We messed up by not giving AT&T internet we took x finity and it was so horrible. The service was non-existing we moved out of the house a year ago. We're still waiting for them to make their call all. I can say is don't buy DirecTV through there. Internet have the channels have hardly any voice their fuzzy. AT&T has been bad and seemingly getting worse over time. They seem not to care, even when I said I was going to Sprint. I was a 10+ year customer with ATT, treated very poorly. They rasised my rates and said they did not. I had many lost calls in Elgin and Schaumburg Illinois. Plus many lost calls driving to Ohio. I feel that the Customer service is horrible. I have been a long time customer of Directv, 2001. Due to changes in life, I moved out to a different place. Upon trying to get a new Directv I was informed by a At&t/UVERSE/directv customer service representative, she told me that Directv was unavailable for my new location, so I had to accept UVERSE TV service and internet. After I gave my information to her she said that she had no record of my previous service, my ex-wife had paid all of our bills, so all payment information was in her name, thus I have no past payment info. I had to pay a deposit fee, an increase in monthly payments for TV service and an increase in internet service. I have been a customer of AT&T TV and internet service since 2019. I was shocked a few days ago because I received a notice of non-payment for said services, odd because I have auto pay, I then discovered that my bill was raised an increase of $50./month, wow! My bank did their job in protecting my account, fraud protection, no extra money was paid out to AT&T/Directv. For 3 months I now owe $647.89 on top of my normal monthly bill. I contacted Directv, (which AT&T now either owns Directv or has total control of said services) the customer service representative informed me that I owe this money and that they will in fact turn off my services for non-payment. So, if you burn me once that is on me, but if you try to come after me for not paying you, and I can prove that I in fact I did pay you, then you (AT&T) have committed fraud. I have been forced to change providers and this comes with a downside of lesser options and reliability. Warning to the public, make sure you protect yourself and your bank account. read more

Just a note, especially for those many of you with At & T U-Verse: You are no longer able to "go into the store" (Stratford Mall location, or any "store location" for that matter) to speak to a representative or manager to address your bill concerns. They (and all locations) stopped doing this because I imagine 80% of people coming into the stores were mostly going in to complain about their service and/or the "constant price increases" and looking for resolve. I imagine AT & T corporate took notice of this, and then put a cold-turkey stop to it. After all, they want their employees trying to SELL products, not dealing with complaints and people coming in every few months to ask for an explanation why their bill suddenly jumped $20 and then another $12, and then another $14, and thus want their bills LOWERED. Now, we all are resolved to trying our fate at contacting customer service via phone, and we all know what joy that usually brings us. I couldn't select "zero" stars. I've paid in full for 3 months and have received intermittent (if any) internet service at my business. Customer service is awful, be ready to spend HOURS on the phone or online, being transferred many many times (double digits!) and usually resulting in nothing getting resolved. Sometimes you'll be on hold for so long that the system will tell you the phone call is over and to please call again! I will be CHARGED an early termination fee of $99.00 (even though I kept my end of the contract and they didn't) and will not get my money back for services not rendered for 3 WHOLE MONTHS! This review is for 109 W Geneva Road, Wheaton IL 60189 (630) 517-2190 location. This is a brand new store that opened about a month ago in the former Verizon wireless location. Since I am a AT&T customer I thought it would be interesting to check out their new store. And what a big disappointment it was too. The store is huge and when you go inside there is almost nothing in there. Except for of course their obnoxious sales force. As I entered the store before my eyes could even adjust to the inside lighting I was greeted by as sales person. I didn't want any help. I was there to check out the new store and I told her this. But unfortunately that was not good enough for her and she decided to stalk me throughout the shopping. I asked her for a phone case for my wife's phone. She didn't know if they had one so she took me to the manager. He was sitting at a desk in the middle of the store. He was rude and obnoxious and told her they had nothing for this phone and when she asked where I could get one he flippantly said Best Buy. Anyhow, I found a case here anyway. And when I noticed my stalker in the corner of my eye I flagged her over. Showed her how my wifes phone fit perfectly in this case and asked why I was told they did not have any case that would