Where Kittery Eye falls down is in its customer service. I was assured that if, after trying progressive lenses for a week I was unable to adjust, I could simply come back and they would make it right. What a fantastic lie this was! Sure, I was able to come back, and they were able to change my lens to a standard lens, but the technician told me I'd need to speak to a manager to discuss a refund of the difference in lens price. I tried to contact the manager two days in a row about getting refunded the $250 difference between the progressive lens and the standard lens, and was told each time that they had already left for the day. When I finally did reach him, he was extremely rude and dismissive. Long story short, I was charged nearly $800 for a standard lens in a cheap frame! Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for your eye care.

She answered my questions, explained what she was doing, and was incredibly thoughtful with her recommendations. Because of these two women (and Jessica, who was taking notes), my visit was easy, comfortable, and somehow enjoyable. Do yourself a favor and go to this location if you need care (or just a pair of glasses!). You'll be glad you did it from the moment you schedule the visit (great scheduling system) to when you walk out the door.

They were loved by the community and their customer care was impeccable. The establishment was bought out by Christina and Enrico Palmerino several years ago now. They also own several other local Optical shops.. one is in Brooklyn New York. Since they took over in Newburyport the new business has received only 4 yelp reviews... 2 (5) star reviews and 2 (1) star reviews. Where I am from this is a significant red flag showing that this business needs improvement. It is also sad that Chrisina and Enrico did not wipe out Tommy's reviews because he and Dianne and several other employees worked very hard for those reviews! They should not be inherited they should be earned! My experience with the new owners has been rocky and unpleasant. The acting manager Clark Goodwin is a big part of the problem here at this business. Clark is moody, dismissive and he talks down to good customers. I returned 2 pairs of high end glasses three years ago and he was livid with me and he behaved unprofessionally towards me. Clark Goodwin sadly is the antithesis of what Tommy Collins was! I want to warn ALL of my disabled veteran friends , my healthcare friends ( retired RN here) and all the wonderful seniors in the area to take your business somewhere else. This company has no heart... they are a family of millionaires who could care less about customers and providing quality services to the residents of Newburyport. They have a nice selection of frames. I prefer to have Kim do my eyeglass fittings since I haven't always had a good outcome with others there, but no one is perfect. Kim makes sure it is, though. Covid stuff: Limit is three customers, they are very close to the entrance to the mall and they open at 10:00 which is an hour before the other stores which I like so that I can go when the food court isn't yet filled with people. They were able to accommodate my appointment change and were super sweet the whole time. This was my first time at this location, I had previously been to the Brighton Ave. spot about 5 years ago, and had a great experience. Then, insurance, life, money, employment, and Zenni optical online gave me a break from scheduling eye appointments... Fast forward to now and I decided a check up might be nice along with some new high quality frames that my insurance would partially pay for. I was worried about finding parking, but I got a spot right in front of the office. BRING CHANGE FOR THE METER. A few things really stood out for me here. First, it was run by all women. My eye doctor, the receptionist, the person who helps you pick out glasses. I love any business where females make up the majority. Second, the layout was simple, there were two rooms off the main entrance, but overall the space was small and well designed. The doctor was thorough and actually found something in one of my retinas that I need to be aware of, so I'm glad I went in. So, tell them Amanda B. For some reason, finding quality eye doctors in the Southern Maine area is a task. Having been to…read moreone eye doctor for about 7 years, I was hesitant to go somewhere new, but I am SO glad I did. I ended up coming across Beacon Eye Care after my dad came here and sang their praises. I scheduled an appointment and from there, it was magic. When I walked into Beacon Eye Care (which literally looks like a house), the woman at the front desk was incredibly nice and the place was pretty empty, which is also something I could appreciate. I was then welcomed by Dr. Lauren Boutet, who was such a gem of an eye doctor. I talked to her about some eye irritation I had been having and how my other eye doctor kind of dismissed it as dry eyes. Lauren took the time to figure out exactly what was going on and it turns out, I have an intolerance to some contact solutions! Ever since she diagnosed this issue, my eyes haven't been irritated and they are feeling great. She also went through my eye exam and she was incredibly patient and really put me at ease. I honestly HIGHLY recommend Beacon Eye Care and definitely will be a faithful patient of theirs.
