Le Confucius is a hidden gem in Brussels. I'm not normally one to go out for Chinese when mussels and steak frites are the local specialty, but when your train arrives after most restaurants close, you broaden your aperture.
A short, 3 minute walk from The Hotel, Le Confucius offered the standard Chinese restaurant options at very reasonable prices. I ordered the sesame chicken and a a carafe if white wine while sitting on the back patio. Both were good, but the service is really what won me over. While trying to refill my water glass, the waiter knocked the carafe into my lap, an honest mistake that fortunately happens with white wine rather than red. I assured him that it was ok and asked for some additional napkins. The owner/manager then came out and also apologized; she helped us move to a different table and then comped our wine.
Overall my experience here was excellent even with wine in my lap. Will definitely return again, and not just after other restaurants have closed for the evening. read more
