This review is based on the bakery portion not the inn itself. The entire place is gluten free which I love. However I was left disappointed. We arrived right when they opened and had to wait in line to get inside. A lot of frozen choices were picked over and they really did not have many dairy free options. I get more Gf/DF options at non dedicated bakeries back home. The prices were the other issue. As someone who's been gluten free for numerous years I expect to pay more but would never pay some of these prices. It was over $30 for a tray of 4 frozen cinnamon rolls. I got the cinnamon raisin bagels which were decent but lacked a distinct raisin flavor. I also got the Jewish apple cake that needed more icing on the top to help provide more flavor as it lacked in overall apple taste. I appreciate the effort of having a dedicated gluten free space but for the pricing and overall availability of items I can get more at home read more

Tasty Pastries at the side of the house. It has a lot of gluten free options and plenty of seating. There was a small wait but well worth it! My wife loves gluten free places and this one was at the top of her list! I will be coming back when I visit ocean city next year. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Inn Berlin for my birthday and it was such a great experience. Everyone was so friendly, the decor was lovely and the meals were beyond expectations! It's truly a rarity to know you don't have to worry about finding breakfast when you have celiac disease. The attached gluten free bakery meant we brought home a bunch of delicious treats too. It was a quick walk to Main Street where there was a weekend street fair with live music so we got to explore the town a bit. We were drawn in by the gluten free food and proximity to Assateague National Seashore but I would definitely put the Inn Berlin on my list to stay at again! read more

Absolutely adore the Inn Berlin, any and all season they're open. We went right when the area (Bethany, Rehoboth, Ocean City, etc.) became off-season, which I prefer, when things are a bit quieter and not so touristy. Definitely check out Main Street--it's a walkable distance and I loved strolling and checking out all the stores and local library. You can tell everyone is incredibly neighborly there. I had seen the Inn Berlin pop up on Instagram, but once I learned it was a gluten free establishment and Maya (the innkeeper) opened the boulangerie, I knew I had to check it out. The boulangerie is open for pre-orders every week so even if you don't stay at the inn, you can grab something! I ordered a few items and Maya accommodated to hold everything until my check out time, even adding in a few treats. So moved by her generosity! Breakfast was basically a three course meal (greek yogurt with fruit, frittata with bacon and veggies, brioche jam pastries) and it was so good and perfectly seasoned. Nothing was too sweet or too salty. You don't even have to be gluten free to enjoy the food. Maya did a really great job renovating the inn but holding onto the historic foundations of the house. As an art historian, I loved learning about the inn on the website--definitely check it out! There are a good number of photos that show how the house has transformed through the years. If you go to the library, literally right next door to the inn, they have a whole section on local history. Everything was quiet and clean, all the guests were respectful of quiet hours. Maya emails a questionnaire and guest manual with things to do/places to eat so that you can have an accommodating experience if you need/want to. I left feeling super well fed and rested! read more

My husband and I stayed here over Labor Day weekend.. I have been wanting to stay since it opened.. and when our Ocean City plans fell through, my husband booked at the Inn. Maya took great care of us, from the artisan breakfast AND picnic lunch for the beach, to all of the lovely treats - coffee, and GF snackies, and beautiful room. The town of Berlin is cute and quaint. The Farmer's Market on Sunday is a must.. and 10 minutes from the beach! I cannot wait to return! read more

My husband and I spent our anniversary weekend there. We loved the beautiful home and grounds. We barely heard a peep from any other guests through out our stay, despite the weekend being fully booked. Maya made us the most delicious meals, both breakfasts were amazing and we had arranged a private dinner that was out of this world. Maya was gracious and accommodating to any questions we had, and our conversations with her made our stay even better. The town of Berlin is adorable, and we were able to enjoy a morning walking around Assateague as well. Highly recommend, particularly for anyone with celiac disease or with food allergies as the Inn is 100% gluten free, and very knowledgeable about other allergies as well. We will be back! read more

An adorable inn that is dedicated gluten-free. While the property is comfortable, tasteful, and charming, what really sets this place apart from competitors is the phenomenal food, all of which is gluten-free!!!! I truly was overwhelmed in the best way. Each of our breakfasts started with a small cup of Greek yogurt with fruit (optional honey) and a baked good or 2, along with tea or coffee and fresh squeezed juice, then the main was a side salad and quiche one day and eggs, chicken sausage or bacon, and a baguette the next. Truly incredible and can't wait to come back. There's a total of 5 rooms, each with a double bed, a sitting room downstairs, and seating outside including a fire pit--if someone were looking for a venue for a very small wedding, I imagine this would be a great option. read more

I drove down to The Inn from NYC for a safe and solo recharge after finding The Inn on a mindless instagram scroll. I have been living with celiac disease for 17 years This experience was like nothing else I have ever had. During my 48 hour stay, I felt like I was living in a dream! From the deliciously thoughtful breakfast, to the carefully curated packed lunch, to the safe in-room snack selection - I was blown away by the hospitality I was shown! Maya, innkeeper/owner/chef, is simply AMAZING! Not only does she WOW you at The Inn, Maya was prepared with recommendations for local eateries and adventures. I even got to walk into town for the Sunday farmers market. I can not recommend The Inn enough for a solo recharge. If you're thinking about it, the answer is YES! The Inn Berlin is quaint, comfortable and beautifully decorated. I stayed in the Peony Room, which is the largest room with a King bed and sitting area. The bay windows look out on the beautifully landscaped property, which is a short walk to downtown Berlin and other nearby conveniences. The Inn was quiet, and well-appointed with plush bedding, plenty of towels, snacks and a Keurig. Maya, the Inn owner, has found her perfect niche. I hope she has great success, as she is a natural at making people feel comfortable and attended to. And her cooking is- well - to die for! read more

