Wave fucking sucks. Every night at midnight internet drops service. Their customer service sucks because they see the reviews about their shitty brand and dont want to help and the worst part is they secretly charge you more and make false promises for prorating when you didn't have service provided from them for a whole week. I have been extremely disappointed by Wave. I have internet service with them and we went over our data usage. Our limit is 1000 and we used 1276. I am willing to pay for the one-time overage. The big shock? For an overage of 27.6% my bill went up 120%! How about a charge that is comprable to the usage? Yes, I did contact them and their solution was that they could waive the overage fee if I change my plan to increase my usage limit to the tune of $20 a month. I declined, as the overage occurred only one month. I did call wave twice and spoke to two different customer service members. Neither of them had any useful solution to this. Maybe I'll have to check in to Comcast, which would be unfortunate as I have been a wave customer for about a decade. read more

We have been using Wave Broadband since 2013 and have not had the problems listed in many of the reviews here. Our internet speed is great and we have never had any problems that weren't part of life in the real world. Yes, internet goes down, but it has been a very rare occurence for us and we live way out in the sticks. We experienced the same thing from time to time when we lived in the Portland area. The prices are a little high but my daughter who lives in the Portland Metro area pays about the same and I have noticed many more issues with internet delivery at her house. I was just on the phone with technical support this morning to activate a new modem. We decided to save some money using our own equipment after finding a great deal on a compatible modem and router. The technician answered within a minute, was very helpful and we were set up in no time. Living out in the country as we do I feel very fortunate to have Wave Broadband available. read more

After much research and review reading I reluctantly went with Wave Broadband. But with only Wave and Frontier to choose from, I really don't have a choice. I got my service hooked up on a Saturday where my period of time for the tech to show was 2pm-4pm. On a Saturday. In the middle of the day. This was my first issue. Just schedule a time. Not hard. So Saturday it was hooked up. Got me a nice 2.4hz / 5hz modem hooked up. I have several kids and a wife that all stream so the two channels is nice. Sunday morning my modem stopped working. I then had to wait until Monday for a tech. My wait times were 8am-8pm. No joke. I have two kids I had to have locked up at home all day while waiting. No bueno. The tech was awful. Completely inhospitable and uninformative. When I asked why the modem was different he said it was only a 2.4hz modem. I explained I'd preferred the one I'd had installed for the reason above and he basically blew me off. (A quality specialist calls to see how the visit went and when I explained the situation to her she informed me that a new tech person would call within two days to come back out. No one called.) Two days after the tech replaced my modem, my internet stops working. I call customer support and they say again a new tech needs to come out. Scheduled for a Friday. No show. (I've only had Wave for a week at this point.) So then I get a random call on Monday saying a tech is coming out. No need. Modem randomly started working again. Three days later, today (which is less than two weeks after my service was hooked up) Wave is having issues with their service in my area. So the 100mb I'm paying for is actually getting less than 1mb actually. See photo. I recommend staying away from Wave if you can. I have no choice. Like I said earlier, Frontier is my only other provider and if I want no customer support that's who I go to. I post good as well as bad reviews but the public needs to know when a company isn't providing the customer service it should. I recently moved to Portland and went with Wage G because all I needed was the internet for my computer and streaming TV. At the time the Tech came out to hook up the internet I only had my computer and about all the help he could give me to complete the process was. "I got a signal to the port, the rest is up to you". Well, luckily I am tech-savvy enough to get my computer internet working fine. A couple of weeks later my TV arrives and I go to set it up with their TiVo Streaming device and can't get an internet signal to the TV, I call wave G tech support, got disconnected once and the second time was basically told that it was the TV due to the fact I was able to connect to other devices. She wouldn't even try and help me and told me to contact the TV manufacture. So I got online with the TV manufacture which was more help than Wave G and long story short after trying a few things he suggested I try my cell phone hot spot, sure enough, that worked proving it was the internet and not the TV. After talking with a friend I was able to get the internet to work with my TV and I am very disappointed in the customer service from Wave G. Wage G is a good value, just be savvy enough to work through any problems! read more

