They told me up front that if their services were not a good fit for my son or our family, they would be able to cancel our membership. Now that I'm trying to get out (I lost my job and have no income), they're still charging us. Having been a business owner myself, I would never treat my customers the way this business is treating me. read more

My son Anderson started kickboxing about a year with trainer Auhston has went above and beyond to help my son not only master kickboxing BUT helped his mindset and self esteem. He takes the time out to know my son so he knows how to better train him.He is an uplifting trainer that really tones in with the client. Takes the time to teach my child the best way for him to get more experienced. He has became a mentor that Anderson looks up to, for a mom you couldn't ask for a better place to take your child. The staff is amazing, Kelly always greets you by name, interacts with the kids. I would recommend Finneys to anyone for overall experience. read more

I chose this gym because it had pretty good pricing for Student deals. It was 100$ for both the summer and winter break. If you are a college student, this is pretty nice. Finney's has a pretty expansive MMA facility downstairs with lots of room. I never did any of these MMA or jiu jitsu classes but they always seemed very busy. I can only speak to the upstairs half of Finney's which is their actual gym. They have enough cardio equipment for anyone into that. The free weight section is pretty comparable with two squat racks, two flat benches, an incline bench, dumbbells up to a decent weight, cable pulleys, and a bunch of nice plate loaded machines. The only reason I had to take one star off was that some of the equipment was a little old and not the best quality. For example, the flat benches are skinny, made of a cheap material, and the length of them are too short to get a quick lift off motion. Other than this, the entire staff is extremely friendly. I never did any of the personal training so I cannot speak to this either. Overall, good gym and for a great price if you are a student. read more

The facility is older, but the MMA programs are always full. Over the past year, they have brought in a great group of personal trainers: Freedom Fitness All N One My trainer, Rachael, is professional, tough, has high standards, checks on me throughout the week, and even sends workouts when I'm not available to come in. I highly recommend the trainers. read more

I've been coming here since 2012, love love love this place. Tim, Kelly and the entire office staff are always friendly and so accommodating with all my training needs. The kickboxing and boxing classes are so convenient and a lot of fun. The instructors are very knowledgeable and highly skilled. They interact with everyone in class and really make each exercising fun and challenging. I started personal training with Erik Steenberg (the fight team coach and personal instructor) about a year and a half ago. I'm extremely happy with the results I have achieved in my striking technique and weight training. I really enjoy our sessions. Erik is professional, courteous, and consistent. He always challenges me to do my best. I love the diversity of each session and how he gauges each exercise for my personal needs. I just signed up for another year! read more

looks like it would be an ideal gym. Very outdated, needs a deep deep deep clean. The mats aren't cleaned well and I'm scared of Staph infection. Kelly is always there not super friendly but there so a familiar face. Never used the daycare but I noticed no covers on the outlets. As far as communication you have to email everything. You get responses from a child/young adult. I assume they work with the community to employ the highschoolers that's awesome. You can't ever call, so when it came to cancelling it was a NIGHTMARE. Good luck if you choose to start here because you cannot leave! I moved to another party of town Festus to be exact showed proof of address and all they still wouldn't acknowledge and sent a lawyer after me. Planet fitness is $10 down Watson and much much cleaner. LOTS of grunty, skipped leg day ,guys are here too read more

I've been a member for a year. My favorite thing about this gym is that it has a friendly, family atmosphere. I joined for the boxing/kickboxing classes and class membership gets you unlimited monthly classes, so it's worth it if you go regularly. It also means that classes are run even if they are small, and as a regular member, you get to know your trainers and staff. You also will likely see some of the same people in your classes and get to know them, hence the great atmosphere. My spouse joined to take advantage of the gym space for $10 a month on my membership, and my son can go to free childcare, so we all go together on the weekend which is GREAT. The facilities are not super new, but I would rather be in a space that is reliable and where everyone is there to work hard than one that is sparkling, but no one knows your name. Plus, if you are interested in sparring, they offer beginner and advanced sparring sessions. So you can be there to learn how to fight, not just get some cardio in. PS- maybe in the past, parking was a problem, but I have NEVER had a hard time getting a parking spot. read more

