Terrible policies, requiring kids to wear camp uniform everyday, despite they use public school buildings and facilities. This is not a kind of girl or boy scouts! Poor customer service and very inflexible about reservation and heavy penalty for cancelation. Stay away from them. Update: Thank you, Mike, for the explanation. Perhaps the company should consider to update and reimage the 30-year old policies on strict scouts-like dress code (vs. freedom of expression and choices, except for field trips) and stringent cancelation penalties (both high and time-constraint, $100 deposit per week on or before April 30 for camps in July). They should make the policies more friendly and welcome to families and communities. read more

Our girls went to KV camp in Lakeway for 2 Summers and loved it... Unfortunately, we tried sending them to the Rough Hollow location this Summer and had a terrible experience. There's no way I should pay almost $5,000 and have my kids come home upset over having a bad day at camp. UNACCEPTABLE. We brought the issue up to the camp owner/Director, Mike (who we really respect & like!), but we were routed back to the counselors we had an issue with to rectify the problem. Instead of a calm discussion about the issues our girls were experiencing- my husband was yelled at by the counselors and told that our girls were lying. I'm sad to write this report and have no I'll will toward LV or the counselors, but parent to parent - YOU SHOULD BE AWARE. read more

I signed my 4 year old up last year only for a few weeks. I was really afraid my daughter would be over whelmed from being in this different type of environment. SHe is use to being at home all the time with a nanny. I've seen kids not adjust to day care other type of situations like this. I couldn't have been more wrong. The first day I picked her up she was very exhausted and very happy. She told me about the games and crafts they did. Of course I was even more surprised when she started singing all these new songs she learned at day camp. She had something to teach me - new songs! She was disappointed when her week of Kidventure was over and she only had her mom and dad to play with on the weekend. Drop off was so great. As soon as she got out of the car - all of the counselors and I do mean ALL the counselors knew her by name and said hello and smile and really engaged with her. It was not just for show. She really bonded with the counselors and all the kids! Being a nervous parent at first about leaving her with 'strangers' - they were anything but strangers... the staff and counselors really do care - you can tell. They are in it with heart and soul. For that I'm truly thankful for the experience and I will not hesitate to sign her up in the future. I took a few pictures of my daughter and the star of the show - the owner of Kidventure - Mike. I can't say enough great things about the Kidventure program and staff, they are outstanding!!! Both of our kids (5 and 9) have had the opportunity to attend the Camp Westlake program this summer. They loved every minute of it and can't wait to get back the next morning. The staff does an excellent job of entertaining, engaging, and challenging the kids in a supportive and fun environment. We will definitely be back for more. read more

I can't speak to the quality of the camp, because my son changed his mind about doing a sleepover camp 11 weeks prior to the camp start date. I can share that they have a policy of NOT returning deposits for overnight camps. So be really sure your kid wants to go, when you enroll, or you'll be out $130. read more

The Avery Ranch Community was fortunate enough to have the counselors from Kidventure man the inflatables at the annual July 3rd Fireworks Celebration. The counselors truly added to the event with their friendly and professional attitudes. I'm excited to work on getting Kidventure plugged into the Avery Ranch Community! read more

My 8 year old tried a number of different camps last summer - and this one was her favorite by far! Small groups help the kids on the shyer side plug in and participate. Camp counselors are awesome and truly engaged. As for the person that ranked so low on Yelp because of the refund policy, they do state it clearly - so it's hard to stomach giving an organization a low score for what they do (which is camps for kids) for a policy you didn't like. read more

This is a very well run camp with well-trained counselors. I sent my 11 year old daughter for several weeks last summer and she had a great time! Every week they do a field trip and they keep the kids interested and active week after week. read more

My two kids, 9 and 5, went to Kidventure day camp this summer at Eanes. They both absolutely loved it - couldn't wait to go each day. My five year old would get up on the weekends and put on his camp shirt and want to go! The entire experience was great, I can't say enough about what a good camp it was. I'm definitely sending both kids again next year! read more

This camp was fantastic! All three of my kids went to the day camp. This is the only camp that is run like a real camp. They sing songs, play games, go swimming and even have a show at the end of the week. Every counselor was energetic and fun. My kids can't wait to go back. read more

We are Texas' premier summer camp program, operating summer day camps and overnight camps in Austin, Houston and Dallas. We've been helping grow kids since 1994. We're sure to have the camp program you need, with day camps for kids aged 3-13, overnight camps for kids 8-14, and our new teen-focused day and overnight camp programs. We employ an all-adult staff of college students, certified teachers, and specialists. All staff are certified in CPR, First Aid, and Sexual Abuse Prevention. We maintain a 1:8 camper to staff ratio in our Early Childhood program, and a 1:10 ratio for our campers aged 6-15.

