I wasn't the patient, but I was there as an emotional support buddy for someone getting their first dental exam,xrays, gum check, and scheduling their first teeth cleaning in 15 years. 15 years ago he was traumatized by a brutal dentist in NH as a kid. . Luckily, he only has slight tater built up and slight gingivitis. He has anxiety and a really bad gag reflex, but everyone put him at ease and worked with him! It was literally the best dental visit he's ever had and they completely calmed him and handled him with care. He's getting his cleaning, gingivitis mouth wash, water pick, and sonic toothbrush from them tomorrow morning. He's really not even that scared because they were all so wonderful and patient with him. Kilee- super welcome front desk girl. Veda- so calming and empathetic to a nervous patient. Kris- very gentle, calming, knowledgeable, and explained things thoroughly and patiently Dr. Miller- amazing bedside manner so to say. He's very friendly, explains every procedure, explains insurance coverage, explains products, explains routine care scheduling, explains prices... so friendly and doesn't rush you or pressure you at all. I was so pleased with my visit today. Everyone there is wonderful. No judgements. They just did their work and accepted me as I am. If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with Aspen Dental in Olean was nothing short of a complete waste of time and an obvious money grab. I originally scheduled an appointment months ago to have a filling replaced. The soonest they could get me in was six weeks out, which was frustrating but understandable. However, two weeks before my appointment, they canceled on me. I rescheduled--this time for two fillings--and waited another three weeks for that appointment. When I finally arrived, the hygienist informed me they would only be doing ONE filling--something they conveniently failed to mention when I made the appointment. I explained that I needed both fillings replaced, and they were right next to each other. She left the room, came back, and took an unnecessary X-ray, which felt like a stall tactic. Then the dentist came in and, instead of actually doing his job, asked which "area" I'd like him to look at today. I repeated that I needed both fillings replaced, and he flat-out refused, stating they only look at one area per visit--and worse, he wasn't going to fix anything that day. Just "look." At that point, I got up and walked out. This place is running a complete racket. It's not about the money--I have excellent insurance that covers everything 100%. It's about the principle and their total disregard for my time and comfort just to maximize their profits. They intentionally drag out treatment to squeeze more out of insurance companies and waste patients' time in the process. Avoid this place at all costs. The care I received was good. I would rate it a 4. I had an emergency which they handled very well. I then needed a root canal and a crown. They had me pay almost $2000 up front until they knew what my insurance would pay. My insurance has paid them. I am now due a significant refund and have been unable to get them to refund it to my credit card. Everyone agrees I overpaid but it still isn't resolved. Now they don't answer the phone. I went to see about a chipped tooth. They talk greatly about working with you. i really wanted to get my front tooth fixed so it did not break. it was there way or the highway. would not fix the tooth only. I am updating my review again because I've learned a few things about the way Aspen dental treats their staff. Unfortunately, the dentists and specialists are often overworked and underpaid. As a result, the one or two primary dentists and staff are burned out quickly. It's no wonder I overheard them complaining. Some of the staff here is somewhat rude and bitter, And sometimes they take it out on the patients. I've also learned there is a high turnover rate because of this. I wish the upper management would consider adding additional staff to help ease the workload burden. Otherwise you may be out of business... you don't want overworked and stressed out staff. This dentist was considered an "emergency dentist" but was trying to just get more money from me.. took hundreds of X-rays they didn't need to for the thing I was going in for, I have a real dentist but had an emergency they could get me in quick- which was great but they just wanted my money and did not help whatsoever.. Tried to schedule me for all this work that'd be $7000 total- when I went in just to fix a chipped tooth.. he said I would need a crown on it, went to my actual dentist and they did a quick fill easy!! They don't know what they're doing and are just greedy for money!! I would not recommend to go here if you like your teeth!! SAVE YOUR MONEY! I had an appointment when they were new to the area and the office organization and wait time was horrendous, I didn't think too much about it because they were new to the area and I figured they might just be going through some typical new business growing pains. The dentist and hygienist I saw were great though once you got through the front-office and 2nd waiting room cluster. However, my husband is now going to them and they've been open for a couple years now and unfortunately they still have the same exact problems, which is sad because the dentists and hygienists there are fantastic. Main things to keep in mind: 1. The front office is unorganized and inefficient. 2. If you have to call them be prepared to be on hold for a long time. If they say they are going to have someone call you back, be prepared to have to follow-up several times. Be persistent. 3. Most of all be prepared to wait a LONG time when you do have an appointment. Easily 30-45 minutes, and there have been times where it has been over 1+ hour of waiting to get into the 2nd waiting room, then even more waiting when you get into the 2nd waiting room. So to be on the safe side if you need to go there just keep that in mind. read more

