Atelier Preescolar wasn't the right fit for my family. We were looking for a Spanish immersion school to reinforce what we teach them at home and this place was the only one with an opening. Our son started talking English like never before (he's fluent in Spanish) he was spending hours in the outdoor area everyday and not learning or reinforcing Spanish which was one of the main reasons when choosing the school. I felt bullied by the owner constantly. When I was 37 weeks pregnant I picked up my son at 1:03 and was told in front of other parents that I was late for pickup, and I understand the rules but it took me forever to get in and out of the car and she still told me that I had to be better organized once baby was here to be on time. They told me once I dropped him off to early at 8:55 (drop of was at 9:00 am) I get that there's a schedule but not having 5 extra minutes was very stressful for me once I had my baby. I was constantly on a rush feeding him, having him cry all the way over to pickup my son before 1:00 pm. It became exhausting and having a newborn is hard by itself so adding the extra stress wasn't working for me or my family. I made the mistake of paying enrollment fees for my daughter to start in August (including supply fees and two months tuition in advance per her request) When I told her I wasn't enrolling my daughter and my son wouldn't be coming back she obviously refused to give our money back. I told her with plenty of time in advance, and at first she said she would give us the money back if I convinced my friend to take her bad review down. Then she told me I should write a detailed email explaining why we weren't coming back, after that she told me she was only giving 75% back if two kids enrolled and "replace" my spots, and she asked my husband and me two 5 stars reviews in exchange of our money. After telling her I wasn't posting a 5 star review she told me her lawyer advice her not to give me a refund unless I did. She has made multiple comments about taking legal action if I posted a negative review. I expect her to call any time after posting this. Please don't send your kids here and avoid the bad experience of dealing with the owner. read more

Update: Susana just called my husband threatening with legal action. She also did this when we raised concerns before pulling our kids out of this school. It also appears that she has threatened other parents that have reviewed her school on Yelp/Google. My two daughters were here for 2 months when I had to pull them out. The owner, Susana, and her daughter, Alexa, who is also one of the teachers, have terrible ways. I will outline some of the bad experiences we had here: 1. Susana said the cost of enrollment and materials was double of what it actually is. I believed her and paid the full fee she was charging us. A few days later, I saw on her website the real fees were half of what I had paid. 2. I saw Alexa pushing my two year old. My daughter was already at the door but inside the room when I picked her up. Seemed like Alexa wanted her out of the classroom immediately and when I saw she pushed her so she would walk outside. I asked her not to push my daughter and even said I would carry her out. The next day at drop off she kind of addressed that she knew pushing a child was wrong but didn't apologize and made excuses. 3. Kids appear to be outside for 3 hours or more everyday. Even in 80- 100 degree weather. The parent handbook says they are outside for an hour. This doesn't seem to be the case. I started dropping off my daughters at different times every day; children were always outside when I dropped them. When I talked to Susana, the director, about this she suggested I should pick them up early if they couldn't handle the heat. 4. It looked like teachers did not fully engage with children. At drop off, I would see the teachers sitting down chatting in the shade, while children would be playing in the yard basically alone and unsupervised. 5. I don't think children learn here. My daughters did not learn much while here. I was told by the teachers class runs for about 30 minutes every day. The rest of the time appears like they are outside playing by themselves. read more

If I could zero stars I would. Please do not send your child here. My daughter absolutely hated going here and Susana the director did nothing to support her, but of course charged us full tuition. This daycare only cares about money. Susana and her team, under her direction, would only accommodate 30 mins a day while charging us for an entire day. She blamed my daughter for her so called inability to acclimate to their rules. This entire experience was very traumatizing for my daughter. A few examples, they threw her urine soaked pants in her backpack without a bag which was mixed with her water bottle, even though I provided an entire box of ziplock bags. My daughter would be screaming once I picked her up and there was zero regard for her well-being, rather I was told she is the problem. Once we told them we would be moving on they left her personal items in the back alley. Believe the other reviews when they say Susana threatens legal action with zero cause, how she she is allowed support children is beyond me. My child cried every time I left her there that I needed to remove her after a couple weeks. We have found a new daycare that she absolutely loves and spends the entire day under the care of real professionals who actually care about children, not this horrific woman and her so called child care service. read more

We love Atelier! Our son was here from 18 months to 2 years, and we only left because we moved north. This was our son's first school, and we were apprehensive since he is very attached to us (Covid baby), but we couldn't have been happier with our experience. My son has attended Atelier for 1.5 years, beginning just before the pandemic.  During the time at home, his teachers worked hard to prepare at-home activities for students to do, and they made many videos to go along with them, including letter and number practice, yoga, and songs.  They went above and beyond, and we were so thankful for all that they did during this time. In the year since my son has been back in person, I am amazed by how much Spanish he has learned!  He understands and speaks the language with such confidence and pride.  He speaks so highly of his teachers and of the friends he has made at school. read more