Well last month I found out that my 24 Hour Fitness location at Northwest Plaza would be closing within less of a month, even though there is another 24 Hour Fitness location near my job within 10 minutes my issue became the classes there. I've taken them before and quite frankly the only one I really liked was the cycling class. So I decided I want to take back up my boxing class at my old gym King's Fitness Center. So I gave them a call on Friday and what did I get "The number you have called is no longer in service, if you would like names of similar businesses please hold...." Ummmmmmm excuse me? So not only am I losing my regular gym location now I'm finding out the place I was going to for boxing lessons is no longer an option as well. So I decided to go on a hunt and find a new location close to the job so I could go workout straight after work. So I was torn between one of the closest Title Boxing Gym locations and another gym called Finney's MMA. So I decided after work one day to go check out Finney's and I must say I was thoroughly impressed. My concern was that whatever gym I decided to join would have not only have the workout equipment that I would like but plenty of classes to choose from and I must say from what I've seen, this place had everything I was looking for in spades. Their boxing and kickboxing classes have options between Co-ed and Women only. They also do various classes from Yoga and Pilates to BootCamp, Zumba, and TRX. Did I also mention they do MMA training also? Yep! So I didn't even bother going to Title Boxing Gym, I was just too impressed with Finney's. I've been at the gym now for over 3 weeks and I can honestly tell you I am having a wonderful time. The instructors are awesome and I've made friends in my different classes. Overall the staff has been nothing but respectful and great! I'm glad I joined up. One of the best decisions I've made this year. read more

I've been going to this gym for about 3 years. Although definitely not state of the art I'm reviewing because I think some of the negative reviews are unfair. First-cheapest gym around. I've looked and this is the cheapest one in the area, maybe we got in with some kind of special, we did sign a contract. The boxing/kickboxing classes are expensive and they are crowded. I've always found parking, always even when there is one class getting out and another one starting...plenty of parking. The staff has always been friendly and I've never felt uncomfortable approaching them about any issues. There is a good mix of people, senior citizens, college age kids, and a lot of working people. Unfortunately, the building is old and the ladies locker room is terrible, drippy sinks, old counters and sinks, damp and smelly........ I try to avoid it at all costs. My biggest complaint.............the TV's on the elipticals are frequently broken. Lastly, they are supposed to open at 5:30 am, but some times the staff has been late opening. When you are fitting in a workout before work.......5-15 minutes waiting for someone to open the place is annoying. read more

Don't get fooled by the tour they give you or your children...they are god awful rude and NEVER clean the gym! Dust everywhere. I talked to Tim what a great salesman ha! Terrible attitude i wonder if the owners knows he talks to people any kind of way. The gym is over crowded with trainers you feel uncomfortable. It's not worth it what so ever. They put on what I like to call "shows". When they let your child try a class they put on this front and it's never like that again. The equipment is outdated for them to cost as much as they do. The TVs rarely work on the machines and they are not compatible with your smart phones. Just head down to lifetime fitness it's worth it this place is not! read more

I visited this gym for a quick workout while visting family over the holidays. Perhaps we do things differently in LA but when training Jiu-Jitsu I'm used to the instructor actually paying attention to what's going on... no texting, playing Angry Birds or overall staring at his phone. I mean the dude (I think his name was Ezra) was literally heading for the exit before we were done sparing. Other than that the gym was clean, staff was friendly, and members were cool. read more

I have been competing in combat sports for over 20 years and Finney's has one of the nicest, cleanest facilities that I have ever trained in. Their prices are very reasonable compared to any gyms I have seen with instructors of this high of caliber. I find it confusing that someone on here posted that they were unprofessional as I have had a very different experience in my 3+ years training here. Most of their instructors literally compete at a professional level in the disciplines they teach and it shows in the way they engage and instruct their students. They are always friendly and willing to put in extra time after class if there is a concept I am not quite understanding. I have never been to another gym that made me feel as welcome as they did from the first day I walked in the door. Over the years I have occasionally seen people come into the gym with a "tough guy" attitude. People that were not willing to learn from someone else because they were already an "expert" boxer from training in their garage or something. I would be willing to bet some of these negative reviews are from people like this who left upset after realizing they were not as knowledgeable as they previously thought and their ego was bruised. If you are looking for a place to pad your ego while taking your aggression out on someone, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a clean, friendly gym to expand your knowledge, make a ton of new friends and get into the best shape of your life then I don't think you could do much better than Finney's MMA. read more

Best gym I the stl. Amazing trainers, best in the United states. I have been there for 5 years and it has changed my life.

I have moved on from Finney's, but I still give their MMA and Judo instructors top marks. Erik is a first-rate standup instructor who fought professionally before leaving the octagon to full-time teach and he excels at that. Finney's recently added Judo black-belt (Shodan) Vince Weibert to their "faculty" and, having trained with him for years, I also give him very high marks: first-rate communicator and "hands-on" teacher who still competes whenever possible. read more

I went in for a free class over 6 months ago, the only time I went back was to make sure I wouldn't be charged for anything. Now I've been charged for a membership I don't have. When I called I was told I would have to wait for a manager to contact me, which would probably be tomorrow. I was clearly lied to, and I would not recommend anyone to go to this place. I agree with other reviews that say they only want your money. read more