fit? She had no clue and the manager was clueless and didn't care about me or my needs. I currently use AT&T wireless, UVerse internet, TV and home phone. So I am an existing customer who should have been treated better. The sales person did hold the door open for me as I left the store. Their automated customer service is the worst I've experienced from a big corporation. For the love of all that's holy, just make it a simple 1 for "yes" and 2 for "no" instead of making me go through the infuriating process of trying to communicate with it verbally. It bothers me that this system isn't an actual person that I can find somewhere and gut-punch him for giving me such a hard time on the phone. Also, I'm pretty sure I'm being gouged on landline and internet prices. It's the year 2016 and I'm not getting anything more in my phone service than I was getting 20 years ago. Yet, the price is astronomical. People are walking around with mini computers in their pockets that are capable of remote starting their cars and I'm paying more in monthly bills than they are for the simple privilege of an almost obsolete landline. Sucks. AT&T, why do you keep asking people to go paperless, but you send countless envelopes full of physical spam that advertises special deals on satellite TV? Want to save paper? After months and months of really poor internet service, and a newer modem, I finally gave up with AT&T and went with Comcast. Service is much better. However AT&T refused to cancel the $75 "early termination " for service that was completely inadequate! I spent 1.5 hours trying to deal with this, and completely ruined my day!! I wish I would've checked yelp before going for their deal. I've had uverse about 2 months and had intermittent outages the entire time. A technician informed me today that its because I have a speed that's not supported at my address. So they upsold me without having that product! TERRIBLE SERVICE! If you have a choice to take your business somewhere else, then do it! I've had a long-winded process just trying to transfer my account over to someone else! Took a good four months! Not to mention, they continuosly billed me. I tried calling in when these bills seemed like they were just never going to stop, and got transferred at least 3 or more times, being put on hold every single time. I told them they should pro-rate my account back to when the new account holder was established, but they refused and said that there is no record of us calling in to disconnect. AT&T Uverse Internet is so bad that we quite happily switched to Time Warner after a miserable two months as their customer. More than two months after I dumped them, they have managed to waste yet more of my life by sending me a bill for a bogus "early termination fee." Here is how they were and continue to be awful, incompetent, and shady: 1) They screwed up scheduling installation in many ways, and installation was thus days late. We wasted hours on the phone (since hold took forever) to finally get them there and got contradictory information from different people about whether anyone was coming out. They also screwed up the password I gave them, instead putting in a generic 1234 initially, and pretty much screwed up every single thing from our initial conversation. 2) They charged us $200/month each for the first two months, instead of the perhaps $80 and $25 it should've been. The over-billing was due to: A) rebates not being implemented in a timely fashion for the rate (we were charged about $50 instead of about $25 and it was supposed to be); B) for a modem we had to buy that I was told initially would be free and later my husband was told would get a Visa for $100 to compensate us for within 30 days (that didn't happen); and C) being sent a replacement modem since service was terrible (we immediately sent back the old modem and were not told there would be a $100 charge on the bill that would supposedly be refunded in a future bill after they had received it). They fixed the bills after I called and complained, but the calls wasted my time and both the calls and the over-billing were exceedingly frustrating. They seemed exceedingly sketchy to bill in that manner, which could really screw people who don't have an extra $200+ to loan AT&T. Who knows if they would really have fixed it had I not complained and made it clear I'd take it to the authorities, too. 3) You often have to wait on hold for 20-30 minutes before getting to a human being and their call center hours are not convenient for the West Coast, since they close pretty early. I also have a lousy AT&T cell phone, which sometimes drops calls in my home despite the area being considered the best service area. So, calls to AT&T dropped (though perhaps they were on UVerse's end). Either way AT&T caused calls to AT&T to drop. So, being on hold with AT&T was costing me my AT&T minutes and the calls were getting dropped, forcing me to waste yet more minutes/ pay for overages, not to mention wasting my time. 4) Their service sucked. Web pages would not load about 1/4 of the time and our Netflix streaming would say "retrieving" and seize up about half a dozen times, sometimes more, in a 45 to 50 minute show. We had AT&T via the phone line and have Time Warner through the cable line. Perhaps that's the difference? We have none of the problems now with Time Warner. (The Time Warner connection isn't perfect, but it's way, way better.) 