My husband and I ate at Aubrey's for an early Valentine's Dinner. He had center cut sirloin, baked potato and salad. I ordered mahi blackened with pico de gallo, loaded baked potato and rice. Our food was delicious and the server was so nice and professional her name is Cellynn. The manager was very kind and professional. The restaurant was beautiful with low lights and minimal noise. Stopped in during the height of Christmas party season while traveling. I was skeptical about ordering an entree salad for carry out but I do not regret it at all. I got the steak salad. Everything was delicious steak was perfectly cooked and I greatly appreciate the warm steak was packaged separately than the cold salad ingredients. Everyone in the party happened to order entree salads and everyone was pleasantly surprised and Aubrey's of Johnson City is our go to dinner spot when we have to stay over in JC while traveling. I've eat here years ago when I lived in the area and I cannot remember having one bad thing so I am confidant suggesting this dining establishment for a nice dinner especially for large parties or those with varied tastes because the menu has a bit of something for everyone's tastes. The service was adequate. The ambiance is LOUD. When will restaurants figure out that these open ceilings are horrible to the ambiance of the restaurant. It's so loud that you can barely hear the person next to you in conversation. The food was so so to bad. The bread/rolls they serve is dry and plain, no flavor. And for a table of three, they served two rolls. I mean how hard is it to serve fresh tasty bread rolls? My pasta stack in a mushroom cream sauce was so oily, it was disgusting. The bartender Jessie (maybe Jessica) was EXTREMELY rude and we watched her SPIT into my drink after we complained about a wrong drink order!! I would NEVER go back here! Listen, my friends love this place and brought me the first time. It's a good lunch spot and a nice comfortable afternoon bar in which to chill. It's busy at night, but there are usually tall booths and less bustley spots available. Honestly I come here for the service. The service was great, Alyssa did a fantastic job waiting on us. The quality of the food, however, was wanting. I ordered the Hawaiian Ribeye with mashed potatoes and broccoli. While the kitchen nailed the temperature I requested (medium-rare), I could tell that the cut of meat was not fresh and likely frozen before hand. It was tough and hard to chew. So this location was picked by convenience and proximity but I had found it ahead of time and knew it looked like a good option. My husband, myself, and another coach walked up the hill from our hotel to the restaurant. We were here on a Wednesday evening around 5:00 p.m.. We did not anticipate having any trouble being seated and we were correct. However, the hostess acted like it was a trouble to seat us and asked if a table would be OK. We said yes. I'm not sure why it was important that we sat at a table as there were very few tables or booths taken. They also have a bar and outside seating so it was not like a table was scarce. Moving on, I had checked out the menu ahead of time and knew there were several salads that were options. As it turned out, the actual menu had even more options than what I had seen on the Yelp menu. I ended up ordering the cranberry chicken salad that I had selected ahead of time but there were several that would have been fine. The coach that accompanied us got an order of 4 wings. They only offer wings on Wednesdays and they are a dollar each. You need to order in quantities of four. My husband got the Cajun chicken sandwich with fries and also got a dinner salad. I was the only one who got a drink and I got my usual Diet Coke at this restaurant. The waiter did a great job of keeping my drink filled. Before my husband even got his dinner salad the waiter offered some fresh bread to the table. We accepted and I'm glad we did. I normally don't eat rolls or bread but I could not turn down a nice, fresh and warm brown bread. It did not need butter and I ate a couple small pieces. It was delicious! My husband's salad looked pretty good and he ate all of it. In a timely fashion, our entrees were brought out. The wings ended up being very nice sized. You can order fried or grilled -and the coach with us got grilled. He only ate 3 and offered me the 4th. I accepted and it was juicy and delicious. It is just the way that I like wings. Baked or grilled just not deep fried. The sauce had a nice little kick to it and I thoroughly enjoyed my wing. My husband ate every bite of his Cajun chicken sandwich. It was a very nice sized chicken breast with a Cajun dry rub on it. It also came with lettuce and tomato. There were some nice looking fries - and a generous portion. He did not end up finishing all of them. My salad was a very generous bed of mixed greens with a nice amount of cut up grilled chicken as well as goat cheese red delicious apples strings, dried cranberries, and pecans. I ordered it with oil and vinegar and it was absolutely delicious. I actually think I said that it was my ideal salad. The waiter brought the bill in a timely fashion, I paid and we were gone. I would definitely come back to this restaurant and even though I'm not a wing eater I just might order the wings! I definitely would get the salad or one of the other salads offered like the steak salad if we lived in the area and came here often. I highly recommend eating at Aubrey's. As a side note or afterthought, the restaurant appears to be a nicer and more upscale restaurant. The wait staff are nicely dressed and the menu well written. However, the prices are very reasonable and other people were dressed casually like us. So I wonder what style restaurant it really aspires to be. Normally the service here is AMAZING! But tonight on Christmas Eve I met an actual Grinch of a waiter. I get it, it's the holiday and you'd rather be at home but the place was sort of packed tonight but not crammed cause I was able to see other waiters and waitresses check on their tables woth a smile. Tonight, my waiter was rude and never apologized for any of his mistakes. I came in to have diner with family I don't get to see. He almost didn't take my wife's order unless I said something. In the total of a bit over an hr I had to ask for everything including another drink or refills. Almost 15 minutes after clearing our table before I got up to ask the manager for the check. My wife ordered her steak medium and received it on the more rare/medium rare side. My filet bites came almost well done instead of medium rare. Overall, the service is great and I'd normally tip 30% on my meal and because it was Christmas Eve I was gonna tip $100 but did a standard 20% cause service was meh. read more

