I was a loyal hardworking employee of SHC for 8 years doing a variety of tasks from Caregiving, Scheduling and everything in between. I was employed from December 2015 to December 2023. I unfortunately needed to quit my job because I moved away to take care of a family member on hospice. At that time, the administrator was Jamie and I learned so much from her and the owner, Scott. I enjoyed my time working in the office with the team and also appreciated it when given the opportunity to take on some caregiving shifts as well. Helping people is a passion mine and working for SHC I was able to do just that. I'm grateful to Scott for the opportunity to work for a rewarding company. The Select Home Team provided outstanding support for over 2 years for my mother. We had 24 hour support from Select Home and found the care team to be kind and well trained. The management team at Select Home was outstanding - readily available by text, email and phone on weekends and even "after hours". This was really critical for our family since two of three of my mom's kids live out of state. We found Select Home when my mother's needs changed from 8 hours during the day to requiring full time support. While my mother loved a few of the care team people at that organization they weren't able to staff up to meet my mom's increasing needs. Select Home jumped in and worked their scheduling with this other firm so that my mom could also have a favorite caregiver from that company continue to provide support. We can't say enough good things about Select Home. My only complaint (and they know this) is that we had to pay via check (no auto debit or e-check options). read more

I have worked with Select Home Care for many years and have referred many of my own clients to receive personal home care. Some situations are easy, and others not so much. Regardless of the type of client or length of caregiving needs Select has always stepped up to the plate and taken care of these clients. Not all home care agencies are as easy to work with. To be honest -- I don't were to begin other than to say that my love for this company and the people who work there is boundless! My parents are from Ireland and I am the sole caregiver for my mom in Portland Oregon. She has Lewis Bodies dementia and broke her hip in October 2015. When I met Jamie... I felt overwhelmed and helpless. As a single mom with two teenage kids and an ailing mother... I needed help. From the word hello ... Jamie took me under her wing, listened, showed compassion, and assured me she and her team were here to help. I have never looked once. They have become my family and my support. They have accompanied my mom for over two years on her journey through multiple hospital visits, two broken hips, memory care, skilled nursing, and hours of therapy. They have been with me while I tried to include my mom in the kids' high school celebrations, birthdays, and day-to-day activities -- while she was able. As my mom's condition has progressed and she broke her second hip, and now is bedridden. Regardless of the new challenges presented...they stay by her side and simply love her. Of recent days... my mother has become very tearful and scared. I have walked into her room to find a caregiver holding her hand and offering comfort. The nursing staff at the facility also appreciates Select Homes care and support. They admit that they could not provide adequate care my mom on their own on their own because she is such a high risk factor (who she loves to sneak out of her bed all day long -- appropriately earning the nickname of Houdini). Recently work schedule has changed and I travel almost on a weekly basis. Without the help of Jamie and her team... I don't know how I would be able to manage things. Simply put... They give me 'peace of mind'! Also Jamie is extremely responsive (even on nights and weekends) to schedule changes and questions. Her response Always "no problem... Will get this done." I kind and compassionate side of her is also seen when she brings in a huge bag of M&Ms. My mom's face lights up as though she has just delivered a bag of gold!! To speak about each caregiver would bring me to tears! They have played hundreds of rounds of dominos, watched the Golf channel for endless hours, and sat through "the sound of music" often three times in the same night. They are patient, kind, and loving. I actually see God in each of their faces as come to her room day after day without fail. On days when I find it hard to see my mom.... They extend their love and support to me. Words cannot express the difference Jamie and her team have made in my life. Without reservation, I recommend Select Home. I needed a part time caregiver to assist with a relative who has dementia and mental illness. The relative lives in a care facility but we wanted her to go out with a caregiver once a week for small errands and exercise. I contacted Select and explained that the relative is high functioning and very manipulative and that any person they send must be able to stand up to her and only take her to authorized places due to safety and financial issues. The caregiver must have experience with dementia patients and with difficult and sometimes verbally hostile clients. Well, the first person they sent was sweet but completely incompetent. She might have been competent to supervise a hamster. Maybe. Despite explicit and detailed instructions on where she could and could not take my relative, she took her to unauthorized places three times, resulting in my relative opening charge accounts and running up other bills that she could not pay. The caregiver "was afraid to make her mad!" Well, then she should not have agreed to take on a difficult client, who by the way is only verbally difficult never physically combative. The other caregiver was more competent but completely unprofessional and within minutes of meeting my relative, who is incompetent to make her own decisions, suggested that she could work for her directly "under the table" and leave me and the agency out of it. Which means no license, no bond, no supervision, no protection for me or my relative. If you have a caged rodent that needs assistance, you can probably trust this agency. Anything more complex, look elsewhere. read more
