AMG in merced has moved next door to become Community Health Centers of America. I do not recommend going there. I have been in pain for months and needed an MRI. I kept getting denied by my insurance. My insurance kept requesting more info for the MRI. The NP D. Huizar I had seen never called my insurance to do a Dr to Dr call to get my MRI approved. I went to the office twice when rejection letters from insurance were received. The letters specified the info they needed and for my medical office to call them. I even wrote up a list of meds and dates seen for my medical issue to help her when she was to speak to insurance. She still hasn't called and now insurance has cancelled all mri requests for my issue and I have to start all over again. The front office staff had a hard time scanning my documents to be put in my file, she wasn't loading pages correctly. This place is not worth going to. read more

The PA is very nice, but all good Drs. are gone. The owner Doctor is very rude and controling, been going to Atwater Medical for forty years, but no longer. He makes it mandatory to make an appointment to see him before you can see your regular doctor, guessing to make more money. read more

I explained the window for effectiveness would have closed by then and the medication would be useless. They wouldn't budge. They're fully booked and would make no effort. Atwater Medical Group is NOT open on Saturdays, despite Yelp, Google, and the AMG's website suggesting otherwise. Needing medical care and driving to the location only to find the doors locked is disheartening. If I could give this place zero stars I would! Every time I have ever gone there for an appointment, whether it was for myself or one of my children, it has taken well over 2 hours to be seen. I once sat in the lobby for 2 hours, just to be taken to a room and wait another hour, and when I decided it was enough and I walked out without even being seen - no one even acknowledged me or said have a great day. I knew after a few months this was not the place for me and my family. And now (this is the icing on the cake people lol) they are trying to bill me for a phone call that I made over two months ago to request a prescription refill. I have been going to AMG longer than I can remember. Ever since Doctors Disbrow, Taggert, Nation and Carter(RIP) we're no longer part of the group the service has gone to hell. It's a shame that what was once the envy of local medical care has turned into. Moving to Merced made no sense and makes it worse. Having a PA or NP call to evaluate your health over the phone sucks. Atwater Medical Group has gone way down hill. Most of the good doctors are gone, retired, or only work when they want to. I was there in early April and had an appointment with a female doctor that hat such a heavy accent, I could hardly understand her. She had a Male in the room instructing her. She asked me to take a blood test and urine test. I had to come back the next day because the lab was closed. Even then, it took me way over a week to get the results, and they gave me some antibiotics. So I go back in Saturday and see a different female doctor. At checkin the assistant asks if I need any refills on my medications. I tell her yes that they all probably need to be refilled and ask her to have the refills sent to Express Scripts. Today I get a bunch of mail from Express Scripts telling me that my prescriptions cannot be billed because they do not have a doctors authorization. I called AMG 2 1/2 hours ago and asked how that could happen. They said they would call back, I'm still waiting. I am reading about people with long wait times, my longest wait time was 5 1/2 hours. They have gotten much better recently, maybe 10 minutes. read more

