I've had so many problems with AT+T. I know what my password is, their solution to my issue was to change my password, then everytime I tried to log in, I'd get an error message, basically saying I tried too many times. So I could not get email, which I needed for work. That sucked! Then every night around 1AM, my internet would drop and I was unaware. Then my phone bill would be $30 higher for usage. I've been on the phone with them trying to resolve my problems and I knew that I had to have at least 2 hours to stay on the phone. One agent said I should wait a week and he would call me back! Hahahajaha!!! Nope! Finally, I was told it was their issue and they would look into it. But what about me?!!! Why am I paying $71/month not to have service?!!! I'm writing this for two reasons, 1. So people don't become victims of the same trash that I have, and 2. so I don't punch a hole through my wall. Where do i begin, there's so much about ATT that is complete shit i dont know where to begin. For starters the way we got trapped was by some POS salesman coming up and making me sign a contract that was completely different than what he said would be included. They also repeatedly attempted to charge me for data usage despite having an unlimited data plan. The router they sent me was so shit that their customer service agent (who took nearly an hour to reach because they only use Ai for service) literally could not help me, and ended up having to send us a new router. not to mention how little their Wi-Fi can handle, if i have more than one or two people using the internet, then the connection moves at a slugs pace (for example, i currently have 3 people using my 5G WIFI and a ten GB update is going to take about 70 hours to download, and that is not an exaggeration). There are also certain spots in the house which get absolutely no signal, and it isn't like I have a large house. That's what AT&T is doing even though they have not upgraded their ability to handle cell phone traffic. After moving to Miami Beach, I was forced with the decision of selecting an internet service provider. This decision was extremely important to me since I work from home full time out of New York City. In essence - having a internet service that works is part of my very livelihood. I spent almost a month with a connection that failed to load images properly, cut me off from instant message conversations and takes hours to download songs and podcasts. This is unacceptable in 2012. (see images of AT&T). I called up the AT&T customer service line. When I signed up for this "service" I got right through. When I needed technical help it took me about 40 minutes on hold and being transferred to get to the right person. He told me that there could be a possible issue with my modem and offered to send me a new one.. Shockingly that took a week and a half. When I connected the new ( really not so new re-furbished) modem, I got large red flashing lights indicating to me that there was a problem. It DID NOT WORK. I had to dis-connect it and re-connect the other sub-par modem. I am now back to using the other modem with absolutely no improvement in my internet connection. I am sure that if I called them again, it would take another 2 weeks to get me a new modem. By that time I will be pass my 30 day grace period to cancel service. I am canceling this service. It is horrible. If you are even thinking about getting AT&T U-verse - do NOT do it. This experience has taught me how large corporations like AT&T have absolutely no corporate responsibility - and through advertising are able to persuade the public to use them. Very bad service ever since we signed up. Our internet is SO SLOOOOOW! Their "On Demand" feature is the worst I have ever seen.The amount of shows offered On Demand are paltry compared with other cable tv service providers. Often the tv and internet just shuts down without warning! Getting a repair person to come switch out the hardware is not easy. Recently, after setting up an appointment with one, Uverse called me to see if we could resolve it over the phone. I told the rep three times that I had already tried that. She kept trying to cancel the appointment! Needless to say, after the tech switched out the hardware, our service was and is STILL SUCKY. I know there are some mixed reviews on Uverse (just like with Comcast or DirecTV) - I almost didn't get it because of some of them but I figured Id try it and I am glad I did. Wasn't sure about switching to U-verse but a few people at work have it and said they were happy with the service. I have had Comcast for years and then I switched to DirecTV for the past 2 years. I was a little hesitant about switching to U-verse but I couldn't stand DirecTV's on demand (or losing signal during storms) and Comcast prices just seemed like it was priced high for what you got in the package by the time you add the HD options. I did like Comcast and I think they have the best on demand features but I think Comcast picture quality isn't the best. ATT offers a 30 day cancellation on U-verse so I figured I'd at least give it a try. I just got U-verse TV and internet installed the other day and I have to say I am very impressed, more than I expected. After having all three and all things considered, I think U-verse tops both Comcast and DirecTV in features, price and quality. The picture quality is great, easily better than Comcast and I would say on par or slightly better than DirecTV. The menu and guide is fast, clean and well thought out. I really like the browse features that lets you surf channels and see a preview and info on-top of the show our watching without going into the guide. The Guide option also lets you set up favorites or hide channels from showing up on the main guide.You can also set up multiview that shows 4 channels at once. The U-verse On Demand is great; it is fast and has a huge library of movies and shows with a good amount of back episodes that play instantly in HD. The on demand menu is set up really well and is very easy to