Since the addition of the seasonal panels that Atlantic Awning has fabricated and installed, patrons and employees have had the opportunity to enjoy our outdoor seating area all year long. Not only are the panels well made and aesthetically pleasing, but they do a fantastic job keeping the area warm and dry in inclement weather. The panels are taken down in the spring and stored and protected by Atlantic Awning, and then they are re-installed in the fall. I paid Atlantic Awning a $2,712.94 deposit on August 27, 2025 for an awning totaling $5,425.89. Cheryl in the office was professional and the salesman came out, measured my deck, showed me catalogs, and promised installation in 6 to 8 weeks. Six to eight weeks came and went with no contact. When I finally got Cheryl on the phone in late September she said the crew was tied up on another job and would call back. They didn't. The next time I got through she said they had the awning but the weather was getting cold and they would prefer to install in spring. I agreed. I called back in April. Left a message -- no callback. Called again, finally got Cheryl: people were sick, the crew was on a big job, somebody would call by Monday April 27. Nobody called. I left another message later that week. Silence. It is now May 2026. Atlantic Awning has had my money for nine months. I have no awning, no install date, no refund, and no returned phone call. After this happened I went looking for online reviews and found the same exact pattern -- deposit cashed, install date pushed, calls stopped getting returned -- has been happening to Atlantic Awning customers for over a decade. Extremely disappointing experience - no site visit, months wasted, and order canceled due to their own oversight I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Atlantic Awning absolutely warrants one. I contacted them on September 3rd to fabricate and install a metal standing-seam awning over my front door. I provided them with an AI rendering as an approximation and gave them the rough dimensions. They then asked for an actual photo of my house, which I also provided. Based on those materials--NOT an in-person site visit--they asked me to choose the material and color so they could prepare a quote. On September 8th, I received the quote, and on September 9th I formally placed the order and paid a 50% deposit. They confirmed my order, told me they were putting it into production, had me choose a finalized color, and stated installation would be in 10-12 weeks. From that point forward, the communication went downhill. Throughout October and November, I followed up every couple of weeks to confirm the installation date, as I had other contractors scheduled. Each time I was told they did not yet have a date. My last follow-up was November 19th. Then, on November 21st, out of nowhere, I received an email stating that after "completing a detailed review of the installation area," they determined the clearance was too low for the metal awning and that they could not safely proceed. The most frustrating part? Atlantic Awning NEVER once came out to my home to conduct an actual site assessment. Their so-called "detailed review" was clearly done using nothing more than the photo I provided. Had they performed the most basic in-person evaluation--which any reputable installation company should do before accepting a deposit--they would have known this months earlier. Instead, they wasted over two months of my time, held up scheduling for my other contractors, and only at the 11th hour told me they couldn't do the job. Their "solution" was to offer a fabric awning, which is completely unsuitable for New England winters. I declined and requested a full refund. To their credit, they did eventually issue a refund check, which I received on November 26th, but the entire situation was avoidable. Bottom line: * No site visit--ever * They accepted a deposit and claimed production had begun without verifying the installation feasibility * Two months of delays with zero proactive communication * Order canceled only after I repeatedly followed up * A frustrating, avoidable waste of time I cannot recommend Atlantic Awning based on this experience. Any company that fabricates and installs custom structures should be doing actual, on-site evaluations before taking deposits or promising lead times. Atlantic did awesome work for us, building and installing two standing seam aluminum awnings across the front of our store on Route One. Our store looks unbelievable and I can't tell you how many compliments we've gotten. It really dresses up the front of our storefront and this was a wise investment in our building. We considered canvas awnings because they are more budget friendly, but they start looking tired after two or three years in my opinion. Mark and the boys did a fantastic job and got it done in one day. Cheryl, the owner, who helped us with our initial order was nothing less than totally courteous and informative and professional. I can see why this company is kind of known as the "go-to" place for awnings in the area and I would