We have been part of the Atelier Family since 2015; our daughter was 18 months when she started and we have been very happy since then with the attention and education she is receiving. We love Atelier! My daughter started when she was 2.5, we took a break beginning March 2020, and have now re-enrolled her. She is always happy when I pick her up and I can tell she can understand the Spanish she learns there even though we don't speak it at home. I highly recommend Atelier Preescolar. We toured several preschools in the area and definitely made the right choice! The teachers genuinely love each and every child, the class sizes are small and my 2 year old is speaking Spanish! We started with 3 days a week 9-1 and quickly moved to 9-3. This place didn't work out for us and it was a real bummer. We had a few issues with the place that made us decide to have our son stop going there. The Spanish immersion concept seemed cool at first but after a while it became clear that it kinda comes at a cost. As parents we all want are kids prepped for success in Kindergarten. So that means writing, reading, math, and all that good stuff. Those are all challenging subjects for a young kid to learn as they are. Now take that and add in the fact that everything is taught in a completely different language. That is a huge learning barrier. There is literally no way for them to keep up with the kids from regular English speaking schools. Which at the end of the day is going to put them at a disadvantage. Now if learning Spanish is the most important thing to you and you do lots of home schooling to offset that learning barrier, then by all means, go here. You'll love it. The second thing that was not made clear when we enrolled and that I found concerning was that not all the teachers speak English. And by that I don't mean they choose not to speak English, I mean they only know Spanish. Which is a sketchy thought at a preschool. Our kid had some issues getting bullied, which is fine. Kids are kids and it just needs to be resolved and everybody learns. But the teacher who was there didn't know what the kids were saying to each other so nothing happened. Which is not the end of the world. Our kid will be fine. But then you think about, what if there's an emergency. How is the teacher going to call 911 or communicate in English to get help? Or what if a kid tells them they have an allergy or something. It just seems like a recipe for trouble. The head teacher told us she was trying to encourage these teachers to learn English. Hopefully that happens as I think it will help things. The last thing that was just odd was when they had my kid's class eat lunch outside when it was legit 40 degrees out. I'm all for kids playing outside in cold weather. They are moving around and keeping the blood flowing. But sitting still and eating lunch. You can't find an adult who grabs their lunch and goes and sits outside when its 40 degrees to eat. I thought my wife was joking when she told me. My kid was so cold he didn't even eat his food. Which once again, my kid is fine, but its just odd. I've never heard of a preschool doing that. Just food for thought. If you are dead set on your kid learning Spanish I definitely recommend this place. The teachers seem nice and your kid will learn Spanish here quicker than anywhere else. read more

We sent our son here and were very happy with the school. Susana has great communication by phone, email, and/or text. She has a great curriculum and is always looking to improve and add change things up. You won't find Tonka trucks here like you might at "typical" schools, she actually uses toys and items that expand the mind a little bit (light table, garden, etc). We rolled our eyes a little bit when she brought in a yoga instructor, but our son loved it and was constantly showing off his yoga poses to us. If you are interested in the program, be sure to get a tour of the inside of the facility - Susana has worked hard to make it warm and inviting. Lastly, she does a great job of posting pictures both on Facebook and shutterfly so that you can see what kinds of activities your kids are doing. She does this several times a week. We enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting an intimate Spanish Immersion preschool. read more

2 years later and we are still very happy with this school!! The teachers are experienced, caring and attentive and the education provided is high quality. The school is small, which is very comforting for the kids. Activities are varied to keep the kids engaged and learning, but consistent enough that the kids know what to expect each day. Amazing preschool!!! I don't normally write reviews but I have to take the time to write this review. We have had the pleasure of sending our girls to summer camp for two years now and they love it. We would send them during the school year if we lived here - we spend the summer visiting family in Austin. My 4 year old daughter loves her regular preschool - but has told me she wants to stay at Atelier Preschool forever!!!! The teachers are wonderful. This is a perfect time for kids to learn Spanish. The school does an amazing job of teaching through songs, reading/writing, art etc. I am amazed with how much my girls learn. I highly recommend this school! read more

My 2 year old son has been attending Preescolarte for a few months, and we couldn't be any happier with his experience there. The teacher is warm and communicative, and the other parents and children are friendly. The class size is small, so the teacher is able to adapt each task to students' individual needs. Once inside, the space is homey, stimulating and immaculate. Weather permitting, students play outside every day. My son often brings artwork home. At home, he enjoys singing the songs and reciting the nursery rhymes he has learned at school. We took our daughter out of this school after the first semester. She cried every single morning before taking her to school, but we weren't sure if it was because this was her first school experience or if the crying was due to the overall sense of disorganization I perceived from the school. Susana was extremely frustrating to work with; she changed the days and hours my daughter could attend multiple times before she started school and even during the first week of school she changed the days! This affected my work schedule obviously, and I had to ask to change my work hours multiple times to my embarassment. It seemed like she had no grasp on how many kids were in attendance and what days they were attending even on the first week of school (and there were no more than 12 kids attending)! She also shortened the school day from the time I signed my daughter up, making my life more difficult with my job. After two days at my daughter's current school, there was no more crying in the morning. She also never picked up any Spanish after 5 months at Preescolarte, and my daughter is very bright (she could read at 3 years old). I regret all the money I wasted there on registration fees, material fees, etc. along with the tuition. read more