5) Shortly after we canceled, we were sent a check for what we apparently were owed shortly after. Yesterday, after more than 10 weeks after canceling and at least a month after they sent us the check showing they owed us money, they send us a bill for $150 for "early termination." The billing period was 4/16-5/15, more than a month after cancellation. They also tried to somehow "adjust" the check they'd sent (I'm not sure how). Yet, we didn't have a contract that we terminated early. So, I am having to waste more of my life on the phone with them. I tried calling last night, but of course they were impossible to reach because their call center closes at 7pm. Now, I'm on hold with them, having already wasted another 45 minutes of my life. I explained I never agreed to use their service for any specific duration or to a termination fee if I chose not to, but the call center staffer claimed they can bill me anyway because they gave me the lower rate for a year for being an AT&T customer!! They maintain they can just make up whatever terms and fee they want without anyone actually agreeing to them! Of course, I terminated because they failed to perform their part of the deal well by having such lousy service. Now I'm on hold waiting for a manager, and making the most of the time by spreading the word about what a nightmare of a company they are. The only thing that was not bad with AT&T was the tech, who was professional, nice, and did his job fine as far as I know. Also, apparently they've also taken the liberty of spying on their customers. See Wired's "Whistle-Blower Outs NSA Spy Room," which begins, "AT&T provided National Security Agency eavesdroppers with full access to its customers' phone calls, and shunted its customers' internet traffic to data-mining equipment installed in a secret room in its San Francisco switching center." So, if you want to get overbilled for crappy service that includes spying on you (or at least did as of a few years ago), sign up now! Otherwise, run for the hills. read more

So, I've had AT&T for a year and when my 12 month " introductory period" was over my Internet bill was due to jump from $30 to $50. Obviously, I'm a poor student and I could not afford that, plus the Internet service from AT&T was shoddy at the best of times, so I called them and practically begged them to keep my rates or have them do anything for me. They refused, on several occasions. I'm done. I don't expect anything from anyone but they were completely unwilling to work with me, in addition to having terrible and unreliable service, so I've gone with Comcast. No surprise as to why AT&T is doing horribly; I would not recommend dealing with them. Comcast has better deals, more readily available customer service and more perks to being a customer. read more

Do NOT Uverse!!! Not only is my internet connection SLOWER, but my home phone doesn't want to work half the time. They also neglected to tell me that my billing date would change, & the 250 minute plan I signed up for, to SAVE money? They neglected to tell me that if anyone that's not a Uverse customer calls me, I get charged for the INCOMING call too!! Bait and Switch On or around May 29, 2016 I had placed a call to At&t on billing paper work problems, after that was completed the sales personal convinced me to take a LG mini G-pad for a 1 time charge of $0.99 to stay 2 years because my other services were out of contract. I had asked a number of times was there going to be any other charges because if there was I don't want or need the Pad. To confirm and verify I asked him to E-Mail a Statement showing Total cost with break down - which he did on May 30, 2016 9:20 a.m. (See Attached E-Mail). As shown total cost was only $0.99 as agreed too with NO other charges including and any Features. As stated above AT&T stopped mailing me paper billings so I was not able to review for changes or any addition cost. After 2 months of requesting paper billing I found they did add two additional cost ($7.99 & $11.66) to the total billing making the bill increase by $19.65 per month or $471.60 for 2 years. I called on 8/10/16 to dispute added charges at that time they refused to back off and live up to their agreed contract but wanted me to cancel and pay them for a canceling a service .................................................................................... As a Comcast customer, I can't speak to AT&T's service, but I find their door-to-door salespeople evasive and rude. When I told them point-blank "I'm not interested in changing my service," they went into a classic diversion tactic, pretending it wasn't a sales pitch. You aren't fooling anyone. AT&T has the worst service, customer service is really bad, they think they are doing you a favor allowing you to use their service. TV would freeze up, always rebooting sent techs out couldn't solve problems. Bill continuing to raise finally got tired of complaining to them and cancelled service. Nothing was said about cancellation fee, the next week in the mail I get a new contract dated the same day I cancelled my service. So now they say I owe a cancellation fee. Being a senior on a fixed income they raise the monthly service when they want to, within 2 months my bill went up about $50.00. I now have Comcast at a lower monthly rate, no problems with service and better features than AT&T offered. They plan on sending me to collections and could care less what they do to me. