We were referred to ACI by our insurance company for reconstruction after a flood since they are a preferred contractor with USAA. No one (myself included) should expect the 7 day Extreme Home Makeover in these situations. However, from the beginning with Mark who handled the overview of damage/ cost and then Jason, who ran the job, my expectations were exceeded. They completed the job start to finish in about a month. We couldn't be happier with the communication, process and the end result. The crews that this company uses are amazing!! Special shout out to Eddie the plumber and to Luis and Jorge, the best drywall/ painters ever. Just incredible people! Had some hiccups initially with ACI; however, it wasn't anything that couldn't be worked out. I worked with both Mark and John on a hot water slab leak that opened a can of worms, resulting in my family and I being temporarily relocated to a Residence Inn for 4 weeks. But if something I thought needed to be tweaked a bit, they were very responsive, attentive and above all else efficient in following thru until I was satisfied. I actually still owe them $$ - no such luck the bill doesn't just disappear but I'm happy to pay the company what they deserve! One more final payment and I'm done - Yahh! If you ever get the opportunity to speak with Joe, the owner, work with him, he was very reasonable, honest and caring. Overall, I recommend ACI for your restoration needs! So far dealing with this company I am highly disappointing. What Construction company doesn't at least work on Saturdays? My insurance company recommended this company and didn't find out til later we didn't have to use them.. It's been 2 weeks and the job will start tomorrow and they even ask for my co-pay of front.. As a contractor working for them it is a horrible experience. They are always late at least two to three months on each invoice paying out. The very same foreman's complain about leadership (Gabriel) claiming he doesn't know how to run a construction company. They constantly force contractors to cut corners in order to get lower prices. The short version: Had a flood, from our ins adjusters recommendation we decided 2go with ACI &what a mistake that was. At the beginning of the claim there were 2guys that came out 2mitigate the water. 1of them was extremely odd&made me feel extremely uncomfortable by getting way 2personal regarding his love life. Mind you, I didn't ask him his life story&I'm dealing with my house being ruined. I should've known at that point this company has no professional standards. Once the water was dried we had to deal with asbestos. It took 3wks for the asbestos to be scheduled. Then finally the repairs had begun. We were sent 2a store across the street from ACI 2pick out our new flooring. I was told there that the upcharge 4the laminate I picked out was 20cents/sqft &the carpet was within the budget from ins. Chris Diaz who sent us there was our superintendent. When we received the change order from him 4the laminate difference, we were shocked. He typed it up as 60cents/sqft extra for laminate &20cents/sqft extra 4carpet. Does he think I'm stupid?! We discussed the day I went down there it was a total of 20cents extra a sqft, NOT 80! He tried swinging 1by me at 4x's the cost, &when talking 2him on the phone about it(when I was actually able2get ahold of him) he tried talking around it saying that was the correct price &I had mistaken the guy at the store. I was not mistaken so I refused to sign the CO. A few weeks later he finally revised it b/c I didn't cave &he made it seem like he was doing me a favor when really he changed it 2what it should have been 2begin with. We did not feel as though our project was of high priority 2him. He acted as though he didn't know the specs of the claim of what was covered by our ins. 4example, there was 1bedroom that Chris said wasn't covered in our claim 2be painted so I asked him how much it'd be for them 2paint it since they had all their supplies there already. He said $495! To paint 1bedroom, I said no thanks b/c at that time I didn't have the bid. Come to find out that bedroom was covered &they were getting paid to paint it 2begin with! &they were getting paid around $230 to paint it; so not only did he try 2double the cost 2me for them to paint it, but it was already covered. Shady, shady business. A few other notes that are def worth mentioning: our door was left unlocked once, &open 2whoever wanted 2enter our house, with our belongings still inside b/c they didn't provide a "pack out." All our items were left inside(keep in mind the whole entire house was flooded) &got dusty, paint on them, &some damaged 2the point where they had 2be replaced. Another instance, the cabinet guy was at my house staining, saw us leaving with luggage, &I told him we were leaving 4the wkend &asked to make sure he locked up. He did lock up, but that does no good when our windows were left WIDE OPEN. For 3days, just thin screens were separating a potential burglar, all they had 2do was cut the screen or pull it off &they could've taken all of our belongings, luckily that didn't happen but it very well could of, &the mindlessness should not go unrecognized. In regards to the kitchen, that was damaged the most because that's where the flood started. They decided to cover up the water damage in our kitchen on the base of the cabinets by putting baseboards, and they "skinned" the lining of the inside, instead of removing them and repairing them the correct way as bid to our insurance company. Chris said to us he had "numbers" to meet. I'm sorry but that should not be the homeowners problem. But, unfortunately it became my problem since everything was half-assed. There is still a shelf that was poorly replaced, there is stain on our new tile in the kitchen by the baseboards, they never put our appliances back in (we had to hire someone to put