OK, you go down to two stars. For the past few visits, your Asian Chicken Salad has been horrendous. 40% of the lettuce has been the SPINES of iceberg. The chicken is rubbery. Seriously - you charge $15 for this??? I can pay the same for a wonderful take-out salad at Fresh Market. Your staff is always friendly, and efficient. I'll give you that. Very good meal but our service was really delayed. Our server admitted she got talking to another table and did not realize how much time passed; as a result, we really had to wait a long time to place our order and get our food. Other than the slow service, the food was good. I had a salad and it was huge with lots of sirloin steak on the salad. My wife had the Buttermilk Chicken with mashed potatoes and my son had the chicken fingers (which were very good). Decided to give Aubrey's another try since we got a gift card for Christmas. Service was good. Food was average, kind of what you would expect from a chain restaurant. My wife enjoyed the potato soup. Complimentary bread was almost stale and pretty flavorless. Prices were actually pretty good for these days. There is a good amount of options on the menu. One tip, if you have any size you may want to ask for a table - booths were pretty tight. read more

I stopped by for lunch and had high expectations because of the ambiance inside. My entree was their Seafood Pasta and 3/4 of the way through I found a hair in my food. It was a beard hair and I could tell because I have long hair that was in a ponytail. The hair had thicker gristle to it like facial hair. I noticed the kitchen staff did not wear beard nets and several of the cooks have beards which you could visibly see in the restaurant. My waitress went above and beyond to try to rectify what happened which I appreciated and called the manager over. The manager didn't come across sympathetic and only offered to remake the dish. He had no concerns about the beard hair and didn't even apologize, just..."Do you want another one?". Before I found the hair, I was going to get a dessert and it put me off that no cares were given.They only took $5 off my bill and will never be returning back. Per the Tennessee Department of Health: "c) Effectiveness. 1. Except as provided in part 2. of this subparagraph, food employees shall wear hair restraints such as hats, hair coverings or nets, beard restraints, and clothing that covers body hair, that are designed and worn to effectively keep their hair from contacting exposed food; clean equipment, utensils, and linens; and unwrapped single-service and single-use articles." It's really unfortunate and I hope they will take measures to meet health standards while preparing food. read more

I was quite excited to eat here, and I had pretty high expectations based on word of mouth. Unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. My family and I always eat family style meaning we order a few different meals and we share it all. Essentially we ordered a little bit of everything and the overall verdict was "meh". The pineapple marinated steak was pretty tough; I can definitely make a better one at home. It seemed more like a meat quality issue because the overall cook on it was good. (I heard someone say they would rather have a steak from cheddars and I rejected that but....sadly they were right). The chicken breast was over cooked and chicken tenders were just average. I will say the spinach dip was pretty damn good and the sweet potato fries were some of the best I've had from anywhere. Our server was amazing. In fact that was the best part. We gathered here for a family dinner. It was 11 adults and 2 kids. We made reservations but still had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated. The waitress who took care of our table was an absolute pleasure. She was sweet and patient, you can imagine its a mess trying to herd 11 adults to order. The food was pretty decent and they had bottles of wine 50% off, which is odd for a weekend night but im not complaining about it. I ordered a filet mignon for myself and the salmon dinner for my daughter. I was surprised to see they had salmon on the kids menu. Thats amazing! My daughter is not a huge fan of pizza or mac and cheese so I was super thrilled to see they had "real" food as an option. The filet mignon was slightly overcooked, but all in all pretty tasty. The one here is very nice, even little nicer then the one in Greeneville. Food was really good, our one year old eat probably half the bread they brought out. He really liked that. As visitors from out of state, we were looking for a great burger restaurant that we could visit again before the week was over. It turned out to not be this restaurant. We were seated at a booth that had what looked like 1/2 bag of corn chip crumbs all over the floor. Our server, Malakai, started out very friendly, and helpful with his recommendations. We both ordered the cheddar burger with a side of parmigiana spinach for me, fries for my husband with condiments on the side. The food arrived rather quickly, although without any ketchup, mustard, mayo as requested. We flagged down our server and he brought them out promptly. I noticed my burger didn't have any sign of cheese so as our food sat down at a table with another customer, yes SEATED, I asked him to come over and he told me, in a minute. My response was we have a problem NOW. He put in a reorder and the manager came over immediately and acknowledged the problem. After waiting another 10-15 minutes my burger came out but my husband was finished with his meal so I requested a to go box. He informed us my meal was removed from the bill. The food was just so-so although I will give them an A+ for the spinach! Will not return. read more