I have been a patient at Atwater Medical Group for 3 years now and I LOVE this clinic. All the staff are so friendly and professional every time I go there. I Love Love Love my Dr. Chaudhury so much! She is sweet, kind and caring. I've worked for doctors my entire adult life and I'm elderly and not one doctor I have ever met compares to Dr. Chaudhury. I lived in Seattle for 20 years and I really loved my doctor up there and I honestly thought I'd never find anyone as wonderful as her. Just got back from my appointment for labs and a brief consultation with the nurse practitioner. I was told the labs would likely be back before I left so they could be discussed. The NP claimed he didn't see them in the system, and sent me on my way. As I exited, the front desk told me they were available and the NP was still in the room I was in. He told me I'd have to make a new appointment to discuss the labs, despite the fact that he was still in the same room. Seems like a good way to keep billing your insurance to me. I used to have a better impression of your office prior to my husband almost dying of covid in January and your office telling him to stay home while he was in respiratory distress. Prior to your nurse telling me to feed him pasta and spaghetti sauce when his blood sugar was in the 400's while he suffered with covid. Prior to your office trying to require an appointment for every single prescription refill. Prior to my hubbys upcoming appointment for a blood test nurse wanted to charge him yet another co pay for another blood test for thyroid on the same day he tests, to a teledoc appointment was " necessary" . Prior to you trying to charge me twice for a sleep study in which was not even complete and it initially started over 6 months ago. I still do not have my mask. April 7 the order was supposed to be submitted however on April 22 I decided to follow up with apria healthcare and they still didn't have the order to get prepare my cpap machine. I sincerely hope that you can understand my frustration. Im just feeling like the only thing your office offers my family and I is a withdrawal from our bank account and a majority of the time the orders are sent in wrong, or not sent at all. Last week my hubbies blood sugar was off as he had to miss a dose of insulin because he didn't have the proper needles because the prescription kept getting written incorrectly. As a result those kind of errors effect his health. I was a New Patient in this office. I wanted to respect their time so I arrived 15 minutes prior to my appointment like the lady on the phone asked so I could fill out paperwork. I just needed a TB test for work and ended up waiting 1 hour and 30 minutes! Never making another appointment here again. I told the front desk I just needed a tb test and the medical assistant in the back. I don't know how they keep track of time in this office but it's definitely not working. I recently changed Insurace companies. Of course I would get sick right away and had to find care. Every person in the office was helpful. The lady that works the lab was awesome. My daughter (as my side kick) loved her. I saw the nurse practitioner and she was so sweet she even gave me a hug before I left and praised my daughter on her behavior. I have been seeing Dr. Yaqub for years, and I like him. But his staff sucks. Let me just tell you what I've been through this year... I went in because I was having anxiety, have always been forgetful, and it was getting worse. He tested me for ADHD and I scored as having high probability of having it. He said he'd refer me to a doctor who specialized in ADHD for further testing. A month went by, and nothing. I called the office at AMG to find out about my referral, and had to leave several messages with the referral department to get a call back. When they called me, they told me my insurance would allow me to just select whatever doctor I wanted, and to find a specialist on my insurance company's website. I didn't think this was right, but I did the research myself and found a specialist. When I called the specialist to make an appointment, they told me I had to have a referral from my doctor. I called AMG back to have them send the referral to the specialist I had found. It took several days and several messages to get a callback. When they finally called me back they said they had no record of Dr. Yaqub ever saying I needed a referral to a specialist, in the first place. At the same time my annual mammogram came due. They were supposed to refer me to El portal imaging for the mammo. Again there was a delay and I had to call AMG to get them to send over the referral. Again they told me to call El Portal imaging and make the appointment myself. I did, and when I got there, they had no record of a referral for me and would not see me. Both El portal imaging and I called AMG multiple times to get a response. The day before my next (replacement) mammo appointment, El Portal imaging called me and asked me if I had been given my referral to hand carry. I had not. They said they were going to call AMG and seek the referral, and asked that I do the same, so I didn't take off work again for an appointment they couldn't give me. Thankfully they were successful that time, but we shouldn't have to be so proactive to get a basic referral. A few weeks after I finally had my mammogram, El portal imaging called me saying the doctor wanted me to do a follow up ultrasound. I had the ultrasound, and now I'm being told the doctor wants a second, two dimensional ultrasound to look at the left breast only. No one has told me why. I called AMG yesterday, and even though it was during normal business hours, no one answered and I was routed to an answering service. I left a message, which of course no one ever returned. I called AMG again today, and no one there seems to know why I am having a third test related to breast screening. All they could tell me was the doctor wanted to compare my tests, but couldn't tell what he's comparing them to, or why. I want to know what he sees that is concerning him, and nobody knows. So here I sit, thinking I might have cancer and unable to get answers. AMG actually told me to reach out to El Portal imaging and see if they know why the Doctor who works for AMG and is ordering these tests, wants further testing. This is the last straw. I will see through this process, and no more. Liking Dr. Yaqub is not enough reason to put up with this. I swear I am cursed with lousy medical care. read more

