I write this with a smile. You know those hole in the wall restaurants that people rave about? This is one of them. I was looking for a place to eat after getting my book at the Half-Price a few stores down. I've been wanting to try this place out. My friend finally decided we should take a chance on this place. I'm soooo glad we did. I was a little hesitant when I walked in. I mean, there is little to this place: seating and a counter, with two TV's. I mean, seriously. The first thing that came to mind was, "oh my they're laundering money and I'm about to die." Luckily that didn't happen. They host from the counter on the opposite side of the place gestured us to have a seat somewhere. He gave us our menus. It was all in Spanish. I knew right then we had something legit here. Maybe it was the blank stares on our face that he knew we didn't speak spanish, but he whipped out his phone and began to show us pictures of their food with their respective order numbers on the menus. Food: we ordered ourselves some tostada type appetizer (I'm sorry I don't know what it was called), carne asade, chicken tamale, and pork tacos with their housemade tacos. I need to let you know... This food though... This right here... Was the real deal. It was ALLL good. AALLL good. Legit Guatemalan food. My god. my tamale was HUGE. I'm glad I ordered one. there was a whole chicken wing in the middle, but the bones slips right out. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, mouthwatering. I was in my happy place. The meat in my pork tacos were tender. My friend said her carne asade was the best she ever had. Those tostada like appetizers, the meat was sooo good. Topped with shredded radishes, cilantro, grated queso... I can't speak highly enough. The cooks take so much pride in the food they cook. We complimented our server (who was also the host) he was very thankful and gracious. And the prices were very very reasonable. The spicy yellow sauce they gave me to top my tacos... I wish I could bottle that up to go. Overall if you want legit authentic Guatemalan food, come here. They take credit cards, they'll help you interpret the menu, and you'll have some of the best food you ever tried. P.S. - housemande tortillas all the way.

First experience trying Guatemalan food. Staff is friendly, place was dirty, I know each Latin culture has a certain way of making tamales and I have had many. Never before have I had one with a complete chicken wing with bone and all inside. It had no flavor whatsoever very bland. My husband ordered popussas one chicken and one chicharrón. He really liked the chicharron he says the chicken was bland and not enough meat inside. Maybe they should have used a whole chicken wing in the popussas to. JK We both liked the garnachas plate. That alone is a 3 Star. For the type of food prices are very reasonable. Would we return to eat here? No

I ordered the gorditas and they were spectacular! The green salsa they give you was delicious. I recommend this place, the prices are great and the food is even better!

Had to brush up on my Spanish, but the food is very quick to come out and very tasty! I ordered two appetizers and the grilled chicken meal to go and they threw in some gorditas. Enough to feed two people under $20.

Omg..what a delightful place to eat authentic guatemalan food!!! I read previous reviews and wanted to try it myself. We got the mini nachos - don't ask me what the name of them are but it was a mini fried corn tortilla (gordita) with a ground meat topping and cabbage. There was also a salted light white grated cheese and spices. It was very tasty. I proceeded their version of Mexican mole. It consisted with a mixture of oh and they asked if I wanted dark or breast meat. I'm a fan of dark - has much more flavor. Anyhow it had a nice piece of thigh and leg, jicama, onions and the sauce piping hot. 3 gordita type tortillas came with it as well as rice. My man got the torta which was huge. We wound up eating only 1/2 the meal and taking the rest home. This meal with 2 drinks was $25. I'll be back for more.

Chicken quesadilla was awesome. I had to speak a little bit of Spanish to order but waitress was nice and service was fast.

Traditional cuisine with a bit of snap to it, no holding back on spice. Generous portions at very reasonable prices.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our pupusas. The ration of filling to masa is perfect and they are not overly greasy. The curtido and salsa were fresh and good adding to the flavor of the meal. We ordered a variety from loroco to pollo to pork and beans and others. All very tasty! Definitely give this place a try!

I tried the pork and then I tried the squash. Both were good. And I order 3 pupusas total. Let me tell u, they are very vey filling. I came in on a regular day and it filled up after I came in. I think the food took about 15 minutes to come out but it was fine I had the tamarind drink. That was ok. Next time I'll try the horchata instead would eat here again to try different foods. When I pulled up in the parking lot, I was like this is giving me ghetto vibes. Kidnapping vibes and I was contemplating maybe just ordering my food and taking it to go. But this restaurant got so busy so I decided to stay and eat here. Would come back and try different foods here along with trying the horchata next time.

A-OK tacos and coffee; bail on the Huevos Rancheros…read more This is a very low profile taqueria, tucked in with several other Mexican businesses in a small Webster-area strip mall. Low budget business, they use a home-model Mr Coffee to brew the coffee, but it was strong and fresh. I stop in here for the occasional taco. Last time I had a chorizo and egg. The cooks whip them up to order, for $1.50 they're a good deal. Service is friendly and fast. Having left the house without breakfast, I wanted something more substantial and I ordered the huevos rancheros. I was surprised that the egg (1 or 2?) came out fried not scrambled, (but a little research shows that is the classic way to make them. So.) But the texture was all wrong, and the tomato-chile topping was odd and somewhat tasteless. It was accompanied by what seemed to be be canned ranch beans, with some horrid little hotdog slices in them. It did not hit the spot.

First off let me say this ins not a Mexican place. This is actually an Honduran (Honduras)…read more restaurant. So its a little different but awesome. When I first walked i looked at the menu and saw Items I didn't recognize. I talked to the owner Luis and asked him what they were and also gave me recommendations. One the first things I ordered was the Tajadas con pollo frito. It was very very good. Unlike anything I have ever had before. It had plantains with cabbage, carrots, and other stuff... cant quite remember and topped with fried chicken (pollo frito). My wife is from Belize so she throughly enjoyed it because the food was similar. The next time i came in i brought my wife and we order the beef fajitas plate for breakfast. The beef fajitas were very tasty and flavorful! It was served with black beans as opposed to pinto beans , rice, pickled veggies, and awesome homemade tortillas. I don't like black beans but these were tasty. Not sure how to describe the rice but it was very good. The veggies complemented the the beef fajita meat well. The tortillas were freshly made, thick, and tasty. My wife and I loved them. This is definitely my new secret spot. Needless to say I will be back again...and again...and again. Gonna try the barbacoa next!! Can't wait. Like I said before...this is not a MEXICAN restaurant.
