Was very impressed with the quality of the work performed, however it is not exactly the work I wanted. Robert did not consult with me on where exactly I wanted my TV placed before mounting it. He placed it over the mantle where I asked, but he placed it directly on top of the mantle, effectively killing my use of the mantle. I did not notice it until he was gone (he started the installation before I got home), and I emailed and asked him to center the TV between the mantle and celing. He said he would come back to do it...haven't heard from him since. A bigger issue I have is that the written estimate he gave me states at the bottom that he will only take partial payment at the beginning of the project with the rest due upon completion. When he ran my card however, he charged the full amount. I let it slide, because I was sure he was going to do a great job. In retrospect, I wish I had made him refund the full amount and take a partial payment as he said. At least that way I would have had some sway over having him install the TV the way I wanted. Now he has made it obvious he has no reason to come back. read more

My wife and I closed on our new home at the end of January this year. Robert was able to meet and consult with us prior to closing, on-site, to discuss our wants, needs, budget and what we could best do physically, with the space we have. We ended up with a fantastic set-up in the media room, TV's wall-mounted in the family room, master bedroom and covered patio, along with plans to finish the family room/patio project whilst having a fully functional, exceptionally neat system in the mean-time. In addition to this, Robert was able to optimise the home wifi network, run multiple sources from one part of the house, to another, all whilst leaving none of the usual unsightly fishing holes etc. All of this in one days work... We had Robert out a little over a month ago to install a great deal of equipment at our house...which we just moved in to. The areas of installation were: media room install, audio rocks by pool, patio speakers and outdoor tv, and built-in speakers in office/bedroom/living room. With all of this work I was certain the price would be high to have completed at once...although Robert worked the numbers to make it affordable. It was important to my wife and I to have things simple to operate, so Robert set everything up through our smart devices. I have waited about a month to ensure I was still as excited about the quality of work and service provided by Robert and I am happy to say things could not be better. With this much installation of technology there is a good chance some fine tuning will be required...which it was. Robert has come back out to our house twice and has everything fully operational. Good luck getting this guy to call you back! He installed an outdoor audio system, TV, wifi, etc at my house. The wifi has not worked since he left and now the speakers do not work. He has cancelled several appointments or just plain not shown up. I spent a lot of money on a system that does not work. Save your money and frustration!!! What can do to make this right, seriously? You were supposed to be at my house twice without showing up! You should not have taken on the job if you didn't know what you are doing, more disappointing is the lack of response and not showing up for scheduled appointments. If you are dumbfounded how to set up your tv and your surround properly use these guys! Robert is super helpful and he's super detailed. Trust me the guy knows what he's doing! He's polite, professional and even gives you an ETA via text to your home so you know exactly when he arrives! My wife and I purchased a new home and had no idea how to properly mount our tv into a facade on our fireplace without the risk of screwing it up. For Robert it was no problem. I called Mr Hammer for an estimate for wiring my home theater room. Around the first week of march. He seams very knowledgeable about home theaters so that was a plus. At first I wasn't going to let him do the work but then after some consideration we decided to go with him. I called him and told him we had decided to go with him after all. He said he would call me the next day and set up a time. Well that day came and went so after a few days went by I sent him an email asking about a day. He informed me a day or so later he was on spring break with his family but asked about the 24th of march. After feeling guilty for trying to contact him while on a vacation I let the email set tell the following Monday 17th of march 2014 letting him know that the 24th would be fine. I sent him another email around the 19 that we also wanted to make a change. We wanted to have our audio cabinet installed in the Master Bedroom closet with the door facing in to the media room. He quickly replied asking for pics of the closet which I sent a few hours later. There was a couple more emails about specifics but no further contact since march 19 2014 and its is now the March 27 2014. The 24th came and went and he was a no show. I feel like he is uninterested either because of the changes I requested even knowing it was going to cost more. Though I stated it may have to be done separately in a couple months but wanted it wired as if it was going to be in the closet as I did not want to have to redo wiring because we needed an extra 5 feet to move it to the closet. That or because I have everything new receiver and speakers and audio cabinet and he was unable to sell me anything else he is uninterested in doing my project. I don't know what the problem is! This was the first guy I called based on reviews to do this work. While he was on vacation I had called another guy for a quote as well who seems to be even less reliable then this guy. So I have now contacted a 3rd guy xing fingers that it will finally get done. Word to the wise never tell a sales men what your budget is. Make them give you a price. read more

After reading the reviews I had to share my experience with Robert from Audio and Video Dreams. First let me say my review is based on my experience from 3 years ago, I wanted a two stage process of installing Audio and Video for my pool and outdoor kitchen and then I wanted to move on to installing my home theater. I had seen Roberts van in the Cypress area (at the local Buccees to be specific) I got his card and scheduled an appointment for him to come to my house. Robert was timely and very knowledgeable and his quote for the first phase of my project was good enough for me to hire him to do the work of installing two outside TV's and audio for the pool area with the promise that when he was done with that project that we would move on to the home theater install. The good news was that Robert was on time and started work when he said he would but this is where the trouble began and is much like many others who have posted poor reviews about Robert's ability to communicate with his clients, after completing half the work all the sudden Robert failed to show up again to complete the remaining work. Numerous phone calls and emails resulted in nothing and I began to get frustrated not knowing what was happening. Weeks went by and with nothing from this guy so I had to move forward and find a new vendor. Weeks into working with my new vendor all of the sudden I start getting phone calls from Robert asking when would be a good time to come over and finish his work, he stated he had been at a training seminar and was looking forward to completing the install. He acted as if it had only been a few days and that I had known the entire time that he hadn't fallen off the face of the earth!! Due to how I was treated I ignored his continuous attempts to reach me with several messages from him sounding confused as to why I wouldn't return his calls. A few years later my neighbor hired Robert to install his home theater, I warned him about Robert but he decided to use him anyway, my neighbor was perfectly happy with his experience which seems to be consistent with the reviews here which is either very good or very bad. I would say that using Audio and Video Dreams is a risk not because of Roberts knowledge or expertise with audio and video but purely because you never know which Robert is going to show up(or not show up at all!!), it's a 50/50 risk and as a consumer that is never a good bet in my opinion! read more

