Our son has been attending Kindergarten since fall 2021. From the interview last Spring we as a family have adored the Vice Principal and Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Scherer. She has been amazing! My husband and I are very pleased with our son's growth socially, emotionally, and academically. The Principal, Mrs. Rocheford shows outstanding leadership through being available weekly for virtual coffee and chatting. She is also very responsive to community concerns, and makes herself available as needed. Everyone is very approachable and welcoming. We toured 4 private schools before deciding on Assumption. What stood out for us was the openness and the genuine happiness and excitement we felt from the people we talked to - teachers, parents and students. The facilities also seemed to be well kept. Our daughter started the TK program last Fall and we could not be happier. Ms. Sabrina and Ms. Contreras are amazing and have made my daughter's transition to Assumption a great experience. She looks forward to going to school everyday and enjoys the after school program. Our son is currently in 1st grade. It has been an excellent experience. Both Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers have exceeded our expectations and interactions with older grade staff have been great. The staff and parent community is welcoming, kind and generous. I greatly appreciate that the school has a social emotional and leadership programs intertwined in the grades and classes to help build character strength in addition to academics. The principal and vice principal are energetic, professional and communicate well the mission of the school and daily on-goings. We intend to stay for the full K-8th. Since they've returned to in person learning they have done so well academically. CYO sports have also returned, and they had a great volleyball season. Wonderful teacher for kindergarten, beyond our wildest dreams for our daughter's first year. Super engaged parents, we wish we could do more because everyone here has so much participation. We are staying in the Bay Area because this school has been so amazing for our daughter. They have kept her safe during Covid, and we have an immune compromised preschool aged daughter at home. We needed someplace we could count on. I am so grateful for the year we have had with them. They are amazing people. Assumption is a wonderful school. Both my daughter and son are enrolled. My son's in kindergarten and my daughter is in TK. I appreciate the diversity of the school. I'm thrilled my kids are also gaining a solid foundation in learning about the Catholic religion. Their teachers genuinely love and care about my kids. The classes are relatively small to ensure my kids get the attention they need. The school has a great community. Our daughter as well as ourselves have made lifelong friends. The intimacy of the school allows for issues of bullying to be addressed ASAP by parents and teachers. It is a catholic school but is very accepting to students of all religious backgrounds. The school is tucked away, almost hidden, which makes for a much safer neighborhood. There are never any transients walking or hanging around like other schools near busy streets. A new principal, who previously was the much loved 8th grade teacher, has been appointed. My two kids attend kindergarten and transitional kindergarten at this school. I have been quite pleased with the education that they are receiving. My oldest began transitional kindergarten the start of the pandemic. He did distance learning at first, but later made a smooth transition to in-person learning. I credit the staff with making the transition as easy as possible. My youngest is blossoming as well. She has made a smooth transition from daycare to school. There are lots opportunities for children to grow. For example, there was recently a school wide oratorical fest. All students learned a poem to recite. At age 6 and age 5 my two were reciting poems! We have been an Assumption School family since 2004. What we love about the school is the focus on community, inclusiveness, and kindness. Our oldest is now a sophomore in Loyola Marymount University and is doing great. And she still has close friends from her time at Assumption. We are close with many families from the school and work hard to make the school as good as possible. I have a third grader who absolutely loves this school, and we have been thrilled to find this gem in San Leandro. We are lucky to have 2 administrators per class (a Teacher and TA) and the staff is absolutely committed to making sure each child thrives. Not only is our son excelling in reading and in math, he is expressing a social conscience that goes beyond his years. As a family, we chose Assumption for their ECLC program. We had toured other schools, but never felt the immediate warmth and welcome as we did when we walked through the gates. Spending two years at the ECLC we became more involved and soon realized that we wanted to fully envelop ourselves into the parish and join fully by converting to the Catholic faith. Taking turns, myself (Adair) completed the RCIA program at Assumption and was welcomed into the faith in July and Nick is now going through the process as well. We fell in love with Assumption. The fellowship that we feel, even through Covid, is unmatched. We know that not only do the teachers and faculty look out for our kids and love watching them grow, but we share that same feeling with the fellow parents. We watch our kids play, encourage each other, are shoulders to lean and cry on in the parking lot, without judgement or expectation. I love Assumption School. My brother and I were lucky enough to attend Assumption in the '80s & '90s. It was a wonderful foundation for us then and is just as wonderful for my two children now. One of the major reasons I love the school is because of the community of students, parents, teachers and parishoners which has always been supportive. We have chosen to commute in from Pleasanton everyday in order for our children to grow up in this nurturing school environment. I am so glad that the TK opened this year and that my son, has the opportunity to have Ms. Sabrina, as a teacher. The amount of growth I have seen in him over the past three months is incredible. The kids come bounding out at the end of the day filled with joy and true love for their teacher. They are so proud to share their adventures of what happened that day. My son in 3rd grade has had incredibly attentive teachers who care about the whole child's development. This year that instead of a parent teacher conference, 3rd - 8th graders are invited into the meeting in early October for a goal setting discussion. This really instills in the child a sense of ownership in their learning. It also helps show the child how the parents and teachers are working together to help them grow and be their best. The school's tight knit community is due to a couple of factors. Since the school is a single class per grade, it is easy for all of the faculty and staff to get to know your child and family. With the school being TK - 8th grade, the older students are partnered with younger ones in school "families" during school activities. This creates quite the bond between the children and the opportunity for the older children to be seen as role models learning the importance of their actions around school. My husband and I have had the opportunity to develop great friendships while working on school events and boards. I can 100% say, Assumption is a great school to attend as a student and parent. Assumption's TK/K program has far exceeded my expectations (which were already high, as I have a 4th grader at the school). I have twin boys in Ms. Sabrina's TK class with very different personalities. She genuinely loves each child in her class so I can leave them at school knowing they are in a nurturing, safe environment. She has a website for parents and posts pictures of the kids several times a week, engrossed in their activities, so I get to see first hand how they spend their day. Her approach to learning is entirely age appropriate, she involves them in lots of varied activities and play, keeping them engaged and interested, which is no easy task with active boys. They can't wait to tell me what they learned at the end of each day. TK/K has it's own playground and a grass lawn for the kids to play on. They also love the interaction they get with the older kids at the school. There is a true community at Assumption, among the kids and families alike.
