck and what he had done and what also happen. "Now I don't care" chris showed me the custom work that could be done if i wanted to return. I asked why they did not mount the pods next to the light bar. They looked puzzled. I then return inside and asked to just pay. Jess rang me up and told me 309 for 3 hour work. I said I was quoted 200 (2 hours). She showed me the work order that said 2 to 3 hrs. Again wtf. Anyway, I paid and left. And you would think Jess wanted to make this right but she still charged me for 3 hour and didn't take off any discount or offer the custom installation. Thats why I am going to express to anyone that wants to get audio, tint, light or car work to avoid this place. I am going to pass this on to everyone one I know. They are the typical bait and switch or pass the buck along with ripping people off. Scores Customer service 0, management 0, honesty 0, value expensive. Oh yes your asking how are the light. Well right now they work great and chris did a good job, but after 7 hour and a youtube video or 2 I could do the same job and I would have 309 dollars more in my pocket. read more

These guys are awesome! Genuine top notch customer service. They have installed ceramic window tint on 2 different cars for me, flawless job on both. Today they installed an 8 light rock light kit on my wife's Acadia. It was a difficult install simply because of the design of the Acadia. They stayed on it for 2 hours past closing time to get it done so we could have our car back. While we were waiting the staff took music requests from us and our kids to keep us entertained. Our 9yr old is very active and talkative, the staff rolled right along with him and never acted like it was a chore to entertain all his questions. Kris was our installer for the rock lights, Kris did a kick A** job. The install is right on point and the car looks amazing! I am a person of my word. I called Audio Outlet and asked for estimates for window tinting for my truck. The lady answered my questions and let me know of availability and what I needed to do. I went to the location and first off it was very clean. Second, the lady who attended to me was very friendly and professional and treated me with respect. She showed me all the packages they provided and I asked her if they could have my vehicle ready before the close of business and she told that they could make it happen. I went to pick up my truck and it looked so sexy with the tint. The lady explained to me what I needed to do next and placed stickers on my window controls so I would not open the windows by mistake. My window tint came out really nice and at a great affordable price. I told her earlier that if I was happy I would continue my business with them and refer them to friends, family, and social media. Terrible service with absolutely no follow up. Audio outlet installed a new radio in my car. A couple of weeks later I returned because I had issues with the sound. When I picked up the car, the dash radio cover was cracked. The installer lied and said that the damaged was already there when he started. When the manager investigated, she informed me that the installer did damage the cover but would make sure they would replace with new piece. The estimated time was 4 days to get the new dash cover. It's been over 3 weeks, and the manager will not respond to my emails and phone messages. I contacted the local Toyota, and they can order and provide the dash cover within two days.
