I began physical therapy in October of 2022. Over all, my impression is that the current staff do a good job and are pleasant people. However, on my 5th visit, the current director of this location, told me to WARM UP on the lying leg press machine for 6 minutes. This machine is NOT appropriate to use without a good warm-up first, and starting at just a few reps. It was never intended to BE a warm-up!!! It gave me a NEW INJURY to completely different muscles on both legs. Over a week later, I am still in pain. This is not aching muscles from therapy; it is a new injury caused by the negligence of a therapist.
The location director was very nice about making efforts to ease the pain for one visit. However, when I pointed out that I should not have to pay for the therapy session which gave me a new injury, nor the subsequent sessions needed to address the new injury (it was too painful to continue therapy for the original injury), she did not have the authority to approve this.
Their corporate office's response was for me to STOP THERAPY, and receive no more care from them, until after they "investigate" the payment issue. When I asked what the investigation entailed, I was told that it was a purely financial investigation.
So, an ATI staff member's negligence GAVE ME A NEW INJURY, and ATI will only continue to address this injury that they caused if they can profit from it, at my expense. Heartless.
I am only asking to not be charged for the visit which injured me, nor the therapy sessions necessary to address the pain and rehabilitation of THIS new injury. Fair, right? I will not profit in any way, and certainly would prefer not to have had this happen. This is short sighted on their part, considering that they will lose all future business of mine if they continue with this stance, and likely others who hear about how this corporation treats people.
Meanwhile, my original injury's progress is regressing, with over a week of no therapy.
Depending upon how it plays out from here, I will either change my review 4 stars with something along the lines of: "They took great care of me over all, despite causing an additional temporary problem, and were gracious in carrying me through that (after an initial bad response from the corportate office)", or more details about what led to the new injury they gave me, including failing to listen to the patient on multiple occasions.
