I was told to go sit in a room with another person and we read a sign that said that warranty work would cost a minimum of $25. I asked about it and was told by one of the employees that she couldn't explain it, and she didn't agree with it. A man came into the room and we asked him. He couldn't explain it either. I asked how they could charge for something they couldn't explain. I said it sounded like a "PFP" pure freakin' profit. I guess I need to find another eyeglass place, I mean, if they can't explain the charges to you, why buy from them?

I went to this practice but actually saw Dr. Lehouillier (not listed in YELP). He was outstanding. Professional, accommodating of my schedule, more than fair in pricing and just a nice person. His staff is amazing. I am in the healthcare industry myself and his staff has inspired me to try to make all my patients feel as important and welcome as his made me. AND after following me for several weeks my eye problems are behind me! So impressed. I would recommend this practice to anyone and everyone.

She explained there was some confusion because my practitioner had also gone on an unplanned extended leave. Which could account for some of my experience, but not quite all of it. Anyway, they took fantastic care of me after that. We finally did the tiny corrective procedure I needed and the doc was not shy about scheduling as many follow ups as remotely necessary. I even canceled the last one since everything was fine. I've been happy with the results since. Should have amended this a while ago. Bottom line: I'm glad I did it, but I can't give full marks because of my particular extended experience that probably isn't common.

They were able to switch the lenses into a pair of sunglasses I still had, that were luckily an identical frame. They also helped make sure I had sunglass clip-ons to use until I could get a replacement. The place was clean, well staffed, and they provided absolutely fantastic customer service. Highly recommend for any vision needs.

We made the appointment in or around September. The best date we could secure was on December 31. As we had little choice we accepted this inconvenient date and changed our New Year plans. Then at some point in mid to late December we received a message that our appointment was cancelled and we should call to make another appointment. To say that we were disappointed would be an understatement! We had waited for months and then a cancellation with no explanation as to why. No apology whatsoever! Be this as it may, I called to make a new appointment and was told the best they could do was at the END of March!! I would have thought I could get a new appointment sometime in January, but was told I had to go back to the end of the queue as if I were making a new appointment in December. I was truly disappointed. We saw the doctor who was polite and apologized for keeping us waiting for 45 minutes. I reminded her that it took us 6 months to get to this this appointment, that is including Maine Eye's earlier cancellation of our December appointment, but still no apologies for this earlier cancellation. After seeing the doctor at Maine Eye, I took my prescription for glasses down to their lab, but after leaving the building I decided to get another estimate for the prescribed lenses. Maine Eye's price was more than $100 more expensive, so I had my prescription filled elsewhere. I called Maine Eye to discuss my complaints with the Director. Maine Eye would not give me his/her office email or telephone number! I was shocked. On top of all this, this month I received a bill for my eye exam for $50 (for Refraction). I paid although I have not had to pay anything for an eye exam for at least 30 years. I have medical insurance, Medicare and VSP vision insurance. I was told AFTER the fact that Maine Eye does not accept VSP. Remember I was not afforded the means to send an email or get the Director's office telephone number. All in all. DISGFRACEFUL. If this is the care and service that Maine Eye provides, then we are in real trouble!!!! Dr. HA

But when I called right away to reschedule, I was told the earliest available appointment was approximately eight months later, and told it in no uncertain terms. Apparently, patients whose appointments are canceled by the practice are just returned to the back of the line. I really needed this appointment, so they really did me dirty.

For some reason, finding quality eye doctors in the Southern Maine area is a task. Having been to…read moreone eye doctor for about 7 years, I was hesitant to go somewhere new, but I am SO glad I did. I ended up coming across Beacon Eye Care after my dad came here and sang their praises. I scheduled an appointment and from there, it was magic. When I walked into Beacon Eye Care (which literally looks like a house), the woman at the front desk was incredibly nice and the place was pretty empty, which is also something I could appreciate. I was then welcomed by Dr. Lauren Boutet, who was such a gem of an eye doctor. I talked to her about some eye irritation I had been having and how my other eye doctor kind of dismissed it as dry eyes. Lauren took the time to figure out exactly what was going on and it turns out, I have an intolerance to some contact solutions! Ever since she diagnosed this issue, my eyes haven't been irritated and they are feeling great. She also went through my eye exam and she was incredibly patient and really put me at ease. I honestly HIGHLY recommend Beacon Eye Care and definitely will be a faithful patient of theirs.
