Our son has been attending Kindergarten since fall 2021. From the interview last Spring we as a family have adored the Vice Principal and Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Scherer. She has been amazing! My husband and I are very pleased with our son's growth socially, emotionally, and academically. The Principal, Mrs. Rocheford shows outstanding leadership through being available weekly for virtual coffee and chatting. She is also very responsive to community concerns, and makes herself available as needed. Everyone is very approachable and welcoming. The sense of community we feel at Assumption is unmatched and as a family we are thrilled to be a part of the parish and school. read more

We are a new family- first year at this school. So far so good. I found the school to be very organized with communication and school processes. It is nestled within a quiet neighborhood. The church is next to it with a well maintained yard and grounds. Principal, teachers, and office staff have been very attentive with answering our questions. Our son really likes his new school and adapting well. read more

We have had a wonderful experience with Assumption school. We have 1 child in Kindergarten and another starting in TK in the fall and couldn't be happier. The administration and teachers we've had so far are wonderful. A truly caring community and my son is thriving. I am constantly impressed by what he learns each day. We also love that they have speciality classes - Spanish, Music, Library time, etc. Wonderful network of parents as well! The school is located in a residential neighborhood so it is very safe also which was a top priority of ours. We couldn't be more pleased with our experience so far! read more

Everyday. Every. Single. Day. I am so thankful for our Assumption Community and the quality experience that not only the children but the families benefit from. The staff is spectacular. The programs and curriculum are setting the students up for long term success. The parent engagement around the community is amazing and adds to the the wonderful experience that your family gets from being a part of the community. I am proud of the staff and families that make Assumption what it is. read more

We toured 4 private schools before deciding on Assumption. What stood out for us was the openness and the genuine happiness and excitement we felt from the people we talked to - teachers, parents and students. The facilities also seemed to be well kept. Our daughter started the TK program last Fall and we could not be happier. Ms. Sabrina and Ms. Contreras are amazing and have made my daughter's transition to Assumption a great experience. She looks forward to going to school everyday and enjoys the after school program. We really appreciate the small class size for TK (15 kids) and she's grown so much academically, emotionally and spiritually. We also appreciate how the school and staff have handled keeping the kids safe during these Covid times. read more

Our son is currently in 1st grade. It has been an excellent experience. Both Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers have exceeded our expectations and interactions with older grade staff have been great. The staff and parent community is welcoming, kind and generous. I greatly appreciate that the school has a social emotional and leadership programs intertwined in the grades and classes to help build character strength in addition to academics. The principal and vice principal are energetic, professional and communicate well the mission of the school and daily on-goings. We intend to stay for the full K-8th. There is extended care, music, art and Spanish programs as well. It is a great school, highly recommend it read more

My children enjoy coming to Assumption School every day. The staff is very supportive, especially during distance learning. Since they've returned to in person learning they have done so well academically. CYO sports have also returned, and they had a great volleyball season. I'm glad that we are a part of the Assumption community! read more

Wonderful teacher for kindergarten, beyond our wildest dreams for our daughter's first year. Super engaged parents, we wish we could do more because everyone here has so much participation. We are staying in the Bay Area because this school has been so amazing for our daughter. They have kept her safe during Covid, and we have an immune compromised preschool aged daughter at home. We needed someplace we could count on. I am so grateful for the year we have had with them. They are amazing people. Would love to have nicer newer, fancier facilities, but would trade great people for pretty facilities every day of the week. We almost picked Saint Theresa... sooooo incredibly glad we didn't. Assumption is all heart and we feel super grateful to be a part of the community. read more

Disclaimer: I am currently the 8th grade teacher at this great school but I am also a parent. This school has provided me with a wonderful opportunity to thrive as an educator. I witnessed the community of parents and families and the product of Assumption school graduates. They are successful students in high school and beyond. This brought me to trust and believe that my own children could thrive in this environment. I was right, they are thriving at the school. It has been a wonderful experience and I am a happy member of this great community. read more

My son joined assumption in August of this year and I couldn't have asked for a better school. There is a sense of community which makes me feel at ease that my son is in great hands. I love the curriculum have seen tremendous learning and development in my son and he's only been in the school for 3 months. The sky is the limit. Oh By the way they also have a lot of fun. Great events are planned year round that brings parents, children and the community together. All these joined together with a strong faith based environment which I admire. read more

