This is going to be long so bear with me…read more We are under contract to buy a home in which there was a recall on the originally installed shingles. The seller was having the roof REPLACED per the warranty from the shingle manufacturer. The seller contracted 1st Colorado Roofing to do the work. After our initial property inspection was done on the home, it was found that there was a missing vent cap that needed to be replaced. I asked for proof that it was done and was given Eric's number (at 1st Colorado Roofing) to contact and ask for pics. Not only was he completely rude, he flat out told me he wasn't making a special trip for me because he was too busy. Okay fine. So I ask our AMAZING inspector to go back out and take pics with his drone to make sure the vent was done. He made time out of his busy day to stop by for 10 mins to snap some quick pics and he sent them over to me. I see that the vent cap that was missing was put on, but after I looked closer, I realized that the roof in fact WASNT completely replaced like the invoice says, they roofed AROUND the solar panels. Meaning that the faulty, old shingles were still on the roof. The permit pulled with Jefferson County said it was supposed to be a roof replacement. The black shingles are the NEW ones, the light multicolored shingles are the old ones. What's even worse is if I wasn't adamant about SEEING that the vent cap was done, we would have never known about this shoddy job. Mind you, this home is in an HOA, which I ended up calling and they said the roof needs to be consistent so this wouldn't pass community standards. In the last 24 hours, we have contacted FIVE independent roofing companies who have absolutely NO monetary interest in this house. 5/5 of them said the roof should be completely redone at this point because the integrity of the underlayment has been compromised. 1st Colorado Roofing is now saying that they will just go back and finish the rest of the roof.... First of all, the roof should have NEVER even been done like this. Now you want to basically just patch everything together? Second of all, the invoice says that they put all new vents on the house. They in fact did not. They used the old vents and spray painted them, getting spray paint on the shingles. Third of all, weren't they paid to do a full roof replacement?? We are supposed to close, be out of our existing home with 3 kids and into this new house in NINE days. Someone needs to make this right and that someone should be the roofing company who shouldn't have done a "re-roof" like this. Please spread the word!

I'm very disappointed with the workmanship from this roofing company. The issues had nothing to do…read morewith the shingles themselves -- the problem was the installation. The crew nailed the shingles far too low, which compromises the integrity of the roof and can significantly shorten its lifespan. Proper nail placement is basic roofing knowledge, so this was extremely concerning. In addition, they reused materials that should have been replaced, which raises further questions about their standards and attention to detail. We had AVI come out 3 separate times and all 3 times they kept stating the issues was NOT theirs but would not give us a straight answer on the real issues until we had to hire another roofing company to repair their work. To add insult to injury , AVI charged us each time they came out ($500). Quality installation is just as important as quality materials, and unfortunately, that standard was not met. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering this company carefully inspect the work and ask detailed questions before signing off on a project. *** 3/3/26 response to AVI about my review*** We purchased our home in December, and the roof was installed in October -- just two months before we took ownership. Within three months of living in the home, the shingles began lifting and coming off. That is not normal wear and tear, and it certainly raises concerns about workmanship. Regarding not being able to find our name -- that may be because we purchased the property after the roof was installed. The work would likely be listed under the previous homeowner's name, not ours. I would encourage you to review your October installations at that address rather than searching only by our name. Both my husband and myself have spoken to your company several times and had 4 different people on separate occasions come to our home. Not once did you mention the error with nailing the roof even though pictures show this poor workmanship. It is also concerning to hear you state that you do not warranty your work after only 2 months! A roof should last years, not months. Regardless of ownership changes, a recently installed roof failing within such a short timeframe speaks for itself. We are simply sharing our experience so others are aware. We had to hire another company to correct the issues and ensure the roof was properly installed.

The roofing product and overall installation was good, but there were two warranty issues and a repair I wanted to get done. They refused to cover the warranty issues which were gutter related (which they also installed). It took them a week to get them to send me the estimate. I finally had to call them and ask a second time for the estimate. The guy said it went to my junk mail, so he emailed it again. That was BS. I checked my junk mail folder and it never went to my junk mail. I don't have the estimate from them any longer as they conveniently become unavailable online after a period of time. I do recall that they wanted approximately $800 for one of the simple gutter repairs. I found a different roof installer that came out within a day and made both gutter repairs for $200. And he did indicate the one gutter needed to be rehung as it was not fully secure. He also had less than flattering comments on the installation. The gutter guy I found also rehung a downspout (included in the $200). In addition to the lack of warranty coverage for items that should have been covered, and the ridiculously high estimate prices for work, I asked them for a consultation for solar panels. And guess what? I got crickets from them. No phone call, no email and no text regarding the solar panels. My impression of Roper Roofing is they are VERY expensive relative to the competition, they don't stand behind their work with warranty coverage when necessary, and their overall customer service was horrible in my interactions with them. I would NEVER recommend Roper Roofing to an enemy much less a friend.
