I have been to a few shows at gammage and each time I am so happy to have this in our backyard. I just watch Hells Kitchen which was amazing and I have seen a few more like The Temptations and Suffrage. Thank you Gammage for giving us the arts.

@YelpPhoenix, @ASUGammage, @stepafrika! On the heels of a beautiful MLK Jr Day was Step Afrika! Pride. Proud. Overwhelmed. It's how I feel whenever my story, our story is given a voice, a platform, a stage. From the first strike of the drum to the final bow, I was spellbound. Through dance, song, and art, Step Afrika! put Jacob Lawrence's Migration Series front and center while using movements historically seen in Africa and perform by African American Fraternities and Sororities. Step Afrika! was founded in 1994 by C. Brian Williams and is the leading authority on the art form of stepping and one of the top 10 African American Dance Companies in the US.

Have not been to Gammage for many years. Received two tickets to see the Musical Shucked for a Saturday afternoon performance. I knew parking was going to be a challenge. Parked on the street a mile away after dining in a Restaurant and caught an Uber, that worked out very well. Went through Security and was impressed with the number of people there to help you figure out where to go. The seats we got were in tier 2 in the last row and the acoustics were great. Show was excellent. There were over 60 seats in Row 8. Even seats are on one side and odd numbered seats were on the other side. Figured that out after a few tries. I remember when Gammage was first built and surprised the Yelp ratings are mediocre. This venue is one of the best as is the architectural design.

Cool architecture on the bridge

I've been to ASU Gammage twice. Once was for a performance of Life of Pi and the other was for a live screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show during their 50th anniversary. When it comes to venues, there are a few things I look for: 1) Parking: ASU Gammage is located on Arizona State's campus in Tempe. Unfortunately, they only offer paid parking. And parking on the street is notoriously hard to come by in Tempe. You can find a spot for free, but you're likely going to be walking for 15 minutes or so. Which is what I do as I like to get my steps in and I'm allergic to paid parking. 2) The Venue: Some good and bad here. First, the good. This theater was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the most prominent U.S. architect. I'm a big FLW fan and I've seen his properties in cities across the country. FLW's trademarks, namely how light enters the building and how he creates space, is seen here. The creativity is awesome if you look hard enough. Case in point: he designed the theater in such a way that if you're on the second level, you can exit easily after the show by using an exit that takes you down a bridge. At other venues, you're stuck in a human traffic jam. Not here. And you'll also see some beautifully designed lights on the bridge. The downside? The seats are pretty uncomfortable. 3) The Views: ASU Gammage is a pretty big theater. I've sat on the second level both times, and while the view isn't bad, you are a little far away. I prefer a more intimate venue, but on the flip side, given Gammage's scale, they bring a lot of Broadway shows here. So the selection is going to be quality. While I haven't had any food or drinks while I've attended a show, they have your usual assortment of beverages and snacks. As the self-appointed king of the arts in Phoenix, I'll be back soon!

I've seen many shows at Gammage, from row 12 in the center to way in the back of the balcony on the side. It's gigantic, housing a ton of people. What I've learned: where you sit really matters get there 20 minutes early for parking there will be traffic bring a sweater, it's cold in there! you will walk, so don't go crazy on heels if you didn't pay for VIP parking They have some great shows come through, and it's a pretty building. They have snacks and drinks at movie theater prices. All in all, solid but not astounding.

First time seeing a production at Gammage. Orchestra B row 23 seats 48/50. Great view. Sound booth behind us, roomy seats, close to isle for easy exit to bathroom and concessions.

We absolutely loved the show Shucked!!! However, the acoustics in the upper balcony are really poor and many people in the audience were complaining that they couldn't hear the vocals in the play. It seemed that there were no speakers projecting to the upper balcony maybe? I'm not sure, but it was very difficult to hear. However, I'm sure that if you're on a lower level the sound would probably be better.

We came to watch a special Christmas Mannheim Steamroller show. We had tickets on the second level. The sound of the instruments was fantastic and our viewing of the show was great. What a joy this was! The Mannheim Steamroller band was fantastic and brought back so many childhood memories for me. There were plenty of concession stands at the auditorium to purchase drinks and snacks. They were quick . We had a phenomenal time at the show and I would most definitely come back here. The Gold parking lot we paid for was already full by the time we got there. It did take us an extra 10 or 15 minutes to park so if you're going to a busy show, please allow yourself some extra time. They do have a bag policy as well so please look at the instructions before going to a show. What a great night ! This show put me in a holiday festive spirit and I would definitely come back to see the show again.

ASU Gammage Moulin Rouge was PHENOMENAL.GREAT performers & FIRST CLASS performance.Parking was easy, in & out, thanks to the VIP pass I had. We had great comfortable seats & the theater staff were kind & friendly. Definitely looking forward to the next show :)

I had tickets to see a show courtesy of Yelp Phoenix. (Shoutout Yelp Phoenix) I was not able to confirm if I could take pics so I just decided against it so I wouldn't get warned or kicked out. The show was ok but the theater was really nice. The only thing that sucks is 1. No one answers the phone when you call the box office even if it's open. The voicemail lists the hours and the phone still just hangs up after that message. 2. Although it should have been clear, I could not determine if parking was free or paid. Hence me trying to call the box office to find out. Which , was unsuccessful. The staff or volunteers rather, were very nice. Everyone was friendly and able to answer my questions once I was there as it was not easily made where to go to see the show for a first timer such as myself. Anyway, if they can fix the phone thing , it would be easier for those who look to the website for answers and still have questions that needs to be answered.