I grew up in San Leandro and attended Assumption School from K-8th grade. I credit my experience at Assumption for preparing me for a rigorous high school education at Bishop O'Dowd, which further prepared me for college and beyond. The community at Assumption and the K-8 experience created friendships in my life that exist today. I now have two children of my own. I value quality education, but also an environment that assists my children to develop empathy, compassion for others, and leadership. I also value connecting with other parents who are on the same journey of parenthood as I am. Our children are currently in 2nd and K and we couldn't be happier with our experience. Assumption School matches what I value in a school perfectly. Our family has been welcomed with open arms to get involved at the school, our children have developed amazing friendships even during the midst of a global pandemic, and the teachers and administration are consistently open and responsive. Our school has followed Covid protocols closely and has done a wonderful job of providing a safe environment, while still finding ways to keep our community and students connected. If you're looking for a high-quality education that will nurture the full student, I encourage that you check out Assumption! read more

Assumption is a wonderful school. Both my daughter and son are enrolled. My son's in kindergarten and my daughter is in TK. I appreciate the diversity of the school. I'm thrilled my kids are also gaining a solid foundation in learning about the Catholic religion. Their teachers genuinely love and care about my kids. The classes are relatively small to ensure my kids get the attention they need. Throughout the pandemic, Assumption was a life saver as they abided by COVID 19 precautions to ensure my children were safe and remained healthy. Both kids are learning Spanish and my son is reading already. The parent community is very loving and kind. You really feel like a member of the Assumption family. I highly recommend the school! read more

Loving teachers, safe campus and good learning experience for my 2nd grader! Would recommend to all!

My nephew goes to the school here and he enjoys it a lot. That fact itself is more than enough to give them 5 stars. Cause if he likes the school, then they have to be good. He's been going to school here since he was in Kindergarten (I believe). The school teaches students until 8th grade. No high school here. Assumption is also situated in a lovely residential neighborhood. If you want your child to attend a fine Catholic school, then make sure to check out Assumption in San Leandro. read more

The school has a great community. Our daughter as well as ourselves have made lifelong friends. The intimacy of the school allows for issues of bullying to be addressed ASAP by parents and teachers. It is a catholic school but is very accepting to students of all religious backgrounds. The school is tucked away, almost hidden, which makes for a much safer neighborhood. There are never any transients walking or hanging around like other schools near busy streets. A new principal, who previously was the much loved 8th grade teacher, has been appointed. Her kids also attend the school which will allow her to have an all-around perspective. read more

My two kids attend kindergarten and transitional kindergarten at this school. I have been quite pleased with the education that they are receiving. My oldest began transitional kindergarten the start of the pandemic. He did distance learning at first, but later made a smooth transition to in-person learning. I credit the staff with making the transition as easy as possible. My youngest is blossoming as well. She has made a smooth transition from daycare to school. There are lots opportunities for children to grow. For example, there was recently a school wide oratorical fest. All students learned a poem to recite. At age 6 and age 5 my two were reciting poems! I would recommend this school to anyone seeking a fine school for their children. read more

Great school! Teachers did a fabulous job during distant learning. My daughter transitioned well despite how fast things changed. Teacher was very proactive through it all! Thank you Mrs E. We have been an Assumption School family since 2004. What we love about the school is the focus on community, inclusiveness, and kindness. Our oldest is now a sophomore in Loyola Marymount University and is doing great. And she still has close friends from her time at Assumption. We are close with many families from the school and work hard to make the school as good as possible. There is a solid group of dedicated parents, teachers, and administrators that make this place great! I still have 2 more kids who will graduate from Assumption. I'm positive they will be prepared for any high school; both academically and socially. read more

My son is in his 3rd year at Assumption and he's happy to be an Assumption student! My husband and I are looking forward to his journey to 8th grade. The school goes beyond the essential learning requirements; they teach kindness, social problem solving skills and how to work as a community. The school is like an extended family! We're also looking forward to our youngest child starting next year as a Kindergartner! The principal and staff I've communicated with are kind, caring, helpful and accommodating! One more thing, the fundraising events are fun too; kids and parents get to have fun at the annual fall festival and gingerbread decorating social (just to name a few) read more

Assumption Catholic School - 2018 Super Hero Festival - Elementary Schools Near Me - San Leandro, California

