This review was supposed to be written almost 1 full year back, sorry for the delay Anthony! The story: I was planning on doing a gaming desktop build last June 2017. I went online, ordered my components, then took the long drive to Micro Center to pick everything up. When I got home, I jumped straight into the building process. Once I had everything squared away, I was ready to turn my new machine on. Unfortunately, I was unable to get my new computer to post the motherboard screen on the monitor. I tried to everything to get it to work including completely rebuilding the machine. Still nothing... I was super bummed at this time now. The next morning was Sunday. I woke up early and initially drove to Frys in San Marcos to see what was up. The lead repair guy at Frys was super rude and wanted to charge me $90 to perform a diagnosis !!! I left very upset and unsure what to do and where to go... I went on Yelp and began calling around computer repairs in North County. Most places didn't answer as it was Sunday. I then called Computer Problem Solvers and they were so nice. If I recall correctly, they were very busy at their Encinitas location and would have had a hard time seeing me that day but I was fortunate enough to get a call from Anthony who was happy to look at the computer at his home office in Oceanside. I drove to Anthony's home office and explained the situation to him. I left my desktop for him and went across the street for a quick beer while he looked at the rig. Within 20 minutes or so, I get a call that the machine was now posting to screen and ready for pick up!! I was so extremely happy and relieved. I spent so much time and effort trying to get this thing running but needed Anthony to work his magic :) Thankfully Anthony and Computer Problem Solvers were open on a Sunday and willing to help my poor soul (and for a very reasonable price I might add). BEST EXPERIENCE WITH COMPUTER REPAIR that I have ever had!!! I chose to use Lab 5-8 because of their great reviews, and I am SO glad I went with them. I had called about 15 companies to see how much they would charge and what their process would be to recover data from my old crashed hard drive. Most companies charged about $100-$300 for a single hard drive and they kinda seemed shady about the fact that they still charged a big fee if they weren't able to get anything off. (Which made me feel like they maybe would just charge me and say it couldn't be recovered...) When I called Lab 5-8 they were very straight forward, and explained their process. They even said they would let me know if the data was even recoverable and if it wasn't, they wouldn't even charge me. Their prices were so much lower, I was able to have them work on BOTH of my hard drives that I have been holding onto for years. I worked with Melinda for the process, and she was great. She even called progressively to keep me updated on the status of the transfer. Once it all was onto my external hard drive, she showed me how to access the different files and they charged me exactly what I was quoted. They were able to recover everything I can remember that I have been missing, and I will go to them for any future computer or IT issues. Kevin was straight forward eh me on what they are able to do with recovering data on my hard drives (they even called me during the work to let me know one of the drives is problematic and would need further diagnostics at which point I told them not to hassle with it). If you want someone who knows how to get a virus outta your computer ... Dave at Computer Troubleshooters is your guy! I have a business laptop that I am very careful with as far as my internet usage and possible exposure to viruses. Unfortunately both my internet security and my Malware software did not prevent a recent attack. The last time I got a virus was well over a year ago, and the IT guy at work was able to clean and take care of it for me within 24 hours. Well, not so lucky this time. I gave my computer to my IT guy, and after 2 days of trying every method he knew how to do, and all the old tricks that had worked in the past, this virus was just to embedded. We took my computer to Dave, and in less than 24 hours, he had my computer back to normal and virus free! This is the first time EVER I have had to have someone else besides my IT guy at work work on my computer! But what my own IT guy wasn't able to do, Dave was! It is such a helpless feeling to not have your computer, and the thought that you might have to wipe your computer clean to start over (even if from a backup, that is one huge headache) ... but Dave saved the day, and my sanity! After returning home from a protracted hospital stay for open heart surgery I was trying to reach my laptop on my table and dropped it on the tile floor. Argh .... no boot :-( I called Computer Troubleshooters of Encinitas and young Anthony was there to receive my laptop. I was fully expecting multi-hundreds of dollars in repairs. Their service is personalized, honest, quick and priced well. I used to bring my computer in to Best Buy or Staples and that service would take forever, lacked that personal touch and seemed overpriced. These guys have helped me with my PCs (desktop & laptop) a few times with repair, upgrading and installation and both software and hardware needs. Many times if you bring it in in the morning, you'll have your computer back by the end of the day, wow! Often it's ready by the next day. I went to Computer Problem Solvers to recover data off of my dead computer (dead motherboard, hard drive intact). I was quoted $99 for this service, and asked if I had something to put the data on. I said that I didn't and they took my computer. It ended up costing me almost twice that because I had to pay $80 for an external hard drive to put the data on. The drive they gave me really does cost about that much on its own, so that's not really the issue I had. I just wish they had warned me about this extra cost when I told them that I didn't have anything to put my data on. Other than that, the service was exactly as promised, and I got my data and computer back the next day. I would recommend that anyone going to this business be thorough about pricing before you leave the computer there. The pricing isn't unreasonable, but nobody likes surprise charges. read more