them in), and last but not least, they screwed up the opening of where the fridge goes into. The top of the opening of the fridge was 7 inches wider than the bottom of the opening. Who does that? We had the same fridge the whole time, so there should've been no reason that it shouldn't have fit. They didn't measure it, &applied the baseboard at the bottom, so we could not pry the bottom of the cabinet to make the opening wider to meet the top. Once again, we had 2hire outside work 2fix their sloppiness. They also got paint on our curtain rods, tv mounts, curtains, a couple paintings, all the vents that they neglected to remove, etc. Fed up of trying2get answers, I went 2my insurance adjuster&received from them the scope of work/bid that was 2be done on our house. At this point, we were about 3 months in2our claim &ACI said they were almost done... well not according2the specs!! We had a great experience with Atterholt Construction. They were referred by our insurance company to put things back together after dealing with a leak in our house. They were efficient in getting back to me to set up an estimate- thanks Matt. They were great with communication and got things in motion quickly so our repair was completed in a reasonable amount of time- thanks Jason. The crew that worked in our house were super friendly, and hard working. Luis and Jorge did an excellent job putting our house back together. From paint to baseboards to dry wall- everything was well done. They also did a great job cleaning up after themselves when they were finished. I have worked with MANY remediation companies and I found Atterholt to be one of the best. They were extremely responsive, quick, and very easy to work with. They drew a little diagram to explain the area that was causing the problem. It turned out that I did not need extensive work and I appreciate that Atterholt was upfront about this---I have unfortunately been taken advantage of in the past by remediation companies. LOOOOOONG drawn out story short... Our insurance claim started March 2019 it is now 2 days away from August 2019 and nothing has been done. This business collected the insurance check and cashed it and have been "unavailable" or unresponsive for months. I see they have done this before according to another review here! The contractor we did see once named Bernie quit, and even he would only text us when contact needed to be made even though I gave them our direct office (daytime) number countless times. Brent Orzol was the other person in charge and he would make contact only via e-mail and then go weeks without responding to us. We now have to have the insurance company retrieve/re-issue the funds for our claim. No work has been done so they just essentially stole the insurance check. I guess that is good news for us, any work they may have done would be very questionable now knowing this. ACI was amazing from start to finish. Our insurance assigned us to ACI, and Gio Romero was the manager in charge to take care of our possessions after fire damage to our apartment. He was responsive and helpful, quickly making room in his schedule to meet me and answer my questions. The day we set for ACI to come, Gio and his team were punctual, kind, professional, and efficient. After their job was done, more unexpected problems came up. ACI was not at fault, and they could have told us that their work was done and we were on our own. Instead, they came alongside and helped us through the long process that followed, giving of their time and resources without compensation. This is the best company I've ever worked with. They were on it! They were Professional, on time and coordinated the environmental company, the test inspector and the construction. They sent the contents crew to help me move my things out of my home. We used 911 Remediation Company who failed 3 tests. ACI passed on the first time! They left my condo unlocked and said they did not do it. I was told that I am difficult. I was given only one place to pick countertop and the guy at Best cheer almost ran me over with a fork lift and had I not jumped I would have ate it. The rep that helped me rushed me at Best Cheer. Originally contracted with these folks on a homeowners claim and when I had the audacity to question the use of ONE COAT of LATEX paint to be applied over old school oil, and insisted that it needed to be done a different way (offering to provide all the prep work myself not at their expense!) they quit. Apprently ego is a very big thing for them. I am so sorry they are even on my insurance companies website as a recommened vendor. I was able to get my repairs done RIGHT with quality work in a timely manner, and in the end I am really glad that Atterholt quit. My house is back to normal, painted with good prep/primer/and quality paint.No paint job is better than the prep that goes into it and anyone who has ever painted should know that! read more

When I say they cut corners, I mean 50% they didn't do!! If you have mistakenly chosen to go with ACI, CHECK YOUR BID. They must get away with so much, collecting a paycheck from insurance companies on work they never did, and should've done. If they don't do it, then the homeowner is entitled to it. Finally, about 5 months later (the initial estimate was 2 months) David, the estimator/PM came and gave us the credit list for what they didn't do that I spent hours figuring out. It's what was fair and what should've been done. Although, hearing back from my insurance adjustor, there was a $4,000 discrepancy because ACI changed their minds on what they had done, even though I had the backup to prove otherwise. So pushed over the edge, I ignored it because I just wanted to put my house back together and was so sick of dealing with this nightmare. Now ACI has had the nerve to bill me for 2 months and they haven't even finished the one thing I asked them to, and I never even signed a letter of completion and their lock box is still at my house. DO NOT use ACI, they do all they can to get away with doing as little as possible and getting paid for more, if I can save one person from the nightmare I've been living, then reliving this awful experience by writing this has been worth it. read more