not use anybody else. This is the first time I have ever taken the time to write a review for a product or service. But my frustration with Atlantic Awning needs this outlet. The awning they installed for me in 2016 started to collapse a few months ago. When I sent photos to the company they immediately took the awning down and left it on the ground in my garden. But I was told I would have to pay $385 and wait several months for re-installation. Since this happened at the start of the summer season, I was very disappointed to be left with no awning, so eventually I paid another awning company to do the job. They came in just a few days and did a fine job. But Atlantic insists on keeping the $385 I paid to be on their months-long waiting list. I ordered an awning back in March of 2021. They installed it in late July, after missing many promised dates, ( I should say they installed it incompletely - missing two pieces). I emailed and called in august of 2021 to schedule the completion and no one responded. I'm not sure how the warranty will work now that the awning has been exposed to winter. It's now a year later and they want the rest of their money (so now it's urgent for them to complete or they are just going to final bill me). How is this fair??? We scheduled the completion for the final two pieces for 9:30 am this morning. ......I'm still waiting. They also go by multiple names so buyers beware. If I could give no stars I would. They took a 50%, $1386 deposit and never installed the product that we ordered on 9/15/2021. We were given a 6-8 week time frame. It's now 9/7/2022 and they told us it would be installed about 10 times over the course of the last year, which then they wouldn't show up or call to cancel for - once they did send an email that they'd reschedule, however, they never did. This was after I insistently begged them for clearer communication. I had to call every couple weeks requesting the install (never once did they call me on their own to update me as to when that might be). I've tried very hard to be understanding and kind given we're nearly 3 years into covid, considering the issues they may have been facing. I'd rather that they be completely honest and tell me it would be 2 years due to these issues than to string me along and never follow through, and then completely stop responding. For that, there's no excuse. As a last resort, I requested that they come and install the awning or please refund my deposit. I was told I'd be contacted by the owners and they never did. I hadn't received my refund after 2 requests, each time being told I'd be contacted. I'm now at my 5th request and they stopped responding after the 3rd. I went to BBB for help and they never responded to them either. This company should NOT be accepting deposits for projects they are unable to complete, and they especially shouldn't be keeping money they already took for those projects and disappearing. They can not blame that behavior on covid. My opinion, given the several other reviews I've seen regarding this same exact issue, is that they're defrauding customers. Although the quality of products used by Atlantic Awning are very good, Sunair awnings their customer service is awful. At every junction, the company looked to upcharge me, charge me for services that I could easily have done myself ($100s), and in the end, never finished their work. Side shades were never properly secured, and then brought them to their attention, they ignored me. Emails responses were cursory and dismissing. During planning, I was never questioned about my goals, and during installation, my preferences. Arrogant and untrustworthy are two words I would freely use to describe this company. Beware of buying from this company. Look to buy your quality Sunair awning from someplace else. My criticism here is of the owners and management and their business practices. As for the workers on their truck who serviced me, they were very considerate and competent. It has been many, many years since I have been treated so dismissively or ripped off so badly. read more

We recently had one of their awnings installed (Eastern manufactured it) at our home in Boston. It's beautiful, robust and saved our sun-drenched porch from under-use due to the heat. It's also nice to know that when it gets dirty, they'll come and get it, clean it, re-waterproof it and re-install it. The installers were quick, efficient and friendly. The owner, Sherril was always available to update and reassure, as being short-staffed it took a little bit longer for the manufacturing phase than promised. We're delighted with the results and highly recommend Atlantic. I would use them again if the occasion arose. read more

