The majority of items, if not locally grown and produced are from various Mennonite groups around the country and from across the state. Cloverdale carries the usual flours, sugars, bulk candies (national brands), along with rolled butter, honey from local farms within a 20 mile radius, as well as the honey with the honeycomb (good chewing gum), and more kinds of jellies and jams and preserves than I've seen outside a major chain grocery store and all with no (or few) preservatives. If bulk spices are your preference, Cloverdale also carries those. I found some bulk whole nutmeg -- something I've been looking for and which also gives me the ability to grate my own. And the mace from the outside of the nut is perfect for a slightly different flavor. If I lived in this part of the country, this store would be a regular stop for staples and spices and seasonings.

Bags of potatoes, onions, apples, etc. always seem to have at least one rotten item in the bag. It's not a problem with individual produce items, but those are also more expensive. Oh, and one of the absolutely best things about the store is Barb. She is the most helpful, cheerful persons I have ever met. She is a true treasure.

It's a combination of overstock and some slightly dented items, but everything is priced less than at a regular grocery store. The inventory appears to change frequently. The people working here are friendly, but not in-your-face. It's a nice place to shop for reduced prices on things like soup, cereal, rice, meat, soda, baby products, cleaning supplies, pet food and general miscellaneous items.

I went from there into grocery, I noticed a man facing shelves, and he was very clean, well presented, and he said hi, but did not ask if I am finding everything. Hmm. I went into the next aisle, a man in a white shirt and tie was in there and he was talking to another person, but, did not say hi nor recognize me in the aisle. Needs work! I then went down the soda aisle and noticed a cart that was unattended and with garbage in it. No clerk around to tend to it. So, I grabbed what I wanted, then I was going to grab another item and seen it was down the aisle with the white shirt man with tie. He was still talking and again, no hi and I did not get recognized. So, I continued my shopping and went to the checkouts. At the checkouts, it was busy and they opened up another lane which was accurate and seen the white shirt with tie man head to there. I studied him to see if his cashier performance is the same as the aisles. They differed. He showed excellent cashiering skills but failed in the grocery clerk skills. I also noticed both clerks are cross trained, which is excellent. I went to the clerk who said hi to me. His skills are also top notch for which I liked. He did everything right and he closed the service with welcoming me back. When I left the store, I see they need a lot of improving in their services. 1. When a customer goes down an aisle and a clerk is in there, the clerk is to say hi and then ask if they are finding everything so far. It does not hurt to ask. 2. If you are tending to a person that is not a customer, it is proper to break from that person and at least say hi to the actual customer so that customer can be recognized. 3. Aisles are to be clean and the carts with garbage and cardboard inside should be cleaned up if not in use. It is better attraction to the customer that way. 4. When working in differ depts like crossed trained, same customer service is to be given all the way around, not just up front at the registers. This store has a lot of hard work to work on customer communication skills in the aisles. The reason I gave it an OK is due to most aisles were clean, the store was organized, and the front end was on the mark for service, but the service in the aisles failed. Sometime down the line, I will return to the store and check to see if they have improved on their skills. Then I will give another review. Right now, they need to work on their skills.

It was VERY CLEAN, items were stocked nicely, and well stocked. There were not clothes laying on the floor when I walked through the women's department either. 2. The employees looked presentable and were kind and helpful. 3. There were checkouts actually open and they were not all self check outs. Overall, this is one of the cleanest and most pleasant Walmart stores I've shopped at. Minnesota Walmart (Eden Prairie I'm looking at you) could take a few notes from this store. Thank you, I will shop here if needed each time I come back to visit my hometown.
