I knew I wanted 3…read moreRoman shades and one curtain for a slider door and knew that custom would be the only way to have all the fabric be the same. The room is open style, living room and kitchen area so the continuity was important. The swatches are small so I drove to the Peabody store to view the large sample and then knew I made the right choice. They were ready just before Christmas and I choose an install date early January. No issues with getting an install date I paid for the professional install. They installed the Romans shades and slider curtain in about 30 minutes and left. The curtain was wrinkled but I used my steamer and it looked a bit better but the liner (blackout) was extremely wrinkled and those would not budge. I honestly don't know why there was a blackout liner since this door faces the north and my back yard, but it was on the quote which they pointed out I signed. I knew the roman shades had a thin cotton liner, thought the same for the curtains but no, a very heavy kind of plastic/rubber like material was on the back of these curtains. I wrote to Anne, the consultant and she asked if the installers steamed them...I said no. She promptly sent out someone who tried but couldn't remove them either. They tied them to train them, left those for a few weeks , removed and still they will not fold together when closed. I pulled the one that will not fold nice to the dry cleaners to see if they could steam them, but Anne said to get it back and they would try again to steam them. Again the same gentleman steamed, said these wrinkles will not budge and the curtain just folds to the side all floppy and not nicely folded...like you want from custom. Mitch, the Customer Experience Manager tried to help but said there is nothing more they can do. He did offer me a coupon if I wanted to buy more, no thank you. I will say they communicate well, the fabric and the Roman shades are nice...but the slider door curtain I wish I just bought from Target. If you want something like blackout, make sure you see and feel this product before you sign the quote, it really doesn't need to be there for a typical slider door.

My experience working with James and Budget Blinds was really great. We had 3 tricky windows (a…read morevery, very large window; a sliding door; and a kitchen sink window with a small "eyelash" at the top) that I wasn't sure that we would be able to put Lutron smart blinds on but he was able to come up with a very elegant solution for all 3 that was also within our budget. He did a great job of walking us through all of our options, pros/cons of each, and provided us recommendations that felt tailored to our situation & budget (ie, I never felt like I was being upsold on anything). After having an in-home consultation to go over everything and take measurements we placed our order. The day of install, James and a colleague arrived on-time and installed the 9 blinds in less than an hour (seriously, they were so fast). They were very professional and respectful of our home (eg, cleaned up after themselves). There was a delivery issue with one of blinds (not Budget Blinds fault) and James sorted the issue that day and came by outside of business hours to finish the install for that last blind, which was greatly appreciated. Four months later and I am still in love with the Lutron smart blinds--one of the best upgrades we made to our home. I was the most hesitant about the shade for the kitchen sink window, as I was having trouble visualizing what it would look like, but that shade turned out absolutely beautiful.