We were looking for somewhere to celebrate our 36th Anniversary and after some searching chose The Inn Berlin. We couldn't have been happier with that choice. The Inn itself is beautiful, the grounds are impeccably groomed and welcoming, and the check-in instructions were clear and straightforward. The owner/host is also a treasure - helpful, responsive and personable (and a great baker/chef). Our room was perfectly comfortable and well-appointed. Lots of little amenities - a jar of freshly baked almond cookies was just one little example. The decor throughout was elegant; the pollinator bee theme was prevalent and a nice touch to complement Berlin's vibe as an emerging hub for innovative entrepreneurship and community. Breakfast was delicious. More freshly baked yummies (the host loves to bake) including a gluten free baguette that was marvelous - we've eaten lots of baguettes in France and this one was comparably delicious.Berlin itself is a charming small town, with easy access to the Eastern Shore - Assateague Island, Ocean City etc. We are looking forward to a return trip! read more

The Inn Berlin was all the things other glowing reviews have posted and more. While I don't have celiac disease, I'm careful about my gluten intake because of some GI issues. My husband and I love good food and were blown away by the amazing meals prepared by Maya, the owner/chef. The breakfasts were delicious and satisfying. We also had a packed lunch made for us but couldn't finish all of it so Maya kept it stored for us for the next day. We stayed in the Peony room which had a charming sitting area where we had coffee/tea in the morning and read on a rainy afternoon. Unfortunately, we had to cut our stay short because of a minor medical emergency. When I informed Maya of this, she prepared us coffee/tea and breakfast to go. We can't wait to go back! read more

My wife and I were celebrating our 40th anniversary and we decided to go to Berlin, MD for the weekend. Out of all the choices there, we decided to stay at The Inn Berlin and were not disappointed. The descriptions online were not as we found the Inn, it was so much more impressive. The property has been renovated into such a lovely place to stay, it was so relaxing and the food/breakfasts...absolutely superb! We had a problem with our HVAC unit, but Maya got someone to come out and fix it very quickly (on a Saturday!). The only thing that would have made it better is a fire pit/table on the patio. I have celiac disease, which makes traveling on vacation not much of a vacation as it involves lots of planning and anxiety in sorting out what I will be eating on the trip. This was not the case for our trip to Berlin, MD thanks to The Inn Berlin as it is completely gluten free!! The accommodations and food were absolutely amazing, and even more amazing, is that my husband (a non-Celiac) enjoyed it just as much! In addition to our stay (which includes breakfast), my husband worked with Maya, the owner, to set up a menu for private dining the three nights that we were there, including a birthday dinner for me. In addition, my husband added on the packed lunches package for our two full days there so we could have lunch on our day trips sightseeing. I didn't have to pack a cooler of food to eat (like I normally do on trips) and I didn't have to do research on safe places to eat (and deal with the anxiety that maybe they weren't so safe). It was truly a Celiac's paradise! But even more so, the hospitality and food were just spectacular. Our first night for dinner, my birthday dinner, we started off with a salad with delicious greens from a local farm followed by Surf-n-Turf. My husband and I agreed it was the best steak we have ever had, perfectly cooked! And the lobster was delicious. We finished off dinner with a delightful ginger snap cheesecake. Our second night, we had Spanish Tapas. My husband, who studied abroad in Spain, was especially excited for the Tortilla de Patatas, and it did not disappoint. I especially like the dates filled with goat cheese and wrapped in bacon, so, so good! Our last night, we had Italian. We started off with an appetizer of cantaloupe wrapped in prosciutto, a refreshing and tasty starter, followed by a delicious salad and pasta, half bolognese and half fettuccine alfredo. Then for the encore, a scrumptious tiramisu. Honestly better than the tiramisu we had in Italy; it was so good! Our breakfasts and packed lunches were just as amazing. I had the continental breakfast while my husband did Chef's choice. All of it was so good! I also really appreciated the packed lunches because we could go off and do anything, and I didn't have to worry about food, or put in effort to put something together. We could just go do what we wanted and have fun! The location of The Inn Berlin is also great! Easy drive to Assateague and Ocean City. Walking distance to downtown Berlin. Maya was super helpful in giving us ideas of things to do. We had a blast exploring the local sites. However, truly, the highlight of our trip was eating all the yummy food. Maya was so kind to us and truly took care of everything we asked for, making our trip so relaxing and enjoyable. We are already trying to figure out when we can come back as I think this place is going to become a semi-annual trip for us. read more

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Inn Berlin in early June 2021. We loved the Peony Room which had a generous sized, comfortable and chic sitting area plus a king bed with a fluffy duvet. We also enjoyed spending time reading and relaxing in the gorgeous living room and on the front patio in Adirondack rocking chairs. The decor of the Inn is a mix of beautiful antiques and modern, classy touches with comfort in mind. Maya was a lovely and gracious host and chef. The food was AMAZING. I'm gluten free and my husband avoids dairy but we enjoy fine dining and have high expectations; this did not disappoint. Eggs Benedict, luscious pastries, homemade granola, an extensive herbal tea selection (chocolate hazelnut?!) ... I could go on and on. And as another reviewer said it best, the most EPIC selection of GF snacks you could imagine (all included). We enjoyed exploring downtown Berlin, OCMD, and Assateague and just taking advantage of the amenities at the Inn while celebrating our anniversary with a couple nights away without the toddlers.
