Very nice. I had been wanting to come here for a long time so finally we got up off the couch and went. We were not disappointed. I really wanted the spinach feta pie, but they were out, so I got the tuna pita instead, which was wonderful. I was there with a party of five (including my child) and everyone was really happy with their meals. The service was fantastic and friendly. My parents were a little late arriving, so my son enjoyed playing in the little toy kitchen set-up they had in the corner. (He found dinosaurs in one of the containers, so he was in his element.) What a great distraction for the kiddos, along with coloring books and crayons. We all had dessert too and while I didn't get to try the baklava, I think among all of the others the limoncello was my favorite. Very cool ambiance. As for the decor, it is cluttered and quirky and very Greek. Loved every corner. Even some historic politicians were enjoying the food and the ambiance. Opa! read more

This place is so much fun! Wax figures and hilarious signs populate the tables and walls of this gem. Funny and down to earth staff keep the energy right, and the Greek food is terrific. The flaming cheese was an "Opa" inducing spectacle for the whole restaurant to marvel. And it tasted great! As did the Athens fries (it's amazing what a little vinaigrette and feta can do)! The gyro also did not disappoint. My wife ordered a Turkey melt, which she thought was okay. I think the lesson is to order Mediterranean from a Mediterranean restaurant, and you won't be disappointed. read more

We were introduced here by Frankie and Lyndie who are locals in the area, (we're from Florida) and we were not disappointed whenever we visited Ohio we always had to be here and enjoyed their awesome food, the staff were all amazing, accommodating and always had smiles on their faces and it showed how they love to be working there. At first we were a little weary walking in and at first seeing human like props of an old woman and man at the front room table, later to learn that the props and old fashioned-homely feel of the restaurant kept a smile on our faces throughout the whole experience from start to end. Service was great, the young sweet girl serving coffee was on point and the family feel was awesome and just the whole environment within the restaurant was well worth the visit which made the food taste so much more richer and delicious. We came all the way from Maui, Hawaii and we loved the experience. A place to remember for a lifetime, for sure. I hope this place stay opens forever. The Flamming Cheese was so delicious and Kim lit the bread with a squeeze of lemon. It was really neat! We had a nice time as we shared on 'what would be her mother's 96th Birthday!" Came with local clients for lunch and had the Athens small salad with gyro. Pretty typical. The waitress recalled both my guests lunch favorites. I duplicated their order. Boring, but functional. I returned after lunch for a Greek Coffee and "GalacticBooty" (spelling phonetically)...wonderful dessert recommended by owner extraordinaire, the Deva Demetria, or just "D." I have always loved this place, from the eclectic furnishings to the food to the staff and lovely owner! Unfortunately, I don't get to frequent Athens as much I did at one time, but my visit today was right in line with every memory I have there. My favorite staff member, Tasha, gave us great service, as well as her warm personality. All of the staff was very nice. Great hires! The gyros! I love their gyros! (No matter how it's pronounced.) We ended by taking an order of baklava to go and introduced my in-laws to the best baklava ever this evening. Love this place! read more

Went to Athens Restaurant for the first time ever on Saturday for breakfast. The waitress was welcoming, the service was fast, the omelet was excellent and the price was very modest in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. I cannot wait to go back. A number of other customers said 'good morning' as well, telling me that going here is generally an uplifting experience for the regulars. This was a very encouraging outing in the world of rude people, bland food and high prices. I should have gone here 50 years ago and been a lifelong regular myself. read more

I felt like I was back in Athens...in 1974! So the decor. I was a little confused when I first visited here and ate at the what could best be described as the diner. The rest of the decor is also dated, the seats are a little tight in the booths, and there's creepy little dolls/statues/mascots(?) positioned randomly around the restaurant. So you may have seen that I gave this 5 stars. Well, that's because who really cares what it looks like. It's down the street from the steel mill. All I want is nice servers and good food, and Athens delivers. The greek salad is probably a 10/10 for me, with amazing dressing, amazing feta, and enough cucumber and tomatoes to really hit the spot. It's not authentic Greek salad, it does have lettuce, but it's exactly what people expect in the US. The gyro was a 8/10, which is great because there's no gyro spots within a reasonable distance from home. Pita was fresh, as were the ingredients. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, and even replaced my napkin when she noticed mine fell on the ground. read more

Love the home style diner decor. Small Grecian salad was basic. I had hoped for a more seasoned chicken for the topper. House dressing was good. Gyro platter was good as well. We woke up craving breakfast on Saturday morning, and this place immediately popped to mind. It's a bit off the beaten path, but don't let the location deter you! Inside, it is warm, inviting, and everything you would want from a breakfast joint. We each got hotcakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs -- I had Kara's Favorite, to be exact, with the whole wheat hot cakes. They were delicious and fresh -- slightly crispy, yet still melted in your mouth. I got mine with a side of blueberry topping which hit the spot. All in all -- $15.00 + tip, bottomless coffee, and great service on a Saturday morning? Can't really go wrong with that! Give it a try before you head to IHOP or Bob Evans. read more

Almost as good as the customer service... our fish came out before our salads, no big deal but the manager was paying attention and willing to take our meals back and redo them... we declined but she twisted our arms to give us a little treat: baklava a la mode! This Canton, Ohio landmark serves an outstanding breakfast and Greek food. The gyro salad is fantastic and they have all sorts of lunch specials every day, most Greek entrees. Everything is homemade and I haven't had one bad thing yet. Try the flaming cheese appetizer - OPA!! It's outstanding. You'll come as a guest and leave a family. what a great place. literally from the second i walked in the door i felt welcomed. as the sign behind the bar says "enter as strangers, leave as friends" the staff were all spectacular, and the large grecian salad with gyro meat was the best i've ever had. what a great find. i'm from out of town, here on business. i will make sure i return during my next trip to canton. read more