navigate and find what you want fast. While U-verse On Demand is leaps better than DirecTV it still needs more content before being as good as Comcast On demand - which is why I gave Uverse 4 stars instead of 5. That said I still am able to find all the Prime time shows and premium channels series so it really hasn't been an issue. There are also some apps like the Facebook app that pulls up facebook without interrupting the show your watching, you can also comment on the show your watching. I know another reviewer was complaining about how slow Facebook and yelp app was on his U verse but I have had no issue at all - it is fast. You can also see the weather, sports scores, and other things all while watching a show. Installation was great and on time and very professional. The speed, picture quality, fast guide , real on demand along with the additional features, like the U bar or wireless receiver to move wherever you want, makes U-verse feel like a step up and forward from both Comcast and DirecTV. If you are thinking about getting U-verse, they are expanding quickly in South Florida. You can go to the AT&T site and see if it is being offered. The key factors in your decision: 1) we are in a hurricane zone and do you want to rely on your cell phone if you lose power. With a digital phone, you lose power and the phone doesn't work unless you have a generator. If don't want Digital Phone service, then your residence needs a second good free pair of phone lines in your home or the installer may need to re- wire your house. 2) does your residence have new coax wiring and can an installer easily install a network (cat5) cable to each televsision outlet in your home. In some buildings like mine, that's not easy without some serious drilling. 3) do you have to have HBO - then you need their highest priced package 4) how many simultaneous stations do you watch/DVR? If the answer is more than 4 (ethernet or cat5 supports 4 simultaneous channels only). 5) how important is 22MB - 32MB Internet vs 4MB to 6MB DSL that you may be getting now. Unfortunately, it's complicated! Update: Yikes, after submitting this review with 3 stars, I was trying to be diplomatic as a loyal AT&T customer. AT&T tried to install U-verse, but the installation failed due to my requirement of wanting to keep my land line. AT&T rolled my account back to a DSL/landline account (it took 3 hours before my DSL worked again (same IP). AT&T even sent a repairman out who increased the speed of my DSL by almost 25 percent. 5 days later, my land line no longer worked and my Internet was 75 percent slower. I heard from the guys in my building that AT&T was here all day installing U-verse for other people in my building. Maybe someone hi-jacked my lines! Well my DSL works again but now I'm hearing that there is U-verse Internet only. Remember, the best solution for U-verse is to have them lay Cat5 or Ethernet Cable through you entire home, to each place you want your TV or the Internet. Before you make your appointment, you make sure you have cleared space for each place you want a TV. Our neighborhood signed up with this cable company so that makes matters worse because they know we can't cancel their services. Problem one. I take the day off to wait for the cable guy to install service they confirm the day before between 10-12 so I wait, and wait and wait 11:45 no call no show he finally knocks on my door at 2:15. No "I'm sorry" "my apologies for being late" Nothing and to top it off the guy has a mayor attitude. I have a spa appointment at 3 that I had to cancel because the guy took for ever didn't know what he was doing had to call someone for instructions how to do this how to do that. 2nd I go online to set up my account. Well they already issued me a logon and password along with security questions. They must have because I didn't. Called customer service and since I didn't know the answer to the questions on my security questions they wouldn't give me access to my account. Asked to speak to a supervisor. AT&T Uverse department effectively stole my Christmas Money (I paid the full bill before my payment was due, and they also took the same amount from another linked account on the due date) and now decided that instead of refunding it as promised on 12/26, they were going to apply it to my bill at the end of JANUARY. These guys just don't get it. I put in an order to use AT&T as my internet provider. They sent me a modem with the self install guide. After trying to install the Modem myself i ran into some issues and decided to call the company. Once on the phone with a technician we came to the realization that a tech. would have to come out to my house to complete the installation. Once they told me the price, $120, I decided to use Comcast. I asked them where I could drop off the modem they sent me ant they said they did not have a place and that they had to send me a return label. I NEVER RECEIVED A RETURN LABEL. I kept getting calls from AT&T asking for their modems and I kept telling them I have yet to receive a label... to make a long story short, they sent my account to collections and it has affected my credit score. We paid a deposit that after we left, was told was non-refundable. What is a non-refundable deposit? CROOKS. Then when we ended our contract I cancelled the service and everything was squared away, but i got a bill for another month. When I found out we had a bill i contacted customer service and they said they didn't have a cancel order. so I cancelled it again. This time i saved the transcript. They told me i was supposed to get a refund from some payment for the last bill but haven't seen it yet. Bottom line: AT&T is almost a century old and is skilled in games that take money from you. AT&T Uverse is a joke. 24.00 Mbps is between 0.95 and 3.33 Mbps! They are too inept to identify the problem and sent me a replacement Gateway which as expected resulted in the same slow internet speeds. They then wanted to send a tech out but are incapable of keeping an appointment. The "some time" between 12PM to 4PM appointment was rescheduled to "some time" between 6PM and 8PM. Instead the tech shows up at 3:30PM when nobody was home. When I called them back about this they wanted to schedule for another day - acting like there was no record of my rescheduled appointment, offering dumb excuses and frivolous apologies. He said someone would be at our house to dig up the line as there was a problem with the line that goes from the main box on the road to the house. 