So I developed a roof leak at our home and the existing roof was at least 25 years old so it was now time for roof replacement! I did my research and contacted the owner Troy whom was very thorough and informative during our conversation and he answered all of my concerns. The next step was to have my roof inspected, address any concerns and formulate an estimated cost for recommended repair. The estimator Dylon spent nearly 45 minutes performing a complete and thorough inspection. I have solar panels and gas lines mounted on our roof which complicated the roof replacement process. Good news is San Diego County Roofing (SDCR) partners with a great solar company and therefore de-activating the solar system, solar panel(s) removal, replacement and re-activation of the solar system is all taken care of through SDCR. Also SDCR warranties all work provided by their partnering solar company. I chose SDCR to replace my roof and what a great decision it was. I was updated and kept informed through each and every step of of the roof replacement process. I had some wood issues (rotting, worn out etc...) and the cost for the wood replacement was very reasonable. Tarps were laid out to cover our pool and artificial turf and after each day the residence was thoroughly cleaned of debris. Edgar the supervisor was always available whenever I had any questions or concerns. Also Dylon was always "Keeping tabs" with the progress and kept me informed of any issues and offered options when applicable. I felt very comfortable knowing that Dylon was always "on top" of things! Upon completion of the job, Juan invited me to view the new roof replacement and informed me of all that had been done and answered all of my questions and concerns. He even explained that my flat roof section of the garage had 2 sheets of "roofing" (know as "torch down") installed as compared to 1 sheet of roofing which most roofing companies provide, something I wouldn't have known. Everything was great and I was extremely satisfied EXCEPT one big problem! Apparently during the process of replacing my roof, a section of my newly installed artificial turf in the front of my house became damaged. I contacted Troy to discuss this big concern not knowing what to expect. After our discussion he instructed me to have the turf replaced and that I would be reimbursed for any and all cost. I had the artificial turf replaced at a cost of $2,200 and true to his word troy had a company check in the amount of $2,200 sent to my house within (1) week. So rest assured SDCR will give you phenomenal service. The company is professional, honest and transparent every step of the way from start to completion. This company has proved should something go wrong, they will make it "right". I highly recommend SDCR and I'm so glad I made the right choice! You should make the right choice too!

Despite not technically being liable for the original job, the owner Spencer showed tremendous integrity by agreeing to fix a leak discovered during the last rains. Adolfo worked on the repair with efficiency & was very thorough in ensuring the leak was fixed properly. They ran a water & moisture test to confirm. Spencer also gave us a longterm warranty on their workmanship should any additional issues arise in the leak location. Very impressed by the type of business this company runs & would highly recommend. I will personally shy away from solar/ roofing combo companies now bc many have high turnover rates given the reduction in California subsidies- sticking with a roofing first company like Smart Roofing would be the way to go.

Throughout the process before the roof even started, the company was very attentive and communicative. From Spencer coming out to inspect the property, to updates over the weekend regarding possible rain delays, I appreciated the effort to keep me informed. Lydia in the office was also very accommodating with several texts and emails prior to the start of the project. Once the project began, I received texts letting me know David would be the project manager while Carlos and his crew handled the work onsite. I honestly do not know if David was present on the first day because when I drove by the property, the crew was extremely busy working and I chose not to step into the work zone for safety reasons. On the second day, I did step onto the property to speak with Carlos and ask questions. Carlos answered everything I asked and helped me better understand the roofing process, which I really appreciated. Maybe this was a little unconventional, but because the house is currently empty and I live in another county, I personally brought both the deposit and final check to the office. I also stayed in town during the roofing project just in case immediate access to the property was needed. Everyone throughout the process was courteous and accommodating. I also felt the overall value of the project was fair for the quality of materials, workmanship, communication, and the upgraded roofing system that was installed. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I would have appreciated a final text or email from the project manager letting me know the project was officially completed. I spoke with Lydia on the phone the day I decided to bring the final check to the office, which was what would have been day 3 based on the original 2-3 day timeline they gave me, although the crew actually completed the roof in just 2 days, yes very fast for a small roof. Lydia was kind enough to call David while I was there to see if the project had officially been completed, so perhaps I may have jumped the gun a little. They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. He showed up exactly on time, explained their whole process to make sure I understood the scope of what needed to be done, and made sure to answer all of my questions, including some I thought of after he left. Their quote was on the lower end of the spectrum, but with an excellent warranty and references. We did end up with a $6k change-order for additional [hidden] damage that was not easily detectible during the initial inspection, but it was not surprising, as the roof had not been replace in well over 20 years and there were noticeable soft spots when walking on the roof due to rotten plywood under the shingles. Even with the change-order, the total cost was extremely reasonable, and came in under my projected budget. The work crew arrived promptly on day one and introduced themselves and apologized that it was going to be noisy/messy for the next few days. Every day, they cleaned up the trash very thoroughly and magnet rolled to make sure nothing was left behind. This was a big concern for me as I have two dogs that I don't want stepping on or eating debris. I was originally quoted 5-7 days for the entire project, and they finished in 4. The roof looks amazing. I would definitely recommend them, and if we decide to add solar in the future, we will go straight to them because the company has been phenomenal to work with.