We have used Atlantic Awning company in Melrose for years. They take the awning down in the fall, repair any defects and put it up in the spring. Every year, they are late to put it up and late to take it down. This year, they promised to take it down by the end of October. Then, after phone calls and emails, they promised to take it down by Friday, 11/26. We will now have to take it down ourselves because snow is predicted for this evening. The only reason I am giving a 1 star is because it requires me to do so. We ordered out awning on June 11th. We were told by Cheryl (the owner) it would be 4 to 6 weeks. On the 12th week we called. Was told they didn't know when the awning would be in. Then was told that it would be in 2 weeks they had a delay. We tried to call Cheryl as she is the only one that knows anything about production as the office staff told us. Well, Cheryl was on vacation. So I sent her an email and waited for a response when she got back from vacation. It never happened. Called the day after her vacation and was told she had a family emergency. Then called and so on and so on this happened everyday I called. I never ever got a return call. I spoke to the office manager who was very nice. She sent out an email to both owners and cc'd me saying I was unhappy and was going to dispute the charges on her credit card if I didn't get a return call the same day I called. I waited until 4:00 pm and never got a return call. Still have yet to be acknowledged by email or a phone call by either owner. After 13 weeks we disputed the charges on my credit card as we paid half. If I was you I would never ever consider this company! They don't care about you at all!! Shame on me.... after all I have been through I did a search online and come to find out they just had someone complain in the Boston Globe newspaper how bad they were! Don't use them!! read more

I wish I could write a review without even giving a single star to this extremely poor managed company. As an interior designer I have worked with numerous companies in the past for clients in many different states, never in my experiences I had to put up with a company with such dishonest, unorganized, poorly managed, horrible customer service!! I was debating between this company and another company with clean records and raving reviews, against my experience in the field I made a bad decision and chose Atlantic awnings! which as you can see has nothing but mainly unsatisfactory reviews on their yelp! Only because the price they offered was a couple of hundred dollars less than the other and NOT because they are cheaper ONLY because the other company uses a different manufacturer! Dorchester awnings warned me that they often have to clean up after Atlantic awnings mess, but since this was for our own house and I had a limited budget I made my poor choice of picking the "cheaper" company well I got what I paid for! But I decided to make myself CLEAR from the day after I submitted the deposit that I will NOT tolerate any delinquency in service! The first time I called the lady answering the phone pretty much hung up the phone on me with an attitude of "how dare I anticipate such accusations so early on" following up 4 weeks after the deposit was made I was assured that I will have an install date within the promised time frame of (4-6) weeks and "they will call me"!!! .. well let me put it to you this way! Tomorrow is the last day of six weeks and the past week I have set an alarm on my phone to make it a priority to call and follow up for an install date everyday and been given the run around of all run arounds! Finally I left a message today on their voicemail after not hearing back from them that if the install is not going to take place by the end of business day tomorrow, they haven't held up to their end of contract and I will cancel the order! Well I received an email! "We will call you tomorrow before we come to you for the install, please confirm"! After several emails back and forth I still haven't received a 4-5 hours window that any service would provide! All I can tell you that just a few moments ago I just received an email at 6:47 PM stating that "please note we said afternoon! So that means 12-8"! And I replied back that I will make sure I dedicate 8 hours so they can't get away with their scam of trying to make me back up but I will post this on their yelp! I called to have my awning motor repaired or at least some troubleshooting. They sent a sales person, who did not bring tools, and did exactly the same restart procedure i did from the internet. They charged me $145... when i called to complain, the owner was beligerent and said if i want a crew to come out to fix it, it will cost $345... pretty deceptive practice.. read more