5 calls later on Saturday, I'm told some will be here at 3pm. Not surprisingly, no one showed up. Then the dispatch is closed on Sunday. Monday I'm told I will have to pay 99.00 to have someone out to fix their problem that they made!!. NO stars. Wow, AT&T sucks CAPITAL S-U-C-K-S. They are such a tear your hair out customer service nightmare of a company! Seriously. I still have the same connection problems from day 1 that no CSR can seem to solve or know what the hell their doing because another CSR clearly told me sending me a NEW modem/router IS NOT going to solve my problem (another CSR's solution)! Plus the hassle of me having to drop it off at the post office because I live in a townhome. Ahhhhh!!! =( Did I mention this happened in the course of LESS than a month? Then there's the time I called about the connection problems while driving so I didn't have the account information in front of me. The CSR transfers me to UVerse who cunningly (of course) did not solve my DSL problem but just prompted me to switch over to UVerse and "I won't have those problems". Then I see the email confirmation of a $29 activation fee and an additional $4 product fee? WHY wasn't I informed on the phone of this? I was wrongly transfered and then I was coerced to switch to a more expensive product as a "SOLUTION"? When I received the email I called back (4 hours later) and canceled. They said okay. I got the darn UVerse modem/router 2 days later. WHY?! They told me to return it to the UPS store and pretty much dodged the 2, 3 times I requested for a return label. Guess what? UPS didn't accept it and told me to contact AT&T for a return label... HOW MUCH OF A HASSLE HAS THIS BECOME FOR LESS THAN ONE MONTH? Hold time was almost an hour and I was hung up on/"disconnected"/dropped a few times. Too much. Not even worth the 12 month $25 DSL price plus $100 router/modem (another money maker because that dinky no namer brand router is NOT worth $100). I HATE AT&T and their ill trained customer service. After the tech failed to show up in the 3 hour window I was first asked to continue to wait as if 3 hours wasn't long enough. Then I was told the tech would leave the install he was doing and come do my installation, which rejected. After a considerably longer conversation than necessary I was told my service would be cancelled. Unfortunately for me I had previously had an automatic debit set up and of course AT&T continued to withdrawal money from the account even though they knew the service was never installed at the new address. Shame on me for not watching more closely but after almost a year I noticed the money was still being withdrawn. There first statement was "we have no record of you cancelling the account so we will give you $180" of the $500+ we took form your account. After acknowledging the account was never active at the new address the amount went up to $240, it was $300 but they billed another month and wanted to keep that $60. Bottom line is these people have no soul. As I told the fourth person in the fourth department, I am not interested in letting you keep any of the money you took without rendering any service. It's now December 31st the year is ending along with my patents, as it's the same problem over and over. It's really 3.5 stars, but it's got the potential of being 5, quickly. The Bad - Uverse has limitations based on the wiring in a neighborhood. They're upgrading as they go, but if you have some limitations, there's no timetable for the fixes. So, in my instance, we only have one HD stream to the house. That means that I can only watch and/or record one HD show at any given time. Watching is no big deal, but there are tons of HD shows that come on simultaneously that I'd like to record. Now, I can record/watch up to 3 other shows in SD while recording/watching one HD show. Next bad thing is that only one of the 3 receivers we have is a DVR, so that is the only one that we can pause/rewind/etc live TV. The other two can only have that happen if the show is being recorded. The Good - More channels for less money. The bundle of TV/Internet/Phone is great, paying less for the 3 services and getting more. The internet Elite package (6mg), which is two below the fastest and most expensive package, is blazing fast and has a reliable, secure and stable wireless setup for your whole house. The quality of the channels is nice. The Fair - No big deal, just something to get used to is the switch to a whole new channel lineup and where they reside in that lineup. Also, the HD channels are on the same channels, just with a 1 in front of the 3 digit SD number. So ESPN is on 602 in SD and 1602 in HD. The remote has a bit of a kooky layout, with the DVR controls at the top of the remote, so it's a bit off balanced, but otherwise nice. The install does take 3-5 hours, but the techs were great and clean and didn't waste time. The big time spender is the outside/pole wiring. The inside stuff is pretty quick. Ask your ATT store how many HD streams/feeds there are to your address. They might not know. Count on 1, but hope for more. I'm overall happy and know it's only going to get better. My bill was higher than they said it was going to be in the $200 in rewards that I was promised, I never saw even though I called every month to check on them and they said they were processing. After 90 days suddenly there was no record of any rewards on my account and then it had been too long since I originally signed up and that there was nothing that they could give to me now. I chose AT&T U-Verse, like many