This market is run by Amish women who were some of the nicest people I have ever met. The one thing that stuck out to me was how well stocked their baking section was. They had sheets of fondant, specialty sugars, cake decorations, icing..... that arent even carried by big grocery stores in Chicago. I would have had to order them from online. However, this store is a baker's dream. The prices are very fair and even cheaper than I expected. Maranatha market is a quaint country store that I would recommend to anyone in the area. I am so glad that the hotel staff recommended this place to me. The drive to the store was beautiful and the store staff were very welcoming. Recommendation- Buy the frozen pies! They are made by a Mennonite woman with a certified kitchen. I tried the Dutch Apple Pie and it was AMAZING!!!!!! The crust was to die for and the filling was perfect- not cloying, not too sweet, nor was it too heavy on spices. I feasted on that Apple Pie. They had other varieties of pies- Regular apple pies, berry pies and so on. This holiday season keep them in your freezer and stick them straight into the oven for an hour. Perfect for guests. If you live in the area, this is a nice place to frequent and support local small businesses. If you are a visitor to the area like I was, Maranatha Market is a must visit .