On Friday 8/23, I sent them an email essentially saying that if they do not complete the awning by the end of the month, I will file a report with the BBB and the attorney general of MA, and will sue them. On Monday, I called them and finally got Mark on the phone, he told me he would complete the job on Friday 8/30. I called him back on Thursday and he said that they were still missing a few things but he'll try to have everything ready on Friday as planned, and will install around noon. On Friday, I called him at noon and he said that there was still some aspect of the awning that does not meet his standards, so he planned on ordering some stuff and will work on it over the weekend. He said that he'll try to install it on Tuesday since Monday was a holiday. On Tuesday, I called and was told that there is still 1 1/2 hour of work left to do on that awning before it is ready, and that the installation date was now moved to Wed morning. That afternoon, I received a phone call from the sale lady confirming my installation date to be Wed at 9:30 am. They arrived around 10:30 due to traffic. I have no issue with the installation except this: there is a metal piece that goes across the width of the entire awning as part of the frame to support the awning. Mark's team was out for lunch and with no one to help him install that metal piece, he decided to cut it up into PIECES and install each piece one by one, and not even on a straight line. This makes the frame of the awning a lot weaker than if he kept it whole. My father asked him about it, and he said he did it because no one was there to help him. My dad was furious because doing so compromise the longevity of the awning significantly. Other that, the awning looks great. The project was completed on 8/4 -exactly 1 month behind schedule. Conclusion: Dont bother with this company unless you are willing to call to pressure them to do their job EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. read more

Should be a zero except when they finally installed it after almost 3 months since I ordered it the installers did a good job. However, the sales guy Mark and the office staff are worthless. Never heard from Mark after he took my money. Office staff had no clue where my awning was or what was taking so long. Mark said I would have it in 4-5 weeks when I ordered it in April. Office staff never called me, even after it had come in. I had to make a stink to get an instillation appointment and that was over 2 weeks after they had it. Stay away. May got pushed off for delivery, talked to the owner said my awning was in but had scheduling issues on a large order. Called 2 other times and was told it was in and scheduling would reach out to me. Today, was told not in and have to reorder a part as it was bad. Emailed the owner Cheryl Yennaco with my unhappiness and told them rate them a D - (her email reply was Thanks!!!) as I gave this company a chance based on its bad reviews last year after I spoke to Cheryl in March 2016 she assured me they had rectified all issues. Trying to support the locals but sometimes you have to go to more established reputable firms like Fimbel in Merrimack, NH or Seasonal in Amherst, NH. Their word means nothing. Originally spoke with them back in July 2017. Had a couple of things that I was looking to have made...an grill cover for a little outdoor kitchen area, as well as a pool house that I was looking to have something made to be able to provide an enclosure for the cold weather and to keep the pollen out. Was quoted something almost immediately. Total was approx. $9500, of which they wanted 50% deposit to get started. I asked how long it would take, because I wanted something done in the fall before winter hit. Was told residential was a 4-6 week process. I began making phone calls around October, which was approx. 3 months after I had written my check for the deposit. Was never able to get past the person who answered the phone. Each time I was told that they needed to check with Mark to see what his schedule was, and I would receive a phone call back. Was told that same things 3 or 4 times, without a return phone call. Finally I was given a date, which came and went, so I would continue to call. They reneged on an install date commitment on three different occasions before finally completing the grill cover portion of the job. To their credit, the grill cover did come nice, albeit 4 months later than I was told it would take. The grill cover portion was itemized on the quote. It was somewhere in the neighborhood of $1900 (sorry I don't have the quote in front of me as I type this). Continued to to call about the pool house. Was given more install commitment dates, which came and went. Snow came so I didn't bother to contact them since I assume there would have been a series of additional excuses about winter, and snow, and cold. No that winter has finally broken they've failed to contact me. I wrote them about three weeks ago to let them know that they had until the end of April to complete the remainder of the project, or my next communication would be to the BBB, and then legal action. Not surprisingly, no response from Atlantic Awning. As it currently stands, they have been holding onto $4700-4800 of my money, and completed $1900 of the job. I got their name through a third party recommendation, so I didn't do as much homework on this company as I should have. After reading through the Yelp reviews I can see that I am not the only person they have done this to. Amazing to me that a company can operate this way. I gave them a 50% deposit, per their business requirements, and also under the assumption that I do so under good faith that their word for commitment and completion of what I purchased from them would be honored. I assume that they would