It's by no means the cheapest or tastiest in le quartier chinois, but Saigon works perfectly in a pinch. Along the stretch of Avenue d'lvry where practically all restaurants are either Thai or Vietnamese, Saigon stands out for its spaciousness, a welcome sight for group loving diners.
Pho is going to run between 6-9€, which is the going rate around here. For anyone who doesn't live on Euros or Pounds, paying the equivalent between $8-13 might not sound terribly appealing. The good news is the broth is light and tasty, though I think the quality of the meat in the Pho Tai was cooked a little too thoroughly prior to serving.
The staff was polite and sweet and the menu was chock full of plenty of specialties such as banh beo, bo bay mon. Just knowing that alone is enough to get me to come back here when I'm back in Paris. Their cha gio was crispy but not terribly filling. The same would apply to the banh xeo, which is disappointing considering we're in France.
From what I've understood this is one of the longest running Vietnamese spots in the hood and if they specialize in other edibles beyond pho, I'm all ears (and mouth). read more
