While others passed on an issue I was having on my face, she had a hunch something was wrong, cut it off, and sent it to the lab for analysis. It ended up being skin cancer! The receptionist was incredibly rude, had terrible communication skills (i.e.: used words like "uhm" and "nuh uh"), didn't know the hours of operation and lied about the companies missed appointment policy. We had an appointment scheduled for 2:30 PM and we were coming from Manchester, MI which is an 80 mile drive one way. Upon arriving to Clawson it was realized that there are 2 location within a half mile of each other with the same address of 510 Rochester Rd., Clawson, MI. Currently, I'm without my cell phone and locating a payphone was very complicated. Realizing that I was already an hour past our scheduled time and rush hour traffic had impeded my natural GPS abilities, I gave up my search and decided to reschedule. Once I was able to contact the office, the reality of who I was taking my child to have a medical/surgery procedure performed by came to light. In my experiences as a parent, I want to feel comfortable with the people who will be seeing my child. The receptionist is, essentially, the face of any office. A warm, courteous and well-spoken explanation of the policy would have sufficed. Next would be have been to secure a good report with the customer and to inquire as to why the appointment was not kept. Unfortunately, this was not the case, hence this lengthy complaint. The actual "doctor" was not available as I was told "He is not in today", to which I followed with "then who was going to be seeing my son?" the receptionist began to tell me different hours of operation than what was actually detailed on the voice messaging system. She would not let me explain the situation and I asked to have a return call from the "doctor" himself at which time the receptionist hung up on me. All of this begs the question "Who am I taking my child to?" Maybe I am asking for too much, maybe my money and Blue Cross health coverage isn't good enough or maybe they're just a shoddy, run of the mill practice. Dr. M barely talked to me before prescribing me medication. He kept trying to leave the room while I was still talking to him. I asked him a question, he shrugged and walked away without answering me! The medication he gave me was very strong and hazardous to take. Dr. M didn't discuss the medications many side effects, many drug interactions (one of which I had), risks of taking the medication (which include cancer!), or handling instruction (you are not suppose to handle the medication with bare hands!). I had serious side effects. He told me to keep taking the medicine because the side effects will go away. After 2 more weeks on the medication I was bedridden and almost hospitalized from side effects. I went to see him about it, the first thing he said was "I don't need to hear about it" because I was just dehydrated. I told him that the Mayo Clinic website says these are symptoms of a severe reaction to the med. He told me "Everything is a side effect" and that it wasn't from the medication. And told me I could do "Whatever I wanted." WHAT?!?! I consulted another specialist. They were shocked and told me to spot talking the medication immediately because I was on the verge of having a heart attack (even though I am young and health). WORST DOCTOR!!
