Astar Driving School - I was very impressed with Astar. Right from the start while booking an appointment for my daughter, the office staff was kind and informative. I was advised of the price and they had appointments available quickly and with a range of times and dates. Then on the day of my daughters first lesson, the instructor Dan text messaged me the morning of giving me a time he would be there to pick up my daughter for her lesson. Dan was easy to communicate with and not only was he on time, but he was slightly early, which I highly appreciate. My daughter was nervous and Dan was not only professional but he made a few jokes and she seemed to feel more comfortable. They went out for the 2 hour lesson and again, Dan dropped her back off right on time. I very much appreciate the attention he paid to time. He explained a few things she needs to work on and how the process would work for booking future appointments. I recommend Astar driving school, will use them again for my daughters next 2 lessons and then again when my son is old enough for his lessons. Thank you Dan! read more

We had a great experience with Astar Driving School! My son's instructors, Maria and Dan, were both extremely friendly, patient, and professional. They made him feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel while helping prepare him for his driving test. Their instruction and encouragement really paid off--he passed his driving test! We truly appreciate the time and effort Maria and Dan put into helping him become a safer and more confident driver. I highly recommend Astar Driving School, especially Maria and Dan. Thank you both for such a positive experience! read more

Passed my driver test today due to dans help, he's truly a good instructor and corrected my actions with jokes to make it less harsh!

I had an appointment for my daughter. I called to cancel first thing in the morning when she woke up with a fever, and I was told I have to pay $50 for it because she can't put their drivers at risk. It's really upsetting that I have to pay when it was out of my control and I called as soon as they opened the day of her appointment. read more

They sent me a notification 20 hours prior to an appointment that I never knew about and told me that if I cancel I need to come bring them 50$ or they will add it to my next session. I feel if they knew my number to let me know this they, could have initially confirmed the appointment with me or at least sent the confirmation more then 24 hours before so that I would have had the time to cancel. Very unprofessional!! The people were very rude. read more

Absolutely the best customer service! I contacted multiple different driving schools before deciding on Astar, and I'm so happy I chose them. The instructor was great with my daughter, and kept lines of communication open between myself and him. Dan is the best! They are friendly, kind and understanding. I would 100% recommend. read more

Critical: I don't even know where to start. I called to enroll my son, checking prices asking questions just like any other parent does. The person answering the phone seemed otherwise engaged and just not interested. Really didn't even seem to hear me. I was quoted a price & told the price would be going up due to gas prices at the first of Nov. Great! No big deal. I checked w my schedule and my sons grandmother who was paying for it as a Christmas gift & decided to move forward immediately. Thought I was actively fast. Only to be told they were booked up the rest of the month of October so we only had November available. I was confused, but not really even sure why we were informed of the price change if the lower price was not available. The difference was only $10, but I just didn't feel the middleman, the woman in the office, was communicating how I felt as a customer, a potential first time customer, correctly. I didn't feel as if she was engaging or even hearing what I was trying to explain to her so I cut the conversation short and requested a call back from the owner. The girl said OK, we hung up and approximately 10 minutes later I got a call back from her and she stated that her boss did not want to deal with me I'm not she would not be calling me back. Then, I get a text message from her boss and apparently the owner of this school. See text attached. Whoa! Being a small business owner myself I I am completely flabbergasted and shocked at how this owner handled this entire situation or lack there of handling. Small businesses are struggling these days and it's unfortunate however I feel the need to warn everyone that if this business handles theirNewcomers like this right from a phone call, imagine them handling your child trying to learn how to drive. No thank you. Beware. read more

My friend moved into town from China and needed to get a CA DL. Called Jodi to schedule a 2 hour lesson so my friend could get familiarized with American driving. Jodi was very nice over the phone, told me what options my friend has. Then on the day of lessons, Ana actually was the one taught her. My friend said Ana was very nice and professional. Very patient and gave her lots of useful information. Then on the testing day, Jodi went with my friend and she PASSED! 99 points! DMV was backed up and Jodi patiently waited with my friend, during the wait time, Jodi gave her some very useful information about the town and things to do..etc. Overall a great experience with two great ladies! I would recommend them 1000% Thank you ladies for helping my friend getting her DL. Keep up the good work! read more

Highly recommend Astar! They set up my Daughter drivers training on back to back days and I was able to set her drivers test that following Friday! On her first day Jim was the driving instructor and he was very friendly but at the same time he was patient with my daughter. She felt comfortable even though she was nervous before he got there. Jim was with her for two of the three day. On the third day Ed was the instructor and he also was friendly. He gave great advice and tips to tune her up for the test for the following day. Both instructors were excellent in preparing her to drive. My daughter passed with flying colors the very next day! Thank you to all the Astar staff! read more