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy all they care about are proving how they can control the situation. AT&T charges fees without notification and offers the worst customer service. I recently moved my service to my new address and was not informed that there would be a $149 fee. It just showed up on my next bill. I called customer service to inquire about the charge numerous times. After each lengthy conversation, they were never able to send me any proof that they had informed me of a fee. They just repeatedly told me it was a valid charge. I am truly irritated now that the Baseball Season of 2013 has arrived. Same complaint for last year's NFL showings. Why can't they program the DVR's to cover the WHOLE game??? It is so frustrating! Technology is smart these days. Either take out the commercials on the taping or lengthen the time to cover the "ENTIRE" sports event. I am MAD MAD MAD about this. A T & T boasts about the channel in the 700s series that shows 4 or 5 areas around the infield on the Cub games, and yes in case you are wondering I am a Cub Fan, yet they can't program a DVR to cover the whole game. Never again! I got uverse high speed internet Dec 2012,on a 30 day trial. I had nothing but trouble,could not get online had three techs out,still problems! i cancelled out my service,and sent equipment back to Texas with their UPS return label,and box. I have had to call them twice back in Jan after getting a bill for 1 month! I cancelled out m y service two weeks ater starting it,and returned equipment all on same day! W/I 30 days! I received a bill today April ,threatning to send it tocollection agency! This company has a lack of communication apparently among their emplyees and divisions! AVOID switching to U-Verse services unless you're ready for a lot of headaches with billing(!) This is NOT a joke: I have been struggling with AT&T to get my U-Verse bill straightened out from the beginning. In my case, I set up online payment through my bank and have confirmation codes / dates that show the amount due was paid on or before the due date sent to me by AT&T. The problem (in part) is that they said the bill was due on a certain date (e.g. 10/10/13) in their ONLINE billing; however, I then got a "courtesy" PAPER notice from them saying that payment was due on another (e.g. 10/9/13), or the account would be suspended. (Note the difference in the dates.) I just recently switched over from DSL to this service, as they basically crammed it down my throat as a customer, without offering me any choice in the matter, and claiming that the bill would be lower. (What a joke.) I have only been on U-Verse internet / phone service for a two months now and it has been a NIGHTMARE dealing with the billing issues. They are much more sleazy about telling the truth, and very heavy-handed about slamming those hidden "restoral fees" onto the account whenever they can - $30 per Internet / phone for a total of $60. I spoke to one of their customer service reps about this most recent billing error, and they offered to take the restoral fees off - but they didn't take them off BOTH the Internet / phone and they didn't advise me of this either. They left it on the phone service, and have pushed that charge ($30) forward to my current bill for no reason. (Note the sleazy / slimy behavior here.) I am still trying to get this sorted out, but I have to say that I NEVER had this kind of problem with AT&T when I had DSL. I REGRET ever switching to U-Verse services. The online bill is always incorrect / out of synch and they are really slimy about straightening out the billing, even when the mistake is THEIRS...(!). If this is not bad enough, I have also experienced service outages at various times as well. WTF has happened at AT&T...??!? I am very disappointed. Looking to move to Comcast SOON(!). read more

The worst experience I have ever had. HORRIBLE AT&T will drag Dtv down. We had fallen for the "bundle" that Dtv sold with At&t's u verse Internet. They didn't show up for their install- and it screwed up the placement of the modem for the Dtv install. AT&T was suppose to install first. Because Dtv did show up on time they installed first. When at&t did install it, some guy with huge disks in his ears who looked spacy showed up and couldn't fish wire that the Dtv said he should be able to do, to place the modem next to the genie (we have a full basement). The modem was spotty and slow frequently. It stopped working two times for long periods of time (5 days the second time). A few other times for shorter periods. The first incident of modem failure I agreed to an upgrade that I would