On May 2nd after my first (new patient) appointment was confirmed, I was in office, exchanged insurance info, filled out the necessary paperwork, as I waited there I was informed they are under staffed and I'd have to reschedule. What? Now the 2nd attempt on May 9th I arrived early, start at 5pm take X-rays 5:15pm wait in a room. 6 pm still nothing, I left told the receptionist I'd be right back- went and got something to eat, 6:10 pm back in the same chair I was waiting in. 6:15pm sat in dental chair had measurements taken for the gums & was informed I should purchase there Oral B Rotary cordless toothbrush, and I need 2 separate cleanings. Then the Dentist showed up- I explained to him - are you running a puppy shop here? Of course not, as he reviewed my dental hygiene. He apologized for the long wait, and sent me back to the waiting room. 7:15pm, the assistant informed me what my out of pocket costs would be. I said nope! What's just the services cost? Again, a double cleaning! I only want a single cleaning! We sir, this is what has been recommended and that is all we're offering. Really! Now it's 7:30pm, I said I'll think about it! Went there to get a new set of dentures. Finally got the dentures and they did not fit at all. Went back several times and still not fitting. I finally told them I just wanted to return them, their website said 100% money back guarantee. Was told someone would call back, no return call. Called back again, was told the person who handled that was out of the office. Called back again. was told I was not in their system. Called back again, said I would get a return call. Finally called corporate office and they said someone would call back. That was on January 16, 2026. The staff at this dental office are friendly and accommodating, and I appreciate how they treat patients. However, I had a very stressful experience with their billing and insurance process. I already paid my portion of the charges--$2,700 through CareCredit. The remaining $1,600 was supposed to be covered by my insurance. My insurance sent Aspen two letters--one on August 5, 2024, and another on July 15, 2025--asking for the information needed to approve my claim. Unfortunately, Aspen did not send the documents. In the first week of October, I called the office, and the billing staff told me that my concern was on a "ticket" and would take 2-3 weeks to process. I waited, but when I called my insurance on November 21, I was told that Aspen still had not provided the information they needed. Because of this delay, my insurance can no longer cover the $1,600, since the timeframe has already passed. Now, I am receiving voicemails and letters reminding me about the amount due, even though the issue happened because the required information was not submitted on time. This situation has been very stressful for me, and I hope Aspen can improve the way they handle insurance requests and patient accounts so that others do not experience the same problem. read more

Never trust Aspen Dental in Topeka! When I went there for a dental crown, they were super nice and told me my insurance would cover 20%, and I just needed to pay 80% upfront before they could do it. So I paid my 80% and got the crown done. But six months later, I suddenly received another bill saying the insurance didn't pay the 20%, and now I have to pay that part too! What's going on? Isn't this just a scam? What's even worse is that they replied to my review and asked me to call 844-296-0187 for help. I called, but it was completely useless -- no one actually helped me at all. Another negative point about Aspen: I made TWO post-op after hour calls requesting a one-time refill of Hydrocodone . After all, I only had my entire upper teeth removed and I bled quite a lot. Plus the pain was excruciating. Well, Dr Marina did not even dignify my request with a call back. When I called him, he had his Secretary tell me that "It's not done " False: Dr Marina simply did not WANT to give me a meager refill. Naturally, I immediately told his Secretary that I will go elsewhere for the dentures or caps. So, Aspen lost out on the approximately $20,000 that I WAS prepared to spend. read more

I would rate this place negative stars if I could. I went in to have a denture fixed and the repair failed 2 weeks later. I also CLEARLY expressed to the staff at that time that I wanted a appointment to take impressions and get new dentures made. Appointment time and they claim to know nothing about this. Awful, awful and awful. I SHOULD have a full set of brand new permanent dentures. Paid over $2100 out of pocket for them, plus my insurance coverage! They didnt even do my extractions in their office. 8-9 months after getting extractions (full mouth) and two "temp" dentures top/bottom- I rec'd a bill for $842 additional dollars. Saying my insurance refused to pay. ummm NO. insurance claims DO NOT TAKE over 8 months to deny. On top of that? They billed me over $500 for my bottom temporary- and it doesnt even fit my mouth. I scheduled an appointment and explained when I scheduled that this was an emergency dental visit because I could not get into my dentist for a broken tooth. When I finally got to the appointment I was required to have full set of mouth X-rays. I told them I had had a full set done aty dentist just a couple of months previous but they said it was required and assured me that I would not be charged. AND if I don't get the X-rays my insurance would not cover the visit. I want to add that there equipment is very outdated and the X-rays are very painful, much more so than my other dental visits have been. My wife went for a simple denture adjustment and they attempted to upsell new dentures for 5K. She has that adjusted in the Philippines for $30 everytime we go. We were also told the evaluation and x-rays were free since they wouldn't use x-rays from another dentist. I went for a root canal and crown and they attempted to upsell me a big plan for $8k. I was also told the evaluation and x-rays were free. We both got papers in the mail saying they charged our insurance company which lowered our yearly allowance. We were both lied to about the charges and all we got were x-rays we already had . We did call about the bill and we were told that they have to charge people with insurance. We submitted insurance first, before we were told it was free. We were ripped off by Aspen dental. read more

Scam artists here! Looking at my new x-rays, the dentist at Aspen told me I had several decayed teeth which he would crown. I went back to my regular dentist two weeks later. She took x-rays and said the shadows on my x-rays were not decay. Avoid these corporate dental practices! Dentists at them have a number of dollars they are supposed to bring in each day. Someone please make this make sense for me. I sat at the office for over an hour waiting to be called back. I figured the dentist would know when to call me back given they are the employee after all. After waiting an hour, I asked for my appointment to be rescheduled. I specifically asked for it to be after my work hours as I already wasted a whole work day for nothing. I was told I could have an appointment at 6pm Thursday. I get this email and a call saying that they wanted to confirm my appointment for 3:30. My question is, why am I being asked to confirm an appointment for a whole other time than the one I was given? Does the receptionist not understand what time the offices close? Do they not realize that 6pm is three hours after 3pm? I really tried to give Aspen a shot despite the reviews. I feel horrible I convinced my husband to go there. He's wore an upper denture for over 15 years. It's been repaired by us twice but thought it was time to get a new one. Horrible decision. Their 100% satisfaction guarantee is a crock! IF you can get someone to call you back they treat you like a second rate citizen. Their attempt to rectify the problem is to grind the denture down so thin you can almost see through it. The fit is so horrible he gives Mr Ed a run for his money. Not once in the entire time he had his other denture did he ever slur. It's been months and he still slurs's. Forget eating anything that's not mush!!! I'm very disappointed that they are allowed to treat people the way they do as well as not held accountable for making things right but I'm not giving up! I wish I could give zero stars. This outfit is set up as a scam. Most of the employees I believe are doing their jobs. Here is the scrub. After getting X-rays and the hygienist the Dentist comes in and shares his concerns you are sent to the financial advisor. They start off high with the most they could do. In my case it was $23,000 for something permanent and I believe it was around $17,000 for a cavity and a bridge. The very minimum was to clean my teeth. They wanted me to pay $163.00 extra for non lasting coating and a gel. So after calling the front desk I was told by Shelby that she would talk to the hygienist and I would probably get a call from her. Much to my surprise it was the practicing manager Brian that called me. Out of the gate he was aggressive. I told him so and asked him to lower his voice. He tried to tell me they went out of the way to see me. What a joke he brushed me off to begin with or I wouldn't have proceeded with them. I ask you... do you want to have a similar experience? I went here last year for full dentures/implants, and at the time I couldn't afford the price quoted as the insurance I had only paid a max 1500 per year. So I decided to switch to another insurance that has no max and flat fees on most everything else. Now, when I went in last year I was told I needed to have all my teeth pulled etc and that the price started at 22,000, with the discounts they offered at the time it knocked the price down considerably. Well this year I go in, I didn't have to really be seen as it wasn't quite a year since my last appt, so as I sat and waited to talk to Brian the office manager, the owner of the place came and wanted to look in my mouth and he told me that I wouldn't have to have all my teeth pulled that we could save some at the bottom. So I finally go back to talk with Brian who told me it would be 24 hours to run the insurance because it was fedvip. So I waited 2 whole days called back and was told that everything was ready by the young lady who answered the phone that she and Brian would call me back at 130 after lunch, the call never came, so I called back at 4 and was told that they are still waiting on the insurance, and I asked why I was told I was getting a call back a 130, and she wasn't very pleasant, so I waited and called back again another 2 days later and finally get Brian on the phone who tells me my out of pocket would be 20,000, and then he asks if I wanted to make an appointment?????? FOR WHAT???? these ppl were rude, I was never offered any sort of financing or payment options, or discounts of any kind and when I asked this so called manager why is the price so drastically different from this year to last year and they were going to leave some teeth at the bottom, he gonna have the nerve to say, well 5 or 6 teeth ain't gonna make much of a difference. I will tell everyone that will listen not to go here, and now I have to start this whole process over again. To the owner, DO BETTER! Guys beware!!!!! They analyze your insurance more than you. Based on that they will suggest treatment. The young doctor there knows only to pluck teeth . He is not aware of any of the procedures like RCT and gets shocked on hearing those. Middle of pandemic and I turn to face the dentist and he is 7 inches from me looking in my mouth with no face mask!? He is in the face of many, many people everyday. For safety alone face mask should be worn by the dentist. Also very bad chair side manor. Asked questions he gave a sigh and showed me a bridge (I had told him no bridge would like implant). Took my husband there due to an abscess. First we called, of course my husband is uninsured so I asked how much is a tooth extraction? The guy on the phone said 111 for the first tooth 138 after that. I said okay thats fine, can we do payment because we don't get paid till next week? He said of course you can. Well all of that was a lie. They charged us the full 138 and we had to pay that day! Weird thing is we had to pay before anything was done. I have never been too a dentist that wants the money first. Highly disappointed in the way they relayed things. If you have someone answering the phones for questions make sure they know the answer before they speak! The only reason I gave two stars was because they got him an appointment fast. Some people were really polite, others can work on that!