also act in good faith, as most businesses do, only to have to chase and chase to get this completed. I will assume that they will respond to this, trying to cover their own asses to make it look like blame belongs on my end. If they don't respond then my communication to the BBB should get something out of them, and if not then they can respond to my attorney. It's disappointing that one, a bad merchant here and there can give other merchants an unfair reputation in the industry, and two, that the consumer has to go through this crap to try to get something accomplished. I am still waiting for my awning, which is now more than two months overdue from the installation date they gave me when I ordered it. They do not respond to emails, so I have started calling them. They straight out lie about when I will receive my awning. An example: The owner Cheryl gave me a firm installation date of July 23. I took the day off from work to be present for the install. Nothing. Next day, nothing. Now I have started calling them every day, and every day I am told that I will get a call back immediately with an installation date. But nothing. They say things like, "It's on the truck," "There is a problem at the current site," etc. All of it is lies. I am thinking of getting an attorney to take care of this for me. it's so sad to have to resort to that, when all I want is a decent awning for my new little house. Buyer BEWARE!!! Please don t hire Atlantic Awning!! They will take your money and won t put it towards the production of your awning. I put a deposit down on an awning April 5th 2019 after having the owner, Cheryl Yennaco come to my home and choose the awning to be installed. I asked Cheryl how long it would take from deposit to install and she said 6 weeks. At that point I decided to hire Atlantic awning. Once 6 weeks came and went I called them to find out the status. They said that I they would be installing the following week and would call me the Friday before to schedule. Needless to say this fiasco went on every week for the remainder of the summer. The owner Cheryl lied to me on multiple occasions regarding my awning and it s current status. I finally got sick and tired of the constant run around on the whereabouts of my awning and when it would be installed. I called Atlantic awning and asked for the manufacturers number so I could inquire myself on the status and they said they don t give out that number and hung up on me. I was furious. I looked up the manufactures number myself and called. I had to leave my contact information and they said they would return my call. I wasn t confident that I would ever get a call considering everything I had already gone through. However I did, I received a call back from the president of the manufacturer. The president told me that Atlantic awning is a COD account with them. That they will not produce anything for them unless they receive the money upfront. I said I gave them my money in APRIL! She said that they never paid them to produce the awning otherwise it would be completed in 6 weeks. I was in SHOCK!!! What did Atlantic awning and the owner Cheryl Yennaco do with my deposit of $2370.50 in April??? I called Atlantic awning and told them what I had been told and they said they would pay the manufacturer right away and have them produce the awning. At that point I was done. How dare they lie to me all summer when they new very well that they would never get my awning without paying the manufacturer first. I asked to be refunded because the summer was over and quite frankly I didn t want to do business they a company that lacked integrity and ethics. At this point Cheryl Yennaco wouldn t agree to my refund until I said I was going to file a police report. At that point Cheryl Yennaco Agreed to refund me by check only (not the credit card I originally used for the deposit). At that point I said I wanted a certified check that day for my deposit. Cheryl Yennaco (a business owner) said she didn t know what a certified check was. I said go to the bank. To make a long story short I did get my money back, but if I didn t call the manufacturer or be recommended to file a police report I probably would still be going through this. I wouldn t have an awning and still be getting a run around from this company. I m not sure why they re allowed to continue being in business while deliberately taking money from customers and lying to them for months. I don't understand why the other reviewers gave them such bad ratings... Atlantic Awning Company did my awnings at our restaurant and we were more than pleased with every aspect of the transaction. They were very professional and the awnings were even better than we had hoped for. Thanks to the recommendations Cheryl made on the arm design, they came out beautifully and we get compliments from our guests all the time. I had absolutely no issues, and I worked with both Cheryl and Mark (the above mentioned husband). Lousy customer service,did not even respond at all to my job needs .never even sent me a quote. Call Blanchard THAT is an awning company.