have to pay more for to improve speed, and on the day of the install they cancelled that appointment because apparently they couldn't figure out sooner the modem couldn't be supported by their existing wiring- they needed an engineer to come out. No ability to tell me when this would occur. Their modem magically began working again and I was seriously considering canceling- so I told them I didn't want their upgrade- but just fix the external problems. I'd needed to re-evaluate their "service" after fixing their externals (which ended up being the problem- they had a bad port in the box down the street.). However, they never sent someone out to really fix it. A month and a half later the modem stops again. They made an appointment for two days later- never showed up. I called to which they assured me after wasting my day they were still coming only to call me two and a half hours later to tell me they weren't coming- but I was a "priority dispatch" appointment the next morning (8-12). They never showed up again, and didn't call. They told me my appt was for the afternoon window- no one showed. When I called they finally admitted they weren't coming- and had no idea when they would in the coming DAYS. They KNEW they weren't coming the entire time because they didn't have enough techs. While venting to numerous reps & "supervisors" (because each call lead to a chain of empty ridiculous words), I spoke to three AT&T reps who basically acknowledged AT&T makes ghost appointments, that they really don't know if someone will make it to. One supervisor said "I can't disagree with a single word you've said" when I told her AT&T had no business offering a service that they can't provide adequate service for in an area- regardless of their partnership with Dtv and benefits to both. She agreed and said they "oversell" the service. The guy who eventually did come (NOT an independent contractor) 5 days later said they went from 50 techs to 15 in the Capitol of Springfield Illinois!!!! Comcast- who happily accepted my call to set up install after my third no show AT&T appointment, came out less than a day after AT&T. They kept their appointment, hooked the box up where the TV receiver was, and told me they have 75 techs and are suppose to be getting 25 more soon. When I signed up with AT&T I asked specifically about their service- I was assured it was good and I would have top notch service. Really? With 15 techs in a huge city? Such a lie. They lied plain and simple for self interest. They knew they had no business telling customers this. A total of 5 missed appointments in less than a year and messed up the install. Yet Dtv is going to merger with them?! Ugh! I dropped both Dtv and At&t and requested respectfully that Dtv waive the cancellation fee or refuse to use AT&T as a preferred provider- to stop referring customers to them knowing this. Instead of being shocked and determined to demonstrate that this isn't acceptable or normal for their affiliate to treat their referred customers, they told me they'd "return my cancellation fees if I SIGNED BACK UP WITH THEM"!!!!! Not joking. They said this TWICE to me. Instead, I switched to Comcast- purchased my own TiVo Roamio (better than dtv's genie- can have more than 4 and is superior), got two minis (they play anything off the Roamio (but you don't get charged for a receiver on those tvs, and can play any show on your iPads (and download shows for away). I will pay $150 (actual total cost with fees). My savings will pay for the equipment in just 6-7 mos. Between AT&T and Dtv I paid over $230/mo and will never own the equipment. My internet is faster now, signal optimal, and Comcast has techs to help you for installing your equipment if you don't want to rent. TiVo techs are fantastic too- no extra charges. They all speak understandable English- most seem to speak English for their first language. AT&T modems- their "Help" might as well use magic 8 balls. They don't know what they are doing. There needs to be 0 star button for this company! I signed up with them 2 months ago, and cancelled within 20 minutes because I found a better company. I got confirmation numbers and they said it was done. Two weeks later they sent me out equipment. I called to recancel gave them my last confirmation they gave me a new confirmation number and said it was cancelled and I returned the stuff. You would think that would be done, but not when you deal with AT&T. I get a bill saying I owe for the monthly service. I call, the lady says there's an error she will correct it not to worry about it. Three weeks later I get another equipment shipment without any return address label so I have to call to find out where it needs to go. Then a week after that I get a past due notice on the bill that was supposed to be cancelled. I called and they tell me they will see if it can be adjusted and have a manager call me back. So after 2 months never having the service and keep getting equipment shipped to me and numerous phone calls to cancel it, I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy! Direct TV offered to pay my buyback fee, up to $200. As soon as I get this BILL problem figured out I