Master Kim is the best Grand Master who learned authentic TKD while growing up in South Korea. I have entrusted him with my daughters for over 11 years. One of the best little secrets in St. Louis!

I have known and…read morebeen associated with Master Kim and his school, since he started in 2011, when he started out in Webster Groves. Many even know I've supported them for years on social media. Thus, I pass all of this with a heavy heart. I feel an obligation to pass this, as a lot has been overlooked, and as a parent, I've been concerned for my children's safety, and mental well-being while attending the afterschool and Summer camps the past 2 years. I have always been a supporter of his school for TKD, and their recent expansion for the AFTERSCHOOL and now SUMMER Camp program. I will say to parents - send your children at your OWN RISK. I am not speaking of his regular TKD classes, which still instructs their students in the TKD style they are known for. For example, their staff during these programs are minors. They are not accredited childcare providers, I don't even believe they are CPR/First Aid Certified to name one that should be obvious. Yes, they have adults on staff but the adults don't even have their "eyes" on our children during the day. They have installed security cameras recently, but these do not replace "supervision" which it has lacked. My recent concern is of the "minor" instructors being reported to "hit" our children. This, in my book is a red flag. That instructors do not have the maturity to understand "appropriate" behavior with our children. The school has also notified me (2 weeks before school starting and paying the registration fee early) that my child has now been "waitlisted" for the afterschool program (2025 school year) because they "short-staffed," and this message was passed by the staff to me, after asking them to investigate these acts of "hitting" by the caretakers. Unacceptable. Therefore, parents, if you see "red flags" it's probably true. "Trust your gut" and I'm truly disheartened by this school and the management. Again, I am not negative on obtaining education in TKD. I do myself, possess a Black Belt in TKD and have always been a fan of #minoritybuisnesses and #martialarts. I am not a fan of lack of supervision when it comes to child-care/afterschool/camp, which is so unfortunate in this case.

First off, Professor Kyle is great. He was very friendly and welcoming. He introduced me around to a lot of the guys and game me a tour of the gym. You can see what type of vibe a gym has by seeing how the students relate to him during class. Here, you can tell they respect Kyle Watson, but are also friendly with Kyle and there's plenty of friendly banter. Kyle is very attentive throughout the entire class and the class is put together with a lot of thoughtfulness. Kyle is attentive the entire time and super helpful in giving instruction and tips. 2. The vibe of the gym is great. Here, you'll find competitor and hobbyists. Everyone was very kind and skilled. No one is off to take off your head and you can tell there are some skilled people on the matts that can turn it on (if they wanted). Great number of training partners. I can see guys getting good here pretty quickly. And if I lived around here, this would be the gym I would pick. Chill vibe but people here work hard. 3. Facilities. This place is HUGE. Upstairs and downstairs mat space. Mens and women's lockers. Showers. Plenty of space to put your gym bag. The place is CLEAN throughout. 4. Schedule. An underestimated aspect of someone choosing a gym is the schedule. Bottom line, if there aren't a lot of options, you're more likely to stop training. Here, there are a ton of options for advance, beginning, go and no gi. Bottom line, give this place a shot. You will not be disappointed.

True definition of hurts SO good!…read more I've always been an avid fan of this sport but never imagined taking any classes. I was introduced to this place from a friend two years ago and have been coming ever since. When I first came, I was able to use a 7-day pass and take a few classes. I was nervous because I hate not being good at anything (especially when it comes to sports) but also because I didn't know what to expect. The first class I ever took was Mimi's class at 10am. I was able to meet with her before class to go over the basics. It made me feel comfortable, especially since I didn't know what I was doing! For that class, It's an hourlong and consists of a warm up, 8-rounds three minutes each of boxing combos, and then 14 minutes of abs and core. While she has since left, Dominic has taken over and I believe still keeps the same format. Over the last two years, I've tried out several classes and instructors, but have grown to love the 45 min class on Saturday's taught by Drea. She's engaging with the class, thorough with her instructions, has challenging workouts and the BEST music! She wasn't here yesterday and the class was taught by Jaffet instead. One thing I appreciate about this place, aside from the bomb music they play, is the consistency. No matter who's teaching, I'll always get in a good workout, learn new combos/ moves I'm unfamiliar with and leave feeling like I just conquered the world! Yesterday was no different and I was really happy with the class overall. If you're looking for a change in your workouts, a rush of endorphins, and feeling accomplished, look no further than SLBC! They have classes every day of the week and have something for everyone no matter what skill level. If you're not quite ready to commit to a membership, you can always pay per class as well! Did I mention it's black-owned? Keep up the amazing work, Heath and Diontre!

I love Leslie's 60 min class on Sunday at noon ("VIOLENCE!!") and the Wednesday evening Box+Flow (i do not do enough stretching, so im grateful yoga is on offer). With the 4-pack, I have to choose one or the other each week, but I'd like to go to both. Sometimes I have to miss a class I reserved, and usually I just eat the credit. The staff are nice. It's a great workout. If you are thinking of picking it up, I think you can't really go wrong with any of the offerings here!

It's hard to explain, but there is a holistic approach here that I would imagine has to be pretty unique - especially among gyms that include MMA instruction. This a place of healing, which doesn't meant the workouts aren't hard (they are); it's just that if you have a nagging injury you can get help with that here too. Whether you're in your 50s and looking to stay in shape or you're fresh out of high school and thinking about training to fight, there's a place here for you. The climate/culture of any gym that provides martial arts instruction is going to be a direct reflection of the owner; there are plenty of horror stories out there about unqualified blowhards creating dangerous and toxic training environments for their students. You won't find any of that here. Everybody is here to help each other get better and egos get checked at the door. If you've been thinking about getting into the fastest growing sport in the world, this is the place.