So I don't why this review is not in main review section. After a google search I see this happens to many reviewers. Apparently, yelp has an automated filter system that will delete reviews on the main review search if it's your first review, or your review does not agree with the majority of other reviews. My review is still there but it Is not considered part of the overall review. So it's really hard to fight a computer system, so my review on yelp is rated a below 3 since their filter system has major flaws and gives customers the impression of honest reviews. Anyways below is my review on Atterholt Construction & Interiors, Inc. I know not everyone would take the time out to write a review but I'm one of those people that appreciate good work and feel compelled to write this especially since I read the reviews below. This company met and exceeded my expectations. Trust me, I'm not easiest person to please, especially when it comes to my home. Finding your home in disrepair is stressful and heart wrenching after a fire. Vice President and Project Manager of ACI made me feel at ease by keeping me informed every step of the way. They responded almost instantly to any questions and provided me good advise. They replaced the flooring, removed asbestos, insulated the roof, electrical work, redid bathrooms, plumbing, dry wall, replaced windows, painted, replaced drapery, cleaned up and kept my home secure. It was a total renovation to restore my home. I was also impressed at how well they worked with the State Farm representative. The State Farm Representative was confident in their ability and estimation, that there was no dispute. VP made sure all repairs were approved. ACI worked as a team and have vendors (Pringles Draperies) that are fabulous. They did impeccable work with close attention to detail and met all of the official code requirements. This company, has made this tragic experience stress free. My home is back in its original condition, if not better. I strongly recommend this company. I know I made the right choice! read more

On April 29, 2016 I woke in the morning to find water pooled on my first floor bathroom floor. Water was steadily leaking through the ceiling light fixture so I ran to the second floor bathroom to find water streaming from a broken water pipe under the sink. I immediately placed a claim with my insurance company who assigned Atterholt Construction & Interiors (ACI) to the project. Katie & Sondra worked with me to have all of my bathroom, bedroom furniture and personal belongings removed so that abatement work could begin. Upon completion of the abatement work, I met with Chris Diaz, ACI Superintendent, who very methodically organized the repair work to be done. He was a joy to work with!! He did a walk through the affected areas with me explaining in detail what was to be done, patiently answering all my questions, while offering intelligent, and much appreciated, suggestions for how to improve the final outcome. He was extremely professional in demeanor, had a pleasant personality, and obviously knew what was required in order to get my house habitable again. He kept me informed every step of the process, and promptly returned my requests for a call back every time. I immediately felt comfortable working with him, and was confident that the end result would be better than I initially hoped for. Not part of his job description I'm sure, but he went as far as to (in a few words) hold my hand through the process. My late husband always handled such matters and I was overwhelmed with it all. Chris understood that and was very patient, informative, and respectful every step of the way. ACI staff were extremely careful not to damage or affect any other part of the house in the course of performing the repairs. They laid protective covering on the stairs. One worker even vacuumed my carpeted stairs and upstairs hall area!! :-) All garbage and tools were removed and taken away on a daily basis leaving all work areas tidy, which was much appreciated. I am so pleased and excited about the quality of work done! The end result is that I feel I have just remodeled and am so excited about moving back into what is a more beautiful bedroom. Because of Chris and all other ACI staff involved, what began as a nightmare for me had a very, very, happy ending. Everyone involved was very efficient, professional, and respectful from start to finish. I had such a great experience working with them that I will recommend them at every opportunity. Lastly, I want to extend a massive "thank you!!!!!" to Chris Diaz and the ACI staff, again, for all they did for me. Literally, every one of them, from the first to the last day, were absolutely wonderful to and for me. (Believe me, admittedly, I am not easy to please. Just ask my girls.) Again, every one of them were imnpressively professional, kind, patient, excellent craftsman at the job assigned every step of the way. All involved went above and beyond for me. Words alone cannot convey how grateful I am for having them be chosen by my insurance company to complete my project. Truly, I am so grateful. They absolutely deserve much praise and acknowledgement. Good work, good people, should always be acknowledged in my opinion. I am a very demanding, particular, sceptical, and expect the very best in such matters. ACI exceeded my expectations. The negative comments shown here are confusing to me because they don't reflect the company/people I worked with at all! It just goes to prove you can't believe everything you read here.
