The camel in your commercial, while slightly attractive, was off putting as the man riding it seemed to have bad teeth and hair. As well as a stupid looking hat. It occurs to me that if you were in the business of selling cars, you would put more emphasis on the pure attractiveness of said camel and not the man. Very offputting and disappointing. It is really irritating when these websites don't post prices, and even worse when you go in person, and have to track someone down to get prices. Then when you have to search for someone to help you, they act like there doing you the favor by helping you. If you have to go through red tape to get a price, the place must be hiding something. After three 10-15 minute holds, I was able to ascertain what their financing requirements are for a friend of mine, before we drive all of the way to Blue Springs, MO. You must gross $2,000 month and work 40 hours a week. So, no, they don't finance "anyone, no matter what your credit is." Most people making $10 hour x 4.5 weeks a month would still only gross $1800 mth. This is very bait & switch for low wage earners, who are their targets. Don't waste your gas. Remember all bad credit & unpaid bills that your spouse got in the divorce & did not pay, falls off in 7 years, except for school loans which can be re-negotiated, so never file bankruptcy. Wait it out instead of being slammed for the next 10 yrs by the bankruptcy, and having to deal with these predators. I've been through 2 divorces and have my credit score back up to the 800's. My review is based on an accidental message left by an unknowing employee from this company. The man in question was talking to another employee, discussing getting "black-out drunk" and having to talk to (his words, not my own) "that fatty at the bar". While I did not end up buying a car from them, I would imagine respect is not a common courtesy extended at this company if this is a of the quality of conversations held by the staff. read more

Seemingly friendly service has turned into a bait n' switch with a company which won't stand behind their inventory... Unless it's to push it off the lot. I purchased a 2005 Volkswagon Jetta and was given assurances by the sales manager, general manager, and my sales rep. that Asset Auto took care of their customers. This, combined with fairly positive word of mouth, gave me the confidence I needed to buy a car from this group. At the time of purchase, they agreed to fill a few holes in the windshield, repair a few minor cosmetic issues in the cabin, and that would be that. The day after purchase, I noticed the driver's side front tire wasn't holding pressure. I mentioned I was having to fill the tire up to the correct 33lbs PSI three to four times a week to the mechanic at Asset's chop-shop like repair facility located smack dab in the middle of a questionable area of Troost Ave., and he said he would check it out. When I picked the car up later that day, he told me he couldn't find anything wrong with the tire. I checked and the pressure was holding at 33. The next morning, it was down to 13. Seemed shady to me. I made plans to have the tire checked over by someone I trust the coming weekend, and went on my way. A few days later I saunter up to my Jetta to hop over to the market for some cold meds when I notice the tire is completely flat. I change the tire. It's a pain, but I thought I might have to do this sooner rather than later - I'd just hoped it would have made it to the weekend. I toss the flat in the trunk and get in, ready to finally retrieve my meds from the store when I turn the key and find... Nothing. The car does nothing. The battery is dead. I quickly check to see if there are any lights I left on, or if I had forgotten to turn off the heated seats (which I'd read never to leave on as they will drain the battery) and find that everything is switched off. I call up Asset, willing to overlook the tire fiasco because tires go through a lot, even in a month of ownership. But the battery? Being completely dead? This soon? I reach my original salesman, Tom, who tells me to call the repair shop in the morning. He's fairly sympathetic. I call the repair shop and get JR (or JB) who mumbles through the conversation and tells me to call Tom before I've even gotten halfway through my story. I call Tom. He tells me he'll call me back. This seems like an extraordinary number of calls for a battery. Tom rings and tells me they feel it's my responsibility to replace the battery, as these parts are consumable and this would have happened sooner or later anyway. Sure. I buy that. Three months after ownership maybe. It'd still be hard to swallow, but at least I'd feel like I'd actually gotten some milage on the battery before it died. He disagrees and again tells me they won't do anything to help. I'd made the first payment on the car the Monday prior to this. The check hasn't even been cashed yet. Buying a used vehicle can be a gamble - but when you're buying from Asset Auto, it would seem it's a safe bet you're getting the shaft. read more