I like Gammage for their selection of current Broadway touring companies. I appreciate the latest major renovation that added improved bathroom facilities. However, I had hoped for an improvement when it came to the acoustics. For example Girl from the North Country and Jesus Christ Superstar I sat on the main floor and the middle of the first balcony respectfully. I had a very difficult time understanding the words and lyrics sung by the performers. I don't know if it's the acoustical setup of the traveling show or if it's an issue with the acoustics of the performance Center. I was able to hear Wicked with fairly good clarity all three times I saw the performance at Gammage. Be forewarned, unless you know the songs by heart, be prepared to be frustrated at times to understand what words are being sung.

How cool is the theater's temperature?

Definitely take a light sweater or throw

How is this theater compared to others such as The Wang Center in Boston? Anyone out there been to both? Are the shows of the same quality?

I personally wouldn't compare the two theaters. One the cost in Boston versus the cost to Arizona is totally different. I am too, I think the quality are different, only because Gammage shows variety shows just like The Wang. I believe you should go…

How is the balcony for School of Rock? I see mixed reviews regarding acoustics and visibility depending on the show...

I just watched School of Rock on Sunday from the balcony. We are on the top balcony in the 5th row closer to the middle of the row. We had ZERO issues! They recently fixed their acoustics and we could hear everything fine. The set for this one…

I still enjoyed my time each time even though we were probably the youngest as someone got my husband and I tickets here for my birthday the past two years. The music was fantastic and we saw the variety show and the Grand Finale show and I enjoyed seeing multiple genres of music. The lead singers and musicians were phenomenal, and I absolutely loved the costume changes. The outfit changes really held my attention and was a great part of the show. The food, however, was just okay. I wouldn't come here for the food alone, but rather for the overall experience and to do something different. The meal included vegetables, potatoes, mashed potatoes, spinach cheese ravioli, chicken Parmesan, pulled pork dish, and a pineapple fish dish. This was the same food both times we went, so I'm not sure if they ever change it, I wish they did for a change. The pulled pork and cheese ravioli were good, but I wasn't a fan of the other dishes. The chicken Parmesan was probably the worst I've had as it wasn't at all what I expected from a traditional chicken parm. Dessert is a slice of chocolate cake that's already at your table when you arrive. I did think it was a nice touch that they pass out foil before the show ends so you can take it home and not waste it. The recommended tip listed on a sign at the table is $5 per person, so in addition to your ticket price, expect to pay at least that much extra. Drinks are also not included, so that's another added cost. Overall, this is a great experience, more so for 50+ and would make a fun gift, especially for a couple looking to do something different. I wish they had a family friendly show where it encouraged families with kids as I could see my kids who love music at 2 and 4 enjoying the show and dancing! I sat about in the middle of the theater and had a good view of everything. I really think most seats will be just fine!

My experience this past Thursday (5/7) was amazing. Thought it was completely packed I danced the night away! I witnessed him dealing with someone in line who was being weird about giving his ID. The guy was rude and started cussing him out in Spanish. Security stayed calm and handled himself in a professional manner. Asked him to step aside and the line continued. It made me feel safe that I didn't have to walk in after that guy. We actually came in to watch the game, so while we were willing to deal with the heat, the TVs not working was a pretty big issue. My husband ordered a Bloody Mary, which was pretty subpar, while my mimosa was actually really good. Our bartender was on point and kept checking on us, making sure we had water and asking if we wanted anything else. We were literally the only ones there at 11:00 on a Sunday morning on game day, which was kind of sad. After being there, though, I can understand why--people coming in to watch the game definitely need working TVs. Walking out the door, including the tip, we only spent $22. Overall, it was just kind of an "eh" experience. Hopefully the TVs get fixed and the patio gets some misters, because those two things would make a huge difference.

The theatrics, horses, jousting, costumes, and overall atmosphere made it such a fun experience. I even had a dark pink carnation thrown at me from the red knight which was a cute surprise. The food was okay but honestly you cant come here expecting a 5 star meal, you come for the entertainment and experience. We started with Texas toast and tomato soup followed by corn, half a potato, and chicken. Then we got cake and an eclair for dessert. We did get plastic forks for the cake but everything else you eat with your hands like a true medieval barbarian! Our server was phenomenal! You can also order and pay for other drinks/alcohol drinks before being seated and I got a strawberry slush with whip cream and it was delicious. Got a pretty souvenir cup too. They have many working the front of the house so check in goes quickly and then we walked into the large area where you can buy drinks and various souvenirs for children or adults. We had assigned seats so it was very nice not having to rush in to find a seat and there is room between the row below you and above you so much that the server can walk between us. No head obstructs your view which is great for us shorter people. We were served drinks first, then bread and soup, next up was 1/2 a chicken that was moist and flavorful. Next came the corn and potato wedge that were also nicely flavored. Lastly was dessert and because we upgraded we got a second dessert of cake. If you are a light eater, they will give you a to go box. There is a wipe for your hands before you dig in eating with your hands and then a hot towel is brought after dinner. I would definitely recommend and go back again.

I barely touuched them and the sandwhich had chicken on one side and no meet on the other side. After the movie, I requested to see the manager. The manager came and instead of apologizing he was combative. Stating to me that the southwest fries were not cold because he plated them . Saying to me " what do you want me to do?" Also stating that he is glad they have cameras, because he wants to get to the bottom of this. But never just apologizing.