The WaveG representative that responded to my initial post was able to offer a compromise.... 8 more months of the $60 rate (instead of full 24 months available at sign-up). This reinforces the importance of ensuring that the discount code is applied at sign-up time because it seems it cannot be applied afterward (which in my opinion is a bad policy to have, not in the customers bests interests, and thus not in the actual best interests of the company either; unfortunate). Anyway, because they did offer a compromise I've increased my rating to 3 stars (from 2 stars). Great actual service, but bad (regressive/punitive) policies. read more

I've used Wave G for years, loved the quick speed of the internet, and had never had an issue with this service or company - I actually recommended them to everyone I knew looking for a new internet provider. Now I wish I hadn't. This year, I moved from one apartment building to another. I called Wave twice to ensure that my service would be switched from one apartment to the other and a Wave technician showed up at the new apartment on move in day to connect my service. 6 weeks after moving I received a paper bill for twice the amount of my monthly payment. Thought this was strange, as I was signed up for paperless billing, my monthly bill was still being direct deposited out of my account each month (on time and in full), and my online Wave account showed that I was paid in full with a $0 balance. Got another letter repeating the same a couple of weeks later, so I called the company. Apparently, they had just left my service on at the old apartment and were direct depositing my account to pay for that, while they had started an entirely new account (with paper billing and no direct deposit) at my new apartment. They had also charged me for not returning a router, even though I had told them I would be taking my router from the old apartment to the new apartment and the Wave technician had hooked up the service at my new apartment using this router. Face palm emoji needed on Yelp. I was told by this technician that the original person I talked to to transfer the account made a mistake and that they would be able to move the paid charges from the old account that should have been cancelled/transferred to the new apartment that was supposed to be our only account, and was told that they would be willing to give us a month of free service for our time (after I asked for this since the phone call took an hour to an hour and a half), but that it would take 72 hours to process because it had to go to their accounting department. Two weeks later, I receive another paper bill - now stating that we owe 3 months of service, plus the router, no free month. The due date is now the 15th instead of the 30th (so we've lost two weeks of service within the bill, even though it's the same), and my account has recently been debited another month's charge, although that's nowhere to be found with the Wave account. My online account has been updated to reflect these outstanding (and erroneous) charges, however. I call back and spend another 2 hours on the phone with a supervisor who tells me she has to go through the entire account and is notating that both the person that transferred the account and the first tech that I spoke with did things incorrectly, and that she will do the things the first tech said she would do and it will be reflected on my account within 72 hours. Again, no changes occurred. I called a third time and spent 20 minutes convincing the tech to send me to a supervisor, and then another 20 minutes waiting on hold for a supervisor to be available. Eventually, the tech told me that it didn't seem like a supervisor would be available anytime soon but that he would be willing to write out a long letter detailing the issues with my account and his supervisor would call me back to fix the account. Never received a call. At this point, I'm done. I've spent over 4 hours on the phone with this company to fix their mistake....and they are still trying to charge me around $400 in fees for this. Face palm, face palm, face palm. My boyfriend takes over, calls the company. Spends an hour on the phone with a tech. The company had refunded $94 to our account (unsure of why, since the monthly bill is $98 and this doesn't correct the charges..). The tech keeps trying to tell him that our account is on track because the router charge of $120 has been refunded and we received a $94 refund directly to our account - but has no answer as to where the $120 refund for the router is (it's not on our bank account) or how to account for the rest of the charges. Why is it so hard to notate that we have the same router we've had for several years and to simply move the charges from the old account to the new account to reflect that we are paid in full......Finally, she says that she has to run everything through accounting and it will take 72 hours for our account to reflect the true balance. Boyfriend asks to speak with accounting directly and is told they don't speak to customers, but she will give us a call back and let us know when these changes are updated to show that we are paid up. It's been a week and instead of a call, we received another paper bill with ~$400 in charges and a pending shut off notice. Will definitely be reporting to the BBB. read more