If you want to be lied to right to your face go on down and ask for Larry, and all that talk you see on the infomercial with the camel, don't buy it. They don't have one. I contacted them via email several times trying to just get a ballpark idea of how big of a loan I would get if I indeed did qualify which I did. At least that is what Larry told me. He said that my financing was approved and I could get the nice looking Dodge Ram 1500 ext cab 4WD truck that we had talked about. well after just sitting around their less than hospitable dealership for probably 2 1/2 or 3 hours listening to Larry talk himself up and how good of a truck it was he finally decided to go and see what the financing office had to say. He came back and reassured me I was approved and how hard he worked to get them to approve me. They required just one more document about my child support so I drive all the way back to Overland Park got the required documentation and off to Blue Springs we go again because I'm having to bum a ride because I blew up my previous truck, I get back there and they are confused because my support ppwk actually matched my banking records that I already produced earlier that day. so by now 6 o'clock is approaching and I had been there since about 9:30 he said that he wasn't gonna get the ppwk done today because the financiers were dragging their feet. And what time I could come back tomorrow to sign the afore mentioned agreement and drive off in my new truck. Well I told him it would have to definitely be after 5 because I had to work after taking this entire day for a process according to the infomercial shouldn't take more than a couple of hours with no down payment or trade in with monthly payments of only $250. I agree and ask him to call me as soon as he had the contract for me to sign. 10 am next day he calls says he got another financier because he was done waiting for his and what time I could be there but now I have to put down $500 I say by 6 and go on about my day thinking "damn that Larry is an alright dude he has been trying hard" I get the call can't get financed on the truck he said too many miles on it BUT he has an suv he could put me right in. I said thanks but no thanks I got to have a truck for my tools to go in for work and that I have a lead on another vehicle but thanks anyway for wasting my time. So now on Fri. here I am in the other dealership signing the ppwk for my new badass Silverado 4wd ext cab 4 door truck and my phone rings I answer and to my dismay it's Lounge Lizard Larry with asset auto I cut him off said I was signing ppwk at that very moment and hung up. SO PEOPLE BEWARE OF ASSET AUTO THEY ARE NOT GOOD PEOPLE TO DO BUSINESS WITH!!!!!!!!!!! And besides the long hair cowboy that rides the camel on TV I really don't think he's real.................................. read more

I have never done a review on Yelp but this experience was so awful I have to warn others. 1. Went in for a car loan post Chapter 7. I started my search via Auto Credit Express who sent my information to Asset Auto. 2. Cindy called me from Asset Auto assuring me that my credit had been reviewed and approved for anything on the lot and I would have no down payment based on certain cars and on more expensive cars I would be looking at a down payment. 3. Arrived at Asset Auto and passed off to Tim. Tim had to run my credit and shot gun blasted it out everywhere. Was told I needed 500 down with 4 - 5 cars to choose from. Selected a car with the intention of arriving the next morning to purchase. 4. Next morning no Tim, I was back with Cindy. Brought my wife who wanted to look at the other remaining car options. Test drove cars and was told I only had one option due to lender. Needless to say I took my business somewhere else. I intend on suing to remove all the negative hard pulls on my credit. 5. These people are not professional, sales building is disgusting. They try to force you to sit in a room and treat you like you're incarcerated. Please save yourself the time from these bait and switch crooks. read more

BEWARE before buying! My son bought a used car at this dealership. He was home on leave from the service and needed to find a good car in a hurry so he could drive cross-country to his new duty station. Although the car looked good, it didn't pass inspection, but Asset Auto said they would take it to "our guys" and it passed. When my son reached his duty station, the car was driving so crazy he took it in and it needed four new tires - he was told someone had taken a hammer and pounded the bent frame, but the tires wore unevenly. Apparently the car had been totaled and repaired, which was not disclosed to him. The car had so many defects it was not safe to drive and eventually my son had to sell it for scrap, only a few months later. Shame on Asset Auto for taking advantage of a young US serviceman, and shame on them for taking advantage of anyone. read more

