I got the cinnamon raisin bagels which were decent but lacked a distinct raisin flavor. I also got the Jewish apple cake that needed more icing on the top to help provide more flavor as it lacked in overall apple taste. It was basically a beach house to ourselves, being thoughtfully equipped with a full kitchen with dishes, cook ware, cutlery, cooking utensils, a coffee maker, stove, oven, microwave, full-sized refrigerator, dish soap, and more! The rooms also have an ironing board, full sized closets, window unit air conditioning in each room and throughout the cottage. In addition, the two bathrooms were extremely convenient. There were complimentary shampoo, conditioner and soap as well as multiple sets of towels, hand towels, face/wash towels, and a bath mat. The lighted fans did not seem to work, but there was air conditioning so it was no big deal. The cottage also had a nice bar height counter, normal height dining table with chairs, and a cozy living room with a pull-out sleeper sofa with an additional full sized/double mattress. The beds in each room were comfortable and were medium firm. There were also multiple pillow types, ranging from soft, flat to firm and more fluffy. The cottage is across the Olympic sized pool. The pool has nice lounge chairs and a complimentary pool towel service. Life guards are on duty. The pool has a diving board at the 10 feet end. With your reservation, you receive parking passes and free parking in the lot behind the cottage. The private lot could fit up to 4-6 cars. However, they also give you a parking fob in case you need more parking in the gated parking lot across the street. You can ask the hotel front desk to give you one free standard sized ice bag per day from their locked ice storage or bring the bag back for refills. There is a lively bar behind the hotel front desk area called Coconuts. The bar has bands that play live music every weekend. They have Happy Hour specials, so be sure to ask about them. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Check-in is at 4pm. Check-out by 11am. Check-in and check-out were very easy. Other cottage amenities: dishes, bowls, cups, mugs, baking sheet in drawer below oven, cook ware (pots and pans), cutlery knives, coffee maker, can opener, cutting board, dishwasher, full sized refrigerator, dish drying rack (under sink) and toaster (in cabinet). There is a landline phone on the side of the counter as well. We loved everything about the cottage, hotel, and amenities! The beach is only one block down the street. I would highly recommend Castle in the Sand Hotel! The cottages are great for large groups or families.

Upon check-in, my son jumped on the bed and discovered it was wet and smelling. When we pulled back the comforter we found what appeared to be vomit on the mattress -- completely uncleaned from a prior guest. We filed a formal complaint. It took over 24 hours to get any response. Management offered a one-night refund and a future discount, and when we requested a full refund for an objectively unacceptable situation, they refused. The lack of basic cleanliness combined with the dismissive response from management tells you everything you need to know. Spend your money elsewhere.

Parking is pretty tight, so be careful if you're driving a bigger car. The two beds were comfortable, and the AC worked great no complaints there. Now, the bathroom door was definitely one of the more unusual aspects...like a rolling gate that doesn't stay on its hinge. It offers zero privacy since you can hear everything, so it's better suited for couples than groups or families. The staff was very friendly and kind, which made the stay nicer. Breakfast was simple but decent with oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, apples, and juice served until 10 am. All in all, it's a solid choice if you want a clean, affordable place with a great location. It is nestled in a nice, quiet neighborhood with a noise ordinance that begins at 10pm. It has a 21+ guest age requirement, which was perfect for all of us staying there for a wedding. The staff is so accommodating and friendly. Special shout outs to Kyle, the reservation desk (and daytime manager, I believe) and to two of the best dining servers, Jessica and her daughter, Autumn. Their attitude and pleasant conversation made the start of our day so much more enjoyable. Jessica even made a special dinner plate for me to take up to the room for my traveling companion who had a wicked headache one morning. So appreciative of both of them. Speaking of dining, I loved the chef breakfasts that were prepared each morning. You received a menu on the table that specified the chef's selection that day. There was also a side table of fresh fruits, breads and juices to enjoy. You could then order a boxed lunch to be picked up by noon based on your selections from a separate menu listing. These meals were inclusive in your daily room charge. So convenient! Finally, they even had a "tea time" spread between 3-4pm, consisting of various teas and cookies, also complimentary. The hotel was completed in 1904 and has an old world feel to the entire inn. There is also a Guest House with several rooms just a short walk from the main house. Televisions are located in Room 12 and the Guest House only, as the establishment wants you to enjoy a relaxing stay where you can escape from life's hustle. Check out their website for descriptions of all the rooms, including ocean views, and other amenities at the Addy Sea as there are plenty of opportunities to enhance your stay. I arrived early to the beaches and called to ask if I can park on their lot even though the room was not ready to check in until later that afternoon and the staff said it was fine. This is cool and from there on, things turned down south. I got to the lot and noticed that the parking space is tight and very limited. Apparently, they have another parking area off premises which is good but who really wants to walk. When I booked the place, I specifically request to be on the first floor. When I arrived, I noticed several people were checking out but the staff gave me a room not on the first floor nor second floor but third, which is their highest floor. I asked about my request and the staff said no one is checking out on the first floor and that I had was the only available room. The staff wasn't nasty but she wasn't kind either and really did not bother checking her computer system or at least try to look like she wanted to help. When I got in the room, everything was really outdated. I guess the tale tell sign was when I was given two keys, not key cards. Who still uses keys at a motel/hotel? I had no paper towel by the kitchenette sink. There was a sign that mentioned renter needs to clean their own dishes and stack them back as the cleaning staff doesn't clean dishes. Of course, there's no dishwasher. They left two fly swatters in the room...gees, so now I'm expected to use them. The bathroom towel are not so clean. My bedsheets were a bit damp so I had to call for a new one. The wifi is horrible and really it is a joke . Thank goodness my cell phone LTE works fine. I asked to check out a day earlier and wanted a refund. Another staff (not the same staff when I checked in) flatly said no refund. She would have to talk to the owner of a possible credit for future stay but can't guarantee that a credit is even given. Of course, she never bothered asking the owner or at least, never bothered getting back to me on the matter. They have nothing on their website on about changing the lodging stay. I'm reluctant to even give this place two stars but they did let me park there before check in and the location is not too far off the boardwalk so distance wise to the attractions are fine. However, with so many other places to stay, I will recommend to look into other places.

We chose this hotel because we wanted to have a comfortable and enjoyable experience while celebrating a special occasion. Footbridges over the wetlands connect both hotels to Fager's Island Bar & Restaurant. The Property is off the main streets, secluded but close enough to enjoy.