After all this time, why doesn't a no-star option exist? Install was a pain. Internet is slow, spotty and overpriced. Service constantly cutting out unexpectedly; PAINFULLY SLOW. Bills never arrive yet service gets shut off. Almost $100/month and I only have 30gb/month in bandwidth and after that, the bill starts going so high, so quickly that you'd think you'd called a phone sex line and forgot to hang up the phone. I was supposed to be paying $1 a month with my ACP credit. So, I didn't open the bills. After three months (generous) my internet was shut off for nonpayment because I owed $60. For whatever reason, the ACP credit was never applied even tho I qualified. On top of the surprise $57 extra dollars I'm expected to pay a $40 restoral fee. The man I spoke to on the phone told me it was my fault and there was nothing they could do. UBELIEVABLE. Xfinity made the process simple and sure that my ACP was applied before they even came for the install. I've never had such a bad experience with a company. I was going to call back and hope I got someone else who would reverse the charges, fix the mess, and not charge me a 40 dollar restoral fee LOL. LIKE SERIOUSLY?! My total cost was supposed to be $4 but now you expect me to pay $100?! I will obviously not be paying that and reporting this to the FCC and consumer protection bureau and whatever else. They could have just reversed the charges especially since I have proof I qualified for the past three months, and kept a customer forever. But instead the chose to lose money instead of make it. Good luck, Astound or Wave or whatever the hell your name is. Everyone else offers cellular and tv bundles and doesn't make you hold forever on the phone just to call you stupid and tell you you're SOL. No, they know how to make money and keep people happy. NOT RECOMMENDED! I thought this would be a way to get around Comcast but it is not! I was originally told it would be a flat fee of $70 a month but they slowly increased it over time with no warning and little, and confusing, explanations about why it increased when I wrote to ask them. The internet cuts out ALL the time! I work from home occasionally and it drops multiple times a day, sometimes multiple times an hour. I never once had that issue with Comcast. The idea of no contract and not dealing with Comcast is appealing but DO NOT GET WAVE. They are worse than dealing with Comcast and there service is much worse, and you don't even really save any money. read more

You wrote a review for Wave Broadband 12 hours ago 12/6/2021 The reason i gave them one star, is because of their business practices when it comes to just raising rates with no notification or discussion, Now back in march they raised my rates for a third time and that was it,,, by then i was paying well over 230 dollars for basic cable, two phones and internet. when i asked why the increases the reply was ANOTHER promotion had expired, I almost dropped them right there, but instead i dropped the phones and the cable, which brought my internet back down to 75 dollars. When i did this i made it a point to ask,, Is there any more promotional junk with this that will expire and you'll be jacking rates again. His reply was no, its a flat charge for this amount of usage. We set it up for just the internet and before i hung up i asked again OK, Are we sure no more promotional snags here that gonna come back to bite me , His irritated reply was no, there is no promotional add on's, Well today i went to pay my wave bill and low and behold, went from 75 bucks to 116 dollars. Yes i called and yes another promotion had expired that's why the increase. (wasn't supposed to be any promotional gigs).   Now i am paying a bit over half of what i payed before, with only internet service which is still limited to amount used.. I don't appreciate getting lied to #1 and #2 how can any business jack things up with out a word especially a monthly paying customer. Worst internet service I have experienced. Don't plan on streaming movies or playing games online. I am constantly lagging movies never stream all the way threw and did I also say I have their 55 Mbps speed and I still can't do anything. One minute it works next minute nothing loads I spend most my time at home using my Verizon data (ridiculously expensive). Tech came out and changed my routers still the same problems! I have spoken to so many friends that have wave and they have the same problem! Don't get wave Internet if you have a choice! read more

BEWARE! This is the worst internet company I have ever had. They sell you on quick, reliable fiber optic speed. What they don't tell you is their service rarely works. If you are with a cell carrier with limited data. this is not the service for you. I have had to increase my data plan with Verizon as well as pay overage fees. When calling wave - the average wait time is 48-58 minutes then additional wait time when needing to speak with a manager. Employee's seem to be untrained. Unable to answer the simplest questions. They are rude. Slur... curse. I have never dealt with such an unprofessional company. On two occasions technicians did not show up as scheduled. I would not advise anyone to choose this nightmare of a company. How they are still in business is beyond me. You would think a one & a half star rating would matter to this company. Apparently, NOT! Also, good luck on finding a working phone number. Most numbers listed online are not the right phone number and website is often down. Worst of the worst. read more

