This was the second time I've used Monk's for painting projects at my home in Morris Plains, and…read moreonce again I was extremely happy with the results. The first project, several years ago, involved painting multiple interior rooms and crown molding. Most recently, I hired them to paint three new structural porch columns and my front door. While that may sound like a straightforward job, it really wasn't. Black structural columns are not something you see every day, so preparation, product selection, and attention to detail were critical to getting the look I wanted and ensuring the finish would hold up to the elements. Bob came out to provide the estimate. He was professional, easy to work with, and, most importantly, took the time to listen to what I was trying to achieve and the concerns I had about the project. He was also able to get the work scheduled within the same week. I worked closely with Ron, who I believe was the lead painter on the job. He was incredibly knowledgeable and detail-oriented. I supplied the INSL-X primer recommended for fiberglass columns and discussed paint options with him. He agreed with the approach and helped ensure the project was done the right way rather than just the fastest way. The work took two full days and exceeded my expectations. The crew took great care to protect my brand-new porch, covering the decking and railings thoroughly so there was no risk of paint getting where it didn't belong. What really stood out was the follow-up. Both Bob and Ron checked in independently after the work was completed to make sure I was satisfied. They also made it clear that if any issues came up, they would come back and make it right. The pricing was fair, the workmanship was excellent, and the customer service was outstanding from start to finish. It's refreshing to work with a company that still takes pride in doing quality work and standing behind it. I plan to use Monk's again next year for additional interior painting projects and would not hesitate to recommend them.

The first job was to take down and rebuild a very old worn out deck. The job completed on time and at the price quote. The craftsmenship was impressive. I then added the ronovation of a shed used for gardening supplies. Again the workmanship and finished product was outstanding. By this point I was completely confident in the quality of work done by IC Home Design. Next was taking up an old kitchen floor with several of flooring including old 4 x4 tile. IC Home Design quickly removed flooring and prepared the surface for new wall to wall tile which he also installed. I wanted the new kitchen cabinets to sit on the new tile. Ultimately he installed the new cabinets and finished off the kitchen install including new appliances, replacing a window with rotted wood and adding some additional electrical outlets. Next up IC Homes completely updated a secondary bathroom and then total renovated the master bathroom. Later IC Home found a floor refinisher to sand down the original hardwood floors and stain the floors which looked like new when he finished. All this activity took place while my eldery friend was still living in the home. Horia was very considerate of her living in the midst of all this mayhem and did little things to help her manage her way thorugh it all. I can't speak highly enough of the the quality of work done by Horia and his company I C Home Design. He is a true craftsemen who is a finished carpenter and knows how home construction should be done. His background includes new home construction and several cerifications that are important to home renovations. He is always a gentleman and a thoughful person. i you are looking for the extra low prices IC Home Design probably is not your contractor but if you want work that you can be proud of Horia and IC Home Design is a wonderful contractor to chose for your projects.

Mike, Joe, Charlie, and their whole crew renovated both bathrooms and converted our sunroom into a space we now can't imagine living without. From the very first estimate to the final walk-through, communication was outstanding. They take immense pride in their work, caught details we never would have considered, and offered suggestions that took everything to the next level. They started right on time and finished in under 6 weeks (would've been even quicker if our windows and vanities hadn't been delayed by the suppliers). The craftsmanship is flawless--every time I walk by the sunroom or step into one of the bathrooms I'm still in awe. It's honestly a work of art. By the end we were genuinely sad to see them leave. During the quote I was told that the awnings would be pressure washed prior to painting. They did not power wash the awnings just taped and sprayed. I was told by the front office that the job would take one day. It did not. The team showed up wonderfully on day one at 8:30 and got to work. Around 10am I saw them cleaning up some and was told they may be back later to finish. Not great communication. They did not do a great cleanup for the overnight. Maybe because they didn't know when they were coming back. Later that day I had to call the main office to be told the crew would be back the next day at 9:30am. The next day at 10:30 I had to call the office and ask for a second time if the crew would be back. They did eventually come back and finish the job that day. So I did have to take a second day away from work to accommodate the second day of work. I did feel there was a communication/language issue with the crew. Not sure if they spoke English. The one team member spoke broken English but the rest of the staff I am not sure if they spoke any English. The paint job was ok not perfect. I did find some sags and runs in the finish. The cut in lines are wavy not straight. The crew left me the left over paint for touch ups I assume. They did not say good bye when they finished. The crew did not take the time to say hello when they arrived and did not bother to say goodbye or show me their work when they left. Sorry Oasis - this was a test.