At first I liked this place. My dr seems to listen and it's not too hard to get an appointment with the same doctor when you need. Unlike the crappy clinics around here. Unfortunately the rest of the office is super incompetent. Impossible to get ahold of the people that you need to have fill out paperwork. When you do you get some attitude about how your on the wrong extension even though there's only one extension available to go to the paperwork dept, then transferred to a voicemail. Don't come here if you want anything done on time. Oh and they rob you...35-45$ for every piece of paperwork filed. read more

Best advice: LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT MEDICAL GROUP! My parents have been using the doctors with this medical group for years. After my father was hospitalized twice I needed to start assisting with his doctor appointments and medical needs. Each time I have had to call or visit I am less than impressed with front office staff. They just don't seem to care about anyone. They aren't necessarily rude but they certainly were not friendly - ever. I feel like it is a true inconvenience for them to help; whether it's answering the phone or assisting the counter. Two days ago I took my father in for a follow up with his doctor having been released 2days prior from the hospital with surgery to leg and scrotum...having severe swelling. After waiting 1.5hrs in a regular chair in reception are with his feet down he started to swell and have severe pain. I asked the front desk how much longer we might have to wait in lobby as he was experiencing pain and swelling to legs & surgical site. I was told the doctor was just seeing his patients that were scheduled 2hrs before and then there were 6 patients to be seen before my father (even though I saw a walk in who was friendly with the doctor go in)...this would make him 3+hrs behind schedule! I have never experienced this! I explained to the front office staff our situation (even though I had talked with them at least 2 other times in person before we came to appt that day). One lady did work to get him moved to the hall! As the nurse was trying to take him to the hall NOT a room; I explained he can't just get up and keep moving, he has had surgery, we have waited hours....we either need to be seen or we need to reschedule this is crazy! I was calm - not sure how. After explains the story two more times I did briefly see the doctors nurse who tried to get us rescheduled to a morning appointment with no such luck. Well, we left...took my dad home, got him lunch and he slept for the rest of the day. We are now scheduled to be seen in 15min... Will let you know how that turns out. Honestly, if this was my doctor or my children's doctors office we would be looking elsewhere for care! Update 2/16/2917 this place still sucks on time management! Today's appt we have been sitting waiting for more than 2hrs and we are told they are behind another 1-2hrs before anyone will get into to see my father. read more

***AVOID THIS OFFICE AT ALL COSTS!*** Like another person said, this place is a joke and incompetent. Have been dealing with a workers comp case and they keep trying to deny me services when they've also said numerous times that i can be seen until the end of the month. Apparently that's not information that is being shared because everyone from reception to the Doctors to the x-ray tech are sayinf there's nothing they can do for me cuz they no longer accept my insurance. I have to tell all of them that I'm actually able to be seen and they then go find the one person that knows this to confirm I'm right. The God awful wait time is ridiculous! Even if you have an appointment schedule you will be waiting at least an hour to be seen if not longer. I showed up to my appt 30 mins early while the waiting room was empty thinking i would be in and out being that it was the last time i could be seen. Nope! I was there for over 2 hours for no reason. Nothing was done, my injury wasn't examine, and an x-ray was taken for no apparent reason but for the doctor to see how a specialist completed my surgery. I went to Atwater Medical not feeling well and very nervous because of Covid-19, but the staff, Nurses, and Doctor all made me feel comfortable with there safety procedures and wonderful care. My needs were taken care of and I left the office feeling much better then when I arrived and still feel Great. Wait time is awful. EVERY TIME I go there I have to wait anywhere from 45min to an hour and a half just to be seen. I am a new patient and I've only been there 4 times. I wanted to give it a chance, but this is awful. I just don't understand. Why schedule an appointment when you never get seen at the time you book it? Also, when I finally saw my doctor, she rushed and gave me all these tests she wanted me to do and asked that I see her nurses station on the way out before I leave. They looked at me like I was stupid and acted as if they weren't aware of any of these tests. Now two of the tests have been "referred out" and I have to go to two completely different places to get these tests done. Can anyone recommend a different place that does family practice, is reliable, kind, caring, and does everything under one roof? I am willing to go to Merced or even Turlock. read more

