OMG, what a delicious and delightful evening. Dined here for Newport Restaurant Week and it was amazing. The food and service was top notch. It reminds you of eating at a French bistro. The food is well prepared and the service amazing. Everyone is friendly and attentive. It's my first time dining under Audette with new ownership and will definitely return. Great for all occasions.

Audette is beautiful on the eyes as soon as you walk in. A perfect place for a romantic evening. My friend and I had a lovely table by the window. We started with a delicious bottle of Sancerre. We shared the Caesar, I've never had one so finely chopped and the figs. For dinner we had the tuna and the steak, both just Devine. If you are looking for French this is your place.

Our server Karen was kind and attentive with our large party. The sampler appetizer was splendid. Clams Casino was cooked perfectly, the oysters Rockefeller were delicious, I loved my mushroom 10 out of 10 appetizer. I got the beef Wellington as my entrée without the pate. It's rare to find a restaurant that can offer beef Wellington let alone one that cooked it to absolute perfection. I prefer mine rare plus and the chef nailed it. They do family style sides for a vegetables which was nice. My fiancé got the rack of lamb and they weren't joking. It's a whole rack, he said the flavor was spot on. The prime rib was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The beef Wellington was one of the best Beef Wellington I have ever ate. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Never had potatoes prepared that way so it was great trying something new. The frog legs were also cooked great very tender and moist. The breading was light and crisp but could have used some salt. If you want a really nice evening, at a fancy but not too expensive restaurant , this is the place for you. It is very quiet restaurant, great for a romantic meal or taking your parents out to eat. Lovely high ceilings and beautiful tables :) We got dozens of oysters each that comes with hot sauce and mignonette and lemon. There was also wings and beer for happy hour. I had to get the mussels and fries cos I was slightly buzzed. We enjoyed a 2021 Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir with our dinner. My husband and I shared two appetizers, the beef tartare and the lobster raviolo. Outstanding! The beef tartare was so fresh and flavorful. Unfortunately, there were only two pieces for $19. The lobster raviolo was filled with mascarpone and lobster topped with trout row. Decadent. One ravioli priced at $21. I had the Dover soul with almond sauce ($64) and hubby had the roasted duck ($34) for entrees. Both perfect in every way. One minor suggestion is that the Dover didn't need the frisée. It just got in the way. Our friends who recommended Chanterelle suggested that we order the Grand Marnier soufflé when we ordered our dinner because we shouldn't miss out on this dessert and it takes some time to bake the soufflé. Oh my goodness...I have never tasted something so divine, creamy and luscious. Silk on my tongue. The service from Nick and the young lady assisting was spot on. It is an expensive restaurant but I think worth the $$$$ Just be aware of the cost so you're not surprised. I've dined at Alinea in Chicago which is a 3 Michelin star restaurant ranked 9th on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, and Chanterelle might be my 2nd most favorite restaurant after Alinea. For an entree, I got the Cornish game hen supreme, which I will be thinking about for a long time. It was well seasoned and the mix of accoutrements made the dish. I wish I got more of the butternut squash/carrot purée!! This will definitely not be our last time at Chanterelle!

We looked online for local restaurants to dine at during our stay. Neither my girlfriend or I have ever gone to a French restaurant, so we decided on The Metro Bistrot, due to all the fantastic reviews. I called and spoke with Jay (chef and owner) a week prior to make the reservation. We took an Uber from the hotel, as it's BYOB and brought a couple of bottles of wine. This was a Saturday before a big snow storm the following day. I think due to this, the restaurant wasn't as busy as usual. We ended up being seated in the back room all to ourselves. It was a very nice room that had about 4 tables. Stephanie, our server was an absolute delight! Turns out she works for the hotel as well and she's the one I spoke with when we booked the room. She opened our Beaujolais for us and brought some wine glasses. She kept the bottle chilled in the fridge for us. She went over some of the specials being prepared that night and was able to make some nice recommendations. My girlfriend ended up with the special seafood soup special with a lobster stock as a base. I ordered the escargot. Both were absolutely fantastic. She kept our bread basket filled with wonderful fresh warm bread to soak up all the goodness of the soup and escargot. My girlfriend ordered the boar shank and I ordered the stuffed quail that was stuffed with foie gras and pate. The boar meat fell right of the bone and was some of the most tender meat we've ever had. Both dishes were phenomenal. Jay stopped by our table to chat. He's super nice and even took some photos with us. We ordered 3 different kinds of cheeses prior to ordering dessert. All three we ordered were great! Stephanie also brought us a bowl of crackers to go with the cheese. For dessert, my girl had the cheesecake with an oatmeal crust and fresh berries. I'm not usually one for sweets, unless it Crème Brûlée, so I opted for the Boursin stuffed Shrimp, forgetting it wasn't an appetizer, but a main entree. It was out of this world! All the fish Jay brings in are always fresh and NEVER frozen. He even poured me a small glass of some white wine and it went so well with the shrimp. We cannot wait to go back. The prices are very reasonable and the service and food is second to none. Cheers!

I forgot how nicely appointed the interior is. It has a fabulous bar area that was full. The hostess was great. She gave us a nice table with an excellent view. Our server came over and introduced herself. We ordered a couple of reserve cocktails, including a special Manhattan and a Last Word. The cocktails were fantastic. We began with crab cakes and a wedge salad. We split both so we could try each appetizer. I have to say that these crab cakes were amongst the best I have ever had. The Wedge salad was also very nicely prepared and very flavorful. The dinner rolls were also excellent. Many places forget this entirely these days. We ordered our entrees next. My wife ordered the filet medium rare, and I ordered the 2-pound baked stuffed lobster. We ordered a very nice half-bottle of Cabernet as well. The entrees were served, and my wife cut into the steak. It was way overcooked. The middle was medium well, and the ends were well done. We sent it back. These things happen, and we took it in stride. The problem that developed was time. After 10 minutes, we were told by our server that the new steak would be right out. Well, 5 minutes later, we heard the same thing from Matthew (the manager?). My entrée was getting cold, and I was getting a bit aggravated. I went to the bathroom. When I got back to the table, my wife had her new filet. She said that Matthew apologized profusely and told her that both entrees would be taken off the bill. Her steak was perfectly prepared, and although my entree was a little cold, it was still excellent. I told Matthew that there was no need to remove my entree, but he insisted. As I said, these things happen. When they do, how the restaurant handles it determines how the customer's experience ends. Matthew went out of his way to make up for this mistake. We will return due to his actions. As I said, the cocktails and food were excellent. We want to sit at the bar as we are bar people. Try it out. You won't be sorry.

Despite the fact that we were towards the end of the typical lunch crowd, after 1:20 pm, the place was still hopping. Without a reservation, we were grateful for any table. Having spent 4 times the bill here on dinner the night before, we were delighted to discover they had a lunchtime menu special for just $22. I ordered their salad (originally out of "obligation" to assuage my nutritional guilt) & an enjoyed a gorgeous burger. Both were wonderful--the salad was really fresh and flavorful and paired so well with the burger's savory decadence. My partner ordered a cup of clam chowder, which she thought was excellent, and the same tasty burger. We both received very generous portions we were unable to finish. Service was friendly and allergy-aware. They had a coat check, which was a nice touch given our many layers in March. Staff were solicitous and plentiful. Spoke with at least one manager...maybe 2?