I signed up for Wave Broadband about 2 months ago and within those two months I have lost Internet service 5 times, that I noticed. I was thinking of expanding to a VOIP service as well, but I first need a reliable ISP (Internet Service Provider). Wave Broadband is not a reliable ISP. Horrible internet service!!! I would rate Wave Broadband 0 stars if I could! I've had their service for 6 months now and the internet hasn't worked for 4 of those months at least! And my last bill was doubled because I apparently went over on data. Not sure how you go over on data when you don't even use their internet because it never works. I've had technicians and maintenance over at my house practically every day trying to fix the issues. They always leave and say it should be fixed. *Beware* Before it changed to Astound recently, we were paying about $61/month for internet. After the switch, the quality of our internet has been decreasing. Multiple interruptions and slower service. To our shock, our December bill was about $340 which included about $260 in overuse charges. We rarely exceed our 300GB limit and we average below that. Our records showed we used over 1,260GB of data in October, which is just not true or possible for us (it's just 2 of us). Another odd thing is that they charged our October overuse on our December bill, not November. We called to dispute this but got hung up on 2 times in a row. The 3rd time, the worker on the phone attempted to resolve the issue by insisting we upgrade to the more expensive unlimited plan, but eventually was able to decrease our bill by only $100 and said she would discuss the matter with one of the higher ups and they would give us a call later. It's been more than 1 week and we haven't received a call. We are very disappointed in this company and we will be switching to a more professional and trustworthy provider. read more

Love Wave! I had them for 13 years in Oregon City and rarely an issue. If I had no internet, even at 2 in the morning, I called the 800 number and they already knew about it. Always up and running in just a couple of hours. Last year I moved to Salem and had to get Comcast. All I can say is I miss Wave! read more

Turning off my service for nonpayment, only I have the statement in my hand from the bank saying I did. They want me to just pay it again, basically called me a liar and blew me off. We are limited in this area, the only reason we put up with constantly losing service for hours or days at least once a month, sometimes several times a day. I can't believe I'm saying I miss Comcast. After moving to this area the only choices are Wave and Century Link or Dish. I signed up for Wave as they were the closest to Comcast. Well, I am paying $185 a month and that is with no special channels like HBO etc. Just to get REGULAR tv. The internet is fine but the cabel tv is horrible. Every time I turn on a tv it won't work so I have to call them and they do a reset. I had them come out to try and fix another problem and they said it was an HD cable wire I needed which they don't supply. $65 charge for that. I would get an antenna but there are too many trees here. Once my year is up with these people I will switch my TV to internet tv - Netflix and Hulu should get me most of my channels. But right now this is very frustrating and expensive to watch REGULAR tv. read more

