Came here to wax my legs last minute before a vacation. When i walked in it was empty and saw two employees. No one greeted me or said anything, they actually waited until i said something first. I said i wanted to wax my legs, and the woman at the front desk said something to the other woman in another language and she then walked me into a room. I didnt like how she treated her colleagues or how no one greeted me. The waxing session itself was very painful, other wax places don't hurt as much as this did. They use all purpose wax, which she had to repeatedly go over the same areas because it wasn't working well. The lady was so nice though, she was great. I am not coming back because the wax is really cheap and they double dipped. read more

Even if there is a bit of a wait, I like how they don't rush because they want to be precise. They accept credit cards. There is plenty of street parking as well. I've been coming here for my brazilians for 4 months now. Sajida does my waxing and it's probably the best service I've had in the 2 years that I've been waxing. I personally don't mind how invasive she gets, because she makes sure she grabs everything and leaves nothing behind. (I've had wax left on me numerous times in the past at European Wax.). I stopped by for the first time on a Thursday afternoon to get my eyebrows threaded for the first time in 3 months. My situation was pretty bad, if you know what I mean and I was in need of some professional help. Kusum was friendly and did a SUPERB job! Normally I get pretty angry red up there after a threading and I was bracing myself to tear up and grit my teeth for the pain but she was so gentle and I literally had none of my usual pain. The space is very clean, pretty and minimalistic. All their tools are hidden behind large mirrors situated in front of each chair so there isn't any tables with clutter on it. The whole salon is cozy but roomy. There was another customer there and she was able to have her baby and a stroller right now to her. Mamas gotta have nice brows too, y'know. At $7+tip, I'm a return customer for sure and will be asking for Kusum for all my future appointments! Plenty of residential parking in the area. read more

Horrible. I went to get my eyebrows done and decided to try to do the eyebrow tint it looked like my son took a sharpie and tried to paint my eyebrow...he woulda have done a better job. BAD BAD BAD salon! It looks nice and clean but the girl there is very unprofessional and inexperienced! They waxed my face for full face. (I do 1/2 wax, 1/2 threading) She RIPPED my skin with the wax and then had the nerve to say I did it with my nails trying to scratch the wax off. Um, NO B! I have always gone here and never have had an issue with wax or threading until about 3 days ago. The wax felt alot hotter than normal and I was in much more pain afterwards. The lady immediately looked nervous and started rubbing different lotions on me which only made the pain worst. The next day I woke up to the skin under my eyebrow being raw. Don't know if I'll come back. Definitely not getting my upper lip done here ever again, not sure if it was their fault or just my skin but I had an incredibly bad breakout on my upper lift after getting the wax. She missed sooooo many of my hairs doing my Brazilian and I was so embarrassed. It was super painful and she kept going on the same side despite my obvious discomfort (I really could've used a break). I let my hairs grow for 2 1/2 weeks which I thought would be long enough for her not to miss so many hairs on my crotch and on my legs. It was a bit ridiculous to be honest. I might come back if I'm in a pinch to get a wax just 'cause they're close by but I don't think so. read more

This is the only place I come to get my brows threaded. They are so gentle and can get your brows threaded with as minimal pain as possible. Other places I have been to rushed through it and resulted in painful techniques and also threaded too much of my brows. First Impressions: While it was my first time here, it was only my second time getting a Brazilian (and waxing in general). Parking was easy to find, I drove right up to the front. It is a small salon, only 3 chairs and 2 private rooms, but seems new and clean. Only 2 employees present on an early Friday afternoon: I was greeted and led to a waxing room by one, and waited for about 5 minutes for the waxer, as she was giving the one other customer an eyebrow threading. The Waxing Experience: The waxer was a middle-aged Indian woman who seemed to have a lot of experience doing Brazilian waxes. She was very quick and looked like she knew exactly where to place the strips. Compared to my one other experience getting a Brazilian, this waxer scores a 10 (the other, at the nearby Mille's Salon and Spa would rank about a 5). I would definitely come back here, but would definitely have to be waxed by the same woman! read more

The last time I came here I left hysterically crying. I've been here many times. While I have left this salon perfectly happy with my eyebrows on all previous visits, my last visit literally left me in tears. The girl was new which I knew as soon as a walked in. I debated waiting for one of the other ladies but I didn't want to offend anyone. I honestly should have stopped the girl as soon as she put cold wax on my face. The waxing did not hurt at all considering she did not know what she was doing and was barely waxing my eyebrows. As soon as the girl pulled the last strip up and it hurt I knew something was wrong. I sat up and saw a chunk of my eyebrow missing. I no joke have a nike check for an eyebrow. Who I think was the owner came running out from the back as soon as I said "OH MY GOD." She tried to fix it but fixing it would have meant taking off half of my eyebrow and I wasn't about to let them cause any more damage. I wasn't going to write a review but after having to waste time for the past week filling in my bald spot I'm still pretty upset. I don't even own makeup to properly fill in my eyebrows. Point of this review is this place isn't bad but just make sure you get one of the experienced ladies to do your threading/waxing. Also, the waxing was so painless I was able to keep my eyes open and watch the girl from the mirror. This threading/waxing salon are like others but much cleaner, neater, more minimalist (in decor) and the staff is much more attentive. I came here to get my underarms waxed since it is very close by my house. There is plenty of street parking and it is close to the highway which is a plus. The staff here are friendly and they try to make small talk with you. Underarms is $10 which is reasonable. The place is very clean inside and they don't double dip. They put the wax they will use for you in a small separate bowl. Afterwards, if they still see hair, they'll thread it for you. Their wax smells like chocolate and the waxer told me they use chocolate wax. I would definitely come back because of their reasonable price and ample parking. read more