We recently moved to Houston, and brought our TV , speakers, Xbox and Apple TV with us (since my previous home is on the market, and it is fully staged, I did not move all of my other entertainment equipment, ie: surround sound speakers, 3d TV, etc). I explained to Robert that I want a temporary entertainment set up, and would like to have a clean and professional look without wires showing. I also did not want him to drill holes in the wall until the rest of my equipment arrived. He understood what I wanted and was able to neatly set and arrange our entertainment area. Not only did he install the system, but he also remounted my television that best buy mounted incorrectly He also made sure that all of my wires were tied together and looked clean and tight coming out of the walls. We hired Audio & Video Dreams, LLC after agreeing to a quote for the installation of a home theater (a mix of existing equipment & the purchase of new). The quote was thorough & experienced. They were knowledgeable of equipment & installation (and gave good suggestions & information), but then they NEVER SHOWED for the job. They have been completely UNREACHABLE & REFUSE to return phone calls & emails. They are completely UNRELIABLE and an unfortunately a waste of time. A professional & reasonable quote is nothing if the project never comes to fruition because they never show for installation. It has been an incredibly disappointing experience. We were more than ready for the installation and anxious to get the job done. Our pocketbooks are out... we are ready... and they just don't care enough to return our phone calls or emails (or just show up for install!). It looks like we received the identical treatment that Mr. Jerry P. (fellow Yelp reviewer from March 2014)! It's very unfortunate. Mr. Hammer seemed very knowledgeable, but he isn't reliable. We are honestly left utterly dumbfounded that someone can operate a business in such a way. He not only wasted our time, but his as well. Why quote the job, if you don't want to do the job? He set the price, we agreed... and yet, I doubt we will ever hear from him again. ---- an update in reference to Robert's (business owner) comment that questions the legitimacy of my review because he doesn't have a record of my yelp user name. Yes, we use an alias on Yelp but that doesn't undermine the legitimacy of our review. What is alarming is that this company ignores so many customers per week that they can't put two and two together. Our installation was scheduled for this week. They have refused to answer their phone, return many many phone calls we have made and to return any of our emails. Obviously, the job has gone to another company with three more in standby. Robert came to the rescue! We bought a state-of-the-art big screen TV from Frys and paid for delivery, equipment, and wall mounting. What a mistake. Their guy told us it couldn't be mounted and I will be putting a review out there for them soon. Robert can supply everything. He is prompt and responsive. Our TV was mounted beautifully within two days of contacting him. He tuned the speaker and will come out to do the same with the TV at the appropriate time. I should add he did it for a significantly lower price than Frys. Robert can get anything, including security systems, so while I might go to Frys to get a good walk in the future, I will buy everything and have it PROFESSIONALLY installed by Robert in the future. read more

My husband was at work when Robert came to install. When he was done I paid him and he left With the promise of an emailed receipt. When my husband came home he said that the work was not what they discussed. I also paid more than what was settled on by husband and him by about $150. I intially loved working with him. A guy from my church. Unfortunately for spending close to $49k I should have found someone more professional. He constantly missed deadlines always with an excuse. He constantly tries to make the customer feel guilty because of his problems and bad scheduling. His former drug addict employees didn't help either. I currently have work of his that needs warranty which he has not worked on for 10 months now. I have a job that I paid 90% ALL upfront that still is not done. He bought sub par equipment on Amazon which ended up being pirated and added weeks to my job. This is NOT a company I would suggest or recommend. Robert did the initial sound installation at our house after we were quoted a price by the company that built it for over twice as much. He went through the bid process and did great installation. After that we continued to have issues with the UVerse TV feeds he came and helped diagnose it and then worked with us to go to another service that actually provided the bandwidth necessary to run four TVs at the house. He then helped us trouble shoot where the installer for the new service managed to screw up the internet and came out three times to get the network right. Very good work and willingness to work with us to get the entire system working right, I recommend him without question. read more

We recently had a home automation system installed by Robert Hamer with Audio and Video Dreams. At first, everything went very well but then things fell apart. After the install, which was never quite finished, the Clare system stopped working. After numerous unanswered phone calls and text messages to Robert's cell phone, we contacted Clare Controls and got the name and phone number of a new dealer to work with. Had to pay a service fee to the new company for them to come out and get access to the system and make the fix. Only took an hour which was great! Was told by new dealer that splices were made to the system that should not have been done so we are purchasing equipment to make it work right. If you are in the Houston/Tomball area and need an automation company, I highly recommend you contact Progressive Connections. They are top notch, unlike Audio and Video Dreams.