Our initial set-up went fine, and after the promotional offer had expired, we were able to negotiate a fairly "reasonable" rate, although it was still high since this was for a new home that we had built and were selling, so we really didn't need anything but a simple wireless connection in order to operate the Nest thermostat remotely and determine when people were coming and going through the garage door. Now that we have disconnected the service, we have had a struggle getting them to send us a shipping label to return the modem, since dropping it off at a store is not at all convenient. The rep I spoke with was rather rude. After several attempts, they're now telling us that we don't have an option to have a label shipped to us. We have been Wave customers since they bought the previous internet company who had before them bought that company but if there was any other choice here we would switch in a heartbeat. Especially after today. In the last year we have had at least 7 different tech's come to trouble-shoot why the internet continually drops. This is not specific to our home, the entire neighborhood has the same experience. Monday morning when we woke to no internet and classes starting in an hour I was back on the phone with Wave yet again! The phone rep was able to tell me we have been having signal drop over the last month and a tech would have to be sent to see what is going on between the street and the house. Which makes sense to me because nothing has changed in the house. The only appointment they had for me was an all day appointment but it was for the next day, which except for a zoom class and a possible trip to the post office was open for us so hey lets do it. I cleaned up the area the tech would need and I waited. And waited. They are supposed to call and let you know when they are on the way so I decided to pop over to the post office which is just 10 min from here thinking at any point if they call I can zip on home. Wouldn't you know it as I get to the Post Office the phone rings it's the automated thing saying the tech is on the way. So I hustled back home. My adult kids were home and texted me just 4 min later to say the tech was there. In the 10 min it took me to get back the tech claimed to have fixed the problem, though by his own admission and my kids witness he didn't touch anything except the router in the house. Sure it's working now (it was working when he arrived), the problem is it does not work consistently. And why? We don't know why! We need a trained expert to come look into it! Which is what a tech IS FOR. For crying out loud when I pay the bill for this service I actually expect it to work. When I make a day available to a company I expect them to give a reasonable heads up of not less than a half an hour and when they get here I expect them to do something I cannot. Two thumbs down for giving less than 30 min notice and not addressing the issue after arriving. Another tech call is in my future for sure:( read more

The worst business ever- we don't even have this service but one of their employees came into our yard which is well over the 6 ft easement by law and they destroyed a small tree and several other plants that was located near the small tower in the front yard- there was plenty of room for anyone to open the tower if they needed to for any reason but none of our neighbors have wave service so there was no reason at all- Whoever the little agro boy was that came out to my house and decided to destroy our plants has a serious anger issue and needs to understandthat it means to be kind - he has a severe lack of respect as well- the district manager called after I had called several times the wave 1-800 number over several months- I even had a case number and after several messages from some supervisor kept giving me excuses saying that he was so busy and backed up because at this point we wanted the tower taken out of our yard - we are so frustrated and we have also left bad reviews at the better business bureau- worst company ever .....next stop is our attorney ! read more

So I go ahead and call, speak to someone stating hi yes our service has been shut off we've made all our payments- what's the issue? She then tells me it doesn't say it's shut off on her end... Worst internet company I have ever dealt with. Unfortunately, they are the only option here. Prices keep going up, internet speeds are paltry at best, it takes forever to talk to anyone on the phone. I seriously get faster internet on "hotspot" on my phone. It's quicker to drive to Woodburn if you have questions, and even then they may not be there. They decide to just not be open on some days. Better not accidentally miss a payment! They will cut you at a random time. No warning, no phone call, no text. Middle of a meeting, and cut. Plus a nice little $35 reconnection fee. I Live in Aurora oregon not much providers out here left Century Link to Wave a few years ago when HD Upgrade was happening they started changing prices and taking away channels. They told me they did a audit and I was not supposed to have some of the channels than as more HD channels came out I kept loosing more channels. Care to start your day (or two, or three) with unrelenting frustration? Try calling Wave customer support with an issue that cannot be solved by 'resetting your modem'. For two days now I've been unable to work because they altered my IP address to a remote location in another state. I support government systems in multiple states, and my IP address is white-listed on their servers to allow access. Two hours on the phone yesterday, another hour (so far) today, and I'm told it could take another 24 hours to get a response. Can you call to follow up on a ticket? Certainly, but the automated system requires that you spend 1/2 hour getting your modem reset before they'll put you through to a representative that is unable to help. If there were ANY other show in town, I'd have been there years ago. They know you have few options, and don't seem to care if you're inconvenienced by their horrible customer service. read more

Oh dear, what can I say. We had wave TV for 6 years and finally ditched it in favor of Directv because of reliability issues. I am now plagued with Internet problems where the service is out for 8 hours of any given 24 hour period. A new Cable Modem and several hours of work from the Technicians helped but slightly. 2 appointments with the technicians were not honored and I am very disappointed. eighteen months ago we were equipped with an unconnected Fiber-optics connection-box by Molalla Communications, everybody received a connection box against the time that they should decide to change over; As far as I am concerned THE TIME IS NOW RIPE to enjoy a Molalla Communications Fiber Optics connection! read more