If I could give a zero I would. I receptionist was really rude, and answered no to my question without listening. She placed me on hold and answered it to remind her of the question. She transfers me to the billing lady, and the person has the wrong information. I told her I had an authorization from my insurance to go to the urgent care, and with all lack of professionalism convinces me that it'll be a long wait and implied that my insurance company is lying about the authorization so that they can get more money. I'm surprised any business would run in this manner and this person has any type of certification. Sick or not, I'd rather not see anyone that's handles future patients in this manner. This place is ridiculously short staffed. Had an appointment at 12:30. It is currently 2:12 and I have been sitting in freezing cold room since 1:00. I have other places to be and it's as if this medical office couldn't care less. It's a good thing I'm not sick or anything! Geez, a person could just die sitting in a room and it would be over a few hours before anyone noticed! well it has come to that point to move on, my wife tested positive for covid 19 and I should get tested.. So I call Atwater medical to see to get it done, Well I was informed First I would have to have a video conference with the doctor, I told them , how about I drive out to there parking lot and the doctor can come out to my car, keeping a safe distance and see me face to face.. then swab my nose and everybody's happy, oh no that to easy and of course I was told no, it has to be by video and I inform him I had no idea how to I could do all of that, again I tried the easy way, how about call me on the phone and that to was shot down.. so I excepted it and now here we go, I told him my wife tested positive and they want me tested, they have my records right in front of them and my birthday.. they no my age and this shit could be faithful to a person of my age 63.. I was told the soonest I could get video call would be next Wednesday, 6 days, I could be died and that not joking.. I told him this and he didn't care at all, I hope you read this and I can only wonder how many other seniors you might have killed with that of your attitude, didn't even recommend another place read more

Doesn't matter if you have an appointment or not it takes at least 2-3 hours for them to get you in and front desk ladies are rude and unhelpful! My father was a patient here for many years, he would complain about the wait times but he liked Dr. Taggart and Dr. Disbrow and he had served in the Air Force with Dr Disbrow. As he got older and his health began to fail I would take him to Atwater Medical Group. The wait time was always at least 2 hours! I even scheduled him to be the very first patient to see Dr Disbrow ( I maybe misspelling his name) He was still 2 hours late! No excuses, no apologies. During the last month of his life, which they were well aware he would not survive much longer. Dr Tagart prescribed high doses of ibuprofen that immediately shut down his kidneys! When the ER Dr. asked why he was taking so much I explained that his Dr. prescribed it. They were shocked! They could not believe that any Dr. would give someone in such poor health a dose of ibuprofen that high! He asked for paper work for him to get a handicap placard, the Dr. said "of course you need one. Take this form to the front desk and they will fill it out for you so you can get one right away" The front desk called me and told me it was ready for him 3 MONTHS AFTER HE DIED!!! The bottom line is these people do not care about you or your health. They think your time is there's to waste. STAY AWAY! read more