This is my first and only place I go to to get my brows done. I have been coming here almost every month for around two years and Diya threads my brows so effortlessly. It hurts at first but once you do it often, you get used to the pain and it doesn't really bother you anymore. She really cares about her clients and wants you to feel comfortable! I remember when I first used to get them done I would cry and she'd ask if I was okay and if I want to take a moment to recollect myself, haha! So I have been to both locations. I lean towards the Whitestone location more in terms of geographical convenience. The reason why I rate this place so high is the service outcome has been positive for me and they are consistent. Most important they are clean. They do not charge you more to use a clean stick for wax, it's what they do. For Bikini wax they take wax and put in separate cup and do not dip into the main supply. They do not rush thru the job. Finally, there prices are reasonable. Use the difference for the tip since the ladies usually have a genuine smile. Very different staff vibe than other places. read more

There are few things I actually work hard to maintain, one of them being my eyebrows. Believe me, those eyebrow horror stories.. i've been part of that. Thin, uneven eyebrows? Yeah, been there done that. So it's only fair that I have trust issues in the threading and waxing world. I'm not the type to try new places, once I feel comfortable I'm there to stay. But my usual threading spot was becoming too pricey (she does a beautiful job though guys, if you wanna try her out- Natalies Unisex on Peninsula Blvd in Hewlett). I'm not a fan of waxing bc it irritates my skin and makes me all itchy so there aren't many close options. I saw Aspire and quickly looked it up and saw great reviews and was super excited bc it was $7, which for the area, i consider a steal. So of course, i got lost in time and gradually my eyebrows took control and i knew the moment i'd go to get them threaded, that it'd hurt big time. Not the case. I wish i could remember her name but she's a super sweet girl and after striking up conversation i found out shes from Nepal. So if you go, trust she'll do good! She took her time, made sure to ask me what i wanted and had me check to see if everything was looking good. The shop is clean and neat, which is super important to me bc there's enough germs and bacteria out there. The main entrance is on W Broadway but you can also enter from the back by Trader Joes. If there isn't any parking in front, there's space in TJ's lot. I recommend!! And look forward to going back. read more

This was my first time at this salon. I got my eyebrows threaded and my underarms waxed. I'm happy with my eyebrows. The technician waxed my underarms and then threaded some small hairs. She literally burned my underarms I couldn't even take pics because I put so aloe cooling gel. I would not recommend getting waxed at this place. So I came here on Friday & I had called beforehand just to make an appointment for later that afternoon just in case it would be busy. The area they're located in was busy as hell & there was a massive amount of traffic coming from the highway nearby. I had to park a block away since there was very little parking space. When I went in, it was empty & quiet. The woman took me in right away & I informed her that it would be my first time getting a Brazillian wax. Before she started, she would ask if this would be okay, can she use that & I liked that instead of her just going ahead & doing her thing. She asked me if the wax (it smelled like chocolate) was too hot & I told her a little & she made sure that it wasn't as hot. She asked me a couple of times if I was okay & she "cleaned up" afterwards. I tipped her more than I should have & I realized when I got home she missed a few hairs which irritated me since she was inspecting to make sure she got everything which she clearly didn't. I wouldn't mind going back but I will make sure everything's good to go before I leave so I don't have this mishap again. I don't recommend this place for threading though. I don't know what the woman's name was but my best friend got her chin threadded while I was getting waxed & the next day, her chin had little blood spots all over. read more

I suspect my chimpanzee parents had a similar thinking process. I may be the chimp equivalent of a hairless goddess, but I've no such luck in the concrete jungle :( It's all about perspective, right? It turns out you can't go back to the wilderness, so instead I go from one place to the next, in search of a bearable wax that won't break the bank. Aspire is extremely out of my way, because my philosophy has always been, "If I have to take a bus, you are too far." However, there was a Groupon package available for 6 full-leg waxes for half the list price, so I considered it (and considered it). After seeing the other Yelp reviews, I took a leap of faith and figured I can make a trip to Whitestone once a month to regain human legs for two weeks at a time. Diya fulfilled my 1 p.m. Saturday wax, and it was quite possibly the most thorough and least painful wax I've had so far. It still hurt, but she ripped away the wax in smaller sections than I've seen anyone do before, and went back over spots she noticed she missed, sometimes even if there was only a single hair. By the looks of the hair growth, she thought I had shaved, but I haven't shaved my legs once since last June - I can't keep up, so I made a permanent switch to waxing - but I think it's proof my last wax at Threading Way in Astoria wasn't up to par. In the waxes I've had so far, I still can't figure out how high up on your upper leg is still part of a "full leg"/doesn't encroach upon "bikini line" territory, because everyone has chosen a different cutoff, but I also don't care. The hot towel to wipe away the oil is a great touch and gives your bruised and battered legs a bit of welcome relief. My only complaint/advice would be to change the position or orientation of the waxing bed/table so the waxer doesn't end up cramped in the corner while trying to do the leg closer to the wall - the rooms are spacious enough. I have 5 more waxes to decide whether I'll have a monthly date in Whitestone for the foreseeable future. It's looking pretty good right now! read more
