This restaurant is located 6 - 7 blocks from the Botanical Gardens subway / tram stops. The area…read moreimmediately around it seemed to have a lot of restaurants. We first tried to eat here on a Thursday evening, but when we arrived there was a 25-minute wait if you had not made a reservation. It was raining that day, so we opted to just find another place to eat. The following evening (Friday), we had a bit more time to prepare so we made a reservation with them at 6 p.m. The layout of the restaurant is somewhat unusual. You enter in a small space (which may have had a couple of tables at sidewalk-level, but I'm not sure). You then climb a half-flight of stairs up past a kitchen area to the main dining room. Here they had several tables along each wall extending towards the back, where they had an additional 2 - 3 tables. We sat in the back. If the weather is nice, they may have a couple of tables out on the sidewalk, but again I'm not certain of that. If anyone in your party is disabled, you may have a limited seating option. That wasn't an issue for us, though. Where we sat in the back, we got to watch them prepare the cocktails. The place was busy but our server kept checking on us. Our drinks came out fairly quickly. The entrees took a bit longer, but the timing was still reasonable. I got a noodle dish which was quite good. The portion was reasonable and I finished it. I think both the others in our party got soup-noodle combinations which they also liked. The place appeared to be a family-run business (potentially). The staff managed the crowd well. Though you need to plan ahead a bit, the meal here was worth it. If I were back in Brussels, I'd consider returning here for a meal.

I tried the fried butterflied shrimp as well as shrimp dumplings to start with and it was fantastic. The soups are amazing (Thai pho and Laska). Entrees are at the €8 range while the main dishes and soups at the 12-14€ depending on the "protein" (as they refer to it... being chicken or tofu or shrimp) chosen. Fantastic price quality. My favourite Asian so far.

There are many different sauces to choose from like lemongrass, sweet chili, soy sesame, hoisin and peanut sauce. For those allergic to peanuts most of the menu has peanuts in them except for the veggie versions. But don't worry, the servers are very nice and they know what to recommend. I know because I had to send back the cabbage (you see the peanut toppings) and the peking duck roll (has crushed peanuts inside too). I didn't realize there were peanuts. They were so kind to give me a replacement, Salmon Roll and cabbage without peanuts. The roll wasn't as delicious as the peking duck but I still liked it with some sriracha and soy sesame sauce on top. Overall, I loved the service. I am so grateful they were kind to me and sensitive enough about allergens. Gonna go back to try other non-peanut dishes. Or maybe they'll help me by making a typical dish minus the peanuts.

You look above and you see this beautiful mark: I assume it's Chinese (don't shoot me if it's not). The lights are dimmed to near darkness: if I were there only with my friends, I wouldn't have mind it, but when there are others around; the low-lighting makes you feel as if you're disturbing a couple's romantic diner: out of place... The music is Afro and yes, not having Afro music would be missing the mark; but I expected the fusion of the continents to be applied everywhere and in everything. Like I'm eating rice with a fork? I was ready to dig in with either my hands or chopsticks. The food, is good, it's tasty and nice... if you're not familiar with African cuisine. This is not a diss: I was fed Congolese food since the womb, so I do have high expectations. Altogether: Afrosian is nice, great even. Underwhelming in some aspects, but I admit that's the Congolese bias speaking. However, you'll be fine and I'm sure you'll enjoy. So go ahead and enjoy!

Totally crowd the night before which is a good sign. We took the Afrosian Mix 1 assortment as a sampler. Enough for three. The beef dish was more Asian with its ginger accent. The fried chicken was just like grandma makes in Louisiana! Salad, plantains, and African rice added to the mix.