Kidventure started in Houston in 1994. Over the past 17 years, we've expanded to Austin and Dallas. This past summer, we helped make a difference in the lives of almost 4,000 Texas kids.

Then you can head over to the birds of prey, the reptile/fish building, and the animal enclosures. There's also a little lake and a large sand pit (dino dig). There's a cool room in the visitor center that has all sorts of nature items (bones, dead bugs, shells, rocks, etc.). You can bring in your own stuff to trade! Is it a huge amount of things to do/see? No but for a free attraction, it's pretty great. Parking is across the street -- lot is shared with Zilker Park and all the nearby attractions so it can get busy.

I didn't know what to expect from this place. Some science centers are kids-only affairs (despite…read morenot being billed as such) while others have more to offer visitors of all ages. Fortunately, the Austin Nature & Science Center ended up falling in the latter category. The main building houses an assortment of bones, shells, and rocks (as well as an axolotl tank) and another building is home to various reptiles. Outside areas include a dino pit (where kids can dig for fossils) and several animal enclosures. What makes the latter unique is that the animals are rehab/rescue cases. They include everything from a bobcat to a porcupine to a 34-year-old one-eyed owl (!!) and more. Granted, Austin Nature & Science Center does offer more for a younger crowd, and it isn't particularly easy to get to by bus, but it's hard to argue with a chance to take in flora and fauna for free.

So I wanted to make sure we made a stop here while we were in Austin as it seemed essential for having a good city experience here. Barton Springs is open every day but Thursdays so plan accordingly for that. I am told it's a day where they clean the pool. It took a little bit of navigating to get to the pool as we had to plan to come here on a hot day as opposed to a rainy day which we were encountering here on our trip but it worked out fine. We landed on a warm day and got pool time. And Barton Springs is perfect to come to on a hot day. The temperature is between 68-70 degrees which makes it great swimming all year round here. The bottom of the pool has plant life and it's not all concrete and polished at the bottom so be aware of that... it's definitely has a natural look. There are also signs not to touch the rocks at the bottom as it is the home to some rare amphibians I believe. But aside from that as long as you follow the signs you're good. The water is extremely refreshing and invigorating and even after leaving the pool and you are on your way you still feel for a while thise sensations which added more to the impressive experience we had here. Parking fees and entrance fees to the pool are reasonable. It's $5 if you are a resident and $9 if you aren't. I highly, highly recommend making a stop at Barton Springs if you are in Austin... it definitely helps complete the city experience here.

It's a pretty big park, offering several different landscapes and activities. Great for families and outings with friends. The city views were beautiful. The forest and springs had that cooling effect that made the hot sun bearable. The springs were cold but very refreshing once fully submerged. A little too cold for my water loving 2 yr old. He also didn't like the green algae but still enjoyed the experience. Warning: VERY SLIPPERY in the springs and uneven rocky trails in some areas. Have water shoes if you don't like to be barefoot. The bottom of the springs swimming section feels smooth; slippery with some uneven dips. We stayed on the approved 4ft or less side for my kid's life vest. Bring a float or rent a canoe to enjoy the deeper waters. Pro:There are several ADA ramps we could have used for the stroller. As 1st time visitors we took some risky chances trekking down rocky slopes and too many stairs that wasn't necessary. Find the ramps. Con: Multiple entrances and parking. We were almost defeated by the parking situation on a Saturday early afternoon (1pm). We drove around over an hour looking for a spot in the many parking lots closer to the swimming pool section. With so many entries and people barely leaving it was a constant flow of new cars swooping in forcing us into lot loops. So close to turning back, we kept following the water trail and figure there had to be another way to the water! Bingo we parked on the other side of swimming section and took the 12 min walk directly through the fields to the pool area. If you're like us you'll drive around the parking lots so much you'll learn the landscapes. Must pay for parking. We got a ticket after following the advice that there are no parking fees on the weekend. Don't listen just pay the hourly rate parking fees. Swimming Pool Fee: There is a minimum fee associated with entering the springs. Fees are tiered by age and residence. As non-residents we only paid $13 ($9 adult/$4 young kid). Veterans are free, no ticket, must show VA ID. Reasonable fees for the amenities, especially the life guards and bathrooms. Downloading the app is easier and faster than standing in line at the credit card kiosks. The teller windows are a little faster but, cash only, We were pleasantly excited to also take advantage of the playground and train ride. Super cute. 2 year old loved both. Highly recommended for visitors who like to explore, be in nature and community, and stay cool.