Dave went way above and beyond the call of duty. When my MacBook Pro became unhinged... and so did I.... Dave took it in, comforted me and gave me an estimate. When it became obvious that there was more to the problem than he had anticipated, rather than charge me an additional few hundred bucks and up the price of the repair, he actually purchased a replacement MacBook Pro AT HIS EXPENSE. The shop has great service. I recently bought a computer off of eBay​ (bad idea)​ and discovered that it didn't work. I decided to bring my computer there for a diagnosis​ but didn't want them to fix anything (I was planning on returning it if there were​ any serious​ issues). This place is fantastic! I came in on the Friday after Christmas to have the screen on my MacBook fixed. I was only going to be in Encinitas until the following Wedensday so I figured it was a long shot to get it fixed before I left. I got a call from them on Tuesday afternoon saying they were going to stay after hours Tuesday night to get it fixed. When I went to pick it up Wednesday morning Dave explained to me how the whole machine was falling apart, so he used spare parts from a different MacBook he had laying around to fix some other issues. He also gave me some more RAM and did all this at no additional cost. I would absolutely recommend these guys to anyone who needs any computer work done. THE BEST!! I can not say enough wonderful comments about Dave aka Computer Problem Solvers. We were ready to give up and toss the "beast" , our sole business desk top/ lap top computer. The beast performed everything needed for our business, it was the heartbeat of our work.. and would be several thousands of dollars to replace. Fortunately, we found Dave .. He took a look at the unit and determined rather quickly it was the motherboard. He offered us various best case and worse case scenarios, along with an estimate of charges. Which by the way brought us immediate relief , took the stress out of our situation instantaneously !! Up until that point, it was a big HUGE UNKNOWN , an upcoming expense lurking over us! A very uncomfortable feeling indeed!! It unfolded and resolved as follows: 1. Dave called his supplier(s) to inquire about motherboard part 2. Dave was not satisfied with the pricing of the part.. he stated part + labor is costly, more than he had hoped for or anticipated. 3. Dave called the computer manufacturer help line, with his expertise, techy talk.. the mfg concurred 99% with Dave's diagnoses and provided him with their process of repair. 4. Dave performed an analysis and determined it was more cost effective to use the manufacturer to conduct repair. Talk about honesty and having our best interest at heart!! We would have never known differently! 5. Dave asked us for purchase receipt as unit was recently out of warranty (by 2 months),.. I like the way this guy thinks.. Dave commented: they can only say "no" or maybe give us a break on repair costs. 6. Dave backed up our precious data on his secure server, packed and shipped the unit to manufacturer. 7. Upon return, Dave inspected , verified unit was in proper operational mode. 8. We picked up the Beast and was back in normal business mode in under 10 days at a fraction of the cost of a new unit! We couldn't be happier with Computer Problem Solvers service, we feel an extra sense of security knowing Dave is as close as a phone call away!! It's almost like having our very own I.T. Department!! I was super satisfied, with the result! My MacBook hard drive crashed and wouldn't load and Apple said I may loose all of my data. Photos from the last ten years of my life. I was petrified The staff at CPS knew what I was going through and told me they might be able to recover my data. After a few days I got a call back. They installed a new hard drive and recovered all my data. The whole thing cost $333 included the new hard drive. Not cheap, but certainly worth the data I may have lost. I have been coming here for years and was serviced quickly and at very reasonable prices every time with Dave's knowledgeable and personable customer service. We have 4 stores in a high tech industry (retail hearing aids) with many computers that need to perform reliably. No matter what issue I threw at Dave, he handled it and saved the day! Now since he retired, Eric and crew seem to be carrying the torch with the same great service and knowledge. I had an old laptop with Vista on it that had sat in a drawer for 10 years that I recently blew the dust off of and fired up only to find that it could not connect to the internet! And since I could not reformat the drive due to licensing software that I would lose access to, there was nothing to be done except replace the computer. Even though they spent the time diagnosing, there was no charge and they even provided the licensing company proof of their diagnosis so that I could proceed with the proper licensing of the new replacement computer. Let's be honest. It's not that often you need to bring the computer in for repair, but when you do it seems like the biggest inconvenience in the world. Not only does it cost half of what you originally paid, but they usually have to ship it off to some obscure part of the world, where it takes weeks to fix. For the first time I can honestly say, it was pretty easy. Kevin has a great deal of knowledge and was able to narrow the possible errors down while over the phone. I brought it to his place that day and he started working right in front of me. He identified the problem, told me what I needed to accomplish the task, and the problem was solved as soon as I got him the parts. The first time I needed help was when the video card on my 5 year old desktop went out. Dave not only solved that problem, but he fixed something in my fan so it stopped making so much noise.