Definitely will NOT go back. The ladies that did the ridiculous amount of x-rays (never had that many taken in all of my life) were very patient and gentle. The dentist looked at my x-rays and in my mouth in under a minute. He appeared to not know what was going on in the office and was often guided by the hygienists. This made any confidence in the dentist disappear completely. While there, I feel all they cared about was selling services. I was told I needed over $10,000 worth of work. I was there once before and was quoted an equally high estimate(At that time I was told I would get free xrays and exam. They then billed me for both. I explained i was told both xrays and exams were supposed to be free. They sent my bill to collections when I refused to pay). They pushed to have me sign up for "payment plans". It was all sell, sell, sell. After explaining I didn't have money even for their payment plans, their sales person's attitude quickly changed and he sounded quite irritated with me. I was so glad to get out of there. It was a complete was of time. I can't drive home enough that they only see dollar signs when someone walks in the door. read more

I don't mind waiting for quality service, and all if the people I dealt with are a pleasure, but the prices they charged are outrageous. Almost all of the other dentists in the area charge half of what they do. If you don't have top of the line insurance be prepared for a high bill. I told them I would wait to do some of the work until next year when I get my deductible back, but it seems to cover one filling maybe which is ridiculous. read more

Ann the hygienist is WONDERFUL! She is such a pleasure to see when my family and I have our cleanings! Ryan at the front desk always calls me by name when I come in for an appointment and is very commutative when discussing anything about our account or future needs. The staff is very friendly, and always wiling to work with you. If I have any kind of issues, I can call and they will have me in, on a same day appointment. They also use an e-mail system that reminds me of an appointment, or if my family member needs to schedule a cleaning. I love Aspen! read more

I am unable to give this any more stars as I was EXTREMELY disappointed in the long run. At my first visit, last year, I went in to have a problem tooth examined. I was told it was probably cracked and would need a crown or a root canal. I opted for the crown. After x-rays and the exam I was then sent to a quiet waiting room. This was to wait for the appointment/billing coordinator. I waited about 10 minutes. I then scheduled and agreed to a specific dollar amount and signed a contract to that specific cost. I was very impressed with the personal and professional atmosphere at that time. To make a long story short, it took 4 more visits to get the correct fitting crown. I was then billed for an additional amount regardless of the signed contract. The manager was very helpful and did write off some of the billed amount. I then reconsidered this practice for my annual exam. My appointment was for 3:00 pm in January 2018. I waited for one hour to be called to the back. I had the message from Aspen dental of this appointment time in my phone. The receptionist stated my appointment was for 3:30 as did the dental hygienist. I was told that they got backed up but wouldn't acknowledge my appointment set by them. I have very good dental insurance and a dental plan. The insurance should cover 100% of the annual exam. I was billed $72.00. I called Ryan, receptionist at Aspen Dental, and explained the situation. I actually asked to speak to the manager but she was unavailable. Ryan stated there was a mistake and will "put in a big ticket" for the billers to investigate. This should take 2-3 weeks. I had also referred my husband to this clinic for his bi-annual exam and cleaning. When I set the appointment up I stated it was for his "bi-annual exam and cleaning". He was given the same day appointment as me in January 2018. He had the slew of x-rays and an exam. The cleaning had to wait for another day as it wasn't scheduled that way. He was also told he had 2 very small cavities and would need to return to have the fillings done. He signed a contract for the cost of the fillings which was reasonable. He has since cancelled his appointment with Aspen Dental as he no longer has faith that the cavities will be done correctly, if he has cavities at all. Now we wait another 2 weeks or so for a reimbursement of the money he paid. BEWARE... read more

