If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. I went in a month before my renewal of the year tanning package. Tanned one last time and asked the lady to put a note on my account that I would not like it to renew and I would like to cancel my account. She then replies with, "we do have multiple locations across the US, if you'd still like to keep it." I simply replied, "No, I do not need it anymore, please cancel the account." I go in and do my last tan. I do not think of it because I assumed (silly me) this girl knew how to cancel an account. I am now battling with customer service 4 MONTH LATER (mind you, still have not not received a call back and have left several messages), STILL BEING CHARGED EACH MONTH and my ACCOUNT STILL NOT CANCELED. This company loves to steal, not listen to its consumers when they says they would like their account canceled. I am beyond frustrated with this company and I just want my $200 back. It's really not that hard. I also was informed by a young lady at a location that the company will only refund me 90 days worth of my money, when this is simply their error. I was a month ahead of the renewal and it still renewed and I will only receive half of my money taken. If anyone knows how to call anyone back in their customer service department. I am not this harsh or mean with customer service, as I have been in the this industry for 10 years, but this company has be fuming and people who consider tanning here should know what they are signing up for. Front desk staff and manager is terrible to deal with. If you want to deal with teenagers and people who don't care about customer service, visit this place. They care nothing about you, aside from a commission for signing you up on a monthly plan. If I ran my business this way, I wouldn't have any customers. If you sign up for a month and decide to cancel, you will need to contact your credit card company to stop the monthly charges. The company will also refuse to refund any past charges made between the time to requested the cancellation to the point of contacting your Credit Card company to STOP payment on the canceled service. read more

I used a groupon that says unlimited sunless spray tan for a week. It does not mean unlimited sprays, very much false advertising. It means you can choose one thing per day in their menu. Then, I went into the booth and it was out of bronzer so I had to get redressed and let the attendant know, she then said they were out. Oh and the groupon says 20$ for one week... but it is $20 for a month when you walk up to the store. read more

I stopped in At the Beach to get a quick spray tan glow before a wedding that upcoming weekend. The front desk salesperson refused to let me do just one spray tan and told me I would need at least 3 to see any difference. While I understand doing multiple spray tans would be better, I just needed one and I was leaving the next day for the out of town wedding. My experience with this location of At The Beach has not been ideal so far. If I could give one piece of advice to everyone I'd advise you to never believe anything any employee says to you. They will lie and tell stories in order to get you to buy packages, lotions and other things. Do your research on your own, on the Internet, and trust your instincts. First of all, NEVER buy any lotions or extra items at the salon. Much like a movie theater, the admission price is expensive but the extras are expensive to the point of being ridiculous. You have to pay their fees to use a tanning bed, but it would be crazy to buy their lotions. For example, a $20 bottle of expensive tanning lotion online is at least $50 at the salon. They'll give you lots of reasons why, but if you do your own research by contacting manufacturing companies and other resellers you'll quickly find out that it's all lies from the salon in order to sell products. Be smart, and don't pay their prices! As for the salon itself, I've been going there for almost three weeks and there are still no paper towels in the ladies room. It's extremely inconvenient and kind of gross for the customers, but what does that mean for the women who work there? They spend their days cleaning up sweaty tanning beds, right? If there are no paper towels, how are they washing their hands? My guess is that they are not, and that's unsanitary and nasty. The beds seem clean, but who really knows? There are places in the walls around the beds where you can see between the panels, so it doesn't seem like they care much about your privacy. It also took me about 30 minutes to purchase my contract. The girl who was working at the counter was obviously new and had to make multiple phone calls to her boss in order to figure out how to charge me a monthly fee. She never could figure it out, so I offered to pay the entire thing all at once. Then she mentioned that not only could she do that but I would get a discount for doing it. She never even mentioned that, originally, and the original price she quoted was quite a bit different than the final price. One last bit of advice: be absolutely sure your door is locked before getting undressed. The doors do not have handles on them, only turn locks. It's very easy to turn the lock without actually locking the door, so you should try the door after locking it to make sure it's actually locked. Would I recommend this location of At The Beach? As far as tanning places go, it seems pretty substandard so I wouldn't recommend them. Just make sure you don't buy any lotions or anything else, and make sure they charge you correctly. Do the math yourself before you let them charge your credit card. Buyer beware, as they say. read more

Painful sales pitch if you're coming for the first time. Packages, lotions, long disclaimer about... oh yeah, that they don't provide FDA-required eyewear - you can either come fully prepared with your own (said no other tanning salon ever) or buy theirs for $3.00. I asked if I could just use my sunglasses then, but I guess that's not okay with the FDA. I wonder what their profit margin is on the tanning goggles that it offsets losing customers their first time in. Staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. The hours are good and they have all the different types of tanning booths for everyone.

