I arrived right at open on a weekday to avoid a long wait and crusty customer service at the end of…read morea day. The young guy who interfaced with me put forth bare minimum effort toward customer service. I asked the difference between the versions of the iPhone 15/pro/max, and got "titanium, and an extra camera." No elaboration. By him not demonstrating product knowledge or even an ounce of enthusiasm, I had an easy choice-- I took the free upgrade in the basic model, (and I'm a pretty easy target when salespeople explain the benefits of a higher-tier model.) He said "Color preference?" without informing me what the options where- and when I asked what my choices were, he rolled his eyes and said he had to look in the back. Next, he laid out a couple different options for cases, but left some out. I liked one of the cases still hanging on the wall and asked if it fit the model I chose, (yes), so he retrieved it. He asked if I wanted a screen protector, (yes) and got out the store version; I asked for Liquid Glass instead. (By the response I've received from retailers over the years, retailers don't like to sell Liquid Glass because it works. I have dropped my phones a zillion times and the screen never even had a scratch or ding.) He proceeded to put the product on the screen, but didn't follow the instructions, (wait 5-10 minutes before buffing off.) Then he threw the packaging in the trash. I asked for the packaging, since I would need it in order to register the product for its warranty. By this time, I knew this guy was just annoyed to even have to work with customers. Every piece of information he provided was because I asked for it. Over the course of my experience, he probably said 10 words. If a person works in customer service/ retail/ sales, there are two factors that make or break it when it comes to retaining customers, and that's product knowledge or credibility, and soft skills. This employee didn't demonstrate either of those things. Shoppers being made to feel like an inconvenience make for shoppers that wouldn't think twice about switching carriers if a good deal popped up.
