    Soup with duck
    Skyler W.

After a beer in the center with a friend, the wife and I decided to grab a bowl of noodles from Au bon bol, which has a reputation of being an authentic noodle spot. Having lived in China, I always have high expectations for Chinese food, especially here in Belgium. I gotta say though, Au bon bol is spot on. I ordered the noodles with the duck, the wife got the noodles with the beef, and our friend opted for the soup with duck. The duck was really great. Crispy skin, on a pile of noodles that tasted like the noodles I'd've gotten back in China. Sure, the place is a hole in the wall. There's only like, three members of staff, maybe four if there happened to be a dishwasher hidden someone in the basement, and they're always running frantically around. Expect to wait for a bit before the recognize you're there or give you a menu, or take your order. They also use a microwave for almost every noodle and rice dish... Not sure what that's about, but it didn't seem to effect the quality of the noodles. Order the duck.

Multiple apps, I don't remembered what we ordered but everything was delicious!

The restaurant was very crowded and hot, however it was worth the wait. The food was delicious. We ordered multiple appetizers and the noodle soup with chicken. The chicken was katsu style, homemade noodles and broth. One of the best soups hands down. Please visit this restaurant. The staff is very nice. Limited English speakers, but you can work throught it. The pictures on the menu are helpful

Au Bon Bol is a literal hole in the wall just around the corner from the Brussels Marriott Grand Place. Food: If you're looking for hand pulled noodles, this is the place. Don't bother with the 'dim sum' or 'dumplings' or anything that isn't noodle related. The noodles are made fresh right as you enter the building. The noodles are thicker than most places and is served swimming in a nice hearty broth. I had the wan tan noodles and there were 4-5 largish wan tans (made with pork/beef) floating about. The stir fried noodles were oily but delicious with the sweet sauce. Service: Abrupt but not rude. We sat upstairs which has more tables therefore you're sharing one waitress with at least 16 tables. It's much more cosy downstairs with 4 tables and a bar that overlooks the soup production space. Cost: One wan tan noodle soup, one chicken stir fried noodle, a Coke Zero and a water ran us €27. Bit on the pricier side of Asian food, but it's central Brussels so... Overall: I'd give this 3.5 stars if I could but Yelp! don't play that way. Decent food to help warm you up on a rainy day. Usually packed to the gills and there's a line outside for dinner. Cash AND cards accepted.

Well, for Belgium, it's five star says our Bruxelles native. Well executed Chinese food on par with NYC or San Francisco, but not the fancy high end type. It's a yummy hole in the wall place. Noodles definitely are a must. The dim sum was good as well. Service? Well, we were served 22 minutes after we were seated. Getting a bill? Well, that's an exercise in chasing the boss down. Very, very busy place. So you might have be patient at times. Worth the wait.

    Fried noodles (Artisan) special

I'm traveling for work and stationed in Brussels, Belgium for about a month. Thank goodness for Yelp! Read this review and brought my two co-workers here on a Friday evening. The owners are Chinese and the place was packed and we were lucky to have a table open when we arrived. The noodles are made from scratch and they are made to order. My coworkers got fried noodles with chicken and seafood or beef. You will want to get the Artisan noodles which are the fresh, made-to-order noodles. The noodles had great flavor and excellent texture. I ordered the combination noodle soup which came with everything (chicken, duck, seafood, beef). Great flavor and excellent noodles. Also ordered the chicken skewers appetizer which was OK. If you're craving authentic Chinese noodles (soup or fried), this is the place to go in Brussels. I will be back here for sure!

I was really surprised to find this place so close to all the tourist stuff in the middle of Brussels, definitely a pleasant surprise! You can't miss them making hand-made noodles in the window. The food was pretty authentic, really good beef noodle soup. The xiao long bao were decent as well, the casing good (I hate it when xlb have too thick or too chewy casing), the meat was tasty, but there just wasn't enough juice pork broth inside. They also didn't give us any ginger and only a small bowl of black vinegar. Overall this place has great food and really cheap prices for this area of town, definitely stop in if you're in the area.

Honey pork noodles chef's sauce 12,90€. No bueno

This place is supposed to sell fresh noodles... well yeah there's the woman at the window showing she's making fresh noodles so lots of people just stop at the window and watch her but ordering food here is crap. I had the noodles with honey pork chef's sauce (super sweet) and before serving it, it went to the micro-wave -_-' I mean "are you serious?!" So food is just warm not hot. I barely ate my dish. Pretty pricy for a micro-waved dish (12,90€) Anywayz, not coming back ever again. You'd better go to any other restaurant nearby, must be way better than this "special fresh noodles" place.

