Caring Heart had such great reviews on so many home care review sites, as well as several best of home care awards and A+ accreditation, and now I see why. They have been fantastic in every way for my family. The company is small enough that the management, nursing and caretaker team work together, are cohesive and informed of what's going on with my folks, and keep us informed when needed. They are accommodating, very responsive, easy to reach and work with, and deeply care about their clients. It really shows. My folks aren't easy to please, but they really like their caregivers, because Caring Heart does a great job of choosing caregivers who have compatibility with them, and who truly enjoy being caregivers and it's their career - not a side job or temporary contract. Even better, we will have the same caregivers for as long as we need them, which is so reassuring and makes it so much easier on our family and gives us great peace of mind. I've learned in this process that what really matters, is the quality, consistency and genuine caring of the caregivers and the management team, and Caring Heart has that heart. They are dedicated to providing the best care with the same caregivers week to week, who are very reliable. Even better, they are run by nurses, and the Dir of Nursing has been intimately involved in assessing what my step dad needed for care when he came home from the hospital, helped us get prepared for him, and oversees their caregivers. Circle of Care provided a caretaker for approximately eight hours a week to provide relief for the full time caretaker hired through different agency. For reasons beyond anyone's control, the relief caretaker wasn't able to sustain her commitment. Circle of Care was determined and aggressive in finding a replacement to avoid any lapse in care. Most importantly, Cynthia, the CEO at Circle of Care, demonstrated kindness, empathy, and dedication. She was always accessible and responsive to questions or concerns. Shannon, as the COO, clearly explained administrative details, which included the all-important question of fees, etc. My mother passed away after five months of in-home care, and while I don't anticipate needing similar service anytime soon, I would definitely recommend Circle of Care to others.

The management team at Select Home was outstanding - readily available by text, email and phone on weekends and even "after hours". This was really critical for our family since two of three of my mom's kids live out of state. We found Select Home when my mother's needs changed from 8 hours during the day to requiring full time support. While my mother loved a few of the care team people at that organization they weren't able to staff up to meet my mom's increasing needs. Select Home jumped in and worked their scheduling with this other firm so that my mom could also have a favorite caregiver from that company continue to provide support. We can't say enough good things about Select Home. My only complaint (and they know this) is that we had to pay via check (no auto debit or e-check options).

We hired them to take care of my elderly mother who was rapidly declining, but I ended up supervising the caregivers even when we had 2 caregivers because my mother was such a fall risk. When I wasn't there, my mother ended up falling and hitting her head. There was always confusion when new staff arrived because the office staff was not communicating well the instructions on getting into my mother's building. As a nurse, we always have a hand off when care is changing over. There was none of that with their caregivers. At least they would not abandon their clients and wait until the next caregiver would arrive. They claim that they have med trained staff, but their training was only 5 hours and it was only sufficient for meds that were scheduled. If meds were as needed, they did not have the training to adequately give them. Most of the "medication trained" staff that I spoke to did not even know what common medications were used for, what side effects to look for ect. Their caregivers may be adequate for clients who don't have family to care for them who are completely cognizant but I would not recommend them for confused elderly patients with complex medical issues. Moved my mom into Hopewell house where she received excellent, compassionate, competent care. I was finally able to leave her feeling confident in their capable care.

That's exactly where the Hospice & Palliative Care came in to help when needed. They provided my home comfort for my mom, in 2008, when she decided to come live with me. They called in for everything SHE NEEDED, to make her life easier: bed, support, someone to come clean her, do her nails, and I can call them anytime day or night - someone is always on the phone ready for my questions or whatever I needed. I'm not a caregiver, nor have I ever worked in a hospital, nor would I ever want to, . . . but I became one instantly, just because I have that 'mother experience - two kids of my own,' and taking care of a mother was difficult specially if she became a tantrum teenager @ almost 91 years old. Very difficult indeed! It was also a chance for her & me to bond, with a happy ending. But that's not why I'm reviewing, just something to think about, why I NEVER gave up. She was my mom, afterall! Hospice & Palliative Care made it easy for me, because they are always there to guide me, & support me and give me advice, or comfort me when I'm breaking bad, and calm me down take charge once again. My mom was able to eat foods she used to eat @ home, or when she was younger . . . the hospital or any care giving home wouldn't have given her choices. Mom was able to get help when she rang the bell, or if she needed help just to go to the bathroom, or for a walk outside in my backyard, in the comfort of our secluded private backyard and a driveway where she can easily walk her walker. Or do that by herself, while I sit in my hammock, doing my quilting or reading a book, or tending my roses. Sometimes, when I visit people in hospice care, elsewhere, I feel nothing but sadness for them, because their families are nowhere to be found, or seldom visits them. They have no views in their room, but 4 walls. In my home, mom had enough to keep her entertained, and she could see my garden from her bed, or listen to piano playing next room, or someone to pray with her everyday, or read poems to her. She always have my husband & me, or families 24hrs. day or night. The Hospice & Palliative Care, care about safety, medications, equipment we were using, and they'd want us to ask questions and to help us understand the care I'm giving mom. They listen. I believe that is was also important that the doctor they provided also understands my mom's illness and they succeeded and will recommend Providence Home Services to anyone. With their help, I think I gave mom the best care she needed with their help.