Can I give a NEGATIVE star? It is so unprofessional to show up to an appointment that you are being paid to render a service with a dog!! A barking chihuahua at that. Did you ask if anyone was allergic or afraid of dogs? NO! So I immediately cancel never to call again or remotely recommend. How unprofessional and inconsiderate can a person be. You are teaching teens (some who have never been behind a wheel) to drive. Why would you have a complete distraction like a non stop barking chihuahua? DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!! read more

LOCALS BEWARE! I made 2 appointments for my son with A-Star Driving School a few weeks ago, with the agreement of $125 per class. He had his first lesson last week, which I paid over the phone. His next lesson is/was tomorrow. I just got a call from the owner stating that his lesson has went up and is now $130. I kindly reminded her that we had already confirmed a price, and in good business she should honor the price agreed upon. Her reply? She asked if we wanted to go to another driving school. WOW. She then went on about what is stated on her website, gas and some other lame excuses for her tacky and unprofessional business. And then she made the mistake of dismissing me. We got into a heated discussion and I diplomatically gave her a teachable moment. She hung up on me. I called and left a message that she was in breach of contract and that I would make her poor business behaviors known everywhere possible. So, I'm starting here. While typing this out, she has been texting my phone, trying to place blame on myself instead of how she conducted business. While it's only $5, the fact that she was being dishonest and rude beyond belief, I don't do business that way. I have a little biz myself, and if I give someone a price, THAT is the price they pay. I won't call them the day before and raise the amount because my jewelry supplier raised the price of adhesives (my highest priced supply) in between our agreement and the day you get your item. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED. read more

My son really enjoyed this school for the lessons he received! The best part is when he would drive with me and he would tell me all the laws and things he learned. Its not the greatest when I'm driving and he's correcting my driving. lol I feel very confident, as a mother, that when my son gets his license and is out on his own driving he will be safe with all the tools he's learning, shoot I'm learning them to from him. My heart is full with his excitement. I definitely recommend that you try this school. I couldn't be happier. Thank you Astar for all the support and confidence you gave me and my son! we will see you for the next round when my daughter is old enough to drive. read more

I sent my son to driver's ed class because I thought he would get more than an online class and it was the only one around. Unfortunately he hated it but maybe it was just sitting in a class on his summer break. His main complaint was that the class smells like bird poop so that's too bad. However, he does feel confident that he will pass his permit test and the people seem pretty nice read more

Absolutely terrible service. Poor communication and organisation. I have never written a review in my life, but the 'service' and hassle I have received today, over my driving lessons which were booked and confirmed weeks ago has been absolutely appalling. read more

We had a great experience with Astar Driving School. Setting up appointments was easy. The person in the office answered all of my questions and returned calls promptly. We as parents' dreed the moment when you're kid comes up to you and says "I wanna start driving, can I take Driver's Ed/Training"? A part of you want's to say "Ahhhhh HELLLLZZZZ NO!!!" but then the other part of you thinks..."hmmmmm....run my errands and he/she can drive to school". Ok maybe this might not be too bad. Before I begin telling you about this AWESOME driving school. Let me give you some important information... Your child can begin driver's Ed (reading part) at age 15-1/2. Once the course is complete he/she can go to DMV and take a written test to get a permit. This will allow the child to train behind the wheel with an adult. Your child will then need to sign up for Driver's Training. This is basically a company that will teach your child how to drive behind the wheel. This is needed if he/she is not 18 years old, otherwise they do not need to take Driver's Training and can go straight to DMV to take their behind the wheel test for their driver's license. Since my lil man refused to wait until he was 18, I knew I had to find a Driver's Training school and I found Astar. I'm so happy I did. The course was 6 months long (a standard for all schools). The 6 months course, is basically 3 (2 hours behind the wheel) course. It's 6 months, because you can't take the 2nd course until 2 months after the first one. The cost at the time was $300 (subject to change). I know you're probably saying...."dang that is a lot"!! Let's just say it was all worth it, because my lil man, PASSED!! Yup!! Holla at me!! *high five* He pass!!! Only did 2 errors. His teacher was Jody and I highly recommend her (I think she is the owner) my son specifically requested her. The cool thing about this company is they picked up my son at school and dropped him off at a designated place which I requested. This saved me time, since I was working. If you have a child who needs Driver's Ed/Training...look no further!! This is the place for you. Very punctual, a friendly staff, and the last course is set up a couple of days before the DMV test, regardless of how busy they are. They will find time to make it work. FYI...once your kid has a driver's license, he/she cannot have a minor passenger in the car for 1 year. If he/she has good grades bring it to your insurance company, some company's offer a discount on your policy read more

This is a great driving school I highly recommend it. The staff is really friendly and I passed my driving test with 0 errors

I had scheduled my driving test at Vacaville but wasn't from that city. So I had called the driving schools around here, and Erika called me back and gave me tips about speed limits, practice routes and what to expect on the test date - all this even after knowing that I won't be taking any lessons with them. Her tips helped me pass the test. read more