Unfortunately I am unable to give zero stars. My daughter lost a filling, I made my daughter's appointment for 8:45am as I needed to take time off work to take her. I had all of the paperwork filled out and ready before the appointment to hopefully hurry the visit along. when we arrived we were seated and they took her right in. while she was out back the lady at the receptionist's desk called to verify the insurance that I had provided before the appointment, she did this on a hands free headset in the middle of the packed waiting room broadcasting my personal information, DOB, SS#, Address etc. (Identity theft anyone?) After 2 hours my daughter was brought back out to get me, we then went to a small quiet room to discuss the next appointment where I was informed that they had done nothing today! 2 hours in the office and we accomplished zero!! If I could have given this place a MINUS I would have. My appointment was for 1:00, I arrived early due to the fact that I knew I would have paperwork to do. At 1:45, I was taken back for x-rays, then escorted into a room and waited a while longer for the dentist to come in to discuss my x-rays with me, while I had a hard time understanding her I told her that I had a filling that I wished to have taken care today. I was escorted into a room, waited another 10-15 minutes, was told that my insurance was not in the Network, I told them I still wanted my filling replaced as I had a wedding to go to this weekend. I was told that the filling was $263.00 which had to be paid before any work was done. I paid, was escorted back to the same room I was in, waited another 20 minutes, got discouraged, went out to the front desk, told them I wanted my check back for services I had not received. Nurse said "Oh she should only be about 5 more minutes". Now, on their web site it states your first appointment will take about 45 minutes, at this time I am there almost 2 hours, was informed that they could not give me my check back as it was already posted and they would have to issue me a refund. This has been the worst experience of my entire life!!! I have never felt so ill towards another company of any kind as I do with Aspen Dental. I had an old filling fall out in between 2 teeth. This being my only pain or issue I had, I made an appointment with the closest center to me, a 45 min drive. Everyone seemed polite, took my x-rays and sat me in a room to look at a bill for $12,000 for a ton of work, cleanings etc. Well that wasn't happening so I opted for $5509 worth of work to fix the original issue (which ended up costing me 2 root canals for the 2 teeth) and 1 replacement filling for a tooth I've never had an issue with and some routine cleanings. So I took the fast Genesis credit and charged it. Fine! They immediately fixed my old filling, which was done by a new girl and done incorrectly so it caused me more damage to the molar below it which I now have to have fixed elsewhere since I'll never go back to AD. I left and had to come back 2 hrs later for the "real dentist" to fix my problem 2 teeth. She was great, even though I was not told what was going to take place for a root canal, guess that's my job to research before I get work done. Fine! Anyways, my 1st step was done. I went home pain free thinking things were wonderful. Then I get a call that the lady doing my cleaning had school so she couldn't see me. Fine, I rescheduled. When I went for my next appointment they said they had tried to reach me saying they had to reschedule again since she wasn't available. Now after 45 mins driving 1 way I was irritated but luckily my crowns came in so they could do those. Great! Those were put in and to this day I have issues with them. My 1 crown is crooked and I have a big black line across my tooth very visible as I smile or talk. Not Good! So I'm irritated by this point. The dentist was great, no pain from that but the teeth cause me pain and my filling has ruined other teeth. I finally get a chance to get my cleaning done and was told, that a $135 toothbrush plus mouth wash etc has ready been charged to me. I'm a little more irritated now. I then get a call saying they need to reschedule my 2nd cleaning due to the woman not being there. If it wasn't bad enough that she asked me to give her a Google review, this was now the 3rd cancellation. Pissed now! I said I wasn't rescheduling again and credit my account. Well I get all my bills together from my insurance and decide to make sure I'm credited the proper amounts. Nope I wasn't. Surprised... No! I have now been battling with Olean, NY Aspen Dental for 6 months trying to get a $135 credit. I have provided all the necessary paperwork multiple times to the AD office and contacted my insurance company. The Olean office case manager MiKaelya, or however you spell it, refuses to speak with me. The other office personnel can't or won't help and I have been treated horrible and ignored many times. I paid $5509 in a flash but getting a credit has been agonizing. Seriously crediting me $135 for you overcharging me and then treated like a pos is not ok in any way. My other family members have opted not to ever go to Aspen Dental. read more