We love Finney's!! The kickboxing classes are great. My daughter does mini Finney's and loves. It has helped her in all the other sports she plays. The instructors are incredible. They are kind and patient and very knowledgeable. The gym is never crowded and the equipment is clean and never broken. I personally train with Kelly Hogan and have never felt better!! Finney's staff is like family, welcoming and friendly and know most clients by first name. You should not go to any other gym!! Finney's has it all!! read more

The most unprofessional place I've ever been to. First the all, the prices are terrible, the staff is rude, and the location is awful. I went there in fall '11 for a free class and to get some information. I decided to not join at that time because of money A few months later, I was in a position to join the gym, and I called spoke to someone. I specifically told him that I was there in the fall (4months earlier) and decided not to join because at the time it was on the high end of price for me. I told the guy that I was able to join and wanted to come in. I asked the gentleman if the prices were still the same. He said they were not the same as the prices from 4 months earlier. The gentleman on the phone offered me another free class even though I already had a free class four months earlier. I thought that was really nice of him. He also said that he would talk to me after the class about membership. I set up my free class and I went to the facility. It took me 20 minutes to find a parking spot because there were not enough parking spaces. Myself and several other members ended up parking at the parking lot on the other side of Finney's. The lady told me it was always like that and sometimes she has to drive around a few times and wait until someone leaves. Once I went inside, I waited at the front desk for five minutes until someone finally helped me. I told them that I was signed up for a free class. I have the guy at the first desk my name and he put it into the computer. He said, "yeah you were here before". I told him that I was. The guy also said "you said you weren't interested in joining". I politely told him that I was able to join now and I was offered a free class. I also told him that the gentleman I spoke to on the phone set it up and he would also talk to me about membership prices. The guy at the desk said, "it's the same as it was when you were here". He also would not let me into the class because I already has a free class back 4 months ago. I told him that it was offered to me and I told the gentleman on the phone I took a free kickboxing class already. He offered me another free class on his on. The guy at the front desk didn't care and still wouldn't let me in. I asked if they had any forms or any information about membership I could take with me. The guy at the front desk said "no, too many people gym shop and we don't give out papers". That was enough for me. I left and found another place that was better, professional, and easy on the pocket. Finney's has very rude staff. I think the 1 star is still too high. If you are Interested in boxing or kick boxing, there are other places in St. Louis that are a lot better. read more

Do NOT go to this gym if you wish to workout in a healthy environment. For starters, they have a huge leak in the roof that cases part of the ceiling to collapse l, almost injuring another pay customer. This ceiling leak has been going on since January if not the end of last year. If you ask the manager about it he'll say that it doesn't get fixed overnight, which I agree with but it's half way through March now and.... the leak still exists. Now onto the machines. They have TVs, yay! Oh except they don't work, boo! Also if you bring this up to the manager or the rude short haired blonde women who works the desk they'll tell you that they work perfectly fine, and maybe that's so for them but they never work for the gym patrons. Now onto the workers. The manager is rude as is the blonde women I touched on earlier, but the other people are great, if they are their long enough for you to get to know them. The owner of this gym only cares about what goes on downstairs, mma and kickboxing. But hey if you like black mold, which is most likely growing in the dilapidated ceiling then sign up with no contract, oops I meant no commitment, oops just kidding if you try to leave that will swindle out as much money as they can from. I will be calling the health department read more

I'm 19 and a college student. I thought that I would join here because it's close to my house. It's very unprofessional, and all they want is your money. Everything is over priced and I wish I never joined. I could be saving so much more money. And the contracts that they have are dumb. They literally take money out of my bank account every other week. The gym is so small there is barely any room. The people there are friendly but some don't know what they're doing. If I were you i would totally stick with club fitness or 24 hour fitness. It's WAYY cheaper. I wish I could get out of there! read more

A pretentious, cramped gym with rude staff who lie to get you locked in to a contract that you have to break your leg to cancel. Not worth the money! read more

This place is only worried about taking your money!! Bottom line! They are not worried about helping you or taking responsibility for their staff. I would never recommend this gym and they are so over priced it's ridiculous! read more

I joined this gym back in April of 2015. My appreciation for this place and the amazing people that work there, I can't say enough about. I joined because I was completely uncomfortable in my own skin. I signed up with a trainer and it has been the best experience. The staff is always friendly and helpful, they are always willing to give you tips and any advice you may need. It has definitely become my second home and the people that work there are really like family along with the other clients. I never thought in a million years I would love going to the gym as much as I do, but to be honest it's become my favorite thing. I owe this to the amazing people that work there that make every hard sweaty workout a great experience. I'm so happy with my results and to a great trainer for always pushing me and never letting me give up. Love my finney family. read more