I called Atlantic Awning Company in early May to request a simple quote for a retractable pergola system for my home. They sent a representative to my home on June 3rd. His name was Mark and he was a very nice guy. He took measurements of my patio and discussed several options that would work for me. He confirmed all my contact information and told me they would send me an email with an estimate and some alternative ideas to help keep my new deck out of the sun and rain. I patiently waited for about 2 weeks but did not receive any calls or emails. I called the office once a week for the past 5 weeks to inquire about my estimate and was told every time that they were sorry and they were busy and they would be emailing me the information the next day. This has been going on since June 3rd. I spoke with Cheryl on July 10th. Same story again, "Sorry, I will take care of this. You will hear back from us by tomorrow." Today is July 17th and I still have not had any communication from them. No quote,, estimate, nothing! I am actually happy that they showed their true colors. It would have been terrible if I had actually hired them and paid them and not received the service I requested. This company has proved to be unreliable and unprofessional. Zero stars. The (13 x 10') awning I bought end of July 2011 for more than "two thousand dollars" started pulling away from the house within 2 months. When they finally came to look at it they just tightened it back in. Now when I call a month ago with the exact problem and ask them to move one bolt over and tighten it into a different spot Cheryl (the owner) tells me today (after I have to keep calling to schedule a maintenance date and time) that service calls are 3 weeks out and our two year warranty has expired and it will cost me between 195 to 425 dollars for this service call. She has zero customer service skills and a nasty phone attitude. No repeat business here. And for such a short awning season that we have ...from June to August it's not worth the expense, nor putting up with company presidents who obviously don't need your business. read more

This company is terrible. Their customer relations is the worse I've ever delt with.I ordered my awning the 1st of June 2018 and was told I would have it installed by mid July. After that time frame went by I contacted them to find out what the status was. A woman, who could barley speak english stated it was not in and MAYBE we will call you next week. I questioned her about "maybe" and she stated that we will definitely call you next week. I waited the week and received no call, so I called and spoke to a women by the name of Gail on a Friday. She stated that there were having a staff meeting that afternoon and she will call me the following Monday to give me an update. Well, Monday went by, and no call. I called Tuesday and another woman answered and checked on the status and she stated that the awning was in but they were waiting for a few parts, which should be in a day or two. I waited three days to find out if the parts had arrived, and I was told that they haven't received the awning yet. I said to this woman that I was told that the awning was in and they were waiting for a few parts. She said again the awning has not arrived. I asked if there was a CEO there that I might be able to speak with, and I was told that she would not be until that afternoon. I asked that when she (Cherl Yenneco) arrives, would you please have her call me. You guessed it, no call. The following day, I was so frustrated, that I had my wife call. She did get Ms Yennaco on the phone and she was extremely rude to my wife. At that point, I decided to take the company to small claims court to recover my down payment of nearly $2,500.00. I won my case hands down and recovered all my money plus $100.00 court costs. Their lawyer was so unprepared, I don't no how he made it through law school. This whole thing could have been avoided with a little public relations. All phone calls with this company were made from me. They never called me once. If they had called and apologized for the delay and maybe offered some small compensation, this mess may have been avoided. What a shame. Now their stuck with a customized awning made to fit my patio. Avoid the hassle. Go to another company. read more

Worst company I ever did Business with. Ordered Awning and $3200 deposit to be delivered and installed in three to four weeks. Received it TWELVE weeks later! Owner Sherril Yannaco and staff do not return calls and emails. Installers had a problem finding roof rafters to install awning. Yannaco threatened to charge $290 per hour to locate the rafters. Contract states payment due upon completion of installationThen demanded a check for full payment or she would have the awning brought back to shop. if I sent installers away. I sent them away and decided the company could not be trusted and stopped payment. Located the rafters within 2 hours. Called the next day to schedule a new install date.got the run around. Finally received a date for install two weeks later Yannaco demanded a additional payment or they would not install and not guarantee installation unless they did the work. I pointed out their contract stated the owed me the installation The awning was stored on my deck blocking it's use. I decided to negotiate a smaller increase of $175 to complete the installation be done with this company. 0 Stars DO Not do business with this company! read more