By the Bourse, you'll find a small Chinatown with various Asian restaurants. Au Bon Bol is one of the more popular ones. You can watch them hand-make the noodles through the window. It's a small restaurant, so be prepared to squeeze in. The customer service isn't the friendliest, but it never is in places like this. We ordered the soup dumplings, Vietnamese loempia, and curry triangles to start. The soup dumplings were just regular dumplings and very disappointing. The curry triangles were mediocre. The loempia were the best of the three. For main dishes, we ordered duck with orange sauce, beef noodle soup, and stir fried noodles with shrimp. The duck was good, but the sauce was too sweet. The stir fried noodles were below average. The beef noodle soup was good. The noodles were clearly handmade and chewy, but there wasn't enough beef in the dish. Overall, the food here is average to below average. We paid 55.50€, which I think is a little too much considering the quality. The only thing worth getting here are noodles.

Amazing I got the fried noodles I am sooooo happy the noodles are heaven sent! I must say they're the best noodles I have had in a while. The beef was tasty as well!

Simple broth. Tasty fresh hand pulled noodles. Crispy chicken. Pretty good portion size. Perfect for a damp or rainy winter day. This place is so close to the station Bourse and there is a Asian grocery store down the street as well. I think I stumbled upon an Asian enclave. Fairly inexpensive casual place.

I'm not sure if the food was worth the 40 minute wait, but it satisfied the craving. We had the steamed pork dumpling. This was pretty meh - you could get similar quality in the freezer section. We then had the black pepper chicken. I was thankful for the huge portion but it was pretty salty. It definitely needed more than the bowl of rice it came with. Finally, the best dish of the night was beef chow fun. I didn't have high expectations for this one but it tasted pretty close to the ones at home in NYC, with plenty of wok hei. I'd definitely recommend this dish and if I were a betting woman, I would guess that their other noodle dishes might be pretty good too, so maybe just stick to those.

We initially wanted to eat at the place next door, but for whatever reason it was closed. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by a woman who I can only assume was the owner. She asked us how many people, I told her 2, she pointed at an open table and we sat down. After browsing through the menu for about 10 minutes, we were ready to order. It took her another 10 or so to stop at our table. The restaurant was busy, but not to the point where she didn't have a spare moment to stop at the Vietnamese and Chinese customers to talk with them...which she did. When I ordered, I pointed to what I wanted (#3 phô with beef balls and tenderloin), and as I flipped to the back where the drinks were located, she slapped my hand and scolded me in French, I'm assuming saying something along the lines of, "I couldn't read it. Wait!" She then flipped the menu back to the page where the phô was listed and wrote down my order. She asked if I wanted a small or big, I told her petite (small). After taking my friend' order, I also asked her for an orange juice, which she brought right away. Probably the only positive thing I can say about this entire experience. We waited patiently for our food, and I noticed that all the other customers who ordered phô had received a plate of fresh vegetables, which is customary, yet I hadn't received anything. When the food finally arrived, my friend politely asked her for more of the hoisin sauce because our bottle was practically empty. She scolded my friend and said that the sauce was only for phô dishes and she would bring more sauce once we used it all. So that's exactly what I did. No surprise she never returned with more sauce or a new bottle. We began eating and as I pulled the meat out of the bowl, I noticed a hair sandwiched between the layers of beef. I was already a few bites in but immediately spit out what was in my mouth and didn't touch the rest of the meal. My friend also commented that her food was mediocre as well. When she finally noticed that, although our bowls were quite full, but we weren't going to eat anymore, she finally brought the check. She had charged me for a large bowl of phô and not a small like I had ordered. At that point, we were just fed up with everything about the entire dining experience and paid exact change just so we could leave as soon as possible. I would NOT recommend his restaurant. As a starter, we had a spring roll; a cold one, wrapped in something resembling cling film that you wrap your left-overs in. This was pretty tasty though. I should have gotten several of these. The worst thing was that the lady, probably one of the owners but also a waitress, was freakin' rude! I put soy sauce on my food and she yelled at me, telling me I'm not supposed to do that. I told her that when she buys me the dish, then I will eat it the way she wants me to. Also my friend's order was wrong. She's a vegetarian and the noodle dish the lady brought was beef.