others I'm guessing, because of the low cost compared to other Internet providers in my area. I was told I would get a deal the speed I wanted for $29.99 a month. I was then charged $49.99 a month literally every single month for the year I was with them- every month I had to call and they would do an "adjustment" that sometimes went through and sometimes did not. I ended up not getting refunded over $100 throughout my time with them, because of months they failed to refund me. During some of my calls, the customer service provider would seem more competent than others yet the outcome was always the same- they would have given an adjusted refund, with no actual change to the monthly price. I ended up disontinuing the auto-pay, and having to call to pay each month and getting the adjustment made every month, which is simply ridiculous. Talking to a supervisor was just as useless. Toward the end of my 1-year contract, I talked to someone who realied I actually should've been paying $24.99 instead of $29.99, because I have a cell phone through them as well. They again seemed competent, but when they put the change in the system, they cancelled my account and my card was billed $130 for cancelling my contract early- when I called to get it fixed, I was told that the money would be credited to my account- they said it could take up to a couple of months to get my own money back they'd wrongfully charged me. At the end of the year, my husband convinced me to get a new plan with them that included cable, and said we could just hope they'd get it right with the new plan and price each month- again, the cost was half that of another company. I caved in and called- we were moving, so I had the service discontinued at our old address and set an appointment to get the cable and internet installed at our new address. The person I was speaking with was very confused, and kept quoting me different prices, and getting confused about which address I was moving to. I called later to confirm with someone who spoke better English, and they confirmed that the installation was at the right address and the price was as I'd wanted. The day of the installation, a tech calls me from my OLD apartment. I end up spending TWO HOURS on the phone to get the appointment cancelled, and try to get an installation at my new apartment that day but no appointments were available. I then finally find out that no one had bothered to check and it turns out that AT&T U-verse is not even available at my new apartment building- only AT&T's dsl, and a different cable that requires a dish, which I cannot have. So, at the end of the 2 hours I'm left with being told they will call the next day to confirm the time with me to install the internet, because it's too late in the day for them ot tell me. The next day, no one called, nor the day after. I called them and there was "no record" of my call nor any appointment. I cancelled my service entirely, and was told they'd get the refund check to me within weeks. I'm betting they're going to add on ridiculous charges or just never get the refund check to me and I'll be left calling them every single day again. Take my advice, there is not a single reason to go with AT&T- for the cheap price, you don't even get cheap-quality internet or service, you get something you'd wish you'd never signed up for, and isn't worth a dime. You'll get slow Internet, bad customer service with long wait times and limited hours to talk to them, you'll likely get overcharged, no refunds, and have a problem with them the entire time you have them. This the most horrible company i have ever dealt with, they are nothing but problems and over charges since month one. No one seems to know what the heck they are doing, they keep transferring you from one department to another...but its all in vain. I even closed my account with them and went with Comcast, and i still keep getting bills in the mail for service i don't even have with them. How despicable is that?!! They will never have my business again, let alone recommend them to someone. I hope ATT goes under soon, so no one else would ever go through the aggravation i am going through with this company; any where from home phone, internet or U verse. You guys changed my appointment without telling me, had to call 5 different time with reps saying they'd call back and never did.. Now after waiting a week for your new appointment, you're late. HORRIBLE! I Downgraded service, was told the overall bill would $49-tax from a supervisor. Got my bill today and it's $107, when I called and asked for a supervisor, the rep spoke so fast & tried to deflect the reason it was higher, now being told the supervisor not available and That they will call me back. Back in March I spent almost 16 hours on the phone and waited for a home tech visit(4hour window). Unfortunately we only have Comcast or ATT uverse to chose from read more

Michael from ATT did a tremendous job restoring our service by replacing our modem, by checking all our mobile devices, and by connecting our printer wirelessly. What a change from Comcast! And all this was done through a Short Telephone call and service call in a few hours Bill read more

Imagine taking a timed quiz for an online class and your internet giving out in the middle of the quiz. This is what happened to me while taking an online quiz for one of my classes at FIU (in miami). Since then, I made a point not to ever go back to AT&T. Also, with the outsourcing of their labor force, the customer service has gone straight downhill. When AT&T split into the baby bells, there was a labor union (Communication Workers of America) that protected employees. Southern Bell was the baby bell in South Florida and provided much better service. The baby bells merged into BellSouth which later merged back into AT&T. Same investors with different strategies of ripping people off by monopolizing the services they provide. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending how you look at it....there are competitors. read more