I wish we would have done more research before even stopping here... Very sleazy/sneaky sales tactics used - salesman wouldn't tell us how much the vehicle would be and had us sign papers saying we'd buy the car if the terms were "agreeable". He would not give us a price until the very, very end of the sale. We asked how much it would cost to get the car tagged and were told that with our trade in the car would only be @ $10,000 so taxes would be @ $7,000. Ends up that even with our trade in the car cost us over $13,000 so taxes will be over $1,000. We will be talking to a lawyer about the tactics used and reporting to the BBB. Do NOT stop here. I want to save anyone the embarrassment and heartache of visiting Asset Automotive or Ride A Way credit. Yes I feel both of these words I put above. I only want to help out the next person that had the same mind frame of connecting with a worthy dealership, not looking to get pushed around, lied to or on by the salesman in the midst of a complaint or even worse RIPPED OFF!! That's what Dusty (the Manager) and Greg (the car salesman) will do to you at Asset Automotive in Blue Springs. If you're in any position like I was at that time and place and you have bad credit, no cash, limited knowledge about how this business is ran, then you are in for a treat that will forever leave a sour taste in your mouth. These guys, are nice guys but I kid you not they will sell you a car double if not triple it's resale or it's book value and they will be happy to do it. They will lie to you, the loan companies they are contracted with will not serve any justice either because they be more than happy to sell you a car, SUV, truck for more than it's worth and even attorneys will make sure you keep the car and they get to keep that cash. I don't wanna hurt your eyes with a super long story but just remember this. $0 is cool when you don't have a car but it will get super hot when you finally realize how much money you're losing now and in the long run and how they they are okay with having "Another unsatisfied customer". A learning experience is what they call it and this is what's happening to me as we speak. If you're like me, the person that let a car lot with super nice cars fool you into thinking those people "care about your credit or well being" are cool, honest and LEGIT let me be the first or next person to tell you... DON'T PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM ASSET AUTOMOTIVE OR RIDE A WAY CREDIT. They are definitely wolves in sheep clothing. BE CAREFUL!! And this silly commercial with the camel?? Do not buy from here! We drove an hour and a half. We specifically told them what we needed and they sent us home in a minivan. We needed a truck or at least 6 passenger SUV. 2 days later they tell us we do not qualify for the van they sent us home in and instead talked my husband into an equanox which doesn't seat our family of 6 and isn't 4 wheel drive. At 10 pm after signing paperwork we are informed we need several pieces of paperwork to them by the next day. I.e. bank statements and such AND my sons SSI benefit letter which we all know takes time to get. They hounded us daily until it arrived and continuously threatened to take the vehicle. After finally getting all paperwork to them a week later they email me on a Monday and said we HAD to drive down THAT DAY and RESIGN some of the paperwork. Thing is it had same sale date on it. Also they did NOT have the title ready within 30 days. So our vehicle sits in the driveway unable to be licensed. We were promised title days ago and still nothing. We will be telling them to take the car back. Its been nothing but a headache and the run around. And now they aren't even nagging for the late payment. They know they screwed up. read more

A customer shouldn't have to be the one contacting an establishment especially after being told, "I'll call you at this time. I'll call you right back." It's unprofessiona not keeping your word because it proves you can't be trusted in a smaller matter as simple as a call back. I don't want to think about the treatment I could've received had I bought from them. It's a big slap in the face by them, because they know I'm in a bad situation (my car is not working). They are so rude, we have had the HARDEST time we've ever had getting a car licensed! They gave us an expired inspection slip, we got our paperwork the day before our tags expired. Which was on a Friday which means we had to wait till Monday to license it. They are hassling us about THEIR mistakes and are so rude. if I didn't have to I wouldn't even give them one star! read more

To anyone thinking of buying a car from Asset Auto in Blue Springs Mo. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE!!! I was a salesman there, and (I EMPHASIZE WAS) because I quit after I was cussed out by the manager for asking him to help me answer the phone.  I was already looking for another job because when I was hired I was told by a manager that they sold 50 cars a month and that they wanted to become a 70 car a month store.  I went to work and was given a list of people who went to cars.com and filled out credit information and was told to call them and tell them they were approved to buy cars. NOT TRUE!!!!!!  Nobody was ever already approved!!!!  They just want you to get them in the door where they put them in a room close the door fill out a application at that time then see if they can SCREW them.  If they can you will be there for 4-5 hours waiting for Dusty the owners son, or Jerry the so called manager to find a bank that will let them SCREW you as well.  "They want a truck for work" is what the customer might say.  Dusty would say "I don't give a sh@@!  Go show them the Suzuki S4!  We can knock thier head off with that, and don't come back until they drove it!!!"  Once that happens they might get to look at one more vehicle, a minivan or possibly the most stripped down piece of junk truck there is, if so this is where the KILL comes!  They will show them payments ONLY!! Not how much the car is or how long they are paying for or that the interest is 27.99% for 72 months.  Then on top of all that they will tell everyone, that they MUST purchase gap insurance at $800.00 or the bank WOULD NOT finance them. That I believe is against the law, and I know for certain is against bank regulations, as YOU can get the insurance from your independent agency in many cases at as low as $150.00.  ON TOP OF THAT NONE OF THE CARS HAVE ANY WARRANTY, UNLESS IT IS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS TO BE NEW ENOUGH TO HAVE SOME LEFT FROM THE FACTORY!!! I feel horrible and sick about the cars I sold in the 6 weeks I was there.  I have been in the business for 10 years and have never seen or heard of a more terrible dealership. I only stayed as long as I did because I am the sole provider for a family of 6, and couldn't find anything else at the time.  I apologize to everyone that I sold a car to, and will help anyone who wants to pursue any issues concerning their purchase. read more