I have a third grader who absolutely loves this school, and we have been thrilled to find this gem in San Leandro. We are lucky to have 2 administrators per class (a Teacher and TA) and the staff is absolutely committed to making sure each child thrives. Not only is our son excelling in reading and in math, he is expressing a social conscience that goes beyond his years. We expected this school to excel in academics (you get what you pay for with a Catholic school education) but we did not expect the extra level of education that expresses kindness, compassion, leadership, and responsible citizenship in this dynamic and diverse community. read more

As a family, we chose Assumption for their ECLC program. We had toured other schools, but never felt the immediate warmth and welcome as we did when we walked through the gates. Spending two years at the ECLC we became more involved and soon realized that we wanted to fully envelop ourselves into the parish and join fully by converting to the Catholic faith. Taking turns, myself (Adair) completed the RCIA program at Assumption and was welcomed into the faith in July and Nick is now going through the process as well. We fell in love with Assumption. The fellowship that we feel, even through Covid, is unmatched. We know that not only do the teachers and faculty look out for our kids and love watching them grow, but we share that same feeling with the fellow parents. We watch our kids play, encourage each other, are shoulders to lean and cry on in the parking lot, without judgement or expectation. It is like we have always been a part of the Parish, even though it has only been three years. read more

I love Assumption School. My brother and I were lucky enough to attend Assumption in the '80s & '90s. It was a wonderful foundation for us then and is just as wonderful for my two children now. One of the major reasons I love the school is because of the community of students, parents, teachers and parishoners which has always been supportive. We have chosen to commute in from Pleasanton everyday in order for our children to grow up in this nurturing school environment. I am so glad that the TK opened this year and that my son, has the opportunity to have Ms. Sabrina, as a teacher. The amount of growth I have seen in him over the past three months is incredible. The kids come bounding out at the end of the day filled with joy and true love for their teacher. They are so proud to share their adventures of what happened that day. My son in 3rd grade has had incredibly attentive teachers who care about the whole child's development. This year that instead of a parent teacher conference, 3rd - 8th graders are invited into the meeting in early October for a goal setting discussion. This really instills in the child a sense of ownership in their learning. It also helps show the child how the parents and teachers are working together to help them grow and be their best. The school's tight knit community is due to a couple of factors. Since the school is a single class per grade, it is easy for all of the faculty and staff to get to know your child and family. With the school being TK - 8th grade, the older students are partnered with younger ones in school "families" during school activities. This creates quite the bond between the children and the opportunity for the older children to be seen as role models learning the importance of their actions around school. My husband and I have had the opportunity to develop great friendships while working on school events and boards. I can 100% say, Assumption is a great school to attend as a student and parent. I urge you to visit and see for yourself. read more

This a great school to consider for your children. They have great educators that provide a loving, caring environment for all children. It's early August and my two kids can't wait to get back to school. And, I must admit, I am looking forward to re-connecting with the families and teachers at Assumption, too. One of the things that really sets Assumption apart is the strength of the parent community. It's the "secret sauce" that binds parents, students (past and present), the teachers/staff and the parish community together. Assumption offers a solid academic curriculum in a safe, nurturing campus environment. The middle school is considered one of the best catholic middle schools in the east bay. read more

If you want a safe place for your child to learn how to be a socially responsible and active learner then Assumption is the place to look. My daughter has enjoyed her time at Assumption building connections and building skills that will last her a lifetime. On top of that the school has active parent groups that support each other, the children, and the school through fun community building activities. read more

I really like the sense of community at the school. The kids have a great time at the festival and all the other events they have. Assumption school is a wonderful place. Assumption's TK/K program has far exceeded my expectations (which were already high, as I have a 4th grader at the school). I have twin boys in Ms. Sabrina's TK class with very different personalities. She genuinely loves each child in her class so I can leave them at school knowing they are in a nurturing, safe environment. She has a website for parents and posts pictures of the kids several times a week, engrossed in their activities, so I get to see first hand how they spend their day. Her approach to learning is entirely age appropriate, she involves them in lots of varied activities and play, keeping them engaged and interested, which is no easy task with active boys. They can't wait to tell me what they learned at the end of each day. TK/K has it's own playground and a grass lawn for the kids to play on. They also love the interaction they get with the older kids at the school. There is a true community at Assumption, among the kids and families alike. What a great start to the next 10 years at Assumption. read more