As long as you can shut out the constant nagging to upgrade or purchase their grossly over priced lotions everything is fine. The place is clean, the equipment is maintained, and the results are great. The staff is always friendly and if you time it right and take advantage of their BOGO (buy one -get one) events, the price is very reasonable. Pretty much everything that needs to be said already has with this company; they're horrible. I am reaching my two year mark as a customer. Which means Im free of their bs contract. I have ,however been thinking about my options if I were to continue this marry-go-round cycle with them. Me thinks after today hell and no. I get SO TIRED of them always trying to upsell me with bs products or lotions. O I will miss your constant hounding me to upgrade my already overpriced contract. Your superficial "fake " employees who pretend to be my best friend -just to sell me overpriced expensive lotions I neither need or desire to use. How I will miss the constant haggling with my bill the "surprize" late fees among other "fees" that you attempt to swindle me out of. However, the thing I will miss the most is the outright lies you tell to my face. "Of course only At The Beach is the "Only" salon that has the versa spa system. Bought a 3 pack of spray tans because they were on special. I do spray tans quite frequently and rarely have had a mishap, I did a Level 3 with a bronzer and the moisturizer. Before I showered the next day (which I normally look way too dark after it processes) My husband told me I didn't even really look that much tanner, which with a level 3 I should have been way darker. I showered the next morning and found myself completely splotchy all over, seriously looked like I had age spots all over. I had a friend with me and the same happened to her. I called to ask if something was wrong with the machine and the girl told me no but they had been getting complaints (which was not mentioned before I bought a 3 pack and all the upgrades) and said she would have a manager call me about refunding my tan. I have not heard from anyone and I had to go somewhere else and get an airbrush tan to fix it before my event. I went back in with my friend because she was brave enough to try again and the girl working was completely rude when I brought up the situation, I had told my friend the girl on the phone recommended not to do the bronzer and the girl working that night talked to me like I was an idiot and that the bronzer wouldn't do anything to make is splotchy. I worked at a tanning salon for 5 years and that is not how you treat a customer at all! PS she convinced my friend to do the bronzer and AGAIN she was splotchy. So just beware of their VersaSpa, it was my first awful experience with a VersaSpa. read more

Okay, I read all of the reviews and I would agree that ATB is a very frustrating place to go tanning. I go there because I was signed up on a monthly promo that gives me unlimited Versa and I have yet to find a better price. Having said that, this is a place where things are not consistent. Sometimes I have a towel...sometimes not. Sometimes they are nice, sometimes not. I get anoyed that they offer me lotion everytime I come in and insist that they "see" what lotion I brought in. Typically the girl behind the counter is on a personal phone call and oh-so annoyed that I came in and interupted. However, there is a newer employee working at the 104th and Federal location named Brandon. He is so nice, not pushy at all and actually seems to care about the customers experience at his location. Way to go Brandon! I hope ATB treats him right so he will not quit...his co-workers should learn something about not being snotty to a paying customer from him! read more

I went and joined their store in Arvada CO knowing there was a chance I could be transfered. I was getting married and wanted to have some color for the pictures. When I went there, I specifically asked if I could cancel my membership and was told that I absolutely could cancel if I moved to a city where they do not have any locations. I was also told that I would be given a better lowe rate if I paid in full. I again asked if I had to cancel my memebership due to a possible move, would I be refunded. Again, I was told that I would be. When I called 4 months later to cancel, I was then told by their customer care that I would not be refunded any money for my remaining membership. Had I not speciffically asked that question before signing a 12 mont hcontract and paying in full, I would be upset with myself. However, I specifically asked that exact question and was essentially screwed out of the cost of 8 months worth of tanning. If I could give a negative star rating I would. Writing negative reviews is the only way I feel that I can feel better so this doesnt happen to anyone else. Beware of signing up for this company's service. read more