The Doctors, Nurses, and other medical staff here are excellent. This review is based on the front desk. The ladys at the front desk are unprofessional and extremely rude. We had an emergency this weekend and called in to speak with the Dr. The girl who answered the phone asked if my last name was the same as the patients, asked for symptoms etc, then said she couldnt hear me and hung up...and didn't call back. I never gave her my name so they must have had caller id and she talked to me long enough to know it was an ergency but then just left us hanging. We decided to just jump in the car and head over. When we got there I ran in and got a wheel chair that I had to find myself. I brought them in and we were promptly ignored. Today I'm here with the same family member for a checkup. While I've been in the waiting room I've heard patients being treated rudely, that is when they're finally paid attention to. And to ice the cake someone clearly elderly called in on the wrong line and was made to hang up and call back. She did, again on the wrong line, and was told she couldn't be helped then transfered to someone else who refused to help her. Got dropped while waiting, then recalled....got put on hold and then after 10 mins or so shuffled to nurse who finally told me it hadn't been read yet. Told to call back Fri. when after another ten min hold or more, was told it hadn't been read yet. Told to call Sat morn because they would put it on Dr. Nation's desk to get it done. AVOID AMG WITH ALL COSTS!!! I can not stress this enough. Please read this as someone who has been wrongly accused of using drugs, unknown medical issue that was not taken seriously, and poorly treated by the staff as well as this poor older woman!!! I moved to Atwater from a big city. Waiting an hour and a half for a doctor was shocking to me. Then waiting another thirty minutes in a room to see a doctor! I don't know about y'all but I have better things I need to do. When I moved here I was fainting, randomly. The diagnosis I received? Pasta, stress of moving, and boys. I've been eating pasta my entire life, I've moved a lot I don't see how this move is any different, and I'm very picky who I allow into my life so that is not the issue. When I finally fainted in public that's when they got serious!!! After months(3) I got heart monitor. It was normal so they told me that I might have a tumor or my brain is bleeding. Completely terrified after hearing this I wanted to do anything to solve my random naps. This is where it gets upsetting but not the straw that broke the camel's back: I was scheduled for lab work. I walk in and sit down completely nervous because I hate blood. I get the bright idea "Oh I should pee before they call me" idiot. Here's what's strange. As I walk out of the bathroom realizing my terrible mistake I see the receptionist leaning to look at me walk lout of the bathroom!!! Strange right? It gets worse. They call me back, the woman in the lab is ignoring me till a polite gentleman spoke to her so she would acknowledge my existence. After she takes a blood sample she informs me that she has to watch me pee in a cup!!! I was utterly confused and embarrassed as I walked to the bathroom with her while people stared at me. I told her about my about my mistake so she took me back. I sit there a water bottle in hand trying to think of waterfalls. She then tells me she is going on her break and the other woman was to do the rest. After I thought I could do something and get out of there as quickly as I could I walked to the short older woman. She looks at me so angry and barks "Where is your ID" Confused I stated it was in my car not thinking I needed it for this. I asked to go to my car to retrieve it. She stares at me aggressively and makes a disgusted sigh then grunts "fine". I was so upset how I was treated I left and did not come back. When my mom received a phone call telling her I did not finish the lab work she finds out they thought I was taking a drug test!!! Even if I was I willingly gave my blood how does that make any sense?!? Now this story is the final straw!!!! I get a call to schedule my follow-up appointment. The lady on the phone was completely rude with a stuck up attitude. I simple asked her if the blood work they did get from me would be sent to a neurologist. She says "Actually just because you get bloodwork doesn't mean you get referred to a doctor." I was livid and snarky said to her "I know that I just want to make sure it is being dealt with because honestly your incompetence is getting on my nerves." Maybe a co-worker or Doctor gave her a warning look because she straighten that attitude up real quick. I go to my follow up, this is 2 months after this phone call, sitting in the waiting room. There is only my mom, an older woman in a wheel chair, and I. The woman talks to us and says how she's been sitting in here for four hours and is wondering if outside feels nice. I have a grandmother and that made me feel sick to my stomach having this woman sit here for four hours!!! You know what The receptionist told her when she asked if she could just leave because she's been waiting?!? "Oh just stay here you have already been waiting this long. It's better just to stay here." With an apathetic tone. To make matters worse I was called before her!!! I said passive aggressively to my mother while the nurse and receptionist was there to here "I don't like her being out there by herself she's been waiting for hours!" Guess it worked because she was finally seen! When I got into the room and was expecting to be sent to a neurologist with the appointment I come to find out that the orders that the doctor sent to the hospital was never sent!!! For entire year I was frightened by something I could or could not have! How could someone stand getting treatment like this?!? I don't know why I stayed with them so long! I switch to Urgent Care in Merced. Not only was I treated seriously from the beginning, I saw a neurologist within a month! Had an MRI and an EEG! The diagnosis? It's wasn't pasta, moving, or boys. I have a type of migraine that makes me pop, lock, and drop. I am completely blessed I did not have something seriously life threatening. From being terrified of my next black out and fainting 5-6 times a week to being normal again! Please for your health do not go there!!! read more