may !!!!! Tv often needs to resync with modem. They changed me to paperless billing, I changed it back to regular paper bill. Now it seems to alternate every other month! I have been an ATT customer for 7 years, I missed the first payment and they shut tv, internet and phone off, FAST. Amazing how much control some companies have, but have NO control over fixing things when they are in the wrong ! Thanks ATT for letting me be one of your numbers# without a name. THIS CALL MAY BE MONITORED FOR QUALITY PURPOSES !! Ha! If only calls were monitored !!!! It is a GAME these companies play, till they wear you out and you want to give up. I am in the same situation. ATT kep charging me twice for the same period after my cancellation. A big rip off!! As soon as I terminated my contract, they denied my access to my online account, making hard for me to pay my last bill. I called to complain and told the represantative "How can we pay if you deny my online access? I my invoices are online", the represantative responded "well, if you don't pay, we can always send you to collections". After that, I submitted a complain in writing and never heard back. I kept receiving letters that I had an outstanding balance, even after they had guaranteed that my last bill was already paid. read more

I am joining the hundreds of other customers that are outraged by ATT lack of what used to be customer service. Without fail most employees do not know what they are doing, yet answer questions with false information. I have complained to the BBB twice. Oh they will call concerning your complaint(s), but of course, as usual, there is nothing they can do. One women called saying she was calling from the presidents office!! She wanted to let me know he would be contacting me soon!!!! oh please. At last a suit called and we discussed the problems. Good news! I have no contract! This means when I say good bye (which I am going to do) there will be no fee that is charged if you opt out early. ATT is not trustworthy. The deceit is rampant, ask for the total monthly charges, what is quoted does NOT include EXTRA FEES. I pay $70.00 a month for one UTV and internet. Such a deal, my tv plan is at the lowest "family". This review is for the AT&T store on North Ave. I've been going to this location for several years now and the staff is always friendly and quick to provide fast service. I went in today to upgrade my plan, and to get a discount credited to my billing cycle which my employer offers in connection with ATT and I was in and out in ten minutes. I opened a DSL account with At&t for my rental property in 2011 middle of March. Here is the phone # 888-333-2828 I contacted. Since account opened, everything doesn't go correctly. For the rental property, I never live there. I called same toll free number 3 times and asked at&t put my living address and service address both on bill statement then send bill to my living address. So on that way, it is much easier for me. They said that they can't do it; only one address can be showed on the bill statement. I don't know why gas company, electricity company and water company they can do it, why ATT can't do it?????? I wish I could cancel it but I have to finish one year contract. Then I wait for almost one year, actually one week to one year I called ATT to cancel the service. The guy pick the phone call said that is too early, and have to wait for one more week to cancel. Exact one year, I called to cancel it, another rep said that is OK. No problem. I thought that is OK but it is not. Two month later, I went to my rental property, there were a few bill statements in that house. I called ATT again, asked why? The service rep said that ATT system is updating now and can't find anything and asked me call back later. 3 weeks later I called ATT, the lady picked up phone call said that I may owe ATT money and asked me check all payment then call it again. One week I called it again, the guy pick the phone call said that don't worry about it, he is going to take care in this time. It looks once I opened the account, I cannot close it. Now it is getting worse. In August of this year, I went there, and saw 2 letters from Franklin Collect Agency. I opened it and called ATT right away; at this time I didn't talk to any service rep, only manager who is Miss Yun. She said that she is going to clear my account and asked me call Franklin Collect Agency to remove my case. Should I call Franklin??? It doesn't make sense!! Of course ATT should call Franklin. But I called it. I gave my case # to the guy, and sounds he accepted it. Until last Friday, my refinance rep called me said that my credit score drop down too much and I cannot do it. Horrible!!!! I have had (just) internet for almost two years. My monthly payments started off affordable and sure enough they've continued to go up, to almost $80. Again, I receive ONLY internet! No warning of when your bill will jump prices, just rolls out on the new statement due to "promotions ending" I called to try and get a different plan and oddly enough nothing was available. It's rediculous you have no options and no control over what you're spending on services. read more
