My father always told me that if you were going to do a job, do it right the first time. Unfortunately, that is not how many people think. The car audio industry lacks any formal quality controls and many of the new vehicles come with advanced, integrated computer systems which means aftermarket audio installs are more complex and must tie into the car's existing head unit. Being that anyone can set up a business, call themselves an expert, and tear into your vehicle, you are entrusting valuable and necessary electronics to the person you hire to work on your car audio. I learned all of this the hard way over the last few months. I made a significant investment into an aftermarket audio system for my 2018 Honda Accord. I entrusted Yelp reviews and chose a shop that promised quick results. After the install, I started noticing problems. I hired another shop to tune the stereo because the shop that installed it, told me they didn't do that (should have been a red flag). The system still did not sound right. I started making calls around town, asking who worked with high end car audio. I was referred to Audio by Art. I swallowed hard after Art listened to my car and told me he would need to take a look at the install. He was not willing to suggest a solution without knowing the depth of the problem. I really appreciated that. He ultimately had to spend an entire week having the redo everything. He showed me photos of the previous work and his work, night and day difference. The previous shop cut every corner. Art is a master tech. He is thorough. He also wisely chooses to install the equipment he knows. He has a network of peers that he consults. I appreciate that level of professionalism. Audio by Art is the place in San Antonio to go to if you really care about quality and honest work. You get what you pay for. The attached picture is one example of the first shop's work versus Art's work. read more

Audio By Art - First shop's work vs. Art's work - Car Stereo Installation Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

I had a unique experience with one of the individual who who here. Maybe they were having a bad day, but extremely rude and not in keeping with what I consider a professional organization. Update: This is amazing. At 45 years old I find myself in my first online back and forth. I guess I have to add my two cents here since integrity is important to me. The entire interaction from the time I parked, my interaction with their employee and moving the SUV was 30 seconds or less. Not this extended timeline in their post. At no time was i upset about having to move my SUV, I was upset and disappointed in how I was treated. I'll agree I missed all the signs and large door out of excitement to talk with them about potentially getting a new toy for the SUV. Just a simple upgrade to the radio, it's a bit outdated. Getting a beer was the second stop. Once I relocated my SUV I did sit down for a beer. Wrote my original post and looked for options to complete the original task I set out to accomplish. read more

I took Art my 13 year old Chevy 2500 duramax diesel for an upgrade to its sound system. The truck is in excellent condition and has at least 200,000 miles left until serious service. I decided it was time to enjoy some really quality sounds while I put that next 200k on the girl. I wanted the look to be stock but the music to be exceptional. Art replaced the original 6 speakers with German top of the line plus manufactured their mountings. He installed the sub woofer in a custom made box and fitted that under the rear seat. He selected and tuned an amplifier to bring the best sounds possible. Art asked for some examples of the music I like and tuned the system to bring out those best sounds. I won't go into all the small detail things he does, but just know that Art is a true professional and if you talk to him, it won't take long to understand why. read more

Art is indeed an artist. His talent, knowledge, passion and taste, are second to none. He did a full, system for me, and on the way home I realized that I have never heard music the way it should be. Every detail is beautiful, extremely serviceable, and in concert with the engineering of the vehicle. If you're considering Audio By Art, READ THIS FIRST! Art is a true audiophile. This isn't the guy you go to when you want two woofers added to your trunk for the cheapest price possible. This is the guy you see when you want a complete system overhaul. His level of expertise is unmatched in San Antonio. From clean installs using OEM parts and placement all the way to custom boxes, pillars, panels, and so on. Art is a fabricating wizard! I've been working with Art for about a year now trying to get my car to sound exactly the way I want and I have not made it easy on him. I've whined and complained and just been unsatisfied at times. Let me make this clear though, the issues I've had are in no way Art's fault. To be honest, I've refused to make some hardware changes and forced Art to work around them. He has been an absolute professional and has does everything he can to get my car where I want it. I've been in the shop with him while he's called manufacturers to discuss specs, options, and compatibility. He has worked countless hours to get me the sound I crave. Art has never tried to talk me into spending more than I wanted, he has never tried to push a specific brand on me, and he has never ignored any of my concerns. Art has always been upfront and honest. He's made recommendations about products/devices, but always encouraged me to research them before making a decision. He's let me watch over his shoulder while he troubleshoots and he's even explained why he was doing what he was doing. I've learned more about car audio while dealing with Art than I ever have in the 19+ years getting installs from "big name" shops. Art is passionate about car audio and it's insanely obvious. Just look at his Instagram if you don't believe me. This is the guy you want to go to when you want things done right, when you want your install to be clean, and when you want to be worry free. His prices are more than fair for the level of attention to detail and craftsmanship that go into his work. Audio By Art is, hands down, by far, the best place to go to for a quality job from a true industry professional. 13/10 would recommend. read more

Art really knows audio installation, pays perfectionist attention to detail, and I highly recommend him. Unlike a lot of the other Audio sales and installation places in San Antonio he only focuses on car audio. Also, he listens to you, listens to your system, and provides an optimal solution within your budget. I went to Art for sound dampening my doors and install of fast rings around the speakers I had installed elsewhere (Sound Master [SM]) . SM wouldn't do the sound dampening. Not only did Art do an excellent job with installing the door sound dampening liner and speaker fast rings, he identified some less than stellar install work and amplifier tuning performed by SM, and fixed that too. Now, I'll admit the sound of my car audio was much better over the original Honda factory system with SM's amp and Alpine R Series speakers install, but the additional improvement in sound quality and balance achieved by Art's door/speaker work and fine tuning of my amp and component crossovers is nothing less than incredible. I thought I had done my due diligence before selecting my original audio installer; if I actually had, you would have been the recipient of my original system install business. Thanks Art; I'll be back when I am ready to take you up on your ideas for a more stealth placement of my shallow sub-woofer! read more

I can't recommend Art enough! He is very detail oriented and a perfectionist like my self. He isn't your typical installer. He is a true specialist and an artist. He pays a lot of attention to detail and doesn't cut corners. He makes sure the work is done right. I drove over an hour away from Austin specifically to get work done by Art and I couldn't be happier. I will continue to see him for any further projects. Give him an call and he can answer any question you have. Let Art create your vision into reality. read more