We couldn't decide if we wanted Aubrey's or Chop House in Kingsport. We were both pretty tired & had a rough few weeks so we chose Aubrey because it was closer. We haven't eaten at Aubrey's much so we were surprised when we pulled up & the parking lot was kinda empty. I almost rethought my decision & thought about choosing something else. However, we walked in and was immediately seated. Myself & my husband both got water to drink. I ordered the Hawaiian Ribeye came with one side. I got a baked potato & added a salad. Ask for extra onion for the salad. My husband ordered the exact same thing except his ribeye was a normal ribeye... Our waitress brought our salads (BIG SALADS) and they did send 2 side cups of onion each. Only one salad dressing. We had to ask for another. But the salads were so good!! Fresh. They cost an extra $5 to add to the steak and one side. My husband noticed the table next to us had 3 round loaves of bread & butter at the table and ask our waitress if bread came with the meal. She said "If you want it!!" A little snotty. He loves bread!! He said the bread was yummy and he loved the butter. It was whipped with a slight sweetness... Our meals came out quickly. Both steaks were over cooked but still tasted really good. If not I would have sent them back. The Baked Potatoes were good too. Food was great we really enjoyed it. Waitress wasn't overly friendly but she was ok.. Would have given more stars but if you serve steaks you should know how to cook them. And the salads should have been included in the over $30 price tag per meal. It was over $80 without tip for 2 steaks, 2 baked potatoes, 2 side salads and 2 waters. I'd love to come back but for the price point we probably won't. I'm guessing that's why on a Friday they were pretty empty. read more

Located in a stand-alone building in a newer retail area, it's pretty easy to find and they have plenty of parking. A good portion is adjacent to the building. The rest is across a traffic lane, but the only traffic is from other Aubrey's customers. There is handicapped parking right in front of the door. I was part of a larger party, but we were given seats at a large table right away. Seating is a mix of tables and booths, and they seem able to accommodate large or small parties. I noticed the background music volume was higher than what I consider comfortable ambiance level. Our server took drink orders as the rest of the party arrived and we held off on ordering food until everyone was there. The menu is physically large, so it takes up a lot of space on the table. The menu descriptions are clear and detailed, so you can get a good idea of what you are ordering. Our food took maybe 30 minutes to arrive, but it all came out within about five minutes. The Thunder Road burger was cooked perfectly, the bun fresh, and the meat tasted great. It comes with tobacco onions, homemade pimento cheese, and jalapeno peppers. Tobacco onions are crispy onion strings, and my sandwich had a pile of them, at least as thick as the burger itself. There were enough jalapeno peppers to cover the meat in almost every bite. I really can't speak to the pimento cheese as there was so little added I had to search to find it. I did see a couple pimento pieces, so I know it was there. I ordered steamed broccoli as my side. I received two stalks of broccoli, about half of each was the actual stalk. It was really soft and almost mushy. Our server was very good. Dealing with a large party can be a challenge but she did very well. Things got a bit slow at the end of our meal, but business had picked up, so she may have been working other tables as well. The burger itself was really good, but the additions called out in the menu were not up to the level of the meat. The side of broccoli was not good, and the crowns were only about half of what was served. Service was very good and the atmosphere was fine. read more

If you're going to go on Tuesday, during trivia night beware! If you want to sit at the bar where is supposed to be open seating, bartenders play favorites and tell you to get out of seats, because they're saved for other people,. Manager said he talk to the bartenders but good luck for that, your best bet on Tuesday, or maybe any other night is going next-door to kickback jacks, see Carter or Mel, great bartenders, great food, no drama, and after Covid you want to go to a place where you're going to spend your money and get good service. Aubrey's has good food with the possible exception of prime rib. On the one occasion I had it it was quite mediocre. A chronic issue at Aubrey's is that the kitchen has no regard for how the customer desires their burgers cooked. This is quite consistent with them. I've lost count of how many times I've sent them back to be redone. At the very least you'd think the restaurant wouldn't want to waste meat like that. Customer satisfaction recognition needs to be introduced. Another problem is that customer requests for extras like butter and Worcestershire are way too often forgotten or ignored. That means you're still waiting to eat even after the meal arrives, meanwhile getting cold. I don't go to restaurants to be treated like that. read more

We visited this restaurant several years ago and the service and the food were phenomenal. However, this was not the case on our visit yesterday evening. The ambiance had changed from easy listening background music to loud classic rock. I love all forms of music, but it was hard to hear the server or my date. We waited with anticipation as we knew the food would be good. Again not the case. The best thing about the meal was the salad. Our steaks came were served per temp but there wasn't any seasoning at all. I tasted my wife's steak and it was bland. I ordered the Hawaiian ribeye and it did not have any flavor